Do you mind tell me why do you think having 4s revealed in wvw is bad? Real PvPers have been using this formula for a very long time now, and they don’t cry as much as those pve thieves. Actually I don’t give a kitten about it realy. I was just pointing out that that option was even missing from the poll

Try s/p 6 0 0 6 6 with the right traits, utilities and gameplay you can destroy every freaking shatter mesmer

So you want us to take a no-stealth weapon set to fight one class.

Aside form arguing about whether or not S/P is actually a counter to mes (though I agree it stands more of a chance because of the easy evasion messing with shatters), lets not forget that it sucks against mostly everything else.

taking a spec to deal with 1 class is dumb.

I’m just trying to suggest different ways to deal with those nerfs we got to acrobatic line. While the s/d set might seem worse, I think s/p was actually buffed with the last patch. I agree that many other classes are in a better spot than us tho, but that not means that we need more buffs, maybe just sligthy nerf on others

mmmm let’s see….. so i use bp+ hs to gain stealth, that is 9 ini gone… for some measy 3k backstab (that if i actually get behind target, not get killed in meanwhile by aoe and that bs actually crits)…. now i can’t use most of my spells anymore no matter what weapon set i switch to for a while….

what you basically suggest is: if let’s say necro is chilled then all his weapon spells (including ds, lich etc.) get put on CD no matter weither he used them or not yet

why can’t you stop throwing tantrum over thieves claiming they are “unfair” and “op” w/o actual evidence and actually try to play one vs any decent team

and you know what the joke is? every single person i met QQing about thieves and that actually had balls to try out one, cried 5 min later how hard that class is to play

That is why a majority are asking it to affect ini instead…? Then what? People asked for an alternative way then you thieves are asking for another compensation? 2 initiative bars? What?

Chill doesnt affect you, power block gm trait does not affect you. And tou still act that you guys have it worse?

For the record this not a whine thread or im not saying i have any difficulty fighting thieves, all im asking is for the classes to be FULLY AFFECTED, in one way or the other.

Heck, reapers are built around chill, and guess what? Thieves are not fully affected. What a joke.

Okay cynz how would you feel if mesmers are only affected by blind with half the potency? Summon phantasms, etc are not affected by blind?

1. chill doesn’t affect thieves? that is plain lie… it affects their utilities pretty fine
2. why the hell are you using power block in pvp?
3. blinds are not sole reason why mesmers have hard times vs thieves…. besides good mesmer can nuke a thief just as fast really…
4. chill mostly comes from necros, please tell me since when did necros need help vs thieves…

you ask chill to affect thieves same as other classes, but you don’t want thieves to have same mechanics as other classes….

oh and inb4 you say, yeah they should remove ini and make thieves weapons same as other classes gated by CD…. if they really did it then they would have to buff those spells by a lot, and i mean by A LOT and trust me you wouldn’t like it

Power block in pvp? Yes you are right, barely anyone uses it, why? Because again you gus are not fully affected by it. Why would you slot a gm trait where someone s immune to it? Again nowhere in my post that said that i was using PB? Even if i wanted to, it will be half performing anyway?

And that mesmer argument, so why do thieves hard counter zerk mesmers? Blinds are the majority f it, why? Our phantasms go n 20 to 30 second cds if it fails to be casted, i know youre gonna tell me then get rid of the blinds first, okay i casted my phant, are you forgetting that you could also blind them?

If you’d only ever played a thief once, you’d know that chill is already the worst condition on thief, it totally destroy their mobility, and low hp pool, zero block/invulnerability will do the rest.
My proposal on having 2 different initiative bars was meant to be just a provocation. I know it would make thieves somewhat unbalanced cos they use different mechanics, but if you ask for every class to work the same vs chill, than I ask for every class to work the same on weapon swappin, because thief at the moment is the only class that share cooldowns between different weapon set while others can always swap set and use all their skills once again.
And trust me: you don’t want thieves to have 2 ini bars both affected by chill. I can’t imagine the load of QQ on this forum if that ever happens

I mean that spamming AOE destroys the ability to shatter without requiring any skill or additional action on the part of the defending player.

One of the more egregious examples of this is the turret engi. Without clone death traited, shatter has a very low chance of even damaging the defender. Barrage does the same for ranger. Fields for elementalist. Ground based signs for guardians. Fire fields for warrior. Dagger storm for thief or simply spamming dagger cleave. Wells and marks and minions do the passive defense for necros.

All of these hard counter shatter. This nerfs Mesmer damage unreasonably since clones do practically no damage in non shatter mode.

I know this is purely utopy to ask but:
- when the expansion will come out, can any top player not share their builds that are the main reason they can create a meta?
I know many builds will remain the same as now and it’s not that hard to identify a build from a live stream but still I would like to see if in this way we can see different kind of builds at least for a while.

Invigorating Precision – The design of this trait is not happy for a thief. You don’t want to take hits. This trait’s design is low potency all the time and fits a warrior better as they can trade blows. A thief plays hit and run, so allow this trait to play more like mug so you can turn a fight around on someone. Give it an ICD and maybe make it static heal on crit plus a percentage the critical damage inflicted retuned as well, seems more build defining this way.

Invigorating Precision heals based on outgoing crits, aka crits that you do to other people.

Yup, I would never use it at the current potency because it won’t trigger for enough healing reliably, and Thief doesn’t have the sustain to stand in fights to make the most of it, you don’t want to trade hits because of the lack of sustain and that 1500 health you might gain from dealing 10000 critical damage isn’t worth it as a grandmaster trait. You’d be better off taking Practiced Tolerance in my opinion.

I think it’d be more interesting to make this trait’s healing spike with an ICD creating vulnerability Windows and allowing you to turn a fight around or combo this heal off other Heals to get high health bonus effects like Scholar runes.

That’s just my opinion though.

I thik the trait was initially designed for giving more sustain to pistol whip builds. The problem is: Is it realy worth it?

I would change some traits position: I’d move Merciful Ambush or Concealed Defeat to minor traits, giving their spot in adept traits to Cloaked in Shadow and making Resilience of Shadows a GM trait.

Yeah I think Cloack in Shadow is a good GM trait, the problem here is Shadow Rejuvenation in the wrong spot. Anet pls remove this trait and move executioner again in the CS line and thief will be balanced

Shadow’s rejuvenation is my favorite thief trait and makes what I do and actually have fun with in Guild Wars 2 possible. Solo roaming Xv1s. Without shadow’s rejuvenation, so much sustain is gone and you can not survive in the 2v1s and 3v1s if the players are good.

So you’re saying that the only way you are winning your 1vsX is thanks to shadow rejuvenation? Well this is the reason this trait should go right now. That include the vast majority of self sustain trait every other class has

Do you realy think Anet will remake their traits according to some random suggestion? I’m playing since beta and since there I’ve seen a lot of things well written but impossible to realize without rewrite the whole game. If ppl have such good ideas why they don’t make their own game with their own idea of thief. We should just focus on suggesting small changes that don’t require a big resources investment by Anet if we wanna actualy see something done or just play the game Anet designed for us with their own ideas

It is worth it now and will be in HoT, but if you want to know if HoT is gonna make thief OP, well it’s too early to guess it from just traits. We don’t know anything about stats and amulets yet

I dunno about you guys, but D/P Panic Strike looks so ridiculously strong on paper now. All the current benefits plus Stealth + Blind on Steal + more ini + Health regen. Guess D/P vs S/D will be even more one sided. kitten’s comedy

You guys keep saying that it must be removed but tell us why you say so.

Stat inflation. Stats in PVP seem balanced around a specific number of stats, when you super boost one (like damage) it over-powers base stats, say if another person didn’t inflate their HP/defenses, you end up with a stat power creep. Hence why you have thieves that can 1 shot people in wvw.

I’ll add thieves with horrid builds that in pvp would be close to useless but in wvw can work cos the stats boost from foods can fill the gap.

Hi all,

As a follow-up to my post from last Friday, I wanted to give you a run-down of the changes we’re looking to make to the engineer’s turrets:

  • Engineer turrets will be able to be critically hit.
  • Engineer turrets will be able to be affected by conditions.

Considering most minions/summoned pets are already susceptible to the aforementioned changes we feel that this is a fair way to bring turrets more inline with the rest of the game. These changes should only slightly affect the viability of turrets in PvE/WvW (low creature crit chance/condition application), while providing for more counterplay against turrets.

We’d love to hear your feedback on these changes. Feel free to respond below with your comments.

In my opinion it’s a good change but you should also add that turrets stop working if the engie is too far away. What I hate the most is when the node is free to cap but still supply crate it’s annoying as hell

Everytime sigil of air proc, the owner should receive damage too if holding a metallic weapon cos you know metals are conductive same if fire proc while holding a woody weapon

Absolutely! You don’t clean conditions per stacks! the first one upon entering stealth ane then one every three secs. That’s it, and personally in a game with a huge amount of spammable conditions, this trait would be balanced even if it would have removed 1 cond every stack

how is it the most used amulet?

ele: celes/berserk
guard: berserk/cleric
engi: celes/rabid
necro: carrion/berserk
mesmer: berserk
thief: berserk
warrior: celes/soldier
ranger: berserk/carrion/celestial

that’s 4 celestial (counting ranger)
and 6 berserk

ok 4 classes make use of cele and 6 of berserk amulet, looking at an average team composition I’d say that those 2 amulet are equally distributed and far above every other amulet in the game. Aka there’s a balance problem. This topic is about balance, I’m not saying Celestial is OP but only to find a reason to why other 8 out of 10 amulet are so underused compared to the other 2

when will people learn that it’s not their job to 1v1 builds that were designed to hold a node, especially not with berserker.

the amulet is totally fine, in fact it’s even only good on 3 classes…

Well 3 classes out of 8 it’s about the 40%, it’s still the most used amulet in the current meta, not saying it’s OP but not even close to balanced when compare the other 9 pvp amulets

There is nothing wrong with passive procs unless you just started playing. You know that a power necro can one shot you if you’re close to 50% HP, why hanging around the necro and then cry about spinal shivers if you knew it was gonna happen?

Same goes for panic strike thief, you need to be prepared to have a condi clear or defensive utility off CD if there’s a thief porting to you and you’re low on hp.

If everything had counter play was predictable and had a cast time , it would be super lame. And who ever has the most dodges would win. Just think about fighting a hammer warrior . All u need is maximum amount of dodges to beat it since its extremely telegraphed and predictable.

Without any passive or insta cast dmg, S/D thieves would be the most cancerous thing in the game. Because there would be no way to land damage on some1 that has 70% evade uptime.

without air/fire, trickery acro S/D would deal minmal damage and pose 0 threat.

just saying

The problem with this trait in www is that thieves that full invest in shadow arts can still do lot of damage, with the help of OP foods and gears, this is not the case for sPvP, and also they are able to reset fights at their will. Trying to do it in sPvP will cost you points. My point is that I would remove every self passive healing, or make it much harder to achieve, for every class. Also classes that wanna spec for a support role should benefit allies more than themselves. This is not the case with gw2 where everyone can autosustain and still deal lots of damage.
By the way returning to the OP, I agree that revealed should be the same as in www than in sPvP

That is stupid might as well removed Hidden Killer and Executioner for CS who removes an healing trait in a healing trait line let’s remove damage from damage trait line. Who stills struggles vs SA thief?

You know only unexperienced thieves take this trait cos they can easily make mistakes and fill theis skill gap. I have no problem since I’ve always refused to use it. But let’s be serious, we complain on other classes having OP stuffs that we wanna see changed but we can’t admit when something is cheese about our class. Typical gw2 mentality since beta
