Yes I do, I’ve used NoScript since it was released, but your domain was always enabled.
However, as Tanek noted (thanks
), I now have to allow cloudfront as well: the icons have returned.
Thanks both.
I play with a friend in the US (I’m in England), he has a serious lag/DC problem, I don’t, so that’s evidence that it’s NOT Anet’s servers.
I’m heartbroken for him, playing is now a huge pain and I admire his perseverance. Personally, I really don’t know where the problem lies, but when he and I are in the same zone (last night it was Snowden) and he lags and I don’t it’s hard for me to blame Anet.
Hard to day, but from your description something may well have happened to the laptop when you transported it. It has to be hardware, and if you’re not a ‘techie’ yourself then you need to take it somewhere that is.
My first GUESS is that it’s a heating problem caused by a fan fault, probably affecting the gfx chip, but there could be many other reasons like a loose connection, etc.
I have two PCs running the game at the same time, one gets DCed at least once a day, sometime more, the other never, ever DCs.
They’re identical except for gfx cards, on the same router, so clearly this is nothing to do with anything but Anet’s servers.
I loved that music, it reminds me of playing games when I was young.
Awesome, please make the .MID available!
As an example, the post I just made doesn’t have either icon!
The only icon I see in posts now is the ‘permalink’ one, both ‘reply’ and ‘quote’ ones have gone .. and yes, this is in ALL threads whether locked or not.
I can only reply using the ‘post reply’ button at the bottom of a page.
As it says on the tin, no longer getting the Guild’s MoTD when logging in.
Yes, all my toons are ‘representing’.
Given the mass DCing going on I hardly think Anet aren’t aware of a massive drop in the number of actives players in the game.
Lots of packet loss in tinet (plaync’s upstream provider) and plaync istself.
Kind of stupid a level 32 character doesn’t get one on a level 15 boss: Shadow Behemoth!
Two PCs, both patched to 100%, neither are letting me login.
And again, no timeout warning at all, simply a DC, second PC working just fine throughout.
Forgot to add, the PC that DCs is nearly always idle, the character is logged it to keep an eye out for events like Behemoth, Claw, etc.
Makes we wonder, is the ‘AFK’ check code broken? At times I’ve seen the 50-second timeout warning and moved the character and the timeout countdown stops .. but other times I’ve seen it down to 40 or 30 then the DC happens with no further warnings.
Been getting this from time to time only recently. Thing is, I run two accounts on two PCs and only get this on ONE of them! When that one DCs the other continues without any problem, whether the character I’m playing on that account is in the same or a different zone.
This is is clearly 100% NOT an ‘internet’ problem, not least because every time I DC on the first PC I re-connect first time immediately without a problem, and also the second PC NEVER DCs at the same time: and since I’ve had a good number of DCs then I’d expect at least some of the time that both PCs would DC at the same time.
Will all dailies/monthlies and infinite sources be counted in this ranking? If so, it seems rather useless as it will be all about who has the most money to blow on salvaging then.
Could any developer please give us more information on this?
As we warned earlier this year, we’ll be closing out the infinitely repeatable achievements and capping them at a reasonable achievement number due to these rankings and the rewards we plan to add to total achievement points someday. These achievements will get capped with this release.
Daily/Monthly achievements won’t be changed.
So, you’re going to nerf and delete content for everyone to pander to those who are so sad they need to feel good about themselves by seeing the name of a video game character of theirs in a leaderbaord?
Really?
Wrong. The Event Mentor is rewarded if in the group you are finishing event is a person with lower real lvl than your real lvl. Easy to obtain if you go to low-level area and help (mentor) people with the quests.
I’ve completed many of these dailies since they were introduced, never that I can recall in a group.
That said, mostly I do them in Queensdale were the side-kicking is many levels, previously I did this ‘failing’ Harathi event on a character level 45+ so my presumption is that VoxShatterfall is on the right lines and the level difference it too small; even though the side-kick mechanic is clearly kicking in by the presence of the 42|43 level indication with the green down-arrow left of the XP bar.
As for the people complaining about the change – All thats happened is the “gauranteed” rare is now a “daily chest” reward, the same as fractals or a dungeon. Not a biggy at all.
PER ACCOUNT, that is a HUGE difference!
This is a good fix- something needed to be done and fast.
This will stop the insane farming.
Kudo’s
Farming is bad .. how?
Oh wait, because YOU can’t do it, no one should. Right?
Level 43 Guardian, down-leveled to 42 in Harathi. When she does the ‘Skritt thieves’ event (forget its name, the one where the two Skritt thieves collect ‘shinies’) she’s twice had ‘success’ credit but neither time did her Event Mentor increment.
Surely 43->42 qualifies as ‘sidekicking’, doesn’t it?
Legitimate players are almost never actioned
Nice idea, sadly though since you refused to explain why bans happen (that refusal was clearly stated in the first of those two posts) then basically no one knows what they have to avoid doing: and patently those players that were falsely accused of cheating/RMTing didn’t do anything wrong, yet by not explaining it to them they obviously risk getting banned again when they do it again (not knowing that they shouldn’t).
I suppose I could take it a step further and ask how I was supposed to know that there was a camp of refugees in LA.
Actually, the game told you explicitly, if you’d been paying attention.
Another thing: I quickly realised thar a chunk of early players have made insane amounts of money due to bugs and exploits and whatever that is not available anymore.
As a newish player this is one thing I find pretty depressing, if you weren’t around to be able to use the numerous exploits before they were fixed you’re basically screwed before you start, the economy is broken in so many ways due to the easy way gold, precursors, etc. etc. were available ‘back in the day’.
Does anybody use the search option before they post? Just wondering.
Yes, but since the only time this was discussed was over 4 months ago and the situation didn’t have any obvious relation to what I observed I chose to ignore it.
And no, I wasn’t being attacked on any of the occasions this has happened.

She was buffed up when the krait received a boost with the last update, so I’m going to go in and remove her summon skill, as I did with the bosses in the other suffering story steps.
How about this time you check ALL such mobs and we don’t have to do this for a third time when another Krait boss is discovered?
So how come 3 out of 4 logs from an Orrian Sapling got ruined using Orichalcum tools?
What tier is higher than that and why would one waste such tools when every other node I’ve logged was fine with Oric. tools?
…. should be removed.
Yes its just a pixels and 95% of guild wars population wont become animal abusers because of that but we have children playing here. Proposing that bashing rabbits or kitties to death is rewardable ( which is what anet is suggesting here ) is wrong and i bet in some form – illegal.
Yes yes this is a game but we have too much violence in games already, why add more?
Complaining about excessive violence in a game based on mass killing seems .. a tad eccentric.
There is a workaround which is almost as simple as /report.
You can /w <botname> Caught! (or whatever you want) so that your whisper to him appears in your chatwindow, then rightlick his name. When you rightclick the botters name, you will have the menu option to report him.
Not necessarily a great idea to tell them who reported them I’d suggest.
I’ve lost count the number of jumps I’v e failed because of the ‘double-tap-to-roll’ mechanism. While it probably works for some people it really, really doesn’t for me.
How do I disable it?
I’m guessing that by earrings you mean the accessory slot items? If that’s the case, I believe many people are getting those from the Guild vendor that was introduced with rewards for Commendations earned via the Missions. They were also added to the Laurel vendor to provide another way of obtaining them for those players who so choose.
Given the truly asinine prices Anet put on the Laurel-bought ones to punish those who aren’t in the mega-guilds able to unlock this content, I highly doubt the reason you cite is the real one.

Having read the post on ‘boxing and macros I see Anet have created a HUGE loophole the ’boxers who don’t ‘actively play’ can use:
“3. You cannot program a macro to perform the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.”
“4. And as stated above, you may not program your keyboard to perform functions on more than one account at a time. "
This sounds great, Anet are trying to ban multi-accounts being driven by a macro .. but it entirely fails to mention hardware/software KVMs and key/mouse ‘echoers’ which can broadcast that single keystroke to multiple processes/PCs.
Thus, it’s perfectly within the ‘rules’ to program a macro that performs one action on one account, while something other than the macro makes it work on other accounts, since the playing of the keystroke on other systems isn’t part of the macro and so isn’t covered at all by this policy statement.
As an aside, with no definition of ‘active playing’ then the whole thing is largely moot.
Oh, yes, I am a ‘boxer, I have two accounts which I sometimes play at the same time. No, I don’t use macros, or ‘echoers’, I use InputDirector as a software KVM, I fully support what Anet are trying to do in banning automated ‘boxers, but sadly this policy statement won’t do that.

By offering a variety of content, we can have a game that lots of people can enjoy. There’s a lot of content out there, but there’s not a whole lot of things for a coordinated group to do larger than 5 people to do. Guild missions were made to remedy that.
Great .. and to force players into huge guilds needed to unlock this stuff you put the rewards on Laurel vendors then utterly take the kitten by pricing them at absurd prices to effectively put them out of reach of those not in the huge mega-guilds you’ve designed this for.
/golfclap
10 people is a very good size for a Tier 1 bounty mission.
You just totally fail to ‘get it’, don’t you?
Last time I checked this was an mmo right?
And that puerile comment has WHAT, exactly, to do with the small guild problem this thread is all about?
These items are mainly earned through guild content, we included them on the laurels vendor to give players the opportunity to earn them if they are not in a guild but they are priced high to encourage players to try and accomplish them via the guild content.
So sucks to be in a small guild or choose not to be guilded, eh? Nice attitude Anet.
LOL at those arguing GW2 is ‘superior’ because the fights degenerate into a chaotic zergfest .. and especially a LOL that it’s a ‘cheat’. Fight design is made much easier if you simply make everything into a DPS race, which is all I see GW2 providing.
Changing a password is a tiny thing that takes just a couple of minutes, at most, and it can make all the difference.
Actually, it’s only trivial like that for those who don’t take their password security seriously, for those of us that do it’s a PITA.
I have a way of deriving a site’s password based on the name of the site and a small pool of 4-digit numbers which I combine with a special character is a deterministic way so I don’t have to remember it; I can derive it from first principles.
I have two GW2 accounts so I have now to have two different passwords: a pain.
This means I need to derive two passwords using these rules and the remember which I attached to which account: a pain.
So I have to use a password manager, because otherwise I’ll likely get locked out of an account if I use the ‘wrong’ password more than a couple of times: a pain.
If you really must pander to those too inept to secure themselves, at least provide an option to those of us who DO know what they’re doing and provide a opt-out.
That article by O’Brien is long on waffle, light on real content and well-argued security aspects: as Bruce Schneier says (and if you don’t know who he is perhaps it’d be worth researching him) about many things in the security world, it’s largely “security theater”.
Oh, BTW, a company that uses e-mail addresses as login names to web forums and on-line games really shouldn’t be lecturing others on the subject of account security.
Given an e-mail address is the key to account security, forcing users to enter it every time they log in (thus providing keyloggers and wire sniffers more opportunities to grab them) isn’t a great idea, is it?
Just saying.

If the game had a normal secure ‘trade’ mechanism that allowed players to deal ‘face to face’ like every other MMO I’ve ever played, the TP wouldn’t be needed and such scams wouldn’t happen.
Every other MMO I play (all 5 of them) have an ‘auction house’ or similar, and all allow player-to-player trading. It’s Anet’s desire to use the TP as a gold sink and their determination not to allow such ‘face to face’ trading that is the root cause here.
Play story mode of the dungeons. They tell the story of Destiny’s Edge.
It’s a pity core storylines require grouping, Turbine have the right idea about this.
I called Paypal customer service and they claim NCSoft is a “High Risk Vendor” and that they cant complete transaction with them because they dont provide invoices with correct information.
Basically, whoever you talked to in PayPal is talking out their behind, I’ve used PayPal several times and apart from the last time when Anet’s web site glitched out after completing the transaction never had a problem (the glitch occurred when Anet was trying to send me the confirmation, the cash was paid and the gems delivered as normal).
Not sure it would be easy to do either because WvW is intrinsicly linked to PvE and has nothing at all to do with SPvP..
Er, WvW is just a PVP variant, what ‘intrinsic’ link has it to ‘non-PC-contact’ PVE?
Its much more preferred
You’ve confusing what YOU prefer with what I prefer: stop thinking what you like is the only thing that matters.
The clue is in the title of the game, people, and seems Anet is looking to consolidate the player base. I say this is about time …
You clearly don’t know the ‘lore’ of the game if you make a comment like that. You also seem to be yet another player who’s played since release and therefore don’t care about those who didn’t.
Hint: I didn’t and maybe I don’t want to join a huge guild started on day one where I feel I’ve nothing to contribute because it’s all been done already.
A total fail on two counts, both mentioned many times above:
1) requiring ANY of the guild trees to be at level 5
Even not-so-small guilds may not have level 5 in anything if it doesn’t unlock something they’ve seen having a value until now
2) using the PVP tree when many players/guilds never touch PVP content
Fine, you want to encourage PVP but using a huge stick like this won’t do that, it’ll simply turn people off.
So I was playing just fine, got kicked due to a patch and now I’m staring at the loading screen for The Grove.

IIRC, not long ago the Total Makeover was bugged on a couple of races, I think the Human was one of those. If so, is it now fixed?
Something wrong with British accents?
Might want to reword that, it sounds a little bigoted.
I’m British, and the Sylvari accents are indeed fairly annoying, largely because … well, not that many British people actually speak like that, and the ones that do are usually posh and a bit stupid. Most of the conversations sound like a Monty Python sketch.
Another Brit here and yes, this voice acting actually made me stop playing this race, it’s beyond aggravating, it seems to be how the Americans think all British people speak; in fact, the voicing in the game is accent-free, it’s the ‘upper class’ “plum in the mouth” intonation that historically the upper-classes were taught to use (aka. the Queen’s English), ‘ordinary’ Brits rarely if ever were/are heard speaking like this.
Just as bad to some extent are the asinine one-liners…
“Less violence, more violets”
“Excuse me, pardon me, can I have a word” (this one just drives me to rage, it repeats endlessly while I’m crafting and there’s on NPC in sight that wants to talk to me)
“Live the moment”
etc. etc.
All in all this is race has the worst voice acting and dialog I think I’ve ever suffered in a game .. the Asruana OTOH are up their with WOW’s goblins as having some of the most hilarious dialog I’ve enjoyed.

Something odd happened yesterday in the final Centaur camp in Hirathi, the one where you storm the gate and eventually kill the main boss.
By the time I got there on one of my characters the fight for the gates was over but the super chest (can’t recall it’s exact type) that spawns once the gates have been breached was available for him to loot: he’d not hit a single centaur in that fight, but since he was in the event area I thought he was just lucky.
THEN, I logged in a second character, ran her there and the chest was up for her too .. she wasn’t even in the game when it spawned!
This can’t be WAI, surely?
So, THREE HOURS after this post was started Anet still haven’t posted a single word about the cause, or when they expect to fix it. It’s implausible (except through incompetence) they don’t know what’s wrong by now.
Nice feedback Anet.
