This sword. Of all the detailed and amazing stuff they’ve created I keep coming back to this sword skin. I’m not really one for flashy so this sword really suits my tastes.

I like the basic design of that sword, but I prefer the darksteel version because of the coloring, a darkened blade, with white wrapping on the hilt. (if only we could dye the basic weapons)

Shortbow:

Dragon’s Jade Needler

Dreamthistle Shortbow

Aether

Swords:

Dragon’s Jade Lacerator

Fractal Sword

Lord Taeres’s Shadow I wish the skin(the pink particle effect design) of this weapon was placed on or modified for other weapon models.

An End to the Queensdale Train

All those people disrupting the train on purpose… and enjoying it.

They do not want the train in the area, and feel it is detrimental to the server. So they do what they can to make zerg training in the area unappealing to as many players as possible. A player-driven solution to a player-driven problem.

So instead of simply putting the nail in the coffin, and getting it over with, you’re suggesting anet supports solutions that creates direct conflict between players resulting in a hostile community?

It is now okay for someone to step in whenever someone feels someone is playing the game in a way they do not like, and do whatever they can to ruin their gaming experience for the simple reason that they don’t like the way their playing, and feel it doesn’t fit the vision of Gw2?

I disagree with the concept of players in game policing others based on an interpretation they got from a dev post or video, that should be anet’s job, not some in game vigilante.

I’d say people who purposely kill champs “out of order” to get retribution on rude people are making the map even more toxic.

You’re not teaching anyone a lesson when you do that, the type of people who get upset over someone randomly killing a champ are already unreasonable people, you’re just going to make them more upset.

Lambent, I do agree that trolling for retribution’s sake is indeed adding toxicity to an already ugly atmosphere. I’ll also admit that I’m guilty of it. No, I’m not happy about it either. However if you use that same logic to anyone witnessing bullying, that they should just let it go because it may make them “more upset”, where would that lead?

I don’t see them as the same, Ideally, when one is responding to bullying, the only one who faces the repercussions for that is the person/people responsible for the bulling.

Trolling the entire champ train for the actions of some people would be the same as (in terms of an entire group of people paying for the actions of a few) someone flooding an entire football locker room as payback for the actions of a few of those players.

You’re not teaching anyone a lesson when you do that, the type of people who get upset over someone randomly killing a champ are already unreasonable people, you’re just going to make them more upset.

On top of that, some of those who normally don’t care when a champ is randomly killed, will care when they find out someone is doing it on purpose to troll, causing even more arguments in map chat.

Worst of all, once it’s been established someone is actually trolling the train, mob mentality starts to occur, and any innocent new player that has the misfortune being around the troll, gets lumped right along with them, and even with that, it’s still a minority of the zerg. Is it right? No, but it happens.

Second, while I’ve seen some very atrocious things said in queens map chat (and reported them), I feel some of the things seen as verbal abuse, aren’t even worth taking offense over. Here is a similar example of a comment people have considered to be abuse that I’ve seen both on the boards, and in game, I wouldn’t say it, but I don’t see it as offensive either.

“I wish there was player killing in this game.”

I don’t know, /shrug, to me someone saying they wish they could kill you in game is a joke.

Another argument that pops up fairly often, is the claim that people in the game will need to learn how to zerg sometime anyway. I partially agree with this statement as i have played in WvW and participated in some of the bigger world events such as Tequatl or the Wurm event in Bloodtide Coast where that sort of thing is required.
However.. It is not a skill that i believe should be the first thing new players should learn how to do. Instead of learning their skills, what they do and what order they are most effectively used in while dodging and healing for the inevitable outcome that they encounter numerous situations where they are NOT in a zerg or even a party for that matter, they are marshaled into a blob of people where so many particles and abilities are spammed in hopes that they hit the champion for enough damage to grant them credit for the event, that there is no way of really knowing what an ability is capable of or what it may even look like within the cluster of abilities being thrown at the champion.

A popular claim is that the train is extremely efficient way of leveling and farming. In other words, its a giant grind for easy levels. And the train itself is not as efficient as it is claimed to be. Considering that a champion drops around 1s 75c give or take and a higher level character spends 1s+ to waypoint to the various spawn areas, they are only receiving 25% if that in a full rotation of the train after WP costs are added in. In higher level zones like Frostgorge or Cursed Shore the trains are indeed very efficient. Granted these zones are more challenging and do require zergs at times to down a stronger boss. But these trains are hard to come by now that a majority of the people interested in farming a train are taking the easy route by hopping aboard the QD train.

That’s not why those trains are hard to come by.

Frostgorge train got nerfed into oblivion. (I mean, someone can still do it if they want to, but yeh)

There is no train in CS, or at least I have yet to see one since megaservers arrived.
Cursed Shore is a land of chaos, I mean, it’s an okay place for events and loot, but it’s not as great as it could be, because people in cursed generally do what they want to do, and they wont form up in any train or anything, and wont even bother to call out events sometimes ,and people are often arguing about whether to defend an event, or let it fail., and do things like start Plinx when an event at shelter is going on, etc

Queensdales isn’t really about the loot, at least not for most people I would think. I just got done participating in the “train” to finish my daily. Train in quotes because someone was trolling it of course. (unless you don’t count running around as a zerk warrior dpsing champs down, and not even bothering to call them out not trolling, and when they happen to catch up to you, immediately port to a different champ)

Gw2 most grindy game ever..?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lambent.6375

I spend probably 4-5 hours a week raiding. 13 weeks without anything is an anomaly and I have a difficult time believing this claim.

Still, raiding is more entertaining that sitting at a crafting station in GW2 and by far, raiding is not the only end game activity.

The only long part about crafting is gathering the materials, which can be done using different methods by just playing the game.

You mean by grinding gold?

Playing the game.

Edit: dungeons, world bosses, cursed shore events, roaming in level 80 zones killing mobs, etc.

I don’t know about spvp since I don’t play it, but I hear it’s decent too.

So you can do dungeons to do your crafting? That would be great if dungeons would drop specific recipe’s or maybe specific stuff you need but what I have seen all that might drop is some of the mats you need but not in high enough qualities that doing a dungeons to get those mats is rewarding enough. Plus I want mats to be more easy accessible then having to farm dungeons for them, more in the line of mining or farming a mob in a area where it drops a lot of that material (for example blood) so you can just go there for a few minutes to farm the blood you need.

However having to really work hard for a specific item you need or a recipe would be great. But like I said, I have not really seen that (molten facility had it, but that was temporary).

Same for your other examples.

The idea is that would would buy the materials with the money you get from doing dungeons, while selling anything you don’t need for additional funds.

But yeah, I do think they need to add more mobs in game that drop t6 loot.

Ah ok, so you do the dungeons (or something else) to grind gold to buy the mats.

Wait wasn’t that what I said to begin with.. Grind gold.

Yeah it was:

No, you do the dungeons if you enjoy them, and get gold as a reward that can be used to work toward some of your in game goals. If someone does not like doing dungeons, and view them as just as grinding gold, they have other options. (unless the very activity of grinding gold is an activity they like )

Yes, there are people that actually like grinding. It doesn’t make the grind disappear however.

Which is fortunate for them since they don’t have to slug it out in CS if they don’t want to, and there are now things they can do that are as equally rewarding or greater.

I don’t know about spvp since I don’t play it, but I hear it’s decent too.

I would never have managed to get enough materials for my ascended gear if i was just “playing the game” (and i am playing since the launch, and playing a lot). I had to go out of my way to gather/buy them. The content i usually play just doesn’t offer good enough rewards. It certainly doesn’t offer enough of the materials i needed.

And by the way, if you ask a random player in (mentioned by you) Cursed Shore why they are doing the events there, 90% of the time the answer will be “farming”. They are not interested in the events themselves (which is understandable, since the zone itself is both boring and ugly). It is just a grind.

The game is different now though. Before, the activities in this game were unequal when it came to rewards, so they ended going through several nerfs to make them more balanced.

And if someone in CS said they were their to farm, that doesn’t tell the whole story because some people play the game for the sake of farming, while others view farming as something negative.

Once you have the materials it only takes an hour or so to reach max craft, maybe even less depending on how organized the person is.

It’s not like this is daoc crafting where it can take you over 8 hours to reach max craft(the entire time spent crafting at the forge or alch table, etc), and that was after the nerf that made it easier, it use to be harder.

2. All items traded on the trading post exchanged from player to player become bound to their account (sorry flippers). This includes everything: Weapons, Armor, Materials, consumables, siege, etc. I craft something, sell it on the TP, whatever the buyer bought, it’s now bound to their account. I mine a stack of platinum, mail it to another player, if they accept it, that stack of platinum is bound to their account. Anything they craft with their account bound mats, becomes account bound itself. Crafting the platinum to make darksteel, you guess it account bound. The account bound darksteel used to forge whatever item, account bound as well.

No thank you, I’m against such restriction.

Making rewards more fun

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lambent.6375

It’s often said that things in game aren’t rewarding enough, and rewards generally mean gold, exotics, etc. While it’s true that some things may not be very rewarding, it’s also true that these can’t be increased due to inflation, and items being too common.
I think Gw2 has a lot of reward content from Living story, and other portions of the game that can be updated and expanded upon to improve rewards overall.

1. Evon and Keil badges, and a new reward item.
There were nice decorative items that some people still utilize in game to this day. It would be nice if various unique badge designs are introduced in game, that could be obtained for completing certain in game objectives. Once one of these badges are earned, they can be withdrawn from the achievement panel and used.

example: Completing Claw of Jormag 100 times will award a person with an Ice badge that has the design of an ice claw in the center.
- Defeating Lupi 10 times will award a Decaying Badge
-etc

2. Unique Food and Potions
During the Battle of LA events, there were certain buffs that can be obtained that will not only buff you characters skills, they would also add fun effects to your character, such as growing, or shrinking.

Some of these effects can possibly be added to food and potion items that can only be obtained from doing certain events.

example: The chest at shatter has a chance to reward a food item that gives 30% MF/70 power/10% chance to shrink your character for 7 sec

3. Potion cosmetics (halo and horns)
For certain events that have fairly unique story lines to to them, Bria’s Manor for example, it would be nice if there was a random chance to get a reward that is related to the story line of the event.

example: Completing Bria’s manor allows a random chance to receive “Bria’s Ghost”.
Bria’s Ghost – summons a mini version of Bria to loom over your head and haunt you.

Those are just a few of the things I was thinking of, and I believe they would be a nice addition to all parts of the game.

Those risen corrupters have been nasty very long time (since anet killed orr even’t farming if i remember right). Did they buff those even more?

They seem to be the same to me, they’re deadly enough though. I haven’t been able to notice any tells they give off before pulling because of the chaos, and if you don’t have a stun break and dodge ready when you’re pulled, you’re going to die pretty much.

The Champion Risen Wraiths are pretty much invincible mainly because a lot of people don’t know enough to get away from them when they rise up in the air, so they just end up regening back to full health every time. (also jofast is a small area, so there is little place to run, unless you go outside, but then you leave the supplies unprotected.)

If you reapply the original skin to an item, does it effectively reverse the transmutation?

example: If you re skinned your tempered spinal blades with a Desert Rose, and then re applied the Tempered spinal blade skin to it later on, would you be able to use it in the mystic forge?

WHY ANET? My only source of income is gone. Life is not worth living anymore. But seriously, this was not even clear in the patch notes. This patch went ahead without the approval of the community. I’m sure this is devastating to everyone! How can anet change something so drastic and not ask the community how they would feel about the train being removed. This change is so drastic, it needs democracy and opinions of others.

We want the train back.

I’m going to assume the OP was meant as a joke.

If not, then I’m sad for you. You have a huge, beautifully crafted game to explore which got a little bigger last night, and all you’re worried about is farming gold in one zone? Open your eyes.

Anet doesn’t need anybody’s approval for anything, it’s their product.

About this.

Champ train was an activity that could be done in 20min, 30min, or an 1 hour with no hassle depending on the user, which was what was so great about it. When speaking of champ farmers, many people come with the opinion of, “If person A is a champ farmer, Person A does nothing but champ farm.” Just because someone was a champ farmer does not mean they didn’t have other in game activities. So to tell people “Oh, now you can do other stuff” does not always make sense.

Guild Wars 2 has a wide variety of players, and among these players there is also a group that doesn’t particularly care about bone crushing difficulty, their main in game interest may be just to collect skins to have their character all shiny looking, while running around killing stuff.

Of course, some may go to greater lengths to get the skins they want if they wanted a skin from arah or something, but most are perfectly fine doing simple activities in open world to work toward their goal.

Was playing around fsg tonight, and hoped in a group, and tried some stuff.

It’s certainly possible to run some kind of champ train if people cooperate, and include the champs in nearby zones, like the three in fireheart rise. I know two of them seem to have consistent spawns, not sure on the third one. Doesn’t cover the spawn of the big 3 though(fish, kodan norn), so a train would also have to incorporate other champs like the giant.

I think it would be hard to organize something like that since there is no multi map chat, people will have different opinions on which champ to go to , and future megaservers may interfere in the future.

More awesome news.

Sooooo happy!!!!

Out of curiosity, why exactly does this make you happy?

Because people that champ farm are too brain dead to play the TP.
Which means people will do more dungeons now. Good enough for you?

In other words, doing something in game they didn’t want to do in the first place, but sense it’s the only way to make gold now aside from t6 mat farming,(and flipping of course) meh.

They do mention it in the patch notes, under World Polish in the Balance, Bugs and World Polish section:

All open world champions have been converted into events to allow for them to scale for large groups, or have had their classification changed to elite or veteran.

What I don’t understand…..why nerf the Frostgorge train but not the Queensdale train? This will just drive more people to the Queensdale train – which is already creating a toxic environment for new players to see as their first experience in GW2.

They did nerf the queens train, spider is now a vet, and bandit is a vet as well I think.

Usually around this time or a couple hours from now or so.

Don’t get excited though, something could always go wrong and it wont be until later in the evening.
