Sigil of Battle

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lambent.6375

Lambent.6375

Yeah, well, I guess it depends on how you use it also.

After the quickness nerf I had to buy some more weapons, and sigils of battle. A lot of peeps were already doing this along with their quickness builds, but I don’t sPvP or WvW, so I’m not as competitive.

I have 5 main weapons I use now. 2x GS with sup sigil of battle

2x Sb with sigil of battle (one of them is just a major sigil, because those things are expensive, lol)

1x SB with sigil of accuracy. <—- I usually pair this one with the GS when I’m not sure what situation I’m going to be getting in.

I switch them around depending on what I’m doing, or how I feel.

When people complain about having to turn off auto-attack, it just makes me wonder how they deal with projectile reflection when using ranged weapons.

By hitting the sheath weapons key. (after assigning a key to it)

Switching to melee

Or turning in a different direction when you can afford to.

lvl 78 exotic gear worth 13% mf loss?

in Players Helping Players

Lambent.6375

Well, I guess 13% is kind of small to be stressing over, but I’m a careful person, so I just want to ask in case there is something I don’t know about, like breaking points or whatever. :x I use this set for Open world play. I’ve mainly thought about switching because

1. I can kill faster

2. It looks better.

So far I have.

rare armor: 18% (If I switch to the level 78 exotic set, I will add exotic jewels to my Masterwork trinkets to get 5% back)

runes: 60% (5 pirate/1 traveler)

5 Masterwork trinkets: 30%

1 ascended amulet: 20%

superior sigil of luck 25 stacks: 15%

- total: 143% MF + 30% from food = 173%

If I switch to exotic 173 – 13 = 160%

Have you found the perfect Guild or Guilds for you?
I don’t like people

Have you made friends to occupy your time in between what you do everyday?
Again, I don’t like people.

Misanthropes will never be content.

Perhaps you should stick to single-player games. I’m all about defending “solo-play” in MMORPGs, to the extent that you don’t need to be grouped up or doing things with the same people for any extent of time to still enjoy the multiplayer aspect. But if you don’t like people at all, what’s the point of playing where there are other people?

I get where he is coming from. I play mmorpgs because I like the aspect of an open world that continually gets content updates, they usually have an in game market involving other people, and briefly teaming with people to achieve a common goal like raids, but in this case, dynamic events. (not WoW type raids, I never played WoW)

But I’m not the type of person that forms relationships with people, so I don’t really log on in game just to chat with others. This is also one of the reason I don’t do dungeons, I don’t have a like minded set of people to due them with, so I generally don’t do them, and I dislike the generally attitude of a lot of people in PUGS. Example: Instead of choosing to give out tips to someone who may be having issues, they instead choose to /rage, or they just don’t say anything. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been in a good number of PUGS with some good people, but I’m not trying to deal with that when I’m playing a game for fun.

^ Guess that was kind of long, lol Don’t know about the person you quoted, but that’s why I like mmorpg’s, but don’t like people at the same time.

Question, I currently have 143% MF just accounting for armor and trinkets. (the amulet is ascended with 20% MF)

Would it be worth the 18% loss in MF in order to switch over to level 78 exotic zerker armor? (I’m currently using rare explorer gear) Make that a 13% loss instead, since I can add exotic opal jewelry to my trinkets to get back 5%.

This is the stuff I was talking about buying, if anyone has any suggestions.

- I know this was already standard for a lot of players -

I never particularity played in WvW, and mainly stay in open world PvE, so I didn’t bother doing this due to the expense, and the fact that I don’t play in a competitive environment, but I have to switch some things up up now. (Yes, killing speed is important to me in open world) I took the 5 points out of BM, and added them to skirmishing, so I ended up with, 20 marksmanship/ 30 skirmishing / 20 Wilderness Survival.

My main gear is Zerker armor with ruby orbs, and knights trinkets with SB/GS. (it’s the play style that I most enjoy after playing around with a few things before crafting exotic armor)

So far I have (I still need to purchase the bolded)

1x exotic SB with superior sigil of accuracy

1x exotic SB (need to buy superior sigil of battle)

1x exotic SB with sigil of battle

1x GS with sigil of battle

1x GS with sigil of battle

I’m getting duplicates for situations when I want to stay 100% in melee, or 100% ranged.

To someone above who asked if the community should or shouldn’t complain. Go read the rest of the class forums. Warriors apparently are all quiting because of the haste nerf. Thiefs are all quiting because of the haste and stealth nerf.

How is it possible that almost every class is upset in some way after each patch ? Some of the comments are very funny.

From what I understand, warriors tend to be not so effective in PvP, but they’re very effective in PvE, while it’s the opposite for Rangers. (of course, people have different opinions about this) The overall nerf of quickness affected each class in a different way, so maybe that’s why many classes are upset over this.

Ranger which -DEPENDED- on quickness to be relevant as a DPS CLASS at ALL. Would have not have had a LARGE CHUNK of their dps ripped away from them!

These forums are home to some of the most extreme hyperbole I’ve ever seen. You’re hardly losing any DPS by this change. You lose more DPS from swapping to a melee pet and having it have to run to the target than you lose from the 50% reduction in attack speed for two seconds. As for the utility QZ, everyone got hit by the same nerf, so you’ll just have to make do.

Unless you’re a ranger using melee weapons, or your pet is down.

Mega Boss loot changes

Lambent.6375

How did Orr events get nerfed? The fix to the way loot drops were calculated improved Orr immensely for me.

They’re saying it(pent/shelt) was nerfed because Champions have taken the place (or at least prevent) of mob waves, which means there are less mobs for them to kill, eliminating the chance of them getting loot from those mobs.

I guess that would mostly just hurt the classes/players that were really good at aoeing, and dealing enough damage to the waves of risen before they all got killed.

The fun thing about DAoc dragons is that dragon would call someone out in chat, and basically let everyone know that they called out person, and anyone around them was about to get blasted…..of course the person who was called out can run to a large group of people and get them all killed, but that was a no no.

It’s poor design IMO…the terminology and concept does lead to confusion and since some of those items can only be purchased via a currency that takes a long time to obtain…why not give users the message “Unique : You can only equip one of these items on your character”…or something like that…prevent users from making a move they will regret and then resent the game for it.

Sloppy programming/design IMO.

It is NOT sloppy programming/design.

It’s a well-known term in the MMO world and because some people may not know its meaning because they’re new to MMOs doesn’t mean it’s sloppy programming or design.

Actually, it is a sloppy design, and it has nothing whatsoever with the term “Unique” being widely known or not. It is a sloppy design, because there’s no reason for the rings to be unique in the first place. In this case the mechanics that has a possibility of being confusing to some players is here only to be confusing to some players. It serves no other purpose at all.

Not all MMo’s use the term Unique when referring to items that you can only equip one of, and there are some MMO’s where the term unique has a different meaning. I think the most recent MMO I played use one of a kind for items that a person can only equip one of.

Nice vid, I guess I can’t stay in this place no longer than 30min. I originally came to this place because I saw the bags they dropped had a chance to give charged cores and charged lodestones, but after seeing the low drop rate, I didn’t want to risk it, so I sold them instead. Though, I’m surprised they sell for over triple the price of Heavy loot bags, and Heavy supply bags, it it the drop rate, or is there a greater chance of pulling something good from heavy bags of skritt shinies?

Lower ecto/rare prices = less people farming for gold in order to buy ectos for crafting and other purposes.

Why one chest per toon instead of account?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lambent.6375

Lambent.6375

Yeah. The chests should definitely be account based. People seem to farm these events with 5 different characters, and this is destroying the economy. Furthermore, the events become unplayable because people guest different servers to farm the events.
Why they are not account bound is beyond me.

The economy will change, but I don’t know about destroy.

On one hand, ectos are now cheaper, so people who need ectos to craft exotic gear, or other items will spend less time grinding rares/silver, and sold crafted exotic gear will also be a bit cheaper.

On other other hand people who make money off of selling rares/ectos will now make less.

I’m not an economist though, and my opinion may be biased since I craft most of my gear, and I don’t run dungeons.

@Leamas

The reason I don’t think the decrease in loot rewards has anything to do with the recent changes to loot tagging, and people not getting drops is because during the krait event at splintered coast, which received similar changes, there was only two people participating, me being one of them, and I still noticed a great decrease in material drops due to the regular krait mobs being supplemented/replaced with vets.

@ other posters.

I have no problems with the increased difficulty, in fact, I think they should add this system to many other events. (maw being one, the final boss in that event drops in like 20 sec) The only issue I have with it is the overall rewards being decreased due to a decrease in normal mobs. And when I rewards, I’m generally talking about mat drops, and coin drops, not equip drops. (since you get one of those every time you drop a champ)

And no, I don’t spend all my time at pent/shelt, I only went there when I needed some money/mats to craft a set of exotic for my character, since I don’t do dungeons. (Because of this I hardly ever sell ectos or mats unless I’m sure I wont need them)

Cursed Shore Penn / Shelter Changes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lambent.6375

Lambent.6375

All I know is I rolled through there for the first time since patch and saw a wipe in progress at Shelter’s Gate, with about 15 players already dead. For this reason alone, I support the changes.

Agreed!!! It’s starting to feel like a level 80 end-game zone again. Orr as it was back when I first entered in October, PLUS these more difficult events would make Orr perfect. I hated it when they nerfed Orr in to the ground. It’s supposed to be hard, it’s supposed to be tedious, it’s the game’s end zone for the love of God. It’s NOT supposed to be easy!!! For the first time since playing the game, I actually went down AND was defeated at Shelter last night, as were so many others. It was awesome!!! Not, because I was defeated, but because it was actually a challenge for a change. Previous to this patch I could solo Shelter, and as a necro that’s not saying much for the event. This is not what I would expect from an event in this area and this part of the patch, for me, is a welcome addition. When they nerfed Orr there a month or two ago, I stopped doing Promenade of the Gods because it went from challenging to nothing more than routine grind. The event was a mere shadow of it’s original glory. Haven’t tried it since yesterday’s patch, but I can hope it was also reverted to be more challenging.

As for the OP…

Maybe tonight was an odd night with it being patch day and all, or maybe I’m unlucky. My nightly haul of money was at least half of what it normally is. In an hour I’d roughly get around 4-5g which is about the norm for anyone who farms there.

This is an obscene amount of money compared to what many of us get. I might get that much gold in 2 weeks of play. I think it has less to with champions, which certainly does affect it, but it probably has more to do with the patch balancing kill credit a bit better so that high-burst damage dealers don’t have substantially better chance to get better loot. “Credit for killing creatures is now easier to receive in situations when many players are attacking a single target.” My hope was that they would dial low earners up, but if they dialed high earners down, I’m fine with that too, as long as everyone’s on an even playing field. I know last night was the first time I’ve received a rare in about a month (Since a couples days after that last major patch)…granted it could be just the post patch luck thing that tends to happen where drops seem to be typically better immediately after a major update.

I was doing pent/shelt yesterday, and the main reason I figured I was getting less loot was due to the fact that some of the normal waves of mobs you would get were now being replaced by champion mobs, which usually give you 1 blue when you finally manage to take them down. And no, I’m not one of those people who made 4-5 gold a day before these changes, then only way I could get decent loot was if I grouped, but now I no longer need to do that.

It was the same for that krait event near teq’s spawn point in sparkfly fen thatpeople often get large scales from. I use to get around 5-10 scales per an event, now I only get around 3 due to a large amount of time being spent fighting vet/champ mobs.

(I don’t do this event to farm large scales, I’m just using it as an example)

Again, I find pent/shelt more enjoyable now, but on the downside I make less from them now, which is what I did the events for in the first place.

Seems the amount of gold you make per day depends on what you do in game daily

If you’re the type that roams all over open world doing world events and regular events, you probably wont make much more than a gold a day, unless you get lucky and pull something from a chest.

If you farm pent/shelt, and other Orr events (what was it, 1g an hour?) it’s been about a month since I did.

Dungeon running: I don’t do dungeons, but I read all the time, this is where most people make their gold,, aside from playing the TP.

There are zone chests and zone keys (like the dwarven keys) already.

But they don’t have the features I included in the original post.

Are you talking about Lockpicks from GW1?

That was…painful.

Yes, specifically, I’m talking about these. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Key

I don’t really see the harm aside from it taking up developer resources.

It would be a nice little addition for open world players, and it would get people to visit other zones if there is a specific item they want.

If someone doesn’t want to bother with it, they can just sell any keys they get on the TP.

Is there a chance we will get zone specific keys and chest in the future?

The keys can drop from veteran/champion mobs depending on what map you’re on, and 2-3 chest can spawn somewhere randomly on the map.

These chest can contain the standard blues/greens with the chance to get a rare, and also have a small chance to give a weapon/armor that’s unique to that zone/map chest?

So why would anyone play an MMO and not want to do anything that involves the MM part of said MMO… Don’t get it.

Dungeons are easy, the easiest ones can be completed in 30 mins, even if you have never been before and are willing to listen and learn.

If you find a group that ISN’T doing speed clears, then you will be better off, since they will probably be more patient with you. Stop hating the game for being multiplayer, or find a different game.

People socialize and group with others in open world and WvWvW too.

I don’t like dungeons, why do I need to do them to get dungeon tokens?

Because apparently you want dungeon tokens.

I think the word entitlement has been a bit overused in the last few years.

The main issue is that some people don’t want to participate in an area of game play they normally do not participate in for the sake of achieving a monthly. Why? because people play games for enjoyment, and that area of activity is not enjoying to them.

Hopefully this sill be alleviated when they are able to give people an option of choosing which task they want to complete, but until then, people are going to complain.

I didn’t mind missing the monthly at first, but now with Laurels, things are different. Just posting to say that I agree with the OP about instances. (If you’re wondering what I do in game)

DE’s
Dragons, shadow behemoth, etc
crafting (whenever I have the resources)
material gathering
/dancing in the middle of nowhere
leveling new characters.
