He’s more likely referring to the magic find changes.
MF is going to an account bonus… This is good news for farmers. They can get the same MF bonus as well as do more damage while wearing better gear. So it is unlikely he is complaining about a positive change for farmers…
Champion loot getting boosted…
Dungeon paths being equalized to all be rewarding…
MF being changed to allow you to get good loot while wearing real gear….
New tiers of mats to farm…This is like a farmers dream blog… I honestly have no idea what he could possibly be complaining about unless he was a CoF p1 farmer.
My current concerns about the Magic Find changes.
An open world player who uses magic find typically has about 170-200%+ Magic find consistently.( at least in my case)
After months of playing with MF, I’ve become accustomed to this, and some may say it doesn’t may a difference, but I feel like it does.
After they scrape the MF from our gear, how much of it are we going to get as an account buff, and how long will it take to build up? Am I going to have to run around for months with far less Magic Find then what I’ve become accustomed to?
The food will stay.
“The food temporary buffs will still be in the game too”

MF gear is a detriment to everyone you group with. Its selfish and it doesnt help that much, its still dependant on RNG. Its a good decision by Anet.
Irrelevant if you don’t use it in groups, or just don’t party at all. Also irrelevant if the group as a whole uses MF, or simply doesn’t care.
Oh look… another thread complaining about an issue that doesn’t even exist… Must be the day for that…
You will be compensated. You don’t know when the change is happening. You still may have months and months to use your current item before the changes happen.
Did I mention they already said you will be compensated?
That doesn’t really help them out if they don’t know what they’re being compensated with yet.
As for now, I don’t think there is any harm in people/us throwing out their/our opinions or feelings on the subject before anet starts implementing the new MF system.
Speaking of, I also applied all of my catcher skins, and wing skins to MF back pieces, wonder how that will work out.
Champion Rewards
Champions in the game will be updated so each will always drop a guaranteed reward box for any player that qualifies for a reward from the boss. This chest will contain things like crafting materials, skill points, unique skins, lodestones, and more. This change will make champions more rewarding, and will make playing in Orr and Southsun Cove (where events can scale up to add champions) more exciting and fruitful for guilds and players joining together in the open world.
Yeah, that’s just not going to happen. People are still going to take the path of least resistance (Queensdale) for champions unless there’s more to this than has been said.
If they change the pent/shelt timers back to where they use to be, people will flock back to cursed shore. As it is now, people don’t do champs in queens because they are easier, they do them because pent/shet occurs less often than champ events in queensdale from my experience.
I spent 25 Laurels on Dye Packs, got no Rare Dyes, get over it.
Your fault for tossing your laurels to rng? You got what you paid for, on the other hand, the thing we paid for is being taken away.
Not saying we wont be compensated, because I don’t know, but those situations are not comparable.
Sorry for the not-up-to-speed question, but did I miss an announcement? I didn’t know MF gear was going to be changed. I thought the achievements were just a supplement to MF.
Thanks for any insight!

Account Magic Find
We want to remove the choice players are currently being forced to make on their gear: “Do I go with better stats, or better loot?” This isn’t in the spirit of cooperation that Guild Wars 2 is all about. As such, we’ll be removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat that improved the odds of rare drops for all your characters.
You can improve your account magic find through the account achievement reward system and from consumable items found in game. As your magic find increases, it will require more consumables to keep raising it higher. In the near future, we’ll detail the system we’ll use to replace the existing magic find items. Our goal will be to have as little disruption as possible to those who currently own items with a magic find stat on them.
In the new system?
I don’t know what is going to happen to the gear, so I wont comment on it yet.
Personally I’ve grown accustomed to running 180-200% MF in open world depending on what I’m wearing.
Aside from the gear issue I’d be pretty down if after removing MF from our gear, I end up stuck with something like 60-100% MF, or less, and end up having to spend months to get my MF back where it use to be, if that is even possible since the word is they will be achievement bound now.
As for all the rune sets and gear, I don’t even know, I have about 3 MF rune sets spread out on MF gear, and non MF gear, no clue what will happen with runes though.
I love how people say the sets will become useless. Guys, ANet will not just remove the stat and leave you with 2 stats ascended items! The items will be changed into a new stat set, fixed or selectable as you want or something.
The reason some of us may be saying “useless” is maybe because a lot of us already have spare sets of armor, with any stat we would want, the only reason we have or MF set is for the sake of MF, once the stat becomes something else, it becomes nothing but a waste of space, as we probably wont use it if we already have other sets with our ideal stats on them.
If they want to change with as little disruption as possible, I say leave the gear in and ut a cap on MF to prevent people from stacking too much.
Personally, I wont be satisfied unless I have at least the same MF as my gear gives now the day this is implemented.
I’m worried once they trash my MF gear I spent time gathering, I’ll end up with some chumpy 60% MF.
In the inevitable back-and-forth that usually follows a circuit interruption I’ve seen it said by multiple people that the chain is about leveling alts quickly because “I hate grinding”.
This made me laugh. I do run round with the zerg on my server a bit, and while it is fun for a while and is a good way to level alts, it doesn’t exactly level them quickly. And once you’ve done each event a couple of times the boredom quickly sets in. Funny how they say they hate grinding yet will run this same circle again and again and again … seems to me there are many, many more interesting ways to level in this game. But what do I know? Each to their own.
I don’t think it’s about the time it takes, it’s just the fact that you’re always around a lot of people which is what makes it better, compared to the other option of running through empty zones doing hearts, and the occasional DE when you see it.
I think it may just be the bags from WvW that give kites.
I’ve opened around 100+ heavy moldy bags since the event started and haven’t got a kite from them.
Why do they want to kill these champions at all ? If they want to increase their monthly champs, why not simply go to Maelstrom where there are more champions on a short respawn timer and close from each others.
Unless it has been nerfed or deserted, I haven’t been there for a while.
If I use myself as a reference, a large number of people probably don’t know much about these zones, like when events occur, how many you need etc, because when they first got to the zone it was pretty empty.
There was no one there to call events or anything, so I just did the hearts and left.
As for queens dale, I’m there for reasons other than champs, I completed the monthly a while back, I’m slowly leveling my alt there.
If it’s queensdale, he may be talking about something like someone starting boar, and then someone else starting troll after the person just announced that they started boar, rather than just heading to boar, then doing troll together.
Meaning the people at boar will likely miss out on troll, and the peeps at troll will probably miss out on boar.
Queensdale is slightly more populated than it usually is on YB, but I haven’t seen any name calling or anything.
Yeah, I don’t know if anything will come of it, but I would be grateful if they removed the level requirement as well.
Some of my master crafts are on low level mules, and I really don’t want to learn those crafts all over again on my main character, lol.
“Why not just level your characters?”
Because I don’t like leveling, and I feel craft leveling is a waste,.
I don’t have much of an issue with it, but I think one a day is too little, two a day sounds more like it, and you have to go to two different places of power.
You can buy back pieces off the TP, if that helps alleviate the amount of scrapes you need.
The lightning and sun one can be bought for around 3-4gold on the tp, but the wind one is pretty expensive at 8+ gold
So far I only have around 105 scrapes, and 68 of those came from gem store kites.
So far I’ve only gotten 3 quartz the last two times I’ve mined the home instance.
Yes.
I would play less if they were brought out every 3 months.
Might want to try this, only 602 karma for 25 uses.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mining_Pick
“Extremely efficient at gathering resources and uncovering rare compoments. "
Nah, people will get bored of the after a while, and will want new shinies.
You should check out the wind and lightning catcher skins as well, they look really nice.
Just log on the other character, open up your achievement panel, and get a new one.
Just realized some of my crafters aren’t level 80..yeah, I didn’t think about this beforehand. T_T
Or maybe they just want the perma quartz node.
Post I made about this in another thread, crossed out some irrelevant stuff, but it may still seem out of place.
Have you ever been “that guy” at a party of get together. You know, the one that keeps winning something over and over, to the point were even the onlookers are getting annoyed, followed by the phrase, “let someone else have a try”, or “share the love”.
Or someone is playing a pick up game of basketball, and making a lot of shots, but eventually start passing the ball to their teammates just so they can get a shot in.
What I’m saying is I don’t see anything unusual about people trading wins after one person has won a lot in a casual game within a game like this , as it happens in real life all the time. I think it’s just a human thing, especially if they see other people can benefit greatly from this.
Now, if they are calling the winner names, and what not, that’s too far.
Try sending in a ticket to support?
People like this are the reason I spent 2 hours in the race this morning winning over and over again. I already got all the achievements and the money isn’t that great, but the satisfaction of winning a game and feasting on all those tears was just too much fun.

Hello!
I just had to endure two people crying for a mesmer for their JP for the better half of an hour.
Mind=Blown
When I questioned why this guy was so eager to complete this JP he replied with “For the achievement, *so I can get skins and gear”.*
/facepalm
A completionist that wants it on a silver platter.
The reason I’m posting this is so I can A ) Share this thorn in my eye and B ) So I can pose the question, isn’t this incredibly counter-productive? On one side you’ve got the developers and they’re faulty for letting this happen and on the other side, the players in question that would rather fuss and cry for an hour over doing the puzzle themselves.
Confusing, the reward this time around is a quartz node, maybe he wanted it for that?
it’s a mat that will be used to craft items in the future, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people bad at JP or jumping in general to ask for help.
To feel like I’m actually making a difference (The WvW bonuses aren’t really noticed)
I went to WvW one time to complete a monthly, and it basically consisted of running around taking keeps, and fighting enemy servers. (obviously) This was cool, but it seems like keeps are taken so fast, as soon as you leave your borderlands, the enemy takes them all back in an instant. Kind of seemed like those 3+ hours spent fighting in the YB’s borderlands were kind of pointless.
Compared to pre toa daoc, there was a good reason for PvErs to go to RvR..
1. Darkness Falls – One of the best exp, and money making areas at the time, and it was an open dungeon for mid to max level players, but you had to own the majority of keeps in RvR to have it open. best of all, a group of players who wanted to get DF open could plan a strategic attack on a keep, and open the dungeon open for the whole realm.
2. due to the risk of being killed by players, some of the best exp areas in the game were in RvR zones, as well as nice areas to gather materials for some crafts.
3. Relics, and realm unity – relics were a big thing in daoc, and if a realm was having a go at one of your relics, you knew it. There were alliances in daoc that would report when large numbers were attacking their keep, and if it was over 100+ on one keep, they are most likely preparing to go for your relic. Plus, it took a while to take keeps, so people had enough time to wrap up what they were doing, and go defend.
Not saying GW2 should do anything like that, because it’s a different game, and things wouldn’t work the same, but in GW2, I sort of feel like WvW is pointless when I’m out there.
Right now it seems like WvW is only for those who like WvW for the sake of WvWing. (if anyone understands what I mean by that, lol)
I don’t have a problem with celestial becoming the new go to MF set. The other MF sets still work the same, so it’s really not an issue to me. Those who really want to use MF no longer have to worry about carrying two sets of armor if they get celestial. (Unless celestial becomes the new thing to beat on)
Though, it would be nice if they made power/condition the dominant stat on explorer and traveler gear, while keeping the MF at 3% per piece.
The celestial armor will probably be replacing my zerk armor/magic find rune set.
Eh, that first post was my reaction after using probably one of the worst methods to getting fortune scraps. (exchanging mats for boxes) Not counting the scraps I got through gem store purchase, I ended up with 18 scrapes out of 6 kite fortunes that had dropped for me.
Finding out that back pieces were in the tp pretty much killed anything I had against fortune scraps since they are only needed for a helmet skin.
All were from monster drops, I never got any from the baskets.
deleted my post for obvious reasons, lol. it’s getting late here.
and, I just realized you can buy back pieces on the tp for pretty cheap, so there is that.
Just need fortune scraps for the helmet.
25 kite fortunes = 68 scraps
68/250
Going off those numbers, around 1600 gems for a skin? 1400 if you count the ones you will probably get from open world, and you may get lucky, and get a golden ticket.
I still think I prefer dragon coffers, for now, it’s only the first day after all.
you can buy scraps with gems…..so in essense you can buy the new helmet/catcher back skins………………which is what everyone whined for during DB.
anyway……the new zone is fun and the elemental jumping skill mechanics are awesome.
the new achievement awards are great as well……..earnable skins, something q whole bunch of other people whined for.….and you can still win these things through the RNG that always existed.
i see no reason to whine about rewards now……………you can get these skins in all ways (rng, gem store, earned).
the overall achievement is a little jump-puzzle heavy………but its a nice change of pace.
I didn’t.
;Lambent.6375:I think tickets are getting easier to get now that a large number of people have gotten the ticket(s) they wanted. The prices of boxes on tp are starting to drop below 2s 20c, and I think the event still has a couple weeks to go.
Well, I’m about to buy 25 kites and see what happens, but, earlier.
I used about 600+ mithril, 300+ elder logs, and 200+ ancient logs. Not exact numbers, but I ended up with 28 supply boxes ,and got two kite fortunes out of those 28, and ended up with 4 fortune scrapes from the two.
Just got on to check this place out, yeah, I hate this place.
Edit: Change of heart after learning more, there are some things I like/dislike about both.
(edited by Lambent.6375)
Is this about sanctum sprint?
I’d like to add something:
I really love the look of the new helmet we can buy for 250 fortune scraps (or 1 golden ticket). As I don’t think I’m lucky enough I’d like to work for that helmet… well work, ahem, is the word which fits.
Dulfy mentioned that baskets have a droprate of 1/10 (or less) of the fortune scraps. This means that I would probably have to open 2500 baskets for the ticket. In 25 days this are 100 baskets per day.
I really don’t know how to get the helmet without missing the new zone, the awesome
looking race, the scavenger hunt,… I can’t play 24/7. I’d have to buy it in the TP for 8000 gems?! omg.
I guess I can scrap that helmet I really wanna have in order to enjoy the content this month. If it were permanent, I could farm it in my own pace and still would be able to participate in all the new content. I really like that there’s always new things to do, but having that new content around forever wouldn’t really hurt the game imho. People would still go to the new event. People would still have to put a lot of time into the basket-hunt in order to get the helmet.
Well, peeps was asking for no rng. :p (actually, I liked the dragon bash system)
Unless we can her back items and helms from the supply crates as well, than again, they are far more costly compared to dragon coffers.
Some of the more popular event timers don’t indicate when the Ulgoth event chain is starting, they only do so after he has spawned. So most people don’t come until Ulgoth has spawned, because they have no idea the chain in occurring until then.
Your current achievement points will count, put you can only pick up one chest reward per day.
Say you have 3,000 points, I think that qualifies you for 6 chest, but you will have to wait 6 days before you get them all.
We may het them on tues if they implement the patch before daily reset, and that counts as day 1, and when the reset occurs it will count as day 2.
Or they could just make it so we don’t get the first chest until daily reset.
Ah, that makes sense, I thought you got 1%, and that was it.
<applies burn cream>
<smiles>
<Holds 1% magic find between left hand index finger, and thumb>
What am I going to do with this?
Thought it would be something like 2% every 1k points, with a cap.
I guess we might get more % at higher achievement point rewards that haven’t been shown yet.
Do you already have the other mats needed? The mystic coins would be the least of my worries, aside from the scroll.
