They’re easy. All of them, even with random pugs. They’re not require support-class in party, 5 dps easily can do everything without any troubles (few tricky bosses, but 5 dps still can do them).

If don’t create new dungeons – add new difficulty (add Agony mechanic, so ascended stuff don’t use just for fractals) with unique reward and twice (or whatever) tokens or new value for something.

Nah, keep agony in fractals.

Money is not always the sole motivator to those in a queens zerg.

Some are there because they’ve always been in queens, way before the new champ loot, and they don’t mind running with the zerg.

Some are on their low levels doing it for the exp

Some just flat out like the look of the place over frostgorge and CS, etc.

Lambent.6375

A large number of people in queens are there because they were there even before champ loot was put in, and the champs there are easy to get to, and plentiful in number. Also, most of the champs are tied to events so the players are getting event completion, and karma as well.

If someone were to suggest another zone for a champ train to to, Bloodtide coast might be a candidate, depending on the spawn time of these events. (no idea how often the events occur, so it may end up being a pretty bad zone)

Kill the Deep Sea Shark
Kill the rampaging jungle troll Either there is a way to start him that’s not on the wiki, or he is on a long respawn timer.
Protect Bill and Hekja as they clear Risen from the area
Kill the crazed champion canyon spider queen
Kill the giant blood ooze
Slay the Orrian Terror from the deep

I’m not sure, but I think there might be another champ I’ve seen before that isn’t on dulfy’s list.

If bloodtide turns out to be a good spot, someone would probably have to popularize it as a place to get decent karma along with champ boxes before people will start to move there.

I some times throw up my commander tag and scream out in chat that troll/oak is at 50% health (whilst full health) when the zerg is waiting at boar or some thing.

That usually derails the Queensdale champ zerg train quite nicely.

Moral of the story. Frostgorge sound is the place to be.

How do you insure new players, or players just trying to level their characters don’t get caught up in this as well? The zerg is not solely composed of 80’s.They would spend a little extra on wp, but no biggie I guess.

To the OP: new players that attack a champ are not going to get fussed at, they are going to DIE. No new player will solo a queensdale champ.

You are just trolling to get something nerfed that you don’t like to paticipate in.

^ This.

I would like to start seeing some screenshots of entire chat windows of actual new players actually being abused and not some troll who purposely provoked the zerg, because all the times I’ve been in queens, the “farmers” in the zerg have been giving advice to new players, showing them event locations, etc. Now, some people don’t like that, but I certainly haven’t seen them being abused.

Most of the drama and arguments occur between veterans players. One group of players wants to form an organized cooperative group so everyone can get the most of of events (a zerg), while the other group of players will tell them they don’t own the zone, and they will do what they want. Then they both start arguing about which of them is leaving a bad impression on new players. (I think I took a screen shoot of this , lol) /shrug

Like I say in mots threads, insulting someone just because they killed a champ out of order is never warranted, but on that note.

One of the reasons these zergs form in the first place is to avoid inconveniencing each other. People don’t just participate in the queens zerg for loot, there are also people there for exp, and karma, including the people who are there because they’ve always been in queensdale, even before the champ loot buffs.

On the other side of things you have people who kill champs out of order on purpose, and then begin to taunt the zerg in map chat for the sole purpose of trying to get a reaction out of them.

Sure, people could all split up and do there own thing, but then a situation is created where people are missing out on events, exp, karma, champ boxes, fighting over champs, etc.

There are some bad apples in the bunch, but one of the major reasons these zergs form is due to player cooperation, but there are numerous threads popping up on the forums attempting to demonize the champ trains.

I can understand why some people have problems with champ trains, but I think generalizing them all as rude players that bark at anyone they come across in order to strengthen their arguments is unfair.

I think it’s wrong to place the sole blame for jormag overflow on farmers. It didn’t go into overflow at all during the SAB update. Jormag is going into overflow mainly because a ton of people are trying to get their hands on dragonite ore and ectos for crafting, and more recently, they announced world bosses will be buffed in general, now even more people will be attempting to get into world boss events before the buff comes.

it’s not like world boss events going into overflow is something new, when they first added guaranteed rares, high pop servers were going into overflow ever single time, and back then people were blaming guest, and this was before they had reduced the map caps for a short while.

Teq went into over flow a couple nights ago on YB, but there aren’t any champ farmers there hidden away int some underground tunnel, it went into overflow because a lot of people are going for dragonite, and ecto.

I think ascended gear should be account bound, it would help people with multiple characters out a bit.

If it’s account bound, I don’t think it will stop people from wanting to obtain new ascended gear because eventually they may get tired of moving the items between characters, and they will also want to use different skins, and try out different builds.

Not many, go to a champ farm and take a look. I’ve only seen a few people with one, and one person had just got lucky and got one from a chest in WvW.

I’m not one to go to a couple champ farms only on my server and draw conclusions on the entire population of gw2 like what seems to be the habit here on the forums.
I made no claims as to the percentage of people that have it already or that they were in a large abundance, only that they are out there already. I have seen people with them, people in guild getting them and people here on the forums reporting they made them already.
While they are not everywhere (yet) and no one can claim any percentage of the population, they are being made already was what I intended to say there. When it was supposed to be something that was intended to be a challenge or time-consuming task for people who wanted one.

What I was trying to say was it did not fail, the majority of people don’t have an ascended yet, even among grinders. Yes, some people already have one, either because they got lucky, or they had the resources to craft one, and they probably burned a large amount of their resources when it came to getting that one weapon.

And unfortunately for some(I wish they were account bound) , ascended weapons are soul bound on equip, meaning they will have to obtain all the mats they spent once again to craft another one, because they’re not going to stop at one, and may even have to level another craft to 500.

Due to the fact that Anet made it so deldrimor and spirit planks can be bought on the tp, I think anet already figured some people were going to craft one in less than a week. If they really wanted to lock people in they would have made those account bound as well.

Lambent.6375

I think it’s because they want Ascended gear to be time consuming to create, and they have envisioned it as a tool to keep the grinders around (as a goal to give them something to grind for). Since the grinders already have a lot of gold (they do keep grinding), they would be able to buy Ascended weapons the first day people made them and go back to asking ArenaNet “What’s next?”.

Remains to be seen what is ArenaNet going to do when the grinders have a full Ascended set (weapons, armor, accessories), turn and ask the developers, “What’s next?”.

It’s already failed as that. How many grinders or rich players have at least 1 Ascended weapon already? Wow, it kept them busy for a whole week. This is the problem with adding new tiers of gear.
Whats next? I’m sure no new gear this year as Colin said…but maybe some by the time the 2nd anniversary rolls around.

Not many, go to a champ farm and take a look. I’ve only seen a few people with one, and one person had just got lucky and got one from a chest in WvW./The people I know who already crafted have one aren’t really grinders. They just run dungeons a lot (post cof 1) and the gold and champ bags that add up from that seem to be underrated.

Limit Champion Boxes to 20 per day

in Suggestions

Posted by: Lambent.6375

Lambent.6375

There’s no need to limit Champion Boxes to 20 per day. What they should do is implement diminishing returns on individual Champions so that subsequent kills will give inferior versions of Champ bags until they stop dropping altogether (around kill #3 or 4, perhaps). That will encourage people to move on to different maps rather than just staying in the same map for hours and hours.

Or simply increase the scaling on champs. I’ve run with the zerg one round in Frostgorge (I was at the WP near the fish to unlock it and decided to see what it was all about). By the time we got to the Wurm, the thing was already at 50% health when I arrived. And the next one (no idea what it was) was dead by the time I reached it (and I knew what WP to use). If it takes, let’s say, 3 minutes to kill a champ with a group of max 5, it should take 3 minutes to kill a champ with a group of 50. And not 30 seconds.

^ I agree with this.

Lambent.6375

Having started the crafting process I have to say that it doesn’t seem that hard. But that just makes it even more annoying. The hardcore’s will get their gear in about a week, and once again be left with nothing to do. The casuals on the other hand will be waiting for some time, and will be equally upset.

Anet will fail to appease both groups once again, and will actually just disappoint everyone.

They will have to craft gear for the rest of their characters, and there is only so many mats you can have stored up. Plus, they will be prepping for ascended armor. I don’t think there are many players that have these type of resources, even among farmers. It’s not like that have all the time in the world to play just because they happen to be a farmer.

I don’t know what happened when ascended was first introduced, since I didn’t purchase gw2 until mid December, and ascended was already a tier in game when I started, but from videos I’ve watched, I’m under the impression that a lot of the truly hardcore people jumped ship long ago.

no – its just imbalanced
thats why all you guyz farm it

when everyone and there dog farm only 1-2 spots in game because thats the most profitable and ignore all the content we have like worldbosses, dungeons, fractals, JPs , WvW ….. than there is something wrong with this 1-2 spots and they have to be nerfed

simple logic

why you should have more than the players which actual playing the game while you playing like a bot farming clearly bugged champs? Or should they rly die in 2-3 seconds? and spawn faster than normal mobs?

all this unique champions out in the world need higher respawn time like 15+ minutes

People are no longer ignoring world bosses, dungeons, jps, wvw, etc. If someone isn’t doing any of those, it’s probably because they just don’t like them.

The number of people running in champ trains now is far less than the people who were running champ trains during the queen’s festival events.

The reason people run trains in CS and FG is because simple routes have already been figured out, and they drop exotic bags 100% of the time.

The reason they run the in Queensdales is because Queens has always been a popular zone, and people have been killing champs there long before the arrival of champ loot.

There is also this.

In Guild Wars 2 there are no alliances, and there are no options to query how many people are in a zone, and there are few ways to communicate to a large amount of players at once.

it’s hard to find out what large amounts of players are up to, and it’s much easier just to have a pre determined gathering spot, like queensdale, and FSG, and also LA somewhat.

Hm, i just need emp crystals apparently, and time. So im on track.

How you say?

IM JUST PLAYING THE GAME

The cool thing to do now is salvage everything you get, go to different zones (you wont just get 80 loot all the time) . Even in wvw killing lower players gives me lower end loot. Or i get badges, which then i buy prints and sell on tp, then buy lower loot to salvage.

I’m playing a game – fractals. I get ~100 bloodstones, 49 empyreal fragments, 0 dragonite ores and 1-2g for 1-2 hours of work.

I can also do arah, arguably the hardest dungeon. Average completion time for a pug would be 30-45 minutes while getting 50 bloodstones, 20 empyreal fragments, 0 dragonite ores and 2g.

Sounds okay to you compared to someone who spam 1 and gets >20x more for miniscule effort?

If you’re speaking of people who participate in world boss events, they are not getting the same thing you are. Dungeons reward the highest amount of empyreal fragments, anyone who does open world activities, but doesn’t do dungeons will take much longer to gather empyreal fragments, since jumping puzzles, and open world basic chest only give 2-4 per chest, and are limited. (I don’t know how much mini dungeon chest give, haven’t been able to get in one yet)

For those that don’t like jumping puzzles or dungeons, you can also get 2-4 Empyreal from most of these basic chest sitting around in open world. (yes, some of them are tied to jumping puzzles, but a lot are not)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_basic_chests#Kryta
You can also do these on multiple characters. (if they are level 80)

Ones I’ve opened myself and confirmed.

Queensdale

Altar Brook Vale in wolf cave north of Crossing Waypoint
Altar’s Windings at harpy nest

Demongrub Pits 3 chests 1 lootbag, look for small passages for 2 of the chests, first is in the spider webs (jumping puzzle, but it’s really, really easy)

Beggar’s Burrow Enter cave from behind grave yard, Near the bottom of cave, fight a Veteran Bandit.

Hirathi Hinterlands

Ruins of Holy Demetra Northwest of Matyr’s Tomb Point of Interest
Thunder Rock near Watchlin Armory Point of Interest

Fireheat Rise

Apostate Wastes southwest corner, guarded by harpies
Rebel’s Seclusion Guarded by a Veteran Ascalonian Enchanter. (This is actually a splendid chest) <— There is also one not on the list that you will pass when going to this one.
Most of the chest on that list probably contain Empyreal , but the ones above are just the ones I have managed to open so far.

“If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it”

I think most people have a realistic chance of obtaining ascended weapons, it will take much longer for some, but I still think it’s realistic. Unless they decide not to do world bosses, not kill any champions, ot gather materials, etc.

(vs ascended back pieces, where if you don’t do fractals, you’re not getting one)

^ Of course, this is just assuming the t7 drops from these things aren’t going to be minimal.

Yeh, it would suck hard if we end up having to salvage 20-30+ exotics.

At the least, I’m hoping they come off exotics at about the same rate ectos come off rares.

Yeah, unless the devs decided to make a sudden change, that 10 ectos should be 10 steel ingots, I’ll edit the wiki to reflect what we saw in the preview for now.
