I think the name “revenant” should be interpreted in a metaphorical sense. They embody long-gone legends and bring them back from the “death”. That doesn’t mean the revenant himself is someone who returns from the death.
“Dead” can mean many more things than the end of a life. For example the phrase “punk is not dead” or “Latin is a dead language”. We’re all smart enough to understand that Latin is a language and languages aren’t living beings, so they can’t technically die, but obviously when we say “Latin is a dead language” we’re talking about the fact that Latin isn’t an actively spoken language anymore.
I think that’s how we should look at the GW2 revanants and their abilities to bring back “dead” legends.

1. Which character/profession would you rather be?
My guardian.
2. Which game mechanic would you rather not have to contend with?
Rubbing people to bring them back from the death. Or being rubbed by people to come back from the death. 0_o
3. What currently unimplemented game mechanic would you wish was implemented?
Being able to have smexytime. I can’t image a life without smexytime.
4. Which NPC would you be most likely to seek out and befriend or clobber or ________?
Who cares about NPCs? I’d chill with my guildies.
5. Which zone would you choose to call home?
Our guild’s guild hall.
Because 3/5 votes for a kick is perfectly reasonable.
Keyfarming has already been nerfed. You can’t do a complete key run in 20 minutes anymore, unless you have tomes of knowledge, which you will run out of eventually.
Instead of patching or nerfing lucrative farms, Anet should actually buff other rewards so these farms are no longer desirable.
It’s ridiculous that if I want to obtain a bit of wealth in this game I have to resort to farming or playing the TP. With farming I can make 10g every 30 minutes. Even the best of the best of the best dungeon speedrunners can’t make that amount of gold in such a short amount of time.
Obviously the fastest way to make gold in GW2 is to take out the good ol’ credit card and that’s probably never going to change, but just playing GW2 normally should seriously be a lot more rewarding than it is now.
Anet, if you want to discourage people to do farms like these, you should encourage people to play the game normally by making the rewards for the “normal” activities more rewarding! Don’t nerf these farms until every rewards in the game sucks equally bad, buff the other rewards until every reward is at least somewhat decent/worthwhile!
If people like the OP want to grind for the wings they still can. Grind for a few hours to get the gold needed to convert to gems and then get the wings that way. Voilla, you just got yourself some wings that you worked really hard for! Congrats!
Me? I rather just “grind” 1 hour extra in real life in the weekend (working as a bartender) and get my wings that way. And don’t you dare tell me your stupid in-game grind is more meaningful than my 1 hour extra bartending, because my bartending helps really thirsty people in real life while your in-game grinding helps no one. I think helping people get drunk is a noble cause and therefor I deserve these wings!

Guardians hands down. They are the meta choice for condi cleansing in WvW and PvE. They’re also very good at condi cleansing in PvP but less popular there.
This is all the condi cleansing that a guardian has at his disposal. No other profession comes even close to this amount of condi cleanse at their disposal:
1. Signet of Resolve (heal skill): Cure 1 condition every 10 seconds.
2. Purity (trait): Cure 1 condition every 10 seconds.
3. Absolute Resolution (trait): Removes 3 conditions from yourself and allies.
4. Pure voice: (trait): You and allies affected by shouts convert 1 condition to a boon.
5. Runes of The Trooper (rune): You and allies affected by shouts cure 1 condition.
6. Purging Flames (utility skill): Removes 3 conditions for you and 4 allies and reduces condition duration with 33%.
7. Contemplation of Purity (utility skill): Convert all your conditions to boons.
8. Smite Condition (utility skill): Cure 1 condition and damage nearby foes.
9. Bow of Truth (utility skill): Summon an arcane bow that cures conditions on you and allies.
10. “Save Yourselves!” (utility skill): Draw all conditions from nearby allies to yourself.
11. Ray of Judgement (focus 4): Cast a ray that cures 1 condition on each ally it hits.
12. Symbol of Wrath + Whirling Wrath (greatsword 4 + 2): Cure 1 condition on each ally you hit with it.
13. Cleansing Flame (torch 5): Cures up to 9 conditions on up to 3 allies.
I might have forgotten a few condi cleanse skills on guardian, these 13 are from the top of my head without looking anything up.
So there you have it, 13 sources of condi cleanse, over half of them being group condi cleanses. That is really good and no other class comes close. That said, obviously not single useful build will be able to use all 13 sources of condi cleanse, but most builds will have access to at least half of these condi cleanses, even if you go with a full offensive build you’ll still have access to most of these group condi cleanses and that is why the guardian is so good and so popular in WvW and PvE.
Don’t make an asura. You’d do your Sunrise a disservice, because of greatswords being reduced to toothpicks on asuras.
Make a big toon, such a a tall human, a norn or a charr, for maximum showiness with your Sunrise!
I like skyhammer, and was once the only person who voted for it and it got chosen.
You are a horrible horrible evil person…
I get mad at players who get mad about dumb trivial stuff.
But that’s okay, because those players spend several thousands of € on the cash shop meaning they’re directly or indirectly funding the development of the xpac that I’ve been waiting for.
I would also like to add that I’m a HUGE Legend of Zelda fanboy. Like, frikkin HUGE Legend of Zelda fanboy.
Any other Zelda fans in here?
Just use a macro for the clicking, nobody is going to give a kitten , not even Anet. I’ve been using macros for non-combat-related things since launch and never got warned nor banned. I don’t think Anet really cares about macros as long as you don’t use them in combat or at other places that might be unfair.

I’m going to just leave this here..
That was funny. But on a more serious note:
I suppose, but I still feel it is wrong to pretend to not like skimpy outfits just because it’s suddenly cool to be all “stop objectifying women” because it’s a trending thing right now.
I’m not saying that this is exactly what you are doing, but it seems that way. I’m also not saying that it is okay to treat women as objects, but this is a fantasy game set in a fictional world occupied by fictional people. They are not real people, and if I want my character’s skin showing then kitten it I will enjoy pretty pixels the game allows. Call me a pervert if you want, I don’t care, but I like the female figure’s aesthetics. It’s just the way I was born. It’s all part of the entertainment factor, and it’s not like our characters partake in sexually suggestive poses or actions.
At least, the game’s armor designs are varied enough that not all the armors are skimpy. There are plenty of ultra-conservative armor skins in the game. As the OP suggested, the game could use more, if anything.
Ah, the good old: “The only reason why people would be against skimpy armor is because it is cool to want to stop objectification of women.” I have been a feminist for over 15 years. It is not really something that magically turned up when it started being “cool”.
Why do there NEED to be skimpy armors? And why is it more okay to want to add more than to want to remove those that are already there? Yes it is fictional. But that doesn’t really change the fact that the norm in the entertainment world seems to be skimpy clothes on females, even though most females doesn’t dress at all like that in the real world. Not the mention in a world where there are murderous creatures and bandits everywhere.
Yes, GW2 is much better than most (most likely due to them having rather many feminists on their teams), so why make it worse? Adding skimpy armors for male is just as bad as adding skimpy armors for females. The difference is that in the case of females it is much more common.
Your distaste for skimpy armor has nothing to do with feminism, in fact I’m quite baffled why you’re against skimpy armor as a feminist. Most feminists I know are in favor of skimpy armor. Why? Hear me out.
The reason why women, both in real life and in fiction, wear skimpy attires is because it’s a display of power and confidence. The reason why male skimpy attires are less common is because we as a society put less value on the male body and male sexuality. The female body and female sexuality is more valuable. Because of the value we put on female sexuality, the female sexuality becomes another resource and another source of power for women to use. A woman can use her sexuality to manipulate people, her environment and society at large. It’s an incredibly useful and powerful tool that women have at their disposal but men don’t, because male sexuality does not receive the same value as female sexuality.
That is why a woman displaying her sexuality is perceived as powerful, depending on the context. The skimpy armor that my female norn wears adds to her image of being a powerful female warrior, it doesn’t subtract from it.
So why do you want to remove skimpy armor? Why do you want to take this form of power away from women? Aren’t you supposed to be a feminist?
(edited by LucosTheDutch.4819)
I would rather they decrease (or preferably completely remove) the amount of revealing female armors than adding even more revealing stuff.
Yeah screw choice! Everyone should dress the way you prefer, not the way they prefer, right?
ah, can we please have an option to not see these things?
Yes please, I’d actually pay gems for that ability.
NO! I’m going to get these wings and you MUST look at them! You shall see my glorious wings god-kitten -it! >_<

It’s going to be a gemstore item guys, and I’m happy to hear that:
http://dulfy.net/2015/02/25/gw2-upcoming-gemstore-items-from-feb-24-patch/
I do hope they’ll add white wings as well. Then I’d use the black wings for my warrior and the white wings for my guardian!
Could we PLEASE get them soon? My OCD tells me I need to have a full set of Ascended gear for my elementalist, and the only thing missing is my breather…
Please don’t mock me. OCD is a serious condition.
What you’re describing isn’t a symptom of OCD. You might very well have OCD, but you feeling the need to get an ascended breather isn’t part of it. It’s a common misconception though. A lot of people think that OCD is the urge to complete something, finish something, make something whole, etc. etc. etc. but that’s not what OCD is. I know because I have real OCD.
Instead of an “inspect gear” checkbox, they should make a checkbox for “meta” in the LFG tool. When you put the party in LFG and check the “meta” option, people that aren’t running meta builds are automatically kicked or simply cannot join the group at all. That would be a much better solution than a “inspect gear” option.
And who will decide meta? Some random player nobody knows about? Also it means that with every balance patch the lfg has to be adapted to the new meta. So quite a bit of effort for a small problem with lots of extra problems waiting around the corner.
The community will decide on meta, same as always. Not “some random players nobody knows about”. Do you know what “meta” means?
And my suggestion doesn’t have to be as complicated as you think. They could simply expand on the LFG system the same way they expanded on the TP search engine. Just add an extra menu to the LFG system similar to the image I attached to this post and allow the LFG started to fill in gear and level requirements to filter out unwanted people.
CPU is 30-40% max (say it means I have 4-5 cores active)
Engine is main bottleneck, not hardware. trust me.
Does Guild Wars 2 even use more than 4 cores? Up until recently most games didn’t even utilize more than 2 cores, nevermind more than 4. Unless GW2 uses 4 cores and the 5th is used by Windows or other programs, but that seems unlikely to me because usually the back cores won’t get used unless the front cores are already under a heavy load. 30-40% isn’t that heavy.
And I agree that the game’s engine is clearly the bottleneck. I seriously have to question the honesty of some people here who post that they’re getting 70+ FPS in heavy zerg fights such as Tequatl. That simply doesn’t seem possible to me. I’d like to see them post their rig’s specs here and the graphical settings they’re playing on.
Been having a lot of latency issues lately as an EU player. I know for a fact that it’s not related to my provider or rig, because I’ve been having the lag at multiple locations, under multiple providers, using multiple rigs.

Druid Transformation Speculation (img inc)
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: LucosTheDutch.4819
Could be a bug. Or it could be that the staff on the druid will allow him to transform into animals when HoT comes out. We’ll see.
The only type of gear check system I think the game need is one to identify which skins are being used as sometime you just want to know what a piece of armor is.
What’s wrong with just asking the person who has the skin you like? No reason to be shy.
It’s the jumping puzzle area of the Metrica Province, which has indeed always been there.
Pushing 200 most of the time, but ocassionally getting 40-70 depending on area and number of people on screen at once. I also have a highend rig, asus gtx 970, i7-4790k, 8gbs of ram, @1080p.
Reading this I feel that either my CPU or the fact I play ‘Borderless Windowed’ is keeping my FPS down. Because we have equal GPUs and the same amount of RAM, but your CPU is better.
I figured a i7-3770k overclocked to 4,5Ghz should be plenty though, but during events such as Tequatl I still drop all the way to 20FPS on average, which is way lower than your estimated 40-70 FPS.
Are you running the game on the absolute highest graphics settings? Because I am (except for super-sampling, I’m not using that).
Almost always 60 FPS except when I’m doing Tequatl, then it drops to 20 FPS or so. I do play in ‘Borderless Windowed’ mode on a dual-monitor setup with YouTube, Teamspeak, Skype and Steam on the other screen, so that probably does influence my performance.
I play on the highest graphics settings. My rig:
Intel “Ivy Bridge” i7 3770k OCed 4,5Ghz
Gigabyte GTX 970 4G Gaming Edition
8GB Kingston HyperX DRR3 RAM 1333Mhz
How are you neglected? There are no horses in GW2 so no point in celebrating them.
There are no rams either.
China sevice, nothing more.
There are plenty of rams in GW2, but you have to play WvW to see them.

The OP must be playing a different game than me, because when I walk around in Divinity’s Reach in Guild Wars 2 I see nothing else but young teenage human females who look like teens and/or Barbie dolls.
You do realize that comment was 2 years old right?
Oops. Didn’t realize this was a necro-ed thread as it was on the front page when I clicked on it.

I prefer names that fit the lore and game, since I like to feel immersed. It’s impossible these days, of course, since the maturity level of players couldn’t get any lower.
So, sorry, I don’t find many of these to be “best” by a long shot.
Some are marginally amusing but the thing is, they reflect the fact that the people that the people who create them don’t care about the game, or the genre, or the effect they have on other players.
Oh please, get over yourself.
Just because we have a sense of humor and/or aren’t super serious RPers doesn’t mean we don’t care about the game or the genre.
You’re right on the last part though, I don’t care what kind of effect my characters’ names might have on you. Why should I? Seriously, find something else to get offended over… Geez.
On-topic:
One name that made me laugh hard was a sylvari named Super Saiyan Tree.
To be honest, I haven’t actually seen this player, but I know he/she exists because I came up with the idea and wanted to make a yellow/golden sylvari warrior with the long hairstyle, named Super Saiyan Tree, only to find out the name was already taken.

My Guardian:

And his alter-ego Warrior:
http://puu.sh/fHQ4n/76cacb1beb.png
I have a human guardian named Sebastian Lacroix. He was my first lvl 80 toon and he has blonde hair and golden armor.
Then I made a human warrior named Dark Sebastian, an exact copy of Sebastian Lacroix but with black hair and black armor (you might already see where I’m going with this).
My 1st revenant will be a human revenant named Legendary Sebastian, an exact copy of Sebastian Lacroix but with white hair and white armor.
I don’t know about you guys, but I know for a fact that my day 1 revenant will be lvl 80 instantly with all his utility skills and traits unlocked.
I’ll also jump straight into sPvP and WvW with the revenant because I’m honestly convinced that’s the best way to truly learn the class, not Anet’s hand-holding NPE nonsense.

[Suggestion] Profession specific armor
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: LucosTheDutch.4819
Can I wear Ranger armor on my thief? Can I wear thief armor on my ranger?
If the answer is no. Then I say NO to your suggestion.
Can you wear charr cultural armor on a human? Can you wear human cultural armor on a charr? If the answer is no, then you say NO to that too?
Allowing rangers to wear thief armor and thieves to wear ranger armor completely defeats the purpose of what the OP is suggesting.
I really like the idea of class-specific armor and I actually wanted to post this idea on the forum as well. I would love to see at least 1 of 2 armor sets unique for each class, which of course can only be worn by the class it’s designed for.
Based on the HoT trailers we’ve seen, I think the OP’s suggestion might very well become a reality. We already see revenant Rytlock with armor that looks very revenant-specific, and of course that druid that has armor very befitting for a druid. That engineer also had a very cool typical engineer helmet. To me it seems like we’re getting the class-specific armor that we want. I sure hope so!
Yes.
The more PvP the better.
I agree with Felipe, why a guy can’t like rainbows?
Why should a guy like rainbows and unicorns, or else be called childish and immature?
I’m a 26 years old independent adult and I don’t like Kudzu or The Dreamer. I’m not a fan of ponies, rainbows or unicorns (unless we’re talking about Charlie The Unicorn, he’s awesome) and I hate My Little Pony, but that has more to do with the fanbase and less with the show itself to be honest.

I heared WvW will be removed from map exploration
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2v20dl/less_to_explore_in_hot/
Cool. When will PvE be removed from map exploration? I mean I loathe PvE so it would be super sweet if Anet would also cater to me – a WvW/PvP player – for a change.
Anet should make transferring to lower-tier servers than the server your’e currently on free, while transferring to higher-tier servers should be twice as expensive as it is now. That would be a good start I think.
I would say that as a WvWer you might want to invest in ascended trinkets and weapons, but ascended armor is not so important.
I’d say ascended trinkets with WvW infusions is a must.
Ascended weapons is a nice to have and noticeable.
Ascended armor is barely worth it.
It’s funny how Anet said they’re not going to turn GW2 into another gear treadmill MMO, then introduces masteries and then it turns out masteries are exactly the same as WoW’s gear treadmill, except instead of grinding for gear to access new content you’re grinding for mastery points to access new content.
Look, don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, I never had an issue with the gear treadmill in WoW, but I do find it incredibly ironic how Anet keeps saying GW2 will be different but then it turns out it’s not that different at all.
I’m going to min-max my time/effort. Meaning that I don’t know yet which masteries I’m going to do first until I’ve figured out the fastest way to max-out all my masteries and get the most profit/loot/skins in the shortest amount of time.
I still say the best solution would be to split Map Completion into “Map Completion: Tyria” and “Map Completion: the Mists”. Doing either one gets you a Gift of Exploration, so if you do both, you’d still end up with two per character.
Tyria map completion is simple and straightforward, but very time consuming. Mists map completion is a lot shorter, but you’re more reliant on colour RNG and whether or not your server has enough people to capture the points you need. It seems like a fair trade off to me.
I could live with this, but at the same time it does make getting a legendary weapon a whole lot less… legendary…
I mean, getting a legendary weapon now means you’ve put effort into ALL parts of the game (or it means you have a credit card, but lets not go into that…). If you legit crafted your own legendary it means you’ve explored all parts of GW2 and you’ve actually earned the weapon.
I feel people who want to avoid a part of the game or cheat their way through it don’t really deserve a legendary weapon, but that’s just my opinion.
Most guilds on TC/BG/JQ teach people outnumber or run tatics by example at the very least.
That is complete kitten.
No, not clueless. Unless you’re staying up 24/7 doing zerg busting all week you’re not going to be making much of a difference in the overall PPT. Coverage and numbers > skill. Seems more that you have illusions of grandeur… which confirms my point about zerg busting inflating egos.
Yes, clueless. Absolutely clueless.
You don’t have to be present 24/7 to make a difference. By your logic you yourself don’t make a difference either. In fact no one makes a difference according to you.
Zerg busting guilds working closely together with the main zerg can make a HUGE difference. Any zerg commander can tell you that. Just ask Of Disco, Prosecute, or Choo. They love us (zerg busting guild) because we give them some breathing room to actually cap stuff without getting blobbed down every 5 seconds.
Not trolling. I’ve played on many servers. Seems more like you can’t even fathom anything beyond T1 even existing.
Look, I don’t want to turn this into a kittening match, but I’m pretty sure I’ve played on more servers than you have and I know more about WvW than you do.
There is a thread on the first page of this sub forum (it’s directly below this one while I type this response, lol) about people being heavily spawn camped.
Again, your point? I didn’t miss anything. I’m just not impressed by a thread like that. All I can see in that thread is l2p issues.
Both EOTM and regular WvW yes.
No, just EOTM.
There are constant events for everything. Kill a yak that doesn’t even fight back? Get some get some karma Xp gold Wxp. Walk into a green circle? Get some karma Xp gold Wxp. Kill a single vet mob? karma Xp gold wxp. It’s all over the place all the time.
You should become a salesman. You’re quite good at selling something terrible and making something extremely lackluster sound way better than it really is.
The karma, exp, wxp and copper you get for these “constant” events are extremely lackluster. Just look at Stonemist, the biggest, most heavily guarded and most important structure in WvW, capping it gives you…
wait for it….
0g9s80c + 1,700 karma…
WOW, SO REWARDING!
Sorry you find bags that contain t5/t6/cores/lodestones worthless junk. I disagree, so I would be happy to accept all of your “junk” heavy loot bags.
You mean bags that have a very small chance of dropping t5 mats and an even smaller chance of dropping t6 mats?
Sure. you can have them. I’m not even kidding. That junk I get for 3 hours of raiding in WvW is mere pocket-change in comparison to the buckets of gold I get from casually doing Silverwastes. I won’t even miss it.
Of course I’d rather not do Silverwastes to get my gold. I’d rather just do WvW and actually get rewarded for it properly.
Downed players are easier to kill than things in PvE or PvP.
No they aren’t. Hitting a mob in PvE and getting credit when it dies is way easier. Downed players fight back, teleport away and their buddies will try to stop your stomp and res the downed guy before you can stomp him. Don’t tell me that’s easier than just mindlessly hitting mobs in PvE and getting rewarded for it.
So you don’t even include things you get from WvW rank up chests as loot you get from WvW? I don’t even…
Now you’re just making stuff up. I never said that.
You’re probably confused because you seem to think that WvW is something harder and more serious than it is.
WvW is as hard and as serious as you want it to be. Sure it might seem easy for you if you play the way you suggested earlier (outnumber or run). But if you’re not a coward I can assure you it can be quite hard. Especially when you’re dealing with a situation where you’re outnumbered 3 to 1. I know you and the guilds you play with run from a 3v1 situation, but my guild doesn’t do that. We try to beat them, which can be quite hard and takes serious effort, yes.
(edited by LucosTheDutch.4819)
you want a sniper? roll a rifle warrior.
killshot is exactly that, except without stealth to make it OP.
Rifle warrior is dead and useless.
which is exactly what a sniper thief would be, because melee DPS > ranged DPS, especially single target.
what thief needs is a new playstyle, not yet another “single target burst” weapon.
Cause thief has so many ranged single target burst weapons…. o wait…
A rifle would be awesome and fitting for a thief. But a greatsword thief would also be epic, ninja style!
Good start would be nerf guardians and warriors survivability.
No.
A good start would be to nerf rangers again. These tower-hugging pew pew cheeseball rangers are annoying as hell, especially when you’re on a guardian with a zerg build and you’re trying to run back to your zerg and all of the sudden a cheeseball pew pew ranger pops up. Argh. I miss the good old days when rangers where still absolutely useless, instead of them being just mostly useless, like they are now.
