I really want to know of the plans to incorporate legendaries into PvP. There was a ton of hype about this when they first announced but nothing since then

Although I do realize nothing is really set in stone until it’s in place but maybe we could offer unique perspectives on your best ideas to improve them as a community.

Still looking for more. I have been super pugging to much success recently. Yesterday I the pug and I got into top 100 again and I hit top 50 before we finally lost one.

annihilation works, cap points work, king of the hill would work, relic runs would work.

I don’t see a problem implementing this and it would also increase the diversity of builds brought into pvp, especially to prepare for each of those modes considering HoH was a progression type pvp format where players could not change builds between matches.

Love it. I would especially love to know the ranks of my team and enemies BEFORE the match is completely over.

I’ve been team Qing with Lys and Cmc both on ele recently and we’ve won a ton of matches. We actually all made it to top 100 tPvP in our last set if dual ele runs. IMO your issue is with the quality of players on ele.

Great bunch of players. Hopefully we can get a couple more so we can get a team together more often in case of absences.

Most money shot skills are very telegraphed but not only that I would try learning rotations and what to expect. Depending on what class your playing also influences how you want to avoid damage. You may have access to a lot of evades or protection or imvulnerabilities or blinds or fears so all of that also plays into how much you should be dodge rolling. Your best bet is to try running with energy sogils so you getb1 more roll every time you swap weps until you’re comfortable identifying what you want to avoid. Also go spectate and play other classes to see the best counters to those money shot skills.

I’ve added everyone in this thread but have yet to play with all of you. The pugs continuing to run strong, since I got internet we’ve been about 19-4 so far.

Don’t stop Queueing and don’t let them make you think if you run build X you are bad. It’s solo Q so experiment with builds and find what works best for you.

When I started I took the hostility as part of the learning curve. Yeah, it sucks when you get bashed on constantly and people blame you specifically for losses, but as long as you understand how the MMR system works you’re usually not single-handedly responsible for the loss.

And honestly, you’re not really playing with the best. I don’t know much about EU top players but at least over here in NA I haven’t seen a single top player legit complain about they’re r17. We may not like having one but to go out of our way and blame a r17 for the loss or to tell him to stop Queueing is not worth the time or the effort. Both teams will have good and bad players and the truly skilled players tend to just accept that fact and move on with life.

Keep Queue’ing, improve, and don’t become the players you currently hate.

Found it in my 3rd match, apparently you get it unlisted, it’s basically shows up like treb master, etc as an award on the side.

Won 2 matches in solo Q so far and have received 0 gold.

April fools came early.

You dont know much about the thief obviously^ D/p is extremely strong after this buff. Like I said, its only a nerf for the low class shadow arts d/p thieves.

Thief builds before Dec.10 patch:

-D/P trickery thief
-D/P shadow arts thief
-S/D acrobatics thief

After Dec.10 patch:

-D/P trickery thief

Now if you see a thief, you know he’s using D/P and is glass cannon. Besides with mesmer buff and shift to bunker meta thief is dead.

This patch is a lot of things, but a buff it’s not.

My issue being that Anet seems to think that constantly merging thieves is the solution to diversity. While I agree sd needed to be nerfed they did it the wrong way. I’m willing to bet that the next nerf will be a sizeable one to D/P in order to ‘allow more thief builds to manifest in the meta’ when D/P does not need nerfing =\

It was not adressed in pvp forums, but in game discussion. All crafting of precursors and legendary weapons in different aspects of the game has not meet it’s time lines and will occur later on now.

Thanks for clarifying. I do recall reading about a delay on crafting precursors and new legendaries but I missed anything that suggested a delay to PvP legendaries. I wish there were more clear methods used to communicate information like that to the player base.

I’m amazed everyone is assuming guards are getting a huge buff from somewhere. I honestly don’t see where in the pre patch notes this is coming from. Even the increace to sword damage trait (an extra 5%) was left on the table, might be something else.

Guardians have been staple in tPvP ever since beta. They’re not getting any needs to their meta and nothing looks like it will push them out any time soon. Not surprised they’re t1

Earlier this year we received specific information that PvP legendaries would be expected to be released in 2013. Since then we have heard absolutely nothing about it. It was the MOST discussed reward topic in the forum the pas 6 months and it sounds like they just chose to ignore the topic altogether.

While I know the topic is highly debated even among the pvpers I think the LAST thing we want is for PvE players to bring their legendaries in PvP when we can’t even do that ourselves.

I realize the full new future reward system has yet to be released but they didn’t even breathe a word about PvP legendaries in the live stream and they DID tell us that they plan on letting PvE players wear their outfits/setup in PvP and vice versa. Basically that sounds like “PvE players get to rub legendaries in your faces and we are still undecided on whether or not we will give PvPrs a realistic way of obtaining one.”

That’s just my impression. What do you guys think?

I support! Great idea instead of forcing me to choose between using ~400 hours worth of boosters in an unknown amount of time or to accept that they will be deleted…

Hey guys I am looking for more players to add to my friends list to start Super Pugs more often. Basically I invite the best r40/50/60 players I know and assign basic roles and let good players do what they do best. We steamroll almost everyone except legit top 100 teams.

The reason I do this is because getting a solid team to play on my schedule is a bit ridiculous since I can’t dedicate to prime time.

I don’t require vc or a mic. I am always on Skype and casually vc with people there while I play but I hate taking a long time to get going. I get 4 of the best players available and hit team Q asap to get as many matches in as possible.

While I only play with r40+ who I know are good and can think on their own I am open to trying more players of any rank as long as you seem competent and jive well with me.

I hate players who complain. I especially hate when people complain when we lose to other super pugs or top 100 teams.

I am looking for good home point and mid support/bunker players. I hate far point assaulters and I am NOT looking for any thieves. I play thief and I control far point when I think it’s appropriate to push.

If you have any questions go ahead and message me. Post here if you want me to invite you for super pugs.

As a side note I have been without Internet the past two weeks which explains my inactivity and rank decay. Plenty of top players can vouch for me being a solid player who can create successful super pugs. I’m r53 almost exclusively from doing tourneys (still not even close to marauder because of the tourney bug).

I also don’t mind helping players improve if you’re not quite tournament material to the best of my ability.

They’re giving us time to use our boosters. I would anticipate it becoming null in the next ’big’ PvP update. My guess is that it’s 3 months or 6 months away... Leaning towards 3 which seems to be the trend

sometimes I wonder if they just reset the leaderboard and not personal MMR. My mule account is getting ridiculously easy matches constantly and my main account seems to have the games stacked against it. Of course I am expecting the MM system to be wonky for a few weeks but I wouldn’t be surprised if they just reset LB and not actually our MMR.

This is a point control game and stealth doesn’t help keep a point or contest it.

In team fights the phantasms/illusions get wiped instantly from the amount of aoe in team fights.

Phantasm mesmers are great dueling classes but lack the DPS in team fights and the point holding/contention solo.

Am I saying they’re bad or not viable? Absolutely not. I just don’t think they’re optimal for this particular game mode. Plus it’s a low-skill class so I hate seeing people run it. If people harp on this then duel my mesmer, I’ve played on her 2-3 hours and will roast you with it.

I definitely agree with this too, and really appreciate that they take the time to communicate with us when they could honestly just ignore us. It really helps put things into perspective when they come here to communicate things to us, it’s honestly the only reason I check back in the forums because I want to see what the devs are saying.

I imagine that today they reached their final decision because before today they probably had a pretty active debate on whether or not to reward the LB before they reset it.

I mean ofc I wish they did reward the LB (I just hit r1 solo Q again XD, not that anyone cares about solo Q ladder) but I’m so glad to hear that they plan on doing it in the future. I agree w/ you though, it would have been nice to know sooner for the people who have been trying hard to climb the ladder, etc.

The other maps concern me since it doesn’t look like both sides have the same objectives… I’m not sure with what little information we have available to us, but if they give the two teams different objectives it’s very hard to balance the winning objectives…

Every class has SOMETHING they can cast to avoid damage/minimize damage while immobilized.

Burst thief is so much fun for me. Regardless of how powerful it is in the meta I will play the game the way I enjoy it.

That’s not quite what you were asking, and more on point and no, for the most part and for most players it’s far better to play one of the OP meta classes.

However, there are still amazing players with great tactics, strategy, positioning, and technical abilities that they actually manage to make thief work in a competitive environment. For example Caed has been running D/P even when the forums were saying D/P wasn’t viable in a competitive atmosphere. Specifically the entire PAX tournament as well as several other tournaments.

Well our guild is registered for the Edge of the Mists Beta and several people are already downloading the client/patching and they got both emails.

Are you serious? I would contact support before downloading anything from this. My guild also got this (email change attempt followed by the email about alpha w/ the download link) but we agreed it’s EXTREMELY fishy and so we’re waiting to hear back from a dev on the issue.

But if you do find out what happens when your guildies complete the download will you please let the rest of us know?
