Think about normal armor and elite armor skins from GW1.
You can wear the normal dungeon armor or do the HM dungeons and get the “elite” variant that take a lot of work to get and show off.

Keep in mind Zerg = Blob of people running together and Zerk = Berserker set user. I frequently see people wrongly using either of them.

The biggest reason to me would be the fact you can stack a lot of defensive stats going condi build. The margin for error is larger and it also allow you to take on more players at once and/or get away from a losing fight. The down side of-course is lack of spike damage.

The problem is poor knowledge of encounters by newcomers that copy mindlessly what they see on youtube, and then teach this same badly learned strategy to others.
If you ask most of them why they stack they won’t be able to answer. Pros do it so the bads try to do the same. Funny thing is – that doesn’t make them any better.

Get a guild, it solves all your problems.

Mesmer drops to tier 3 and ranger goes up to tier 2. But that’s just opinion. Guardian and Thief cover what mesmer does, ranger has unique additions.

To OP – Range in dungeons is bad, most rangers use bows, thus they are bad and get kicked. If most of these people playing ranger and responding in your thread weren’t pure trash, there wouldn’t be any hate towards the whole class.

Ok you can’t be serious here, how does using a bow make you a bad ranger exactly, go ahead and explain. Let me make it simple for you, if a ranger sucks its because the player behind the ranger sucks. The class as it stands is as good as any in GW2, each one providing different strengths to group play. It’s as simple as asking your buddy to play ranger for the first time while asking a veteran ranger to join your group… watch the difference.

I never said ranger is a bad pick for dungeons, it’s actually a nice addition, if it runs one special build. Which is not bow.
I’ll ask a buddy to run ranger even if it’s his 1st time because he at least won’t use a bow or some bad build (bad = not suited for dungeons).

You can’t hide behind ‘player skills’ when it comes to meta. Either you run Sword/WH + GS with Frost Spirit and Spotter or you do not run dungeons (you get kicked). The segregation we witness is due to people playing garbage builds. The same way as Engineers and Necros. There is no trust when you see a ranger, most of the time he’ll use a garbage build in dungeons because he is entitled to play how he wants, too bad it’s a team content, he can’t play how he wants.

To above : Rangers are kicked because they run terrible builds. The class has one viable build for dungeons, it’s the least ran one.

Hardest trick in dungeons is to master Sword, only few have succeeded.
If you want to solo hard content on your own, rather go for warrior or mesmer. Everything else (open world) is fine with whatever build you like/weapon choice that suits you; it’s just easy.

30 30 0 0 10 is the build I guess, with mantras. Warrior is still better tho. Illusions draw aggro and die quiet fast, which is a real problem as it hurts your damage output.

Everywhere. In all dungeons and fractals only thing you need is to stack in corner and DPS as much as you can. Nothing else is needed.

Misconception and bad understanding of what stacking is, why it is used and why groups rather run Berserker than tank specs. Do you even run dungeons and fractals outside of AC and Lv20/38?

I believe the devs need to re-imagine content so that groups need " a trinity" Not necessarilly classes Locked Into a trinity position…but where they ask " Ok, who is gonna provide crowd control this time? who is on boons this time? who are DPS?"

It’s already in there, some classes are support – providing boons (might, fury, protection, aegis), party defenses (reflection, projectile absorption, line of warding) and conditon removal; Thieves, Elementalists, Guardians, Warriors, Rangers, Mesmers, Engies.
Some classes bring Crowd control – soft (snare, chill, root), hard (blind, stun, daze); Elementalists, Necros, Rangers, Warriors, Guardians, Thieves, Mesmers, Engies.
Some will do great damage; Elementalists, Rangers, Warriors, Guardians, Thieves, Mesmers, Necros (single target).

TL;DR

As you can see, some classes do every thing – Elementalists, Warriors, Mesmers, Guardians, Rangers and Thieves. They provide the whole trinity by themselve, unlike the left out classes. They support and CC while doing DPS. This is the optimal party synergy – Everyone does everything.

I’ll post in this thread as well, last night I interrupted my friends as he was stomping and he said they couldn’t stomp anyone again for some time. Can someone test if it just prevents stomps for 10s or more?
