Wondering if there is any place to grind gold at? Not something like champ train but more like “Killing stuff with aoe for loot”? Maybe something like elementals for lodestones? Anyone has tried that, or has any output?
Staff isn’t good for pve. Sorry.
First thing I did was get the shield and pistol for my Engie. And the staff for my Ele…and so on and so on….

Why? Because they’re nothing more than walking loot bags.
Mesmers are good for dungeons not because of Time warp, but because of reflects and utility/support (read: no healing, but real active support such as condi cleanse & stability).
You might consider going minimum 20 in Inspiration for Warden’s feedback. Only effective build is phantasm. 10 30 0 20 10 or 0 30 0 25 15 (first for damage, second for reflect heavy uptime).
For armor, Berserker. For weapons, Sword mainhand + Focus and Sword/Pistol or Sword/Sword. Greatsword is a bad weapon and you should consider learning the tells of the mobs/using active defense (Reflects, Blurred Frenzy, Blind, Distortion, Clones to line of sight) to mitigate damage. Only a few fights need a greatsword (Some FoTM enouncounters).
Reflects can mitigate 100% of the damage dealt to your whole party by ranged projectiles (nb: some Dredge’s/Ettins earth attacks are projectiles too, even tho they are comming from the ground).
DE is not a necessity, you should however have the Sword CD + Fury for phantasms traited always. Third slot is either Mantras +4% dmg or Pistol CD recharge (if you run pistol).
If you run mantra +4%, take the Heal, Condi cleanse/Stability/Daze + Feedback. The mantra you need depends on the dungeon – AC = Stability and Condi cleanse but CoE1 = Condi cleanse and Daze.
If you do not run +4% per mantra, take Signet of the Ether, Feedback, Blink + (depends on the encounter) Nullfield (AC) or Disenchanter (CoE) or Portal (CoF1 and 2) or Veil (Skips in Arah and SE) or Mimic (FotM).
Rangers and necros are terrible dungeon classes in a pick up setup. Most are trash players and will only slow things down. Rangers how ever are in a good spot in experienced parties (I don’t mean LFG parties, I mean speed clear guild runs).
On the other hand, any party needs a mesmer, two mesmers is bad, one is perfect, 0 can be overcome by having a guardian but having both guardian and mesmer is still the most convinient way of playing.
Oh and, to Ptolemy, best setup right now is Mesmer Guardian Warrior Warrior Ele for most dungeons, stacking warriors never was optimal, the CoF1 effect is due to warriors being easy to play.
Edit: NEVER use the staff for the following reasons:
The chaos storm hurts your party’s synergy,
Chaos armor is a terrible finisher in PvE, a might stack with a fire field is the best you can have.
Chaos bolt is condition based and innefective/slow/whatever, same goes for the clone summon
Iwarlock, even if scaling with power, is not worth the waste of a whole weapon set (4 skills wasted).

Duelist picks a random target when his is out of range (seen at great jungle wurm for example). If he can not get the his target (when feared away or knocked away).

Well, they could always make dragonite ore drop from silver mobs. I’d totally clear the dungeon.
And if all you care about is burning through the game as fast as possible to get a virtual reward…then I’m just going to put it out there that you may want to look into another game.
But… If we enjoy what we’re doing, why isn’t this game for us? You can’t decide for someone else what is good or not for him. That way, we do not force you to skip either, we search for like-minded players, that’s what the LFG tool is used for.

Well that’s just how it is some times, I think a good idea would be for the players who don’t want to skip to band together and make youtube vids of their non skip runs so those skippers will learn how to fight.
You can not know what is right. You are neither a god, nor a dev. What seems right to you might not be right (hint: if you had to kill every mob, dungeon progress would make you do so).

Asking Rt/DnT/HC etc guys. Is ascended upgrade worth it? Afaik it’s like 10-15% more effective power, however :
- It costs hell
- Zerk gets “adressed” due to casual’s moans

I read several times about how it was a waste of money and totally irrelevant…
My suggestion: make a thread about how overpowered PVT/Clerics gear is and that it should be nerfed. We will keep bumping it until it actually happens. Of course I am not referring to anything.

I’m amazed at how many people here actually enjoy the stacking mechanic. I feel like a lot of the community here doesn’t really care about playing the game, they just want to burn through content to get rewards as quickly and easily as possible.
And I dunno, if you are at that point…you may want to play another game. If the game is no longer fun to you, and all you want to do is burn through content to get rewards, there just doesn’t seem to be any reason to play to me.

There are no rewards for dungeons. People play them only for enjoyment.
If this was the case, what do you think is more fun?
1. Running around dynamically in combat, dodging and using all your skills to surive.
2. Standing on top of everyone on one pixel, and spending most of your time trying to adjust to camera so you can actually see what’s going on while doing your rotation.
Yeah I’m going to say that almost ANYONE would not want to stack in this scenario.
I think the only reason people don’t want stacking to go is it provides the most efficient and easy way to get the reward. Take away the reward, and stacking is a crappy way to play the game…and if you don’t think so, sorry but I disagree.
If there was any game that had you stack in every single fight it would get terrible reviews, because spending most of your time trying to finagle a moderately viewable angle out of a finnicky camera is NOT fun by any stretch of the imagination. I mean, can you imagine if GW2’s trailers showed off combat by showing 5 characters all clipping through each other on one pixel?
Standing on one pixel is impossible.
Take away rewards, but what will you take away from us if we enjoy doing dungeons fast, by stacking? Take away our freedom?

Wrong, mobility is here with Sword 2. It blinks with no range. Has stability if you need it (hint: like any other class, wierd right?). Block heal, Aegis, Blind, Focus block, Shield pushback, Scepter root, GS pull… Torch/Focus burst is sure telegraphed when everything is set on blue fire.

Guard does great damage, it’s not a support only class for group content. It’s a L2p issue here.
We’ll just skip as we always did, finishing 5 dungeons before a party finishes a full-clear run. (hint: “350% reward vs Soon to come 200% reward”)
I never understood why people want to spend more time in a dungeon for the same reward.
The reward is usually as meaningful as the struggle/journey to obtain that reward… Ever heard the saying “the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory” ?
If you put it like that… why would you even want to spend any time in a dungeon, just have a starting vendor with all best gear in the game…
Well… GW1 was like that. Everyone was equal stat-wise and only grinded for cooler looking gear.
Also, no one really cares about the struggle/journey after the first few times you do it. It then just becomes farm to grind for the next legendary, cash shop item or piece of ascended gear.
Well of course… after you have “consumed” that content, the experience becomes less attractive and you want “the next challenge”. Usually new content is pushed out in the form of an expansion to satisfy people’s thirst for a challenge…
I find the way you say it rude, consumed? thirst? Fun is subjective. I didn’t know i’d be dictated what’s fun for me when I bought this game.
Neither did I know publishing new content to keep an audience was a sin.
I don’t record my gameplay. And well as that may be, why are you complaining about tank/heal? Their damage is maybe 1/5th of yours, so by the time they finish a dungeon they’re old and have a beard. There is no tank/heal meta. There is however a zerk meta.
Full Zerker is only restricted to a small community. It is the demanding community, thus you see LFG posts with “Need Zerk x”.
On the other side, there is the Tank/Heal meta, the majority of the playerbase. The majority is not demanding for Zerk builds, thus you do not see it on LFG, the parties fill up quickly. And why? Because it’s the way the majority plays in GW2.

Because stacking is more effective than non-stacking. And after 1.5 year, we want things to go quicker, for the same reward (how dare we be smart?).
It couldn’t be removed at the time you played, but at that time neither was it hardly used, thus you have the feeling Stacking came in and became unremovable, however it was here since the start and just now people (like you) see it as a scourge that should be removed (because you feel cheated on when a party clears the same dungeon 10 times faster… 5 minutes instead of 50)

Everything is viable thus “any class can play any role”.
Everything is not viable in the sense that DPS far out-performs other builds in open-world PvE, Dungeons, and Fractals.

1) A full DPS warrior is not squishy if you know how to use active defense (dodge, GS3, Sword 5).
2) It is yes, if you know how to play it, same as for pve (however it is arguable that in W3 players are worse than some AI in PvE).
3) An experienced party will never have to rez a DPS warrior because it’s, well, experienced. How PvE is designed, full DPS is always better than tankyness of any sort. Team support is much better than any Toughness or Healing Shout you can bring.
4) A hybrid build is possible, it’s a mix of Knight armor and Berserker Trinkets/Weapons. Once you get the hand of your class, switch progressively Knight pieces to Berserker. PVT is not a choice, your party is your protection, your Dodge is your damage mitigation. Damage absorption is not how the game is designed.
You should retrait yes, and for shield, prefer a Sword off-hand, it is better (the block skill will block for whole duration if you are out of melee range of the one attacking you, blocking that way more than just one hit).

Ps: Better off with several exotic sets instead of one Ascended Celestial if you want versallity.
Well I guess I’ll answer that one myself (had a talk with Colesy, zerk is fine tho some assassin parts give higher damage). So I went over GW2buildcraft for a check on ascended gear; here are the results :
The highest Effective power possible is 15595.6 with the following stats
- Power 3402
- Precision 2512
- Critical Damage - 134%
Critical Multiplier 2.84
- Critical Chance 100% 80% chances exactly without fury, so there is no Precision loss
- Damage % modifier 61.42%
(Optional)
- Armor 1836
- Health 17082
These stats might look wild for you, but since we are speaking of dungeons, some standarts were applied such as :
Banner of Force
Banner of Discipline
25 stacks of might
FuryAlso, the build used is the 10 30 0 20 10 build for dungeons.
Damage modifier is so high because of – Slaying potion, Night Sigil, Force sigil, Scolar runes bonus, 3 Mantras and 3 Illusions up.
Now the gear :
- the best values come from a Zerker weapon set with Mighty infusions (+5 power) with Precision Stacks (and Power food buff)
- Trinkets are all Zerker with Power infusion (+5 power)
- Armor is Berzerker helm, shoulders, boots and gloves + Assassin coat and leggins, all 6 pieces with Precise infusions (+5 precision)
How ever, the link misses on Boons and Manual stat addition (values for stacking sigil, banners, traits)
Manual tab should read these values :power: 170,
precision: 420,
critical damage: 15,
condition damage: 170,
damage multiplier: 12,
damage multiplier: 9,
Now people will run with forks at me shouting not eveyone has the money for versatile infusions (we keep normal infusions, get these from WvWvW), so here is the gear break down without these [15411.88 effective power, 1.17% less direct damage than optimal setup ]:
- Assassin Helm, Coat, Leggins,
- Berserker Gloves, Shoulders and Boots
- Rest remains same (weapons, trinkets and food/sigils), however we switch 3 out of 4 aviable Offensive infusions from Mighty to Precise.
What else? We’re also soloing the dungeon and we do not have any might nor do we have fury/banners? No problem, here is the optimal gear for such a situation :
- Assassin Helmet + Berzerker everything else
- Rest remains same (weapons, trinkets and food/sigils)
(Nb: Reflects are dependant on the target’s power but your precision and crit damage, a full Assassin set is more convenient when soloing Lupicus for example)
