It increases the duration of all outgoing boons (might, fury, etc.) generated by not only you, but also by your party members.

Some people use F2 to help increase energy drain to zero prior to swapping legends to Shiro.

I like to run it when I have other boon-givers around, like guardians or other Revenants. I like to keep my energy usage from facets at 3-4 in combat, so it just depends what else I need at the time.

The only organization this event needs is to get as many people as possible involved in the event, split evenly into teams, and make sure people know the mechanics of their lane. Beyond that, there is no more coordination required than the breach in Silverwastes.

There is very little margin for error, but no amount of coordination will actually change that.

Most Revenant damage comes from auto attacks by design. You have an issue with it, take it up with the developers. Everyone complains about how Revenant has to take this legend or that legend and can’t choose their skills. The auto attack being strong is the one thing that allows you to make a defensive pick for an offhand weapon or legend without completely shafting dps. You kill that, you kill the entire house of cards the profession is built on.

As a rev player I tell you this: Sword AA is ridiculously overpowered in terms of DPS.

I don’t think the devs are incompetent at all, but I am glad they are the ones making decisions and not posters on this forum. You must not make the mistake of comparing Revenant auto to the auto attacks from other classes and conclude it is overpowered.

Seriously, take a step back and look at the design of the profession. I can’t believe I’m about to agree with Burtnik on something, but it is true this isn’t a bursty class. Look at the utilities. They don’t generally provide significant damage (outside IO which isn’t directly provided by the skill). The auto attack has to be strong because that’s where the majority of the profession’s damage is intended to come from. Reducing the damage on the autoattack would require adjusting the damage on every other skill and amount to fundamentally redesigning the class from the ground up.

If people don’t want to play a profession that relies on their autoattack, there are plenty of other options out there. Leave the Revenant alone.

UA is fine, the sword auto should have the damage reduced a bit though. I mean yes, I hate getting killed by UA but that’s just what it is, a skill made two wreck people in 1v1. It should NOT cleave.
The sword auto has such high damage that I find absolutely no situation in which UA is worth using in a pve environment. Even if it completes the full cast (which it often doesn’t because lol I hit a wall or rock that just happened to be there) it still feels like a dps loss compared to the auto attack.

Not everyone uses Shiro. Obal has said UA is a damage increase over auto when not under the effects of quickness.

Yeah but crafting 2 ascended insignas/inscriptions for just one piece of gear is costly.

You don’t need another ascended to change stats, just gossamer/orichalcum.

I soloed the one in Tangled Depths yesterday. It wasn’t too hard to trap it in a corner. I helped some guy do the one in VB a while ago. What a crazy fight that was! Enemies everywhere: cavaliers, snipers, punishers, etc. I got knocked off a ledge at one point and had to make my way back up. Heck I didn’t even have another collection open to get credit, but that was great fun.

It’s been doing this quite a lot to me this morning on my Revenant. It doesn’t matter if you hit walls or if you’re no where near any objects, it turns itself off very quickly, it’s not a double tap issue either.

It’s very strange, hopefully it gets fixed.

When you say very quickly, do you mean less than a second? Did it do that every time? If so, try switching legends and switching back. Had you just used a waypoint right before that happened?

frankly, I wish they would get rid of the 50% damage trait. I don’t like the design of it (too spiky) and not enough people are ever going to understand it, so we will always wind up with tons of threads like this, which gets tiresome.

I’ve never actually been a fan of the 2 second cooldown. I wouldn’t mind if it were just a bit longer (maybe 3 seconds), but that isn’t going to stop these kinds of complaints. To be honest, PvE playability matters vastly more to me than WvW balance. If “balance”, whatever that term even means with respect to WvW in this game, comes at the expense of PvE playability, it’s going to be a problem for me and a lot of others. If there’s a way to alter the skill for WvW only, I’d be all for it.

Most broken skill in WvW at the moment. But you know, I should ignore everything else and save my dodges for this only.

The problem with that is Revenant has some funky damage traits. What you are probably looking at is with 50% bonus damage after a negated attack, among other things. That trait is on a 15 second cooldown, but people like to put up pictures or give reports of massive damage numbers from a skill with a 2 second cooldown and cry foul. Not to mention might, vulnerability, etc. Don’t get me wrong, it is a strong ability, but in many cases, what people report in posts like this are the edge cases…"perfect storm" type of scenarios.

I say do what works for you. While I completely understand Obal’s thing is maximizing dps, as a play style I think that rotation is awful, so I don’t do it (I spend most of my time in Glint, usually with my energy meter at +1. I like to run F2, strength, and elements out of combat. At the start of a fight, I hit the actives for strength and elements, then turn on facet of darkness.

My other legend is Jalis, and I generally switch because I need a heal/cleanse or stability. I like the hammers when fighting the legendary grawl shaman or when swarmed by large numbers of enemies.

Find what works with your style of play and run with it.

There’s no need for a path for these, IMO. They are relatively clustered in the lanes (there are definitely more spawn points in the Rata Novus lane and probably the ogre lane as well—I just haven’t spent as much time in the latter).

The easiest way to find these is to look in the lanes for what appear to be little, blue, glowing energy balls (these can be see through rocks to help find them more easily).

It absolutely does have the red damage markers (not an outline, but it moves progressively away from the Revenant) and is easily avoided. This may be related to your graphics settings.

I agree it is annoying. However, you can easily get gold on this without making that jump or the first one. When I did it, I did do the other one right before the one you mentioned.

It does less than half the base damage as rapid-fire at max range, where it is easily avoided. Rapid-fire also has longer range, applies vulnerability, and is a combo finisher.

I’m actually in the process of converting my berserker gear over to marauder (weapons converted to marauder, armor is half & half). Long term, I’d love to get the legendary armor and build up a second armor set with a more tanky setup and max regen stats, perhaps some combo of Minstrel and Crusader.

Misguided: if this meta is supposed to be like 3 headed wurm – beatable only in organised group – then it will share its fate and my attitude towards it postponing it for months and years because I never find energy to look for some organised guild, trying to join them and trying to get onto already full map

Beat the meta tonight on a map organized by IQ. Thanks, guys, it was a lot of fun. The 20 point achieve for taking down the Gerent pushed me over the 5k mark as well, which was nice.

I really do like TD and hope to continue to spend time there.

Even Invocation offers minimal Fury up time, only when you heal or stun break.

And legend swap. I like invocation first for the Condi cleanse and stun break on swap.

Yeah, I feel like the Glint heal has a trade off. It is potentially the best if used at the right time and makes a great panic button (unlike Shiro’s), but it can be the worst heal too if used at the wrong moment. To me that’s fair.

Infused Light is my arguably favorite Revenant skill, but I wish they hadn’t nerf’d the duration in PvE, mobs don’t attack like players, let us PvE-er’s have that 4s duration back.

This is just my opinion, put it is my belief that the change had nothing to do with the healing ability and everything to do with the block duration. As Daniel Handler pointed out during beta, there was an absurd amount of block/evade uptime before, along with tremendous access to damage reduction.

There has to be a tradeoff for using Shiro. It can’t have the best damage and the best mobility and the best sustain. The heal skill fits the legend perfectly, from a thematic standpoint. It isn’t an ability that will totally turn the fight if you are at low health by design.

Actually, that sounds low. The insgnias alone would cost more than that to buy the patches. The patches themselves are a new thing. Pre-Hot it would have been 3 damask, but they wanted to drive up the cost of leather.

One thing to keep in mind is that the new legendaries can not drop, nor can they be purchased. So if you don’t want to undertake the precursor crafting, Juggernaut will be the way to go.

I knew there was a reason I liked your posts. There are more of us out there than you think. I refer to myself this way all the time. But yeah, ascended armor is a thing you can work on over time if you like, but not something that is necessary.

Yeah, I think this map should have a fixed timer as a fallback (in case one of the missions bugs out), but fully upgrading all of the lanes should kick off a 20 minute countdown to the meta event or something of that nature.

But . . . the sniper pretty much telegraphs all his moves. The crosshairs tell you to get ready to dodge or hide behind something. Also, the lines on the ground should be avoid or hopped over.

The snipers are nothing. Now those little raptors, rolling devils, and chak with their glue of instant death if you’re not careful?

That can be a problem.

Yeah, snipers are actually one of the easier enemies to deal with, but at the same time, they can make fights more…interesting. The times when snipers are most dangerous are when you are preoccupied with something else and don’t realize they are there. But if I get jumped by one, I feel like that was my own fault for not being aware of my surroundings.

Got on a map doing solid runs at the meta event tonight. Nuhoch lane failed during the second event phase both times. They claimed spores weren’t spawning fast enough. I don’t know how the lane works, so no idea. It was nice to see someone trying to do it though.

Tangled Depths can definitely be confusing. One of my gripes is that events don’t indicate whether they are above or below you. Despite that, the map is really growing on me. I just wish there were people actually trying to do the meta event, but other events are easier and have better rewards or simply don’t fail as easily.

I’m no expert on getting around the map, but if somebody needs help getting somewhere, I’m happy to try.

I haven’t used Ventari (it’s fiddly for my tastes) but have some guildmates that love it. Revenant has a variety of ways to provide group support. You might take a look at Ventari/Glint for a combination of healing, boons, etc. something along the lines of Crusader gear might be good for doing half-decent damage while also being tanky and having good healing.

Meta event trigger is WAAAYYYY too long.

This is the most puzzling thing.

I think this whole thing isn’t nearly as hard as people think, but finding an organized attempt is near impossible. And people figured out quickly that Auric Basin was easier and had better rewards, so that is unlikely to change. Auric Basin failed repeatedly in the first few days until people figured out how it all worked. by the time people figured out how TD worked, almost no one cared anymore.

Once I kind of figured out how the map worked, it has really grown on me. I’d like to do this event, but doesn’t seem realistic right now.

Well, I know you said you felt it was slow, but your best bet is to have a hammer close by for a mission like that. Every hammer attack hits multiple enemies, so you can thin the crowd before they get to you.

When dealing with a smaller number of tougher enemies switch to sword/x

The key with Revenant is to use abilities like Sword 3 or Hammer 3 to avoid taking damage.

I would definitely equip Jalis as one of your legends. If you have to melee in a crowd, the hammers can help keep you alive (with damage reduction and life steal) while doing some damage.

The retribution line can help quite a bit in dealing with tougher content.

You can get a minimum of 22 quartz crystals per day if you mine a node in a home instance and the rich node (during sandstorm; requires T4+ Dry Top) plus the other three. So basically, you should be able to make one charged per day, potentially buying a few Quartz on occasion if you are unlucky.

yeah, I get where you are coming from. But in terms of what to do right now, I’d suggest checking when you log on, then go play. Check once more when you log off if you like. But it could be weeks or even months before anything changes. Tarnished Coast actually went from full to very high recently and stayed that way at least a few days, so there is hope.

I’ve stayed up hoping to catch Sea of Sorrows available for transfer for over 24 hours.

It doesn’t work like that anymore. They changed the way server populations are determined awhile back. It only depends on WvW population now and it is more of a moving average (not sure on how wide a span, but my guess is 24 hours minimum, probably longer) than moment to moment.

How do I make gold now?

i made only 100g alone from the sand (which ppl need for the guild hall) and it drops really well in the SW by doing chest runs.

Someone gets it.
