The updraft thing is asinine and poorly communicated to the player. Why didn’t they just do it like the Wyvern fight where you have to jump off the platform and catch an updraft. After trying this fight multiple times, I still don’t know what the player is supposed to do to get thrown into the air. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. Dying because I knew what was needed but didn’t pull it off is ok, dying because I don’t have a clue what the game wants from me is not. I’ve quit bothering with it until the rifts over empty space issue is resolved.

I agree it shouldn’t hit the same target twice. Fix that, change cruel repercussion, and I think a large part of the perceived problem will be eliminated and they can evaluate whether additional adjustments are needed (and if the devs decide they are, I think only relatively minor changes will be needed).

I get plenty of sparks from the caches and they are available all the time, unlike the pods. If you do the full event cycle (which admittedly should be shorter) you get plenty of crystals.

upkeep skills in Glint stances turn off randomly too. I have think this was fixed in a patch but it don’t seems, especially after being underwater.

Revenant is no different. The most popular build sacrifices condition cleanse. If you want condition cleanse you give up quickness and mobility. If you want to play ventari, your entire setup is liable to change.

Revenant can do a lot of things, but they can’t do them all at the same time.

I’m a big fan of marauder and use berserkyrie trinkets. Between that, shield offhand (once you get access) and evades on sword and hammer, you can avoid or mitigate a lot of damage.

Understand something, going too far toward the defensive side is going to be frustrating. The longer it takes to take enemies out, the more damage they are going to do to you. Marauder is a nice compromise with rev high base health and active defenses. You can adjust it a bit further with retribution trait line or with soldier trinkets as needed.

But when it comes to HoT, you have to adjust to the enemies or else they will eat you alive regardless of what gear you have

For anyone that played 999, my preferred explanation is morphic resonance. Once Rytlock became the first Revenant, others simply manifested the ability.

Participation is instance-specific. You can leave the map (at least for a short period) and return, but if you wind up in a different map instance, your participation in that map will be zero. The only other way I know of is if you aren’t doing events for an extended period it will decrease slowly over time.

Last time I did this fight, the window to break the bar seems like it was only a few seconds long. That was the only issue I had.

Changing stats on ascended gear is rather cheap, unless you have expensive runes.

Runes are the cheap part.

The 1200g+ cost of versatile infusions is what makes it dumb to even consider re-statting armor for some people.

Suppose that would be a problem if you didn’t have the expansion, but given this was a thread about needing to possibly change stats for raiding, that shouldn’t be an issue.

Which gear it’s better for maguuma events? Soldier or berserker?

Berserker is fine provided you keep distance when you need to and use your active defenses when you need to. Occasionally I make a mistake and get roflstomped, but I usually know exactly what I did wrong in those circumstances or what I should have done differently. But the truth of the matter is, if you play poorly in the new areas, there are regular enemies that will eat you alive, and I’m not sure having soldier gear would help all that much if you can’t adjust your play to the enemy types as needed.

I would take a look at Marauder if that is feasible for you.

It seems like this was false alarm, I went to a different /ip of lion arch and it worked there. The chest mini did not get removed from the wardrobe or anything.

Better than nothing. At least I know when I can rely on proc.

Considering Herald facets no longer work underwater, I’d rather they had done nothing.

The wording of underwater legend selections being a bug is curious, since I don’t recall ever being told that was the intended behavior.

I’m sure there are more things they are working on, but I feel like we are about due for some kind of “state of the revenant” address.

I agree, this is very frustrating!

No, you can no longer choose Glint underwater, but if you currently had it selected, it doesn’t change the option. Half the reason I made this post was because I knew people were going to run into issues with facets not working on land, the other half requesting they give us something else.

I didn’t care if the actives for the auras didn’t work underwater. Running around with a few facets on was great. I don’t see why they can’t enable just the passive portions and change the flip over skills to turning them off.

Is that the best solution? No, but better than this.

Herald facets (other than F2) now turn off under. To make matters worse, if you have Herald selected as an underwater legend, facets will turn off constantly once you get back on land (this can be fixed by swapping legends). Changing underwater legends to something else will cause things to work correctly.

It is frustrating to me that we now have even fewer options available underwater. If more of the terrestrial legends are not going to be made functional, can we get a dedicated underwater legend so we have some sort of option aside from Shiro and Mallyx?

Yeah, I really think cruel repercussion should be redesigned. It could give 5 stacks that buff damage by 10% and consume one stack per hit instead, or something of that nature.

As a zerg necro in WvW, I would definitely use quickening thirst, as Blaine suggested. Then you just need a dagger in one of your two weapon groups and don’t have to worry about it anymore.

Thanks for the advise guys, I went for rage because it was just so kitten cheap it was like 3G and change for a full set. I’ll use those for now until I earn enough G for the runes of strength if it i s THAT much better

I think a lot of people have done that. It’s a perfectly fine choice. Have fun with it!

The biggest issue is getting everyone on the map to help set up so everyone is split evenly between the lanes.

Yup. I’m still not convinced the cc thing rally matters, but that is really besides the point. The biggest barrier is participation.

More things to do would be nice, the zone is pretty boring for the majority of the event

I would argue the real issue is the fixed schedule, which is much too long.

If you do decide to spring for strength, make sure you put them in exotics you can salvage. Then you just salvage a piece at a time as you make ascended to recover the rune. If you want berserker stats, just buy Devona’s.

rev is in top 3 dps classes, you’ll like it

I’ve mained Necro since I started playing about a year ago.. dps isn’t my main focus xD lol But Rev does seem like it has potential with my playstyle. Just gotta get used to the rotations and everything, I think.

Any advice for leveling a Rev? Hammer/Sword/Axe and Devestation/Invocation?

I like invocation first for the Condi cleanse and stun break.

I would also get impossible odds as soon as you can, even if you don’t plan to use Shiro long term, IO is the best tool you will have while leveling for moving across maps quickly, or avoiding combat if you wish.

One of the fun things about Revenant is that you can wear dps gear and still have good survivability, with a combination of heals, evades, etc.

I run Glint/Jalis with Hammer/Sword/shield, which I think you would like, with marauder/berserkyrie gear and the invocation/devastation/herald lines. You could easily adjust how tanky you want to be by swapping in the retribution line for one of the others, or for going with a more balanced armor set. Eventually I want to put together a set of wanderer or crusader gear for that purpose

My Rev sounds like a funeral home.

I can agree with you there. But then how will they do that? The only way I see to fix it in terms of adjusting the SS is by removing Impossible Odds completely….which is bad.

I am not suggesting a change is needed, but if it were, the pulse frequency (and upkeep) could be changed to occur/be paid more frequently, decreasing the overall duration.

No, it is already very good and does not need a boost in any way. leave it alone.

Glint heal does NOT need a buff to base damage. Most of the buffs you are suggesting are not needed.

It is possible to get hit twice, but that typically happens because an enemy is running away. I think you’d have to be extremely good or extremely lucky to hit a normal-sized target twice otherwise. Still, if they wanted to somehow make it so that couldn’t happen, I wouldn’t object.

Talking about it is the exact opposite than what they’ve done in the past. Ask the people exploiting food at launch how much warning they got. Don’t do it. It takes <3 mins to kill the trash and your account will be safe.

I probably wouldn’t mind killing the trash that much if it wasn’t immune to 80% of my damage for no reason.

I was playing a burn guardian before the expansion came out. I feel your pain.

QFT. And I totally get why some people might not like the AA-heavy style of play.

For me, it’s perfect. It’s the thing I love most about the profession, because you can use Jalis or Ventari and a Shield offhand. While it might not be the max dps build, you can make a solid build with nice utility. This, for me, is the true beauty of the profession. I’ve said all along that Revenant is like this amazing pocketknife with all these neat little tools to fit different situations. It is the strong AA that allows all that to happen without completely gimping yourself.

Rev lacks condition cleanse by design, so I don’t see that happening, especially per pulse on shield 5. I prefer the existing trait to your suggestion. Moreover, shield skill cooldowns have already been increased, and increasing them further to justify a cooldown reduction sounds awful, making shield far less effective without the trait.

I don’t accept the premise that Revenant damage is that out of line with other professions. I keep hearing that there are others that are better. Which is it?

As for Roiling Mists, the suggestion given is actually how the trait operated during BWE1 and it was felt to be underwhelming, therefore changed to what we currently have. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t, perhaps, be revisited in light of other changes, but felt this was worth mentioning.

Well, look at it this way. Revenant’s sword auto attack is the highest damaging auto chain currently, on a class that has on demand quickness and basically perma fury no less.

And the reason the AA is high is that (generally speaking, compared to other professions) their other weapon abilities and utilities don’t provide burst damage. If the combination of quickness and sword AA is a problem, then the quickness should be addressed, not the sword AA. Otherwise you reduce build options even further.
