The only thing I can recall is him saying they wanted non-elite builds to be viable, so beats me.

They have a company culture where they don’t like to communicate until they have landed on a solution. That’s why we get silence on a lot of things for a great deal of time until suddenly it’s, “We’re going to patch in this new fix!”

That’s understandable, but they have been known to say, “we are aware X is an issue and are working on possible solutions, but have no timetable for a fix”.

Lack of communication has bitten them on the behind in a number of ways regarding this expansion. They admitted as much with respect to the number of points required to unlock elite specs.

When significant numbers of players start to feel like they are being ignored (even if they truly aren’t), it starts to become a problem. Perception is reality.

WvW has been decimated

A reduction of 10% hardly seems huge … what .. ah, I knew you didn’t know what decimated means.

Hint: as many words have done in recent times its meaning has been warped to something entirely different from what it originally meant .. kind of like ‘hotfix’.

Decimate originally meant to reduce by 10%? That makes perfect sense, but I did not know that, lol. Thanks!

Anet isn’t communicating and the voice of those whom have never spoken a single word can be heard in all aspects of the game currently.

I did say that more communication would be welcomed. You make an interesting point and while I might argue that the people you are referencing are no longer part of the community (which would be a terrible shame), I clearly painted with too broad a brush to try and make a point: that because there have been a bunch of complaint threads doesn’t mean that everyone, or even a majority, are unhappy. Not to dismiss what, at least in many cases, are valid complaints, just trying to keep things in perspective. It annoys me when posters use words like “we” and “us” as if everyone feels the same way they do. That’s all I was trying to get at and overreached to try and make that point.

I was still crashing, to begin with, but then what (I would assume) would have previously been crashes, turned into really long lag spikes (or whatever you would call a freeze-type situation, like that), but no crash.

I had that happen a few times as well, but not in the last couple of weeks.

One Revenant/Herald can get up to 12-14 stacks for entire party (25 for his/herself).

So two can easily keep 25 stacks for everyone.

Pretty sure you can do better than that with sigil of strength. Not sure exactly how much, though…I should get someone to test it out with me.

the problem with Revenant is that it’s entire kit is braindead and un-engaging

That’s a matter of opinion. For me, it is the exact opposite, because I can choose when to use skills to fit the situation instead of having to use things on cooldown to deal damage. Good thing there are a variety of professions to suit us both.

I said this earlier in another post

I fully expect AA, Glint heal, and shield 5 to get nerfed.

other than that I see buffs across the board coming, especially mallyx

Duration of Glint heal was already reduced by 25%. Besides, if you mean for pvp it is a learn to play issue.

Shield 5 already had a cd increase of 5 seconds.

Reducing damage on the AA would require reworking the entire profession since most of the damage comes from AA by design. If anything needs to be adjusted, it is IO, not the AA.

I would suggest that if significant numbers of people aren’t interested in doing the meta, then perhaps the meta isn’t rewarding enough. Shutting down the hero points would be treating the symptom in a punitive manner, rather than the root cause.

If they want players doing meta events, make the meta events rewarding.

Perhaps his point was in reference to your use of the plural. If you are speaking for yourself you would, ideally, be using, “me,” or, “I,” rather than, “us,” or, “we.”

Claiming to speak for others invites this sort of criticism.

Precisely, thank you. I think it is important for people to express their concerns, but also to realize that not everyone feels the same way they do.

Requirement for Berserker. Really?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Misguided.5139

Jaymee, I’ve also never been comfortable running berserker gear, until I played a Revenant that is. First off, I suggest berserker+Valkyrie trinkets for a bit of extra health and the loss of precision shouldn’t really hurt you with the access to Crit chance you have via fury and roiling mists.

The key with Revenant is to take advantage of your evades (e.g. Sword 3, hammer 3), heals, and blocks/damage nullifiers (the herald specialization is phenomenal for this, between the heal and the block on shield 5).

I’ve actually converted all my gear to marauder, which gives a ton of extra survivability without sacrificing a ton of dps (IMO) but don’t know how well that would be received by raid leaders.

Odd…I was chatting in guild chat with folks while I crafted my new ascended longbow and then again while I did my new sword. What they said was you can change the stats on the fly (out of combat) without using the Mystic Forge.

I’ve searched all over for more information since the person I was talking with logged off just as I was trying to get clarification.

Anyone have any info on this option?

You can change the stats anytime out of combat with a legendary weapon, not ascended (requires forge)

Quartz Crystals and SW Shovels

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Misguided.5139

While it seems unlikely that any change to crystals is going to change, I still believe the cooldown should be removed. This has been brought up before with regards to Sinister and Celestial gear requiring 30+ charged crystals for no more power than another exotic set that takes 5 minutes to make. 10 charged crystals are needed for 1 piece of crafting mawdrey, but that involves enough materials to still have high value. Quartz will always have value because of its scarcity from limited nodes in dry top and home instances.

The real question is why did they feel it necessary to require charged crystals for those in the first place? But it isn’t likely to change now, because charged Quartz (via ley-line tools and celestial items) are a significant limiting factor to guild hall progression. It’s a goofy decision, but I think we are stuck with it.

If anyone needs help with getting started on Quartz gathering, I’m happy to help.

It may be boring for you, but not for me. I love it exactly as is. Not everyone wants an engineer-like skill rotation and the beauty of Revenant is that the strong autoattack allows you to make defensive choices like offhand shield without killing DPS. Fortunately, for those that don’t like depending on auto-attacks as much, there are other options out there.

I vastly prefer having a variety of abilities to fit different situations versus ones I have to use to do damage, and that’s exactly what the Revenant brings.

There are a bunch that spawn directly in front of the turrets. Hard to miss once you know what you’re looking for. You don’t have to fail in phase one, but they’ll disappear quick. Once you see Teq getting close to 75% health you might want to break off a bit and stand near the turrets so you can grab it while they’re up.

Happened to me a few days ago. I’ve done Teq dozens of times (usually on N defense team) and had no idea that could happen, lol.

Quartz Crystals and SW Shovels

Misguided.5139

None of this is ever going to happen (wrt Quartz). The whole point of the time gate on charged crystals is to make the items more valuable or slow down their production. It isn’t going to get removed, therefore more nodes are not needed, since even one more would wind up deflating the value of Quartz dramatically.

Misguided.5139

Yeah, you can solo most of the events in TD (not saying all are a breeze mind you). I know of at least one in the Ogre camp that can’t be done solo. The Nuhoch ones can, at least right until the end. The Scar ones can be too. Getting crystals is easy, just a little time-consuming. Do events, get your participation up, then remain on the map for the meta. Even if no one is attempting the meta, you get quite a few crystals.

Once you have crystals, you will need Nuhoch mastery 2, which lets you buy Chak Acid from the Nuhoch vendor (Teku Nuhoch or Itzel Village, e.g.). This costs more crystals, FYI. Running around solo to grab crystallized caches is easy. The vast majority of them are in the lanes, you could port into a map you hadn’t been on and grab a couple of dozen caches in a matter of minutes.

A good percentage of the caches drop the Sparks, but not all. It’s going to take awhile to get that many. My suggestion is not to try and do it as fast as humanly possible, because it seems a little soul-destroying. I would run through and grab caches a couple of times a day, running the event cycle once every few days for more crystals and you will have this done before you know it.

I’ve only managed to do one story step inside it, and now getting to the second one, I’m well and truly lost. Saying I dislike this map would be putting it mildly. I LOATHE this map. I always felt I had a good sense of direction, but this map makes me feel directionally challenged. No matter how hard I try I just seem to go in circles and revisit places I’ve already been to. Pardon me while I go tear my hair out…

It can certainly be confusing at first. I suggest making your way to the ley line confluence waypoint, via the first lane you get to. From there you can move up the other lanes and gain access to most of the other waypoints. For the story, you will definitely need to get to Rata Novus (can’t recall on the others). It was pretty crazy the first time I did this, because I had no clue where I was going, but it worked out in the end.

The other thing I suggest is switching your active mastery to the Nuhoch line as soon as you can. Completing the second tier (wallows) will help you get around the map much more easily.

lol that’s cause you’ve been doing nothing but swinging the sword, kinda need defensive skills sometimes :P

Well… if it’s the axemaster you’re talking about, I’ve tried jumping, dodging, blocking, gliding, reflecting… haven’t gone online in search of a way to stop being downed yet (because there has to be some way to figure it out in-game), but seriously… I don’t understand this mechanic. If he dropped us to 1 hp, I’d be able to cope. I built up my stacks and I guarded them jealously until he cheated…

I believe it says it right on the attribute list when you have him targeted, but you have to deplete his breakbar to prevent that attack.

Please get rid of them. They’re nothing but an annoyance!

You have a hammer equipped? Hammer 5 before they aggro, followed by Hammer 2 as they approach, followed by hammer 3 when they get close (so you are evading damage while dealing it). You might need another hammer 2 or some auto-attacks to clean up the remnants.

What do you know? No more Pocket Raptors.

Yeah .. i also bought the 100 € version, and have spent maybe 4-5 hours max in the
new areas, and have absolutely no interest to go there ever again.

Serious question. Do you really think you have given the new areas a fair shake if that’s all the time you have spent there?

There seems to be a significant contingent of players (and you may or may not be in this category) that want everything to be exactly as it was, with little willingness to even attempt to adapt to the new content. I find it challenging, but it also feels more rewarding when I succeed at something. Sometimes I get caught unprepared for a fight and get demolished, even by normal mobs, but there have also been amazing moments where I truly felt I had done something awesome.

I understand if people find navigating a challenge, especially at first, or are taken aback when they get destroyed by a group of enemies when we have gotten so accustomed to most not posing a threat, or can’t solo some of the hero points. What I don’t get is the number of people that seem to have dipped their toe into the water, declared it too hard, and decided they have had enough. I wonder how many of those people, if they give it a bit longer, might grow to like it.
