There are so many factors that makes a tank… an actual tank: Along with protection layers, invulnerability, sustain and so on, and these tanks carry the offensive tools to actually tank, controls such as knocks to interrupt your flow, or blinds, or chill, stuff like that. % based damage will probably mean nothing given the health pools and what separates tanks from squishies. And if you want your “tank killing” abilities to go through all that, I’m afraid the squishies will have it much, much harder than the tanks.
Oh boy, I almost forgot that we used to have legendary effects on some of our stuff.
Buttflaps. I’m proud of my work on my engineer when attempting to make an outfit close to an exosuit. And then I sometimes realize even this armor has buttflaps. That almost makes me cry at night.
Also, there’s no Asia in Tyria.
Well, then just leave it out there for Pete’s sake. Plus, if I recall correctly, it’s not exactly the sweetest place to tread in.

I…. never really cared about elite specs. But I need to play this now.
Mhm. It will grant mobility to those wielding the weapon through the #3 skill. I do like the fact that this spec will bring Engi closer to a Warrior’s prowness through inventions.
I prefer anime and manga so no, it clearly is designed as a reference to battle angel alita
The exit is right there >>>>>>>>
Mecha Anchor all the way. I can always say that my charr ripped that anchor off mid-battle to defend himself and never parted ways with it ever since.
I experienced the reverse, somehow. While I’ve always sworn to remain Engi for the rest of my days, I couldn’t resist but to make a Thief a long time ago, when they they were.. sigh, very strong, to make my own experiences, I’ve then had the opportunity to screw around in PvP with it, I could make one distinct difference between the two classes in most of confrontations: The results.
On the Engi, I can find some light at the end of the tunnel when I manage to outsmart a D/D Ele or a Necro with both power and condition builds.
On the Thief, the said classes stopped giving a kitten if they wasted many of their skills somehow because they’ll kill me anyways, and adapting to a +1 or “Finisher” scheme gets you to greatly depend of others, that’s not always a good thing.
I agree, I hope they don’t got the idea to let go of the steampunk theme for a more scifi theme.
I doubt it. I mean, the Forge sounds like something that would come out of Sorrow’s Furnace, that can’t be more steampunk than this.
You typically use explosives for the vuln on explosions. And while it also affects conditions and stuff, you’re… better off going for Firearms instead if you plan on adding conditions in the equation. Assuming it’s one or the other.
When engineers bathe in their own bomb explosions when fighting no one bats an eye.
But when a charr uses a grenade launcher with one hand everybody loses their minds.
Come now, we’re trying to be serious here.
Well… So far, let’s rejoice that no devs give any of those the ability to change Thief.
It’s strange. The engi can’t dish out damage while taking it and vice versa. My bet is on soldier/knight + rampage.
Compared to kits, gadgets make you feel like a one trick pony, and a bad one at that. It’s very hard to get the power of a gadget to rival a kit with 5 skills.
And here I was, being happy with the changes and stuff that made the kit rational.
I think you meant Rabid, but whatever. The point is, only Burn and Confusion can potentially burst you down and many classes are given the possibility to shrug them off without even paying that much attention and therefore annihilating the damage of a condition spammer. Only Necro can potentially work around these defenses but they don’t even pack a punch on their own if they go condition damage. There only would be a condition meta if proper parties weren’t cleansing conditions 150 times per second by accident.
Make a giant norn with that mustache. I did lose against such a Thief because I was too busy grinning at this mountain doing acrobatics.
Engineers with ‘Elixir S’ x 2 + Vamp runes is too much if you ask me.
Not to mention their blocks and stealth/moa :/Im seeing a grow in Soldier Engineers using this build, as it is a bit too rewarding for making too many errors.
Either a nerf will come to Vamp Rune or CD increase on Elixir S.
The Elixir S trait has proven to be more of a thorn on the side than anything else, more often than not it will trigger right in the middle of your healing turret combo and stuff. Plus it’s just pure invincibility, you don’t do jack and CAN’T do jack during these 4 seconds compared to certain classes.
It’s.. uh, it’s a troll post, right? I mean, I understand the value of burning and stuff, but that paragraph with the Thief, man…
Should just make the Mortar a shoulder mount like the Predators plasma cannon
Ah, sadly, that’s way too far away from the Engineer as we know it. At the vert best, only the Rocket Turret’s toolbelt skill could be close to what you’re looking for, and still, there’s no reason to put it on your shoulder when you already have it in your belt.
Everytime I hear fracasseur I keep thinking fracasado, which is like failure in Spanish lol
Well I… didn’t see that one coming. ,_,
In French, Daredevil has bee translated as “Destroyer” or “Breaker” which is pretty corny I think.
Fracasseur. That’s a pretty questionable name for the spec. I’d have gone on the lines of Téméraire or something.
Weeb Hunt: Open.
KILL BILL IS OVERRATED. It’s another terrible American action movie with a woman pretending to be a real bad kitten but still manages to fix her make up while facing Bill at the end. Terrible movie, great for 6 year old girls. This movie is another insult to Asian martial arts, but I guess it’s hard to understand if you are a 6 year old girl.
Real action fighting movies: Ong Bak 1 2 and 3, Ip man, The Raid1 & 2( these ones are Golden) : serious fighting moves with serious damage that doesn’t rely on a childish “let me touch you five around nipple real quick”.
Wowowow, calm down. We know what you want your Thief to be, don’t worry, you’ll get it, no need to lose your kitten in there. Still, it’s advisable to try to not rain over other people’s parade by shoving your own parade down other people’s throats, especially for a name. For my part I wanted my Thief to have a bit more elegance and substance than being some insane action movie hero but eh, whatever.

Don’t prise something that has become worse … It looks too strange, it’s a mortar, why would you hold a mortar like a mini shotgun?! You definitly need both hands for the recoil … It just looks stupid – bad move anet – sry
You can’t promote the concept of bathing in your own bomb explosions and yell at the ability to use a grenade rifle with one hand for realistic reasons at the same time. Besides, a little Terminator feel shouldn’t hurt that bad.

its a good idea if you moa them too
If he survived, it’s highly unlikely that he tossed the moa afterwards, unless there was a dodge in the equation.
That’s how PvP has been these last years, add the fact that GW2 scratches the surface of Esports and you have it, a lethal disease at every PvP encounter.
I have survived 14 stacks from a guard and 11 stacks from an engie.
I’m honestly surprised this Engie actually piled all his burns on one single combo.
Well I know the Norn has a similar one from what I’ve seen, have yet to find out about the rest of races.
Our mortar kit got different animations, it’s all one handed now. Not that I’m bothered by it , I’m even pleased with it but.. what a strange thing to look after in these times.
I meant monk as in .. Martial arts. =P Shaolin-esque
GW1 Monks would very much like to toss you into a volcano. Sadly, even for that their combat prowness was limited.
(edited by MrForz.1953)
Oh, look. Ninjas.
……?
soldiers wear heavy armor. correct
commandos wear less heavy armor in favor of mobility, silence, and practicality as you rely on ambush and flanking.
so….wheres the joke?
commando isn’t a soldiercommando is the one behind enemy lines. soldier is the one in the middle of the front lines
So uh, an engi?
I was a die hard Staff supporter and I still am. If rifle was release, I would have been kittened for real, but that’s it. I could understand if you didn’t like the weapon, and elite traits sucked, and cores trait are reduced to ash. Completely understand.
BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. it’s just a new weapon.
All of you switching chars cause Thief is getting Staff;
All of you who will stop playing because Thief is getting Staff;GOOD RIDDANCE, I tell you. For it shows how questionable your loyalty to the profession was in the first place. You didn’t even see traits or weapon skills but act like you are agonizing in injustice and oozing of some imaginary unsatisfactory performance by Anet.
GOOD RIDDANCE and see you in WvW on your mesmers.
It will be a delight Finishing you turncloaks with my Daredevil.
I wasn’t a fan of either rifle or staff, while I’m completly indifferent at the decision, your whole text kind of sweats hypocrisy. Both staff and rifle believers were in the same boat in terms of questionability towards the Thief class. If the outcome was Rifle, one of its believers would write the exact same thing above with one of two key words changed.
Someone pleased with his Thief wouldn’t have been part of that pointless feud, but both of you “factions” didn’t only want your weapon, you also wanted to rub it in, to unleash a torrent of salt on the opposite side. That’s not a sign of loyalty towards the Thief.

We already got slow melee attack in toolkits, it would be great if we could get something faster with hammers. I know it isn’t how hammers use to be, but considering how revenant use them, I think we are free to mount some rockets on them to help the attack speed.
Yeah well, for some reason, equipping a greatsword gives your Warrior the ability to cross great distances in a blink. So honestly, what’s “supposed” to be, well.
- Daredevil: as an adjective, “recklessly bold or adventurous.” This is the entire opposite of Thief and the style it presents. I mean, recklessness and stealth don’t really work together.
You know that Stealth is only a category for the Thief, right? It’s quite present given the current state and stupidity but Stealth doesn’t make the Thief. Think of something based on acrobatics for once.
Two QQ members that aren’t thieves or mesmers? I must have missed them.
Honest question, why not go Knight for the time being?
This Berserker spec keeps making me think of the Hellborn specced Krieg, the Psycho from BL2. I personally find this awesome.
Well, at least it’s not just “Staff”… kinda like you know… the “Forge”….
We like our “Forge”, thank you very much.
Do I see player suggestions get implemented? Honestly, I couldn’t keep track of if one did or not simply because of the sheer volume of them. Again, implying player suggestions should be implemented takes the stance that devs can’t do their job and need players to tell them what to do. I don’t think that’s close to being true. If devs started implementing player suggestions to the point where we would notice, everyone should be VERY concerned for the state of the game. There also might be actual business reasons they don’t do such a thing as well. We can’t assume it’s just because they ignore them.
There might be some concepts based on many player-made suggestions but those could have been coincidences. After all, devs are supposed to have the better judgement, you’d hope -at best- that players would agree with it.
Also, you have a nickname that reminds me of a time that is now loooong past, on another game, it almost frightens me.
(edited by MrForz.1953)
Oh this bug’s been there for a loooong while. It only was kind of fixed. People stopped caring on the long run.
Ugh, minions. It’s as overrated as dual wielding. If it’s actual AI that will be without me. Tired of Engineers in games having to rely on either turrets or AI.
Oh god no. I’m already used to pressing that button when getting off kits.
What is wildstar never heard about it ?
The Engineer of Wildstar had the ability to go into an exosuit form for roughly 10 or 15s with a 60s cooldown and it gave various effects depending if you went tank or DPS. That’s not that much epicness sadly.
Getting smashed around by a warrior with a greatsword?
Indeed, what’s so appealing about it?
Sadly, that’s far too much. Until HoT proves me wrong (and it might be the case, seeing what we’ve seen), we’re Engineers, not Tony Stark. While I do love resorting to an exoskeleton to match the strength of superpowered enemies, the game’s not fit for that kind of stuff.
(edited by MrForz.1953)
Wut? Don’t you know how elite specs are supposed to work?
I clearly do. But the very fact that people pretty much eat eachother on that spec/weapon warfare tells that people don’t want the Thief, they want their own stuff and concepts to be approved by Anet and pick up the remains of the class, it’s ridiculous to witness. For the time being, why not go for Warrior if you want excessive brutality with a massive weapon?
Honestly, if you don’t want to play a Thief, why remain on this class?
