If GW2 truly had the “friendliest” community i’m sure the huge influx of bored WOW players will make it the happiest place on earth. I just can’t wait to see how much fun it will be with trolls everywhere.
(and chat isn’t the only or even the best way to troll, just the LFG tool itself is proof of that!)

The issue is that laurels can be turned into gold.
This concerns me. I’ve never been one to jump on the elitist bandwagon when it comes to F2P vs. Paid debate but the fact that Joe Smith from Botsvilia can create 1000 accounts and just camp in for the daily rewards as a form of revenue generation could have an effect on market prices.
This game is basically a F2P model anyways with micro transactions being the main form of revenue but removing the initial $10 to $50 cost per account would open the door to problems we cannot predict.
~Dr. Seuss
I completely agree on the “Certainty” aspect. With the past system when I was making an ascended or legendary piece I knew exactly how many levels/skill points I needed to complete before I could buy the ingredient I needed.
Other than the 3 per day now from the daily it’s just a crap shoot with the RNG on how long it will take. For those who like to lay out their goals and work towards them this is a pretty big wrench in the works. Yes it’s easy to get them still but there’s no focal point to put your efforts towards.
~Dr. Seuss
If you know your class well and have the ability to melee
What exactly does this mean???? " “Have the ability to Melee”? Is that code for “play your class the way I think you should play it or you’re a noob”?
It sounds like the exact type of elitist attitude the OP said was the reason why he doesn’t like running fractals.
~Dr. Seuss
Without a doubt there’s one guild in particular that does this which I will not name. Once you meet them you should know better and move on to the next map but it’s pretty cruel to do to a map full of players who are ready to give 100%.

XP past 80…….
There isn’t any reward for xp past 80 it’s just a bunch of pretty numbers you can make bigger by using potions from the gem store or from achievement rewards.
We all have differing viewpoints on this issue and I agree with the OP that it would be nice to get something for XP but I fear that this will be added to the many times before this same question has been asked.

So if XP is used to buy masteries in HoT, does that mean that all the old players who have a stack of 100 tomes sitting around will simply instantly be maxed out?
Tested this in Beta this weekend, no dice. Tomes did not add mastery points they only gave spirit shards.

It isn’t right and we’re getting the short stick but as usual the shills jump in and bury the problem behind rhetoric.
So add this post to the many times before this same question has been asked and maybe they will ad a “beating a dead horse” task to the daily that rewards an xp potion only usable by level 80 toons……. oh wait, that already exists!

I’m having an issue on one of my computers since upgrading to windows 10. If I do not set the taskbar to auto hide when I play the game in full screen 2560/1600 if I click on the hotkey with my mouse on the bottom portion of the icon it minimizes the game and my desktop pops up. The only fix I have found to this is to set the taskbar to auto hide every time I play the game.

I say make ‘em even harder, one wrong dodge and you’re down in one hit. That way the casuals will leave even faster and the game will follow the path of wildstar. That ’ll be “hardcore” ammirite?
I agree 100% with the sarcasm here. The first place you zone into in HoT has a mob that 1 shots anything that isn’t good at dodging to the side. That will make sure the casuals and lesser skilled players will leave very quickly and we will have an empty game.
Contained areas with this strong of a mob such as Silverwastes was with Teragriffs is a better way to have harder content, but not getting jumped in the open world by a mob hiding in a bush while you’re walking into a town and most certainly not in the entrance area of an entire expansion.

These are the gem store purchases that people recommend over & over again:
- Copper-fed Salvage-o-matic, especially to those who farm for hours and need to make room in their inventory on the fly. (And to those like myself that sometimes salvage 1,000s of items in a row.)
- Watchwork Mining Pick, the only gem store item that is profitable to use (although requires on to be a heavy-duty miner).
Especially the mining pick. I harvest the T5 materials zones daily and the extra sprockets add about 4 to 7 gold per day to my profits. Not to mention the sprockets are the only way to mass produce blade shards also https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blade_Shard

This question was asked years ago:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Guildwide-email-how-to-send
Since then I haven’t seen much traction on it. I understand the extreme abuse that would happen if you could send mass mail to anyone but for officers and guild leaders this is an important tool in any MMO for reasons I don’t need to state.
Does this exist yet in GW2 or is it a dead issue still?

No offense but first every other week there was “PLS remove wvw map completion, it’s so tedious, we don’t want to do it” now it’s “we want to buy it” I get your point, but I hope you get mine as well.
So true. There’s a reason why the character that completes map gets a star next to their name along with the gifts, because they earned it.
Making GoE purchasable would be the same as allowing any player who has completed a lv50 fractal to zone in and buy the final chest from an NPC at the front door from then on without actually having to run the zone. Yeah i’m bored to tears running dungeons but I don’t complain about having to rerun them to keep getting the end reward.
Spot on.. Lazy and whining is all I hear too. I don’t see the responses in this thread below to be much different….

I think they draw a line between “Crafting Material” and “Crafting Component” although i’m not sure how they come to the decision of which is which. The only class that has recipes for both is Chef but as far as I can tell if it’s linked to a particular LS item it’s not considered a “material”.
Which leaves us to ponder why those Pristine Toxic Spore Samples that grow in Kessex Hills ever made it in as a depositable item, and the tinfoil hat brigade would suggest that it’s probably just another way they get you to buy more bag space.

I have sounds off anyway but why don’t you turn down environmental sounds if you don’t like mini sounds?
I enjoy the conversations with the NPC’s as well as many of the combat and game sounds because they add to my experience. Playing with the sound turned off removes a large portion of the game.
Minis are not part of MY game experience. They are something that another player has chosen to put into the game and i am happy they enjoy listening to a mutant hybrid coughing up phlegm but it’s something I would like the option to block somehow.

One of the focal points of marketing for Anet is to fill up inventory slots so that players purchase more. I don’t think any kind of change that would make it cheaper to store items is going to happen in this game ever.
It’s probably also why we will never see anything larger than a 20 slot bag or a discount on runes of holding. I’m actually amazed they put in the collection reward 20 slot bag as well as allowing maize balms to be perpetual.

I’m not a fan of fractals and I doubt this will lure new players into doing them on a mass scale.
But my reasons for not liking them have more to do with frustrating pugs, unforgiving strats if you have 1 or 2 lesser skilled players in groups and more importantly the total lack of any kind of check system when a player joins a group with less AR than is required for the dungeon being run.
None of these issues are being addressed which ensures that fractals will continue to be restricted to players who want to endure hundreds of nightmare pugs or those who have a regular premade group.

I have a pretty ironclad password… If I’m misunderstanding this, someone, please enlighten me.
Passwords are pretty much worthless nowdays, and i’m almost willing to bet you have an email with your original serial key somewhere in your email folders which would be all a hacker needs to take over your account.
Multi layer security isn’t hacker proof but it does make you much less of a target to the extent that the time it would take to steal your account wouldn’t be worth the effort.

There’s no such ting as a perfect product upon release. The absolute best way to test something is to put it to it’s intended use which isn’t possible on any type of “test” server given the dynamics involved as well as the ingenious ways players will find to break something.
Even the most obvious mistake can slip by on a tester who is tired and has been working all night in a hurry to get the content out to the players and by coming here and throwing a tantrum about it you just guarantee it will be longer til we see the next update.
Get over it.
~Dr. Seuss
Unless you’re at a waypoint with a large, DPS-heavy group, this is an unrealistic fight.
This is the key to a lot of these bounties now, don’t engage unless you’re near a wp. Smaller guilds should probably wait til another guild who needs the same bounty shows up which means doing it during prime time.
As for dungeons, some of the mobs are stacking heavy dots but a well rounded group can easily get around that. Some full zerker gorups are getting destroyed trying to do it the old way.

The only time I have anything close to this issue is when i’m trying to press F to use a crafting station and the vendor responds.

I’m sure there’s many I missed, the short story is we’re getting the short stick on XP until HoT is released and possibly thereafter.
I wouldn’t mind if they completely removed the xp bar once you hit cap but having all these xp bonuses given as rewards and guild buffs PLUS the bright yellow XP numbers splashed across the screen when it’s all useless is kind of a slap in the face.
No point in pursuing the issue though, as you can see from earlier topics on this the usual shills jump in and do their best to make it seem like we’re being unreasonable for expecting something for xp and that we are in the minority.

What I’d really like is that If I’m close enough to an object to interact with it, I want to remain facing the way I was when the interaction started.
This is the bane of the GW2 UI and I agree it’s extremely annoying to have your auto face react with anything other than potentially hostile mobs but I have yet to find a way around it in 2+ years of playing.
Just plan on this UI to randomly spin you away from your camera direction at any time when interracting with anything in the game is the best approach and FYI it’s not limited to MAC clients.

Why you guys play PVE?
For me it’s about setting a personal goal (Gear/Task/Wealth) and working to achieve it. Map completion on all classes was one that I really dug into, reaching 5k gold through investment and farming was another but in the end it’s about setting a finish line and seeing how well you reach it.
For the goal oriented and obsessive type of personality it’s a way of venting without driving your family or friends completely insane.
Personally I have never seen the point in PvP. To me it boils down to making yourself feel good by making someone else feel bad. I guess that’s just a part of human nature I didn’t absorb to well
~Dr. Seuss
When you say “between 10% and 30%” are you referring to that percentage overall, or just for the specific maps that you recently completed?
The specific map, and I was able to complete Metrica Province today on 3 of the same toons, 2 of them got a reward chest and a third got the chest briefly and then it disappeared and there was a transmutation shard in my bags.
I noted the difference between the third toon was I had over 10 unclaimed renown hearts where the wiggle chest appeared briefly, I starting to think this may be causing the chest to auto open somehow.
~Dr. Seuss
These characters had between 10% and 30% map completion when I started them so the scenario Inculpatus mentioned wouldn’t apply, and what brought it to my attention was the total lack of any “wiggle chest” when I reached 100% I could understand 1 chest as an anomaly but 3 consecutive toons through the same zone made me think they may have changed the method and type of reward they are giving.
~Dr. Seuss
No change. I’ve done several on the last few days and it’s the same.
I have done quite a few in the last couple weeks and every time I finish a map I get a blue rewards chest. These last 3 times I did not which is the basis of my question.. did they just remove the chest and auto loot a transmutation charge into your bags now?
~Dr. Seuss
Did they change how we receive map completion rewards?
I went through Caledon forest today and finished the map on 3 characters and never got a map completion chest. There was however a transmutation shard in my bags that appeared somehow but no gear or 40 stack of zone levels materials.
~Dr. Seuss
When I did map completion this last time I did 5 toons at once, each zone i did on each class and then moved to the next zone. While the Mesmer is definitely the slowest I would have to give a slight edge to the Thief as the fastest overall. I’ve done all classes now and the mobility combined with the burst damage and ability to get out of combat quickly(stealth) make hearts very easy. Also moving in between hearts is easier because what you cannot avoid will die in 1 or 2 hits. Guardian is a close second because of the power/survivabilty combined with endless run speed.
On a side note, because of how easy it is between hearts to kill random mobs on a Thief my bags were twice as full as any other character when I finished a zone.

If you move the scale back to 2013 you can see it’s basically been a steady rise in gold cost per gem with spikes around the release of new BLTP items, but as a whole if you wait until the market dips (like it is right now) then you’re buying at about the best exchange you can get considering it won’t ever go back down, I realize this is a gem cost scale but the conversion is directly relative to the opposite.
I’m sure Wanze has some better info on this though.

SO now for the 8th time in the last 2 weeks i do map completion in a zone and when I log in a couple days later it’s reverted back to about 50%.
I thought maybe I was tired the first 2 times I had to do Blazeridge and Bloodtide but when I logged in last night All of my Orr maps had reverted back to 50%ish also. I don’t mind doing Orr again because the rewards are nice but this bug is getting annoying when it does it to the other maps. I do know for a FACT I completed Orr in May on this toon because I ran it with 2 guildmates who still have completion and remember me being there.
It’s even to the point where I wont have credit for a point of interest that lies directly underneath a completed Hero challenge which would be logistically impossible.
Is anyone else having this issue?
~Dr. Seuss
I would support an ebay-like system where you can place a max bid where people bidding lower would automatically get outbid by you until your max bid was surpassed. I like the OP’s suggestion as well.
Then it becomes an auction, not a trading post. If they added a selling option to conclude the sale at a certain time you would still have to babysit every item you are bidding on during the last few minutes of the sale because thats when the real selling price will be determined.
I enjoyed these systems in Rift and Diablo 3 (before they removed it) but i can’t say it would be an improvement.
~Dr. Seuss
If you think that is tedious you are free to up it by whatever amount you feel like. The game isn’t going to stop you so why aren’t you doing that?
I kind of agree with this. It’s a pain to have to sit on bids but if you really want the item and you know you’re willing to pay more for it just bid your personal max.

I save all of my T5 inscription mats and when i get a stack of each I craft tons of weapons to toss in the toilet. Been playing since startup and so far Iv’e got 2 Dusks and Leaf of Kudzu. All 3 were looted early on Sunday mornings.
Mostly i get common exotics but sometimes they have decent sigils on them. I’m guessing i’m about even so far on gold if I would have just sold the mats and bought the pre. To be totally honest I don’t expect one to ever drop in the game for me.
