In addition to your questionable “their 60 bucks are worth less than my 60 bucks” stance, you make an arbitrary assumption that people who don’t like hardcore content log in for only one hour a month.
I have logged 1,600+ hours in Guild Wars 2, and I don’t like hardcore content.
Case closed.
You get what you pay for with your $60.00. ArenaNet would be very foolish though to not support people actually using the gem store. You know, the people actually paying for the continued development of all of the new content.
How do you think they are paying their employees without releasing expansions?
Democracy is probably the worst way to make decisions. Sorry to be blunt, but a player who logs on an hour a month shouldn’t have as much power in decisions that affect the entire game as someone who plays 10 hours a week.
Here’s a picture, same time, 50% hp difference
Look at all that BG hate from that guy! Not cool.
For the longevity of the content, I believe the daily reward should be redesigned into a weekly reward similar to Guild Missions. That way, players get a bigger burst of loot and won’t have to organize every day for victory.
You need to participate in the Battery Event a bit for credit. Kill some mobs at the Megalaser then go back to cleaning up the Fingers of Tequatl at the landing zone.
Then we got a bug where the MegaLaser got instagibbed as you can see in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnxF6gdZZmQ
Grats on your kill! On a related note, what happened to your Megalaser in that video is not really a bug. You can see an Abomination and he bends over to do his charge attack against a player, but the Megalaser is in the way. It’s similar to the Fiery Greatsword glitch, and repeatedly strikes it.
Abominations do not spawn during the Battery Events, but they do attack the Turrets. Just be careful against those!
Yes many others servers are having as much success as BG. It’s better to spread out more than to flood into a single server. It just lowers everyone odds of a successful run!
Tell everyone to use an Ember next time!
Maybe consider making a guild and inviting everyone on your server that is willing to kill the dragon!
If there is no enrage timer, a boss can be solo’ed if given enough time. Pretty epic imo. (sarcasm)
Grats SBI!

Tip: If you want to be awesome during the Burn, bring Fire Elemental Powder. On everyone.
I’m on SoR, and guess what every time I do Teq I’m on the overflow. Even if you didn’t have guests, there’s a good chance you’d still be in overflow. Stop crying about guests and be a good host.
Here’s a story:
Today BG was fighting Tequatl about an hour before the reset on the BG’s main Sparkfly Fen map. Many were there helping repeat the kill for those that needed it for the day.
The problem came with the the patch that was pushed mid-attempt. You see, there are many players actively trying to Guest onto BG so when they saw this patch they immediately snagged it and joined the “new” BG Sparkfly Fen map, shutting out 100+ BG players who were helping kill Tequatl at that moment.
Tequatl spawned shortly thereafter and no Commander was willing to help or use any strategy. This would not have even been so bad, but the players who guested were also very rude, especially the Commanders. One Commander from Darkhaven was very abrasive and telling everyone they were terrible for no reason.
Instead is being a condescending priq ill just suggest that if you wanted harder content you could run around naked or something. Instant challenge.
Instead of you trying to do content you can’t win, why not stick to killing Bandits in Queensdale?
I know, but do you know how organized that attempt was? They had nearly everyone on TS, people that care enough to actually listen. Things that I have not been seeing with the general populous in the overflows, or even on my home server.
The fight does not require much to survive: Don’t stand in red circles and dodge the Shockwave. Players also don’t need Commanders telling them when to leave the Battery Events; just look at their health and judge accordingly. VOIP is only there for guidance, but eventually a meta will evolve once players are more knowledgeable.
IMHO the dragon should be killable with 3:30 seconds available on the timer. and this is not the case.
He was killed with a bit over 2:00 to spare on BG during their first kill. This was with massive amounts of death in Phase 1, and also a Bone Wall going up.
He’s going to watch Breaking Bad.
You have to understand that the downtime for attempting Tequatl is a huge factor in learning. After six hours, the dragon will have only been attempted four times. During this time and afterwards many players will have come and gone. Since it’s been over 12 hours since the patch, the players attempting him now are mostly new. We just need more time for the general population to have more attempts at him.
That said… the HP’s on this thing are just stupid. It doesn’t matter if BG beat it on the first day, it’s still an issue where SO MANY classes and builds are just completely excluded from even damaging the stupid thing fast enough. Especially berserkers and they probably don’t even realize it yet. Anet needs to do a polling really on how many people show up to this fight with pure PVT gear (b/c those are the only stats that make sense since critting doesn’t work) … then factor it’s overall HP to that ratio.
Just because your build isn’t optimal for DPS on Tequatl does not mean it is useless. Condition builds are useful for killing the adds attacking the Turrets, for example. Critical Damage and Precision builds are also good for the same reasons.
Saw him three times tonight, first barely got to 75%, second didn’t cross 85%, and the last one didn’t even reach 95%.
Heck, that first one it wasn’t even a terribly good reward.
Getting him to 75% is actually more than half way done with the fight though, in terms of length!
I believe if you do not participate in the Battery Event, you do not get partial credit. Try to kill a creature within the event circle closest to you. Fortunately, this is a daily reward so you can try to get it next time!
Are the turret AoE skills not limited to 5 players receiving the boon?
It’s much more than 5, but it does not buff an entire zerg.
All you are doing is making this game less accessible to newer players. Leave the bosses the way they were. Add new bosses/dragons in addition. Come on. This is just lazy.
It’s one boss.
its around 28%, close to 25%.
-blackgate
I think that’s 31.72% or 31.715210355987055016181229773463%
I might have been off by a slight amount the exact pixel measurement is sometimes off for the way anets bars work.
uploaded the bar used. Someone can tell me if it’s off.
The health bar from targeting is useless. Use the event tracker.
Why put time limits on bosses at all ?
What is their reasoning or motive for that ?
Because then it matters if you die.
My opinion is objective fact.
Crit damage is useless here. You cannot crit Tequatl. Just raw power builds are needed that have invested a bit toughness/regeneration instead of crit. dmg. That’s enough.
Can any DPS builds confirm this? I know a lot of people mistakenly think all world bosses cannot be crit. Did A net remove the ability to crit on Tequatl?
You definitely cannot crit him.
The Megalaser took off a bit of his HP, and then when he was Stunned we were able to deal a ton of extra damage to him.
Use Powerful Potion of Undead Slaying for 10% more damage against him and 10% less damage taken.
I can see this working on the adds, but does it actually work on Tequatl itself?
If not then use Superior Sharpening Stone
Use Powerful Potion of Undead Slaying for 10% more damage against him and 10% less damage taken.
Tequatl cannot be Critically Hit, so if you’re devoted to attacking him use Power gear primarily. Soldier’s or Carrion is perfectly fine and pretty safe for learning.
And if the Warrior uses Endure Pain with Balanced Stance with Last Stand, you’re basically out of luck.

Jade Maw’s Agony hits for 1172% every second. Until that value is lowered, we obtain 950’ish AR, or a new exploit surfaces to bypass the mechanic, 50+ even levels are off-limits.
To those that are nay-saying challenging content:
The Queen’s Gauntlet was a success.
No one is asking to remove casual/easy/simple content, but to simply pay credence to the fact that there are those looking for a challenge in the game and to provide something.
A player in full Ascended gear (Weapon, Accessories and Armor) will have 5% more weapon damage and 5% more stats compared to someone in Exotic gear.
It’s not a big deal.
A gear treadmill is more like how WoW released gear. Every six months to a year, a new tier of gear was released that was at least 14% more powerful than the best gear you could possibly obtain at that point. This included every single armor slot. It immediately invalidated what you owned, and it was necessary to obtain it because all the creatures of the new content were balanced around having this increase in power.
That is a gear treadmill. GW2 is not, although it is very grindy.
The traps are there as a means to guide you away from an unintended path. They aren’t random, but are very precisely placed. Take the most convoluted, difficult path to the checkpoint and you will win!
Here’s a short list of people who care about your opinion: ______________
I would think that Robert Hrouda (dungeon dev, was pretty active in those parts) recently leaving ANet has something to do with it.
He wasn’t working on the dungeons since AC anyways.
The post in a nutshell:
- Gets an Ascended Weapon for free. Complains on the forums about it.
If they were going to allow you to choose the weapon and the stats, then you should expect the odds of getting it to be reduced by at least a factor of 10.
In order to survive the Jade Maw in Difficulty Scale 50+, one of these three things needs to happen:
- You find an exploit to bypass the mechanic.
- The designers lower the current damage value of its Agony attack. (1172%)
- You gain around 950 total Agony Resistance.
Just have to wait for someone to remove that extra “1”. It was designed to be impossible and it’s pretty bulletproof right now.

What you need to do, is this:
Go back to the old ways of pre-Gauntlet. Where achievements were fun and relaxing and easy and interesting. Those were the days. Not this gauntlet, Liadri, Tribulation stuff when it’s just stupidly hard content.
GW2 was so much fun when it was nice and casual.
In other words:
Make more content only I can enjoy. Never make content for those that seek challenge. Ever.
Self-centered.
The advice above does work; it requires a dip jump or dodge jump to reach the far mushroom. I think the intended route is to actually jump down to the left (off of the tree) and into the cave full of jump pads. (You have to hit a crocodile to enter) Once you reach the top, watch out for the No Clouds. You can get Moto’s Breath (elite skill) while you’re there at the secret shop.

The forums are always going to be a cesspool of negativity. No one is going to come and say, “This content is adequate; I have no complaints” and those that enjoy it are too busy having fun.
My friends and I are all very happy with the release, and are thankful for the hard work put into this content. I mean, there are three modes: Infantile, Normal, and Tribulation. What other release has offered even a second difficulty to as much content as this? Everything seems very well polished as well.
The moving platforms are a lot of fun! I imagine they will be utilized in other content, like dungeons. The ice is awesome; I hope to see it used more in the open world especially!
It’s a convenience item. You can show your support to ANet by purchasing it, or by farming the gold in game and buying it that way. You can always wait for more detailed guides on how to do Tribulation Mode and use your own Continue Coins if you still do not want to buy it.
It’s about ArenaNet’s decision to expend resources on a mode that they themselves know only caters to a select few.
So Infantile and Normal Mode aren’t enough?
You realize there are players who dislike Super Adventure Box altogether because of all of the jumping involved. Maybe you want to scrap the whole thing since that does not cater to everyone in the game.
Celestial is already over-budget. The Amulet has the equivalent of 389 Attribute Points. (Critical damage is worth 1% for every 9.4 stats) Compare this to A standard Ascended Amulet which have 296 Attribute Points.
31% more stats isn’t enough?

Make sure you kill Chomper first, otherwise the Achievement will bug out.
