I didnt have guild karma boost in the longest time tbh. and 15% is not enough to equal the different (56 is what i would get from guild boost), but the actual different is 90.

I would have to check wvw. A tower used to give 800 karma, slowly upgraded to just below 1000 karma, havent played wvw in ages, but with birthday blaster it now should get 1000+ karma (cause extra ap karma). If it’s less, it’s a nerf. Keep gave almost 1900 i think. With all boosters possible i remember 2712 in stonemist.

Now i get 503 with 33% bonus. (wich is correct with the base that even pop up show – 378).

10% from birthday blaster (tested and still works) 23% from karma (this still works, as i tested it with 22% and 23%, as i got karma upgrade today from achievements).

In the past (dunno why) for like last 7 months at least: I got 588 karma (then 593 then 597, in increments when my achievements when up with a karma boost). It ended at the 597 (would now be 603 karma). Maybe that was a bug, but for the longest time ever, Silverwaiste gave me 590 karma (with birthday blaster).

Either a but has been out a long time, but I suspect not.

Hi. I am good at remembering numbers, and i’m pretty sure in past i got about 590 karma per event from lvl 80 event (like in silverwaiste etc).

Today i got much less.499 tops wich karma from birthday blaster, 460 without) I tested if the birthday blaster was bugged but it’s not. Neither is karma gain from achievements (i by coindidance today crossed an achievement tresshold that adds more karma). That karma gain works.

Wich can only mean one thing: base karma is severely lowered, about 100-150.

Why would Anet do this? Especially during wintersday wich give so much (and sorta requires a lot also).

Is this change permanent, Gaile?

Btw Xyonon, any advice as ‘engie seeker duty’ on how to push 2 (or even 3, if they are stacked closely) seekers all the way back with 1 skill?

My problem often is that, because they are not close to each other, if you stand between them, just a little back (towards pillar with boss), that if you use Bomb F (toolbelt skill) huge knockback, or flamethrower knockbac, that sometimes, instead of going to the middle of the room, they do sideways, wich means they almost didnt get knocked ‘away’. how do you prevent a mess like this? I mean if you ask me push ‘1 seeker away, that is your duty’, easy as cake, but i’m very often finding myself responsible for all 3 (cause nobody else using CC skill). A well timed big old bomb does wonders, however, badly times (or interfered with chill, immobalize at wrong time etc), can bring huge mess (even as bad as knocking them towards the melee team).

Secondly, what do you do as engie, if you start taking huge damage, and your healing is already on cd? i try to use water field + flamethrower blast finishter but sometimes it doesnt work. Is the druid then responsible for you? Cause some ppl say ‘druid only focussed melee, if ranged get damaged, they have to ’solve it themselve’.

I think i might delay on the warrior viper armor. A nerf like you think will happen, might actually happen. Secondly apart from that build, warrior is still boring to me (just don’t like the class). Engie i love a lot, and i have plans to make ‘H.o.p.E’ legendary, and a new hammer if it comes out (dont like juggernaut). I will try to maximize engie dps first, see how it goes.

1500×3 (wich is maybe not very clear, but in my past for sure) = 4500. Not far off from your nade. And nade 3 has very much bleeding.

As about poison dart volley: after fired, you see about 3k poison damage on the screen tick for a few secs. That is why i take 3k as dps. Ofc it’s a bursty skill, doing much more in it’s casting time frame, and a bit fewer when on cd, lingering off.

I’m also starting to experiment with with JaxnX dps meter. It seems to work good, but not great over a long time. And if you really spam to much different conditions, it seems it cannot keep up (wich is a shame, cause spike dps is the most interesting imo with such meter.)
If you get your rotations perfect (and dodges, so you dont loose time), i think my engie can sustain 10-11k dps (7k burn + 3k other source, +1k power dps, maybe more).

11k engie, versus (to my eyes, on average) 13-14k warrior. Not much diff imo.

I’m using SINISTER armor though. Rune of the berserker. I think warrior has the crazy advantage that he does so much burn spam that that +45% burn duration runes are insanely good, better then the 300-400 condition damage flat out runes (rune of undeath etc).

This video guy (DNT) clearly had NO issues (they are good at what they do). Looking at THAT very vid, i see 14k dps. If you see more please explain to me.

Anyhow, it’s not like i don’t agree. It’s 90% likely i will make heavy viper ascended armor, this month because of it.

Some things to notice: The warrior had frost spirit (no biggie, but still), Sun spirit (this is a biggie, my engie never had sun spirit support, wich means this warrior extra dps is partially justified by better support), i think sun spirit is about 700-900 dps extra. He also has the 3% damage/condie damage when druid heals (by trait) buff often, i rarely have that as green circle duty. These two things make for me the warrior not look as good as he should. I speak from a pug point of view (in wich DnT ofc completely crushes with superior team capability).

That beind SAID: Warrior has one advantage, that in the movie was not shown: Alacrity is better suited on warrior. Most engineer skills have an annoying channel time of about 1 sec, alacrity in the end will stop being usefull if all those skill cost cast time. Warrior skills are faster, and easier to reach (only two weapons skills, with probably fast hands). Having alacrity on a few, very strong skills, then more ‘mediocre skills’, the first is better, in wich the warrior would take more advantage. To my eyes, the DnT warrior never had alacrity, so that could push it for sure.

Same for me as Monica. Are the ‘easy in sapphire’ guys perhaps a dragon hunter or reaper? Those profs, stacked seem to win 70% of time (i’m often matched against them).

I see, 15 Diamond per Hearth of mist instance, one day i managed to get in 10 different items within 5 min. all had this much ppl in it (including Diamond).

Anet must suck badly if they can’t Queue 150 Diamonds against each other. Unless half of them are cheating their way down the MMR ladder.

I agree warrior is better then Engie.

However Xyonon is exaggerating (probably hates engie for a weird reason). The best i saw from warrior is 11k burn. Most of time it was down to 7k. Bleeds were pretty low sometimes a 3k spike, but really really rare). So basically 7-11k dps (+ power).

What does engie have? spikes of 16k burn (i admit they are rare, but they are there), stacks poison, confusion, and bleeds also very well in a good rotation. Longbow auto attack from warrior has always been one of the weakest damage things. It still is. 1200 per hit. A nade deals 1500 (sinister), PER single grenade (thats 3 per strike). Pistol 2 does 6k damage (though long channel).

A very well played engie (supported by a group that knows how to handle engies weaknesses, like a druid healing you every now and then), is about 80-90% as strong as the warrior. So reason to kick engie? not at all.

That being said, this video, convinced me, that warrior is the holy grail in raids. Wich is a bit sad. But my v iper armor for it is already half made.

They are not meant to be stronger. But Anet is probably dissapointed in HoT sales, so they are trying to ‘delay’ the inevitable huge nerf inc to elite specs, to first get more peopel feel forced to buy it.

70% of matchups in Sapphire i have to beg people to sign up their duty’s, (close, mid, far). 40% of matches, nobody signs up anything (meaning i gotta go close often, with a professions not truly designed for it).

I’m on T1 of sapphire. Going much harder then emerald for me. Emerald was 10 wins or 15 loose streaks (wich means easy tier crossing overall).

Sapphire is, win ,loose, win, loose, loose, win, loose, win, win, loose ,loose, etc; Haven’t crossed tier 1 yet because of this.

In sapphire, for some reason, SoloQ works way better then TeamQ (perhaps cause all TeamQ’s are tank, CC spam, still good damage meta build users).

My biggest gripe in sapphire is the number of DH’s. I once was matched against 3. They put traps, and you know they gonna pull you but animation of when is pretty hard to predict, then poof, you are pulled by their F skill. Some Dh’s choose marauder amulet, and then their traps wipe you in few secs. Later in the game i beat that same DH 3 times, but alas, the opening score advantage was to big.

Have a person inside leave, have the person with bug join, reinvite the person who left, fixed (most of time).

What also seems to work is: the bugged person, leaves party, he restarts game, you reinvite, he should get pop up (though this might be a ‘sometimes fix, and not always’.

This bug is incredible annoying.

Most Amber players are better then the Amber rank gives them to be. Especially now that most ‘amber level players’ are Emerald already by just ‘playing a lot, forcing the luck to their side’. This means that unless the player is really bad (and by playing 5 games daily, till the end of league would still be AMBER), he is actually taking profit of a lower mmr then he actually should have. The Diamond player also takes profit of this MMR ‘flaw of math’.

They lower the risk of pip loss.

They heavely increase the chance to win.

Because every single win (even if you are 100000000% favored to win), gives at least a pip, this basically is deceiving the system in two ways:

Lower chance to loose.
If you loose, you loose less pips
If you win, wich you got increased chance to, you get garanteed pip.

That’s 3 things, that over time will heavely improve your win rate and pip gain rate. I’d say for some people, this potentially adds a 20% higher pip gain rate then they should have.

To conclude further, this would set back a lot of diamonds back to emerald/Ruby.

Also these guys clearly want to get superior much pips. It’s their main focus. Woot they got diamond. They dream is almost realized. Why back down then? Is the risk suddenly to big to play normal? Is using dope (mmr fixing), to tempting now? Yes it is. Players are pip, league rank, title, and loot hungry. If Anet gives them no signs it’s wrong thing to do, they will deceive the system.

Like I could invite my friend (or use him accout myself), wich doenst play gw2 anymore. His rank atm? 0. My rank? 3. This would mean I artificially cheated 3 ranks down, so get better matchups. For me (cause i would play other account), no big gain. But the guy queueing with me, gets a superior huge advantage (cause my real rank is III and my ingame ‘thought by mmr system rank’ is 0). I just cheated,3 ranks in favor of my duo Q partner.

I could do this you know. But I don’t. It’s not ethical. Seeing as everyone and their mother players ‘meta’ comps now, it also proves people are addicted to wins, and scared as hell from looses. Seeing how much athletes use dope in such situations, i think it’s fair to say, a lot of player ‘fell’ for the easier pip farming method, and mmr fixing.

So yeah use your excuse, but meanwhile, you are loosing less pips when you loose then intended (ppl with a normal Q composition have it worse), you win more (thus overall gain more pips), and you are fighting weaker enemies, wich in return will make the ‘random lotery’ that matchmaking kinda is lately, more in your favor.

That’s 3 ways, that the ‘mmr fixing people’ have to their advantage, that other players playing in similar fashion don’t. To make it worse, the people that they beat all the time, LOOSE more often then they should. Making it a snowball effect of Non fixing mmr ppl loosing more, and MMR fixing ppl winning more. Let’s be honest here, diamond requires such a high win rate, and if you are not crazy lucky, play 24/7, or have a crazy good team, that you should not be that rank yet. A normal 55% win rate, 45% loos rate, would ping pong your pips so often up and down, that from ruby to diamond would take at least 3 weeks. Some ppl bypassed this, quite a lot so. I’m not denying some it’s because playtime, player skill, or a good team. But there’s to many to not suspect mmr fixing.

To make it worse: these people so focussed on getting pips in right or wrong way, are making pvp less balanced, less fun. A lot of people might leave pvp because of that, wich might kill the gamemode even faster then it already was. For your own sake: stop it so pvp can grow HEALTY again (mmr fixing is not healthy pvp).

You can disagree, naysay, wonk innocent all you want. It’s ethical not correct to other players, and you know it deep down in your heart, it’s why you are so proud, of the diamond tag.

Solar Beam damage as druid

Channel spells add the damage they do till they finish it. If you very quickly ‘cast a channel again’, it may bug and add multiple channels endlessly, till you get a very high damage number.

It last about 2-3 sec one channel. If the damage keeps adding more, it’s a bug (it should have reset by then).

Rev has a 0,5 sec precast. He hold his sword in the air preparing to throw it into the mist, as long as that animation is going you can super dps the rev, but once he does the 7 hit animation you are screwed (full evade then).

Evade/chill work great on the rev. cause if he cant get within 500 range of enemy the skill is useless. Or daze him during the load up time ( works). Basically elite well of mesmers, take care of rev sword 3 (triple CC within 3 sec).

Engineer can spam the ham 3 at will, even without enemy. It can be used as escape (revs cant).

I admit however in plenty situations the rev skill is stronger.

To be honest I agree with OP. These days people want to be always 200% a super over the top hero. And if it’s even reduced a little bit they flame the source of what they think is the reduction of that (in this case Trahearne). what people fail so see, is that like in Television series, a good character has a personality, and an evolution to it. Also sometimes setting the lead hero back a bit is NECESSARY to prevent plotholes. This was the case in gw2 BECAUSE Trahearne was the only one, able to lead, that was not affiliated with any of the orders. Big deal guys, this is story writing.

The hidden message was ‘anything for THE GREATER GOOD’, that includes stepping down as player hero from the top position, to not imbue the alliance with possible quibbles. That’s why Trahearne does it. Righteousness at it’s best.

Some people may dislike his voice, and without knowing it, hate his story for that. That is just not seeing the whole picture.

Anyway 10000% agree with op. Trahearne was a cheap ‘removal’. They could have made it more story correct by showing the pale tree have tears, by loosing one of her favorite, while recovering from mordremoth. But Anet was to lazy to implement a crucial part of story: Hoelbrak knowing Eir is death, and The Grove remembering Trahearne.

What makes it sad (imo) is that before reaching Trahearne in the jungle, the devs basically completely FIXED, what ppl hated about Trahearne: you, the player not being in lead position. You completely, absolutely, and with voice acting are now. They could have spared Trahearne, and just kept this line of ‘all power + voice acting to player’ going. But nope, they had to add a cheap death on top of it. Glad someone voices his/her concern over this. I’ve been wanting to say i disagree with the cheap (low impactfull even) deaths of Eir/trahearne in the story telling. It felt very cheap.

Caithe’s Story is better imo. You could have litteraly killed her. Or you could write a spin of that she’s killed by her Inner Darkness. They chose the second. More exciting, and more retention, way better storytelling.

I barely look forward to next dragon’s, personal story. The broken destiny’s edge 1 and also the all the time split up destinies’s edge 2, their combination just doesn’t fit. As some people call it ‘they don’t have the Charismatic connection’. That will weight high on the possible impact of the story in a negative way.

@ pope: there’s other ways to write a character off without killing it. Like "for me no more dragon fights, i leave the scepter of leadership to you ‘the player’ ". Or Mordremoth left some of his foul magic inside of Trahearn, not enough to kill him, but Trahearn will need to be taken care of in the grove for the next decades to find himself again, leaving the leadership to you. Or the Pale Tree releases him from his Wyld Hunt cause she feels/believes, that he has gone tru to much pain already. In fact this would have been very nice, cause if you fight next dragon and need info, one of the earliest introduction quest could be ‘visit Trahearn in the Grove, try to speak with him about Dragon X’ to get more info about that dragon. It’s not like he intrudes anymore apon story, he’s just a living dragon wikipedia then.

And if it would have been just Eir or Just Trahearn (and the person would have gotten a tru farewell with people moaning their death), then this issue might not be so big. But now the gap is huge. ‘PAF charachter removed’, PAF another. No closing story moment, sorry, you will never see your favorite char again. Like really? Even the Tybalt farewall (albeit short) was much better done.

Some guy name starting with M (i think it was at thief) said ‘start wars spoilers inc’ (ranked), i tried to disabled map chat fast (my team chat is also there wich is crucial to win pvp imo), but the guy managed to put a name. before i removed map chat. The funny thing is, my brain recorded more then the name, i’m not gonna tell the other thing. But it’s a massive over the top spoiler, so sad. I hope what my brain recorded is not true, so the spammer gets his loss. I reported him for verbal abuse (in some way it is, especially in a pvp match).

Temple Ferocity Buffs?

Most of time, i tell my team to go hard on mid (win the fight, most of time 3vs 3 or 4 vs4), then we split, 2ppl silence, 2 ppl stay mid, 1 of them caps the Ferocities when the enemies are respawning. Then when they come, you regroup to kill them again to take advantage of it (do not split up, cause that can get you killed making the ferocity a mistake).

Queue time 60 min? Dont let laugh, I see 15+ Diamond (rank V) in every HoTM instance, and noone of them are ESL players (who are all by now Rank V). A week ago i might have looked the other way for that excuse, but not the excuse part of it is real.

Play real, play like a real player, challenge yourself honest enough to deserver rank VI, if not, you are cheater, period, ESL player ot not. Annoying pvp or not. Pvp is annoying for both those who cheat and not cheat, the balance is far to seek, toxicity is high, pip system is bad. That still is no reason to cheat (or to use excuses for it). I think if we all set back the ELS players, so that only matches without mmr fixing count, that they be ruby by most, at this time. Only the lucky few with a wining streak (and then a loose streak when it doenst matter (just crossed a league for instance), will be Diamond.

And no i’m not jealous, i’m crazy amazed i even made Sapphire with this bad system xd.

Remember Celestial tempest BARELY has damage pressure. I think even mesmer has more pressure with wells and shatters (wich is an all out bunker build with higher thoughness, vit).

The build atm is mostly very good, cause of the team support it gives. It gives a lot to other players, and if those players give just a bit in return (condi cleanse, a bit healing, damage pressure), the combo’s they can do are great. But ele alone is not that good. They can delay point capture, but not for eternity, especially against 2 damage specs (reapers, DH etc).

Nerfing the healing 50% is a big shift. Do not forget you also sacrafice other stuff (trait) to pick that healing trait.

XP is LOST in WvW!

It same as in pve. If you completed all masteries, you still get green letter exp numbers, but they dont do anything good. Since wvw does not level masteries, it’s same effect as in pve when they are completed.

They should add some wvw masteries soon though imo for not killing wvw player base all that fast.

There’s a bug currently that resets options apon login (a fix is being tested, not out yet as far as i know).

That could further complicate things. Because you need the ‘auto TARGET’, and ‘auto ATTACK’ settings disabled for doing what the op wants (but settings reset bug, activates them again as they are default setting to help new players it seems).

Verdant Brink is...

VB is one of the best maps ever designed for people who love 3D.

Remember a few thing: gliding (especially the one that makes you never loose endurance anymore) makes it waaaay easier.

This map takes practise. Once you know a few ways to get really up high and go from high ‘updraft pillar to another’, you can reach next to all canopies, even without chopper.

The mobs are challenging but there are ways to deal with that.

And the map is a good mix of forest and silverwaiste dessert, and mordrem influenced looks. I like it. If you complain a bout a map to navigate, complain about Tangled Dephts That map is WAAAAAAAAAAAY harder.

If i remember correctly, do not press forward (only a little bit) at first, then correct once you see more. Be carefull of the sides of the pit you can walk on, you have to get past them to secure the fall.

My first time was a fail on this diving goggle. Glad i did it back then (before HoT).

Vale Guardian mechanic question

I wondered this too, and a friendly guild group that I joined (lfg) explained it to me. The boss sector decides where the green circle will spawn (sector is one of the triangles that lit up). Like Lendruil says, this means the tank has to move the boss ahead of time, so that when one Triangle stops, and other appears, the green circle is also there. The tank will take damage during this phase, but it’s better then the mess green circle in sector aoe creates. If the tank is good, and knows the timing, this happens next to zero times.

While they are a bit repetive, I like them cause they make the game feel alive. Without these things, your character would say nothing, except if you use shouts or do personal story, bit boring isn’kitten

I’m often annoyed by sounds (like water drips), but I totally got used to ‘I outrun a centaur’, and ‘May Lyssa confound you’. If i’m busy, my brain ignores them. If i’m just moving around in town, they are a welcome distraction. Perfect balance to me.

I agree an option would be fine, but Anet doenst wanna waste resources in that. They also are nerfing visual effect (hey Fireball!), and not listening to the call from people for an option slider for it.

I also had 26 character, a mix of norn, sylvari, human mostly. These text are a subtle way to keep you aware wich race you are playing. It makes you feel more emerged with world/character.

Then you should have bought captains airship pass, problem fixed. I have both and like both, but airship is better on 3 things for me:

Acitity npc
The port locations are in Cities, but near their exit (super easy to immediately exit city), Royal terrace use center travel points.
Npc’s grouped up better
And perhaps black lion npc (royal doesnt have)

Royal terrace has more flavor though putting you in a city. Especially cause there are often Wintersday and other events there.

I prefer the old Dreamer sound a by a huge margin. The unicorn shout is to high pitched soundwave, to not annoy me after a while. Though honestly I rather have the current one then no tone.

But for me:

Old sound: 10/10
New sound 3/10
No sound -1/10 (You make a legendary for it’s cool effects, kill one and you kill the legendary).

so guys as an ranger main should i go on the bifrost or twighlight i like them both the most alredy got dusk gift of the fourten and mastery but idont know if should i make a bifrsot or twighlight

If you prefer PvP – Twilight.
If you prefer PvE or Condition Builds – Bifrost.
If you have more classes – Twilight.

Not anymore. HoT changed Bifrost to lead amount of profs that can use the legendary.

+ Druid, + Revenant, + Daredvil (and already had 4).

7/9 profs use Bifrost.

5/9 profs use GS

Bifrost is a better choice for multi prof (imo). Before HoT both weapons were available to 4 professions.

I still haven’t made my GS, though it’s one of the legendaries I want. I got Bifrost however absolutely no regrets.

Very personal, But id’s say make Bifrost.

Don’t forget Sword. Before the Bifrost catchup, it was the only weapon usable on 5 professions (now it’s 7). I actually Like Bolt more then either of GS skins. Also sword is almost always the best cleave choice for their respective profession, dps wise, so it sees a lot of play in PVE content.

Raids are Casual Friendly

Atm raids are ‘doable’ due to might stacking, and auto attack modifiers on classes like revenent sword, and Warrior with 100b rotations, and spike condi damage from burning, mostly from engie.

Engie won’t get nerfed cause it doesn’t see (not that build) pvp play. However: Revenant sword is a huge possibility to get a nerf. What then? The meta class just got hammer down. And be sure of one thing: they will never decrease the hp, or timer from the boss. So every auto attack or might stackign nerf, will make raids harder. Mark my words, february balance patch will screw raids up more then ppl think.

Also why is it, that a burn ranger, is not good for a raid? If everyone plays perfect, it might be doable, but because everyone, misses at least one dodge, or green circle, the dps slows down and ‘overcompensating’ is necessary (doing more dps, then the average hp / seconds you can fight him). Imo if builds like condi ranger are already out of the boot, what is not then?

Thief has always been supported to be lead dps on single targets, but due to how specializations fall out is not the case. Nobody wants a thief in VG raid, unless you are a well known guildie.

Mesmer is only good cause his lack of dps (wich is pretty serious, even worse then condi ranger, GS auto just doesnt cut it), is compensated by giving allies alacrity.

Condi necro, tested myself with a normal build only reaches 4-5k bleeds at best. You need vipers to get to 6k, and ascended or perfect food (read 1g 30 min food) to get 7k. 5k is not enough to have a safe margin. 6k is at least. Wich means pay to win (viper recipe alone cost 15g total, and that is not the armor, AND will only be exotic. Ascended armor is probably into the 600g.

Guardian is only accepted as tank mostly.

The general rule is: either be ultra over the top dps (sinister engie, revenant sword), or overcompensate your weakness with giving allies at least a 10% dps boost (alacrity, druid trait, that on heals allies get damage boost buff, phalanx, revenant facet, etc).

This is not leaving a good place for a lot of builds. Wich is sad. I’m not saying that a settlers builded guy should be able to succeed raids, i know that is not possible. But for instance a rabid exotic necro, (standard build, wich is pretty good at what it does), should also be an option, and it isn’t. They shifted it to ‘viper at least’, wich is troublesome imo.

As for op: you are not casual. If you are casual, you are by far the highest level of the casual community. You know all profession, all builds, all armor sets, you think most casuals do this? nope. Reading forums, give you a way higher understanding (wich makes you automaticly better).

Also it seems your guild is not scared to communicate (a requirement to kill VG). Some guilds just have members that rarely/never use voicecom, but are very nice and friendly players. The problem is those players will have a handicap to the team overall most of time. Especially those casuals who don’t perform perfect rotations or dodges. That level of casual is clearly not in your guild. Wich makes the ‘casual tag’ you give yourself questionable. I’m not saying you are hardcore either. But I would give the op an ‘expert or veteran tag’ (hardcore is still above that).

PS i did beat the VG (never expected it). however: It was NOT with my guild (wich I would say is very casual) but with +1’ing another guild with TS, that posted an LFG, that I joined. While definitely neither hardcore, their will to succeed, their voice operations, their awareness of the timers, and when the move was just so much better, then to expect of base level casuals. One time we got him to 0,5% and died all. But the team was very motivated and we kept going. Then we finally got it right once. (but even the failed attempts were better then those of my ‘casual guild’.

Also it fragments the guilds raids. Rising Dusk probably used officers + best players to try the VG boss. Guess what, add 1-3 ‘true casuals’, and it becomes a lot harder. Mix all officers among two teams (5 officer + 5 casuals), and another like it, and you will have a serious challenge. That is my experience. And my guild (leaders), really want to remain kind to all players, so we don’t say ‘player X, please start playing correctly by dodging blue’, we say it to all ‘people remember to dodge blue’, but the message just doesn’t sink in with some (casual) people. And again, nothing against these people, they are my guildies and friends. But it is what it is.

Admittedly, some of these guildies never read VG guides, or seen Youtube vids probably. But can we force them to it? no. They have the right to be casual. And that’s why I think op is not casual at all (probably read guide 5x, and saw plenty youtube vids).

Verdict? HoT any good / worth the money?

Current price of HoT is only worth if you play PvX and multiple professions. If you do one game mode, with one character, the price is way to steep.

Story is good, but not amazing (some huge cliffhanger issue’s, climax not reached when it should have).

HoT maps are amazing, I always loved mountains for their 3D feel, but this is even better. Especially Verdant brink is nice (the others, especially Tangled Dephts can be pretty hard to maneuvre).

Music is amazing, though some filler songs are way to soft. 10/10 score though for the Tarir+Tangled Dephts Meta event songs.

Elite specs 6/10 I think. To many feel incomplete. Others got nerfed so their existance is already flinging (druid).

Pvp: Bad. 2/10. Worst meta ever, Worst balance, League system is rushed, Elite specs kitten strong (perhaps to much). But if they are nerfing them in pvp, it will hurt pve ‘elite spec’ viability wich will be a rollercoaster of bad things to happen to gw2. Seen it before, and if they don’t split skills pvp vs pve, the future for Gw2 isn’t bright.

Mastery system 6,5/10. (If you play super casual, perhaps 5/10). It may feel grindy but it’s account bound, and you never loose what you finished. Aka got gliding? All your chars get it no matter what. Experience is very easy to obtain (I finished Tyria ones in under a month). HoT ones take a bit more time. The biggest prob is silver/gold adventures required for mastery point. Like the one with jumping as a mushroom where the required jump skill is very unresponsive and hard to understand how to use it, I think 90% of the playerbase will never reach even Bronze on that adventure. Bad implementation.

Verdant brink meta event 7/10 (improvement has to be made to make Axemaster (strongest boss) more rewarding so people don’t skip him. A solution must be found for afk ppl at Raid entrance.

Tarir meta event 9,5/10 (Some may score it lower). Personally i love the lore, the looks, the feel of the map, the meta event, the climax, the music etc. The start up (very earliest part of meta event) could be slightly more open i guess to all sort of players I think).

Tangled Dephts 7/10. It’s good, and challenging… Perhaps a little to much? Dunno. I don’t want it nerf per sé, but at same time, i have only tried the map once, and never looked back. Tried some lfg’s, but the very few ones that go for serious attempt always fill up crazy fast. I think this might get abandoned sooner or later completely by player (ghost zone), wich is not good though. Challenge vs accessibility, hard choice here. It doesn’t help the map is a crazy maze. Perhaps the entrances of ‘go above,’ ‘go below’ cave entrances should be better noted on the map?

Dragon stand meta 8/10. Pretty nice, but with the condition casual people really can make the map fail, and create toxicity. This map attracts everyone, the hardcore and the casual. But to combine them, it must have ways to succeed without having people do the wrong thing cause a failure. And for now, if people don’t know what a ‘preserver is’ or why they should ignore a mordrem mob army, it can really cause a big failure on the map while some ppl try crazy hard. For instance if 1 lane hold boss down for over an hour (crazy hard/challenging), but the others lanes just don’t get it done, it’s a huge punishment. Perhaps a consolidation price should be given per lane for keeping a boss down longer the 30 min? Not big ofc, but you know people and loots, they like it, perhaps enough incentive for people to learn. The end battle is epic (I have to say Anet finally got an end battle versus a dragon correctly visioned and implemented, of all things to fail, this was one of the first thing that i though would fail. But it didn’t. Amazing job whoever created this.

Thief elite spec: 4/10
Tempest 5,5/10
Druid 7/10 (was 8/10 first but the nerfs and changes made it worse)
Warrior: 5/10 (mostly cause it’s relative good in pve, bad in pvp)
Dragonhunter (7/10 – would get more if it wasn’t so one sided and boring spam traps)
Revenant 8/10 Would get more if base rev (not herald) was better implemented).
Scrapper: 8/10 While not perfect, Engie needed a melee weapon badly, and all 5 skills are usefull and fun + traits really bring something to the game
Reaper: 9/10 Design + utility + fun are amazing.
Chronomancer: 9/10 This was badly needed for pve mesmers. Might be a tad op in pvp though. (mostly the bunker version).

Wvw 4,5/10: new maps LOOK amazing, but don’t FEEL amazing. And: no incentive. Worst loot ever (no player to kill), etc. Nerfed badges rate in eotm etc. So no incentive is killing this mode (+ the map feels to big for 40 vs 40 fights).

Raids (5/10) are to focussing on the hardcore. The loot is to bad (yes to Bad you heard me, an Ascended piece should be garanteed, not a 1/4 RNG dice roll). Raids should not have been balanced on ascended stats (ascended armor is way more expensive then ever, not good, cause much players will cease their armor+raid attempts). The VG is ok I guess. Though it favors to much certain profs. Like why is an elementalist (squishiest prof in game), not top dps? It probably does half or 1/3 of what best dps specs do (wich are most of time much tankier. This creates a stigma ‘no tempest unless we know them’. ‘Definitely no thief’, etc. Should be fix. What makes it worse, pvp damage nerfs on auto attacks, could make raids harder without the intention of it.

CnD has a crazy short range. I would even dare say much shorter then the claimed standard melee 130 range. If you are right on top of enemy while casting it (even moving) should be ok. If you are behind him within the normal 130 range, it wont work. Just chill, cripple, combat speed (versus other player not having it) can screw up CnD.

Impossible to rank up solo w/o MMR tanking

Emarald Tier 1 seems fine (won 5 times in row there), Amber I won 11 times xd Guess i was behind schedule (thus my skill level better then the people being emerald). I hope this cotinues, but i’m afraid for it.

And getting a pip for winning against DC? plz. I know DC can be abused to counter rewad, but oh well. We were 30 points behind all match, had a crazy intensive mid point battle, where we rallied, revived, hard ressed, downed enemy who got up again, like for 3-5 mins, and then again. After 8 min we finally completely broke tru and won the mid battle. We were 30 points ahead finally. Then our mesmer at close dc’s (he had been fighting also non stop). The revenant fighting the mesmer gets a freecap, we can’t split properly to hold points and tada, other team wins. With mesmer in place, would have never happend. We went from 460-430 (we in advantage), to 472-500 (disavantage), purely because dc.

And enemy gets pips for that? That’s pure cheating imo. It’s to bad it can’t be implemented to stop it (cause everyone would plug internet cable to force enemy without pip).

If this is the reason why Ruby people are Ruby then I gotta question their skill set.

Short answer: Absolutely. While pvp will always have morons, it’s never been this bad. If anet keeps this pace up, they will equal the worst toxicity that some other games have. And that is saying something for a game wich used to have great community, and very low toxicity level.

Now (because leagues) it’s all ego, elitism, favoritism, ‘win or rage’, etc. The worst part is Anet still combines SoloQ and TeamQ when toxicity levels are rising. You think this won’t explode? The TeamQ people will just brag on even more (cause of the extra free wins), not realizing they are free and the soloQ people will feel left in the dark, abandoned by Anet. Long time frustration, that is not fixed, or admitted, is never a good omen for future prevention of Toxicity.

I dunno. Nika doenst die much faster then the standard one (though does less CC?), and seems more offensive. The only time I had Nika against me, i killed her 6 times out of fear she could solo the Lord with that high attack power, though not sure.

I think Anet on purpose kept the stat difference like only 5% even though the ability bar seems to suggest higher difference. For now i’m not paying 15g for it…

Salvage o Matic, Mystic salvage kit, 5 food sorts (3 power, 2x condi), All key sorts, Permanent merchant, permanent black lion merchant, permanent hair style contract (more fun then I expected xd), Permanent back contract, Home portal stone, Royal terrace Or Airship pass (I used both, but only one per character, switch em around sometimes). Mawdrey, princess and the other one.

Took a long while to farm all of this (especially permanent contract) but I have no regrets. Especially bank contract is great for inventory managing.

Divisions Built to Push Solos into Teams

Agree. I’m not against pvp or teamspeak (hell I love to use teamspeak for world event and Raids, or high level fractals). For me pvp has always been ‘later i’ll focus everthing i have on it, so i can do it well and not half kitten d’ (you need to practise pvp to get better, not just play a few games every day). SoloQ used to be good, but that is already death for a year. I’m double minded as a completionist about this. Part of me says ’it’s temporary achievements, you farm them no matter what’ (you know there has been months that I had nothing to do, that farming an achievement would have kept me busy – now I got that chance). But otherwise, this is not how I wanna be pushed into it. ‘No time, no SoloQ, no ’non teamspeak’, you must all follow these rules, otherwise you suck (the people without I-VI mark are probably already looked down apon, like people doing raid withotu ascended gear).

Also, If i really want this as a temporary ultimate goal, this is what I would have to do (and Anet seemingly is ok with):

Leave my guild and best friends (they are good, but to casual for this level of pvp).

Join a good pvp guild. Spam TeamQ non stop (I have the time, so shouldnt be an issue). Win all achievements. Leave pvp guild. (goal is complete after all, and i’m a Pv*X* player wich means i play everything equal). There’s still legendary weapon, armor, backpack to obtain, achievements (HoT) to get, masteries to complete, etc. This means even If i beg, my current guild would be to mad at me to get me in again.

Result? I search for another guild in the hope it works out well there.

Since when is friendship, and guild cohesion, something that could/can/should be sacraficed according to Anet?

My guild (wich is love for it’s people, not truly another reason), doesn’t do serious pvp, and most pvp guilds require full time representing. I still haven’t found pvp guild advertisement that is open to ‘sometimes pvp playing’ people.

So atm soloQ is only option, but hey SoloQ is by far underpowered to TeamQ. Oh wait game over, no ‘next level’ for me.

Also a lot of TeamQ only ppl think they are super good/great/over the top skilled (to exagerrate a bit like them). This is not true. While they may be medium-to good, they are nothing more. Why? Cause half of matches they play against premade and it’s a FREE win. If the win feels deserved, they actually didnt play hard enough for TeamQ versus TeamQ standard (so easy should a SoloQ blowout be). And now all these people come here on forums ‘no no no, get away SoloQ people you suck’. That’s not really honest isn’kitten

Pistol Whip Evasion?

The evasion is very short. Incredible hard to time. They now buffed D/D nr 3, but this one seems to still have the old. I guess you are supposed to also have a short daze duration (affecting target, so they cant have stability), and then dodge. I admit the skill does a lot for being one skill. But for the evade (in current meta) is underpowered by a long shot. Especially with the pvp nerfed 6 initiative (pve is 5).

But no worries. Josh davies & pvp team are disconnected atm from player base. So this won’t get fixed.

GW2 an E-Sport? Yay or Nay?

While gw2 pvp is better then many pvp, an E-sport it will never be. Admitting that is the first step to true succes.

What admitting no E-sport isnt that game over? not by long shot. You can make a fun, and still competitive game without being a true e-sport. Before Celestial meta, gw2 was pretty much that imo, good but not great. now it’s all over the place, and the wate of money (300 000$ on tournement) has never geen bigger. That when the team of pvp devs/designers is almost as new as it could be (most left the company last year). Worst business decision ever.

I hope they stop these bad decisions soon, cause Anet can’t take much more.

PS if these decisions come from Anet leader (Mike) or Ncsoft, you guys should apologies and stop this big mistake (my opinion).

@ Vulcan Iagree Marketing 90% of time sucks. I’m always weary if i see marketing driven stuff. “What do they have to hide now again?” is always my first though. Truly good brands don’t have to proof themself with marketing, the good name will make the promotion around. Without cohesion, and a product to proof how good you are, marketing is bad. Especially not very clever organized marketing money.

Patience seems aso not a strong suit of the marketing team (doing the correct advertisment at right time, is like lesson 1 i think in marketing, and they failed it so many times).

And meanwhile Steve Fowler is throwing 300k$ (a wild math on the total cost of tournement) per tournement, while they could use that money to hire new (GOOD and non leaving!!!!) people to improve the state of the game, and cohesion.

But nope, lets waste money on e-sports when the gam has been in it’s worst e-sport state ever. If you waste so much on E-sport tournement Steve Fowler you do it at least after a balance patch, and when the new people, devs of the team are confortable in their new position. This is absolutely not the case right now. Epic fail (my opinion).

Confirm this also.

First of all game should not crash (you should do a hotfix to disable it rather then have everyone loose 1-2 min cause of a bug). Then you should work on bug anet.

But just interacting POOF game crashed, wow. One of the worst crash bugs i’ve come across in gw2.
