How is warrior burn nerfed? It was first speculated 33% burn duration would be gone but it’s still there. As far as i know, the past secondary effect of king of fire was pretty weak also. So imo, burnzerkers will still be meta (sadly).

Been making an ascended viper necro now, and Imo while a bit weaker dps as engie, it’s much more reliable (especially on vg). There’s also slightly more room for mistakes. And with possibilities like epidemic, and transfusion, the class isn’t even all that bad. Sure it isn’t straight party support, but it adds up imo.

Now to just find raids allowing viper necro.

80% of patches happens between 18:00-21:00 CET (6-8 hours ahead of NA time).

An early record has been made at 16:00. A late record I think was 4 AM. These are exceptions however (don’t happen often).

This map is getting huge technical problem atm. Everyone who farms materials is getting dc (repeatable). Getting login after is locked for a while (as though the game is trying to repair something). When you login again all ppl arive at same wp: Broken Arrow waypoint (the wp that is connected to Timberline falls).

Hell even standing afk you get repeatable dc’d. This happend to everyone in the map it seems, the wp often has 30-40 ppl all getting kicked to that spot.

This happened at EU +1 gmt time 22:44 (about 6-8 hours behind in NA time).

Edit: this problem is even weirder! Some people report, being in Fields of ruin, getting dc’d and right after getting all ported to the before mentioned waypoint Maelstrom.

I suspect something is wonky with a megaserver instance creation.

I prefer the old sound Dreamer had. It was less about ponies, and more about glowing magic flying to air. New one is ok, though the pony voice is a bit of a high tune, making it annoying for long while (a bit more adult ‘pony voice’ would fix that).

Captain's Airship / Royal Terrace Passes

They both only appear RANDOM in the shop. That being said, sometimes their is logic to their appearance.

The most logical one is: wintersday each year (this and last one): both offered Royal Terrace cause it interacted with city of Divinity’s Reach. Same for ‘Gold Pavillion event’.

It appeared at other time, but it was very random.

Id’s say the downtime is about 3-6 months depending on Anet’s Schedule.

Even during living story, when litteraly everyone spammed silverwaistes, it could take a day of all time doing same outpost, to even spawn one legendary. Took 7 days for indigo cause people are scared to fight that one, (often it was not killed within timer limit). The trait merge/ and now HoT brought powercreep and people are a bit less scared from it.

Just keep trying (stay on ONE outpost at a time, but ask repeatedly in map chat if there’s legendary).

Also big tip: use lfg with ‘lf legendary indigo (demolisher)’. This helped me quite a bit.

Pip Rewards Should Be Individual

It’s still random.

Very good mmr player and well skilled player X plays DH he can wreck necro’s, Ele, And revs, but he cannot wreck mesmer, druid. (this is not a fact, just an example).

That same players plays well together with Elementalist and druid for their support, but plays like kitten with a necro, cause they don’t offer support, nor use the trap boon support DH gives, and neither good with engineer.

If that player gets teamed (with almost equal mmr) players with following profs: Engineer, necro, thief warrior

Enemy has mesmer druid,, revenant, engineer, elementalist.

The rock paper scissor is NOT in his favor. He has 70-80% likelyness to loose.

Now the match is with same players, but shuffled roster.

He plays with, Revenant, Mesmer, druid, Elemtanlist,

Enemy has Thief, Necromancer, warrior, Engineer, and 2nd Engie.

This time he has 70% likeliness to win.

Anet: ‘but but ladder system is much better then in past’

No it isn’t. With the huge meta swing (like mesmer will probably be DUST and still be played a lot – making all teams having a mesmer suck), it will make the teams with Druid, necro, Thief, Engi and rev the strongest.

Teams with other profs will suffer.

There’s at least 30% of my losses, that are not truly lost because of player skill, or making rotation skills. It’s because the rock paper scissors, eated you.

I would like Anet to post them at least 1 day early, because i’m ready to test the changes on the ‘best looking result by patch’ profession. Still debating between thief and necro atm, and I would hate to have to change gear after the patch went live.

Funny, i’ve just also made a meteorlogicus, (mostly because very good look, and (compared to past), crazy cheap precursor (i payed 305g, used to be 700g). I also have Bifrost. Using it mostly on Ele so far.

My biggest issue is ‘condi versus power rune’. Cause either way unless I keep paying for the different runes, i can’t really use the legendary itself for both, wich is a shame.

I love Bifrost AND WOULD use it on necro, but i have the auto attack scythe animation on it, the white light + dark animation, just doesn’t add up for me sadly.

One thing i keep wondering, about salvaging these precursor experiments: does the rarity of salvage kit matter? I assume not, but i would not wanna use a crude salvage kit then to learn it was much smarter to use rare/black lion salvage kit.

Imo the problem is the gem drop rate. T6 drop rate (old legendaries biggest requirement) is much easier to ‘force your hand in’ (farm champ bags, farm specific mobs, like spiders for venom sacs, etc).

I farmed a lot of ancient wood/orichalcum, and lemme tell you, it’s about 1/30 chance to get ONE orb. And these material source nodes are much rarer then others (thus cannot be truly repeatedly farmed). That means about 33900 nodes you must farm to get the needed orbs.

Once they add more legendaries this way it will get really problematic. This is my opinion.

"Taken" names

Use a second name. (And more unique the better). Use any first name you want, and add the same second name to it, that you like.

Works much better.

I have a lot of simple names, Jane, Anya, Teyla, etc, but they all have a second name. Some names i thought ‘this will be take no matter what, even with second name, but surprised me how well it worked out’.

As for short names, you are not alone in liking short names. And short names are much harder to make unique. This game is 3 years and half old. A lot (and i mean this) of people have tried all kinds of unique names. Like Jenhifer (instead of Jennifer) etc. I’ve seen so much names like that, that Op’s situation doesnt surprise me. It is what it is.

A lot of people have now free accounts, some bought the cheap 10 euro accounts for login reward, some people love making alts and have 68 character slots. And we are with a LOT of players. Add that all up, and the chance for a short name not to be taken is almost non existent.

As Dutch origin, Staves sounds way more boring then Staff/staffs. On top of it, very very few people use ‘staff’ for leadership (the much more used term to my awareness). So for me, nope hasn’t bothered me.

I agree that Steal could use some boosts, and that some stuff should be baseline. Steal should get at least 1 boon steal on default (perhaps even two if bountifull theft is made baseline and removed as trait, except for the sharing part).

Cooldown also should be lower baseline (and seight of hand normalized). It will put less pressure on traitline (still a very powerfull one, with thrill of crime etc traits).

Yeah the fun part is speedclear dps (wich revenant is part of), can kill boss in about 30 sec, and adds in 10 secs. You can champ bag, gems, and the loot bags from the adds (wich can contain rare materials). Not worth skipping imo.

If it gets reduce in quality (66% is no longer the bonus but lower, wich would mean it’s no longer a mirror of Chill!), it will be relative boring, less impact full (and thus strategical), and will make pve even more of a chore in mesmer.

If there is a nerf, do it on durations (perhaps best the ‘when a well ends’ trait, removed). The other alacrity sources seems competent, and skillfull requirement to get best out of it (like shatter, etc).

I just paid the 600G or so and bought the drinks to finish the achievement. The 54+ hours of farming didn’t feel worth it when I could simply make another legendary, in a fraction of the time, to sell and fund buying those drinks.

Farming 20000 t6 mats in ‘a fraction of time’, tell me please how xd. In last months that I played a lot, my empty t6 stacks, only went up by 20. Yes i play silverwaiste, and new maps a lot.

I finished it last week. Though I had a 2k alcohol headstart because a friend who only plays rarely, used up all his gold to help me. (Already payed him back with the overflow I farmed on alcohol. I’m up about 2000 wintersday bags now that will earn me money for legendary too

My sweet tooth is not finished yet, because I always use candy in jumping puzzle to increase karma gain. I will spam the last ones i need before patch tomorrow (got them in inventory ready to use xd).

As for the skin, i really love it, brings something new to your character, and works great with some legendaries. Being one of the most ‘visually’ shoulder skins yet, I honestly don’t think it’s to expensive. Then again, i was really stressed at start of event to make the 10k. 6k would have been more reasonable BUT would have had no nostalgia to gw1 achievement, and would have sounded ‘weird’. I think that’s why Anet did what they did.

League Professional achievment

This achievement is such a massive issue imo. There are alot of players, including me that for the majority of their games soloq’d into a high division (or legendary like me) on 1 single profession.

All of sudden, if you want that shiny pvp backpiece you’re forced to play 2 other classes to finish the achievement. The issue isn’t particularly the learning part of the classes, the issue is that, for me as example, i have to suddenly play 2 new classes that i’ve had limited playtime with or never played at all, at Legendary division. This means i have to play against other legendary players on a profession that I essentially suck at. Which can cost games.

Include the atrocious queue times and i’m probably gonna be spending a week before i have 5 wins on the 2 different professions.

I think this is incredibly bad design and a massive oversight.

And now we know another reasons why people with high division such as legendary queue up with ambers.

or you could play 5-10 rounds on unranked for a night and learn the class so that when you start playing it in ranked its not an instant disaster?

You misunderstood the problem propably,
Its not like its possible to learn a class in 1 day
with high legendary mmr you fight against players that play their classes since years.
Thats why players which can’t multiclassing are screwed.

I yesterday played a profession, that i haven’t played in two months. Result: 7 wins in row. (I admit the team was very good, but it wasn’t a carry, i won many duels and team fights). So it isn’t that hard Then again, i beta tested almost all professions, and have about 6000 hour active time in the game.

Then again, i know many people who only ever play the same class (see this mostly with warrior, ranger and thief imo). It’s their right to love that the most, and don’t wanna invest time into researching another profession they probably won’t like.

On EU took me a while to do it also. I basically kept looking for a VB with lots of commander tags (usually means better organized and more ppl willing to do stuff).

It’s important to tell people where to go (to take chopper up that hell there, with wp below). It’s also important to tell ppl what to do on boss.

But even more so, open lfg. And say ‘Org Axemaster lfg, come fast’. After third attempt, that did a the trick for me. Then I spammed in chat ’boss axemaster 60%, 50% etc. The whole map at some point was there I think (50+ people), and we got him down eventually.

I did the same for the triboss up the canopy. But I admit this was frustrating for me like OP.

I think you stand a better chance AFTER wintersday. People will retain HoT business more then.

The title should unlock once you enter legendary. It’s a bug, and is slated to be fixed in our next release.

Is it only available this season or the whole year?

I am not sure if I will reach legendary this season because the state of pvp makes me furious.

It’s under normal pvp so it’s permanent. The only way to NOT be able to do it later is if arenanet decides to stop the league (pips) system (blocking the permanent achievement) progress.

It was my favorite map. Along with 8 vs 8 removal, pvp toxicity, removing this map, and other stuff, made me play pvp not (or barely) for over a year.

I’m only playing it because i want ascension achievements, nothing else. It’s terribad atm. Hell I’d even take a tournement with raid of capricorn, over the current pvp state in foefire.

While this forum may be buggy, Reddit is way more chaotic and less pleasant to read. Especially when lots of ‘questions, with subanswers’, arrive, it’s a total mess. I like the pure, easy to read, good contrast, lay-out of gw2 more.

Reddit has no subsections, so it’s a message of threads spammed at first page.
Reddit subposts make a hard to look tru mess
While there is a newest first, it’s still looks chaotic when pressed, unlike here.
While i could ‘up the size’ of reddit, the lettertype, and size, is to small, contrast is a bit on the low side.
Downvoting ppl is to easy. Making a trolling mess.
‘Unread’ posts is a mess. Here if you read everythign in a forum (general for instance), it is grey. If any new post is added it becomes normal again. For a topic itself, it even sends you straight to your last read post, and the new ones. This is not so on the messy reddit.
Reddit doesnt work with pages. Even more of a mess. Having an important message on page 3 is easy to remember and navigate. Not so in the crazy long scrollings of reddit.

It may be a popular forum format, but it’s chaotic. And i’m sad that in ‘that chaos’ devs still feel better then here. I think i missed 80% of posts on reddit, cause so chaotic to find dev posts. On this forum i miss maye 20% dev posts, when i’m to lazy to check dev tracker. (I know it’s on reddit too, but it’s manual made, missing alot of important posts, also adding them to late).

So here is my no vote to devs using reddit. Not only because it’s wrong to not use a well set up own forum (you loose a bit of your face, when you do not promote your own product including forum), but also because preferring a chaotic lay-out is not the way to go for important messages.

You can stack Ascension AP’s during single season IF you manage to get the hard achievement ‘cross X league tressholds’ (and all the rest ofc).

After a year (and 4 seasons) the Ascension achievements are locked (no longer able to progress)

Axe needs more direct damage

As a thief main back then afraid for nerfs I kept it secret (you know Anet jumps on a lot of stuff to nerf that shouldnt be nerfed, like shortbow of ranger).

The thing is TRICK shot is waaaaaaaaaaay better then axe auto. It has barely for/aftercast (is like 33% faster almost), and the arrow fly further. And I think the damage modifier is also higher. Pet or no pet, Shortbow thief is just better then axe for ranger (apart from heavy bleed aplication).

But with thief/ranger being on bottom of dps barrel atm (especially thief) for raids, it shouldn’t hurt to much to say this.

Axe AA should be at least as good as trick shot (either faster, or more damage).

Enemy Revenants Through Mesmer Portals?

Unrelenting assault has a precast, when they lift the sword in the air, trying to channel the mist magic, only when the first strike starts, he will follow you.

Basically if you open portal, hit F so fast, that the precast of the revenant never can catch up to you. If he started UA never use portal, bad idea. Use an evade or blur first, then enter it.

There’s plenty counterplay to UA following portals.

1) Mesmer (to much, very strong pvp defensive skills, with to few effort), and alacrity to make it worse (this last thing SHOULD NOT be nerfed, it’s making mesmer fun again and strategical again to play, it should be the things that make mess so strong atm in pvp, like some of the wells perhaps).

2) Revenant. Just to much evade/Blocks for a heavy armor profession. Yes there are counters but to few. Offensive wise, rev is mostly ok (though power rev could use a notch down too). It’s defensive skills that need tweeks, to bring it in line especially with warrior, (and old medi/bunker guad).

3) elementalist. I think it’s quite balanced, but a few things need to be looked at. 1) is the amount of ‘earth aura’s’ they can produce, it’s a little to much, versus say a bow ranger. Diamond skin is not op against every comp, but against those others that cant break it (like druid heals the ele all the time to top off), it’s to strong. The utility should still exist, but in another manner, that requires more skill and has more counter play.

Not of caution: Damage pressure of Cele aura is VERY low, to big nerfs will push it right out of the meta. Mesmer deals already then ele (bunker versus cele), if used correctly, and bunkers better imo with all the tricks, evades, invuls, portals etc. So Anet should carefully handle the proposed nerfs, otherwise a profession that should be in the meta, will not be.

Well since most of my wvw achievements suddenly got nerfed and completley one of my motivations is gone. Secondly, i rushed hard on the eotm objectives capture achievements, and got em just in time for HoT.

Now that HoT is there:

1) it’s superior grindy. Everything in HoT takes more time then Core tyria games. If you want anything done, PVE is gonna eat your time.
2) The new wvw maps give you no urge to fight. They look beautifull however.
3) It’s harder then ever to get gold. You still can get pve gold, but you must play on the high demand train, like now, with wintersday, farm jumping puzzle winter wonderland for 90 silver (aprox) per succesfull completion (if you are good, this is every 90 seconds).
4) Removal of plants, more mobs, most water, Ore, and wood logs in wvw. This ones inside objectives feel rather lame. This was one of the things that kept me going. If you farmed ore/wood along the way in wvw, you sometimes got decent money. not GREAT, but decent. It cured the feeling, rewards suck in wvw mostly. That is completely gone now.
5) another badge earning nerf (apart from player kills). Vets give them less, Eotm give em less. I farmed 30k, spend all on the special traps (supply trap etc), when they were gonna make them cost silver rather then karma. By spamming eotm pre-HoT i got another 26000. Wich i’m proud of! But now, you get almost none of these either! No prestige anymore.
6) No commanders on wvw mostly.
7) Teamspeak needs more procedures then ever, to get access too on my server (hence why since a year i’m not joining that TS anymore, to much bothering for me). This disconnects from wvw community, and gives thus less reason to replay.
8) Wvw daily chests are crap now. Old liquid wvw was better. New one promotes karma train or nothing, feeling.
9) wvw people are used to Anet ignoring them. The late post ‘but we do care and will put out a mega patch later. PS the small iteration update patch is not that big patch’, doens warm our hearths. Jessica Boetinger, and Devon Carver have almost completely dissapeared from twitch/forums. They once had loads of critique, and are not working from like inside a super forum firewalled environment. While I respect their ‘self motivation’-protection, locking yourself in a room, with no outside communication, kills the creative spirit inside you wich is necessary to fix wvw issues. Seeing as in such critical time as now, they (except for Gaile with a repost) still haven’t posted my hope is low.
10) Esport pvp league flop. Exploits galore (even ESL players do it), 200 000$ wasted price money, most boring meta ever. 2 month delayed balance. Forced pvp entry to ‘veteran players, who seek achievements’, broken mmr matchmaking, etc. They clearly like pvp more, and even fail badly there.

Lets hope Anet listens to Ins, Reyana, Fuzzion, etc. They are imo great people in wvw. If you loose them, it’s death for sure, they are the only chance left imo to recover it. And you should hurry anet.

It’s both. If you learn to play, you can survive most HoT encounters.

However there are some situations even the best people will NOT (I repeat NOT) survive, no matter how good they play.

One is: snipers attack you in such a way that dougle dodge is necessary (a line appears, sec later another appears). Then a third sniper come + husk. You cannot dodge yet, and your weapon skills have no evade. With some luck you can cc them, but most of time, missing that third dodge is gonna wipe you hard, especially with husk immobalize.

That last issue (wich happens a lot these days on abandoned fail megaserver maps), is not learn to play. It’s over extending on Anet way to make it challenging.

Second situation is 1 (and especially two) hyleks, that have the ‘evade, crazy damage’ skill. They are evading, so you think, ok, i can burst em when the evade stops. Wrong, the damage of the arrow (wich is ranged) is even stronger then sniper damage!!!!. So you must dodge, no matter what (or blind, but that’s not always easy). This skill has a lot cooldown, and as it isn’t enough these hyleks can cloack, shadow step to you, STUN you, and immediately after the stun, place an almost fully killing burst blow on you. If you survive this (+ the arrow shot before), I think you can call yourself skilled player (or lucky). But they are elite. Thus the hp still is not wiped yet! They will use this skills again, forcing you out of evade cycles. Dying to this mobs is not a learn to play issue, most of time, it’s a lottery issue.

Bunkering shouldn’t be available through invulnerability, that includes evades.

There is no counterplay to invulnerability, especially with such abundant alacrity application.

I guess this makes s/d daredevil even more OP then, since they have even more evade uptime.

The well give you PERMA evasion as long as you stand in it. With perma i mean, no ‘vulnerable windows, while the well is up’.

Every thief evasion skill has a forcast and aftercast. Both of them make you vulnerable.

If a thief uses Vault in the elite well of mesmer (triple CC), he will 80% of times still get hit because of this, even if he keeps spamming it.

Counterplay to mesmer well? Noone. Counterplay to thief? Excellent timing of skills (I admit it’s not always easy). Second counter play: run them out of initiative (no more evade spam usually then).

Ele just need a melee class focussing him a little, then when he’s below tresshold (wich is really easy to reach) you ask on your team ‘condi burst this target plz’. Ele death.

I admit in some team comps with infinite party heals/evades/supports, that Ele can feel to strong. But I think bringing all the bunkers meta’s down a notch alone, would break the feeling Diamond skin is op. No support = Ele can’t keep up diamond = wet noodle against coordinated bursts.

The Well as been NERFED It’s now an INVULNERABILITY which means that any mesmer still using it on an owned point LOSE THE CAP

A bunker mesmer is currently much more in line than a Diamond Skin Ele…

+1000, some people are just clueless and biased towards Mesmer class in general…

I’ve seen at least 80% of the mesmer I phase still spam the evade well. What’s more these mesmers often win team fights, wich completely offsets the loss of capture point contribution. Especially when a point is decapped already (like at start of game in mid, or wich happens often when a player sneaks far/close), the amount of time needed to get a full cap is just crazy. Loosing a few seconds contribution is nothing (if the enemy stands out of circle 1 sec, 1 sec only (lot of big leap skills do that), the whole 3 sec capture progress is nulified versus the well.

Imo the disadvantage you guys give as ‘no c apture point contribution’ is bigger then you make it out to be.

What’s more, the mesmer (with teamspeak) can coordinate one other tanky boy, who is mid, to not enter the well. End result is: One person is enough to contest the point and the mesmer can evade the crap out of the enemies damage, often getting an advantage in the fight.

The downside is there, but it’s not world changing imo.

I’m talking about teamfights. For 1 vs 1 mesmer probably wont use it, but, in 1 vs1 they can ‘not use’ this well, and still do well on the 1 vs 1.

Make sure you get a fast cpu. A core I5 seems like best middle ground (no Hyperthreading – aka virtual extra cores, but Gw2 doesn’t use those well). Gpu is less important, but do not get an onboard chip (to slow most of time). Make sure it has SSD and adequate Ram (8gb+).

PVP esport is their priority. Free to play accounts, and forcing vets to play pvp (vets want ap, so they must play it) are their way to force more ppl in pvp.

Since pvp has always been a bit laggy (and now strangely, much rare is laggy), I suspect, pvp got more servers at the cost of pve, and that the devs are ignoring the megaservers atm, thinking it’s a non issue. Henceforth, this issue will be ignored till we shout loud enough.

If my suspician is true, it really raises a lot of question on the business decisions of Anet. Either way, not acknowledging the issue (and not fixing it yet, as of now it seems), is a big error.

I often see op’s guild pugging fractals (with me via lfg) or standing in la/divinity’s reach.

My condolances for the guild drama. It’s sad it can’t be prevented, cause so much unnecessary drama could be prevented if it didn’t exist.

They just glorified pvp as esports. They removed jumping puzzle servers for that cause, is my best guess (last year was no prob at all in this situation.)

For enrage timer mechanic i think they are a bit op. I mean 40k spike dps with burning/bleeding, jeez. A 3 second cooldown skill that is BETTER then any aoe field the warrior ever had (including the normal bow f1), has more hitboxes then the old one etc. It does even more damage then meteor shower i think (wich is a light armor )class, with longer channel AND longer cd). Also it requires to few effort (imo).

Basically, raids will have to be either ‘to easy’ (atm it sort of is to easy with a warrior, if you can do it in less then half time), or they will have to make them to hard for other professions but ok for warrior. such huge different I would call op (especialy with higher passive armor, and lower skill cap).

Anyhow, even a slight tweak down on the numbers will not make warrior bad, but at least will make the ‘warrior or kick’ thing go away. And it will make balancing future (enraged timed bosses – so probably all of them) easier.
