This forum is much better then new one. New one is insanely hard to read.

In fact, this is one of my favorite forum layouts ever (and i read a lot of them). Forum bug bleh. It’s a small price to pay for nice letter type, good connection between each forum line, good readability, and good colour matching.

New forums is harder to read, impossible to get a ‘one screen to see it all’ option (to see all text of one page , in one monitor view without scrolling).

There way to much empty space on new forum, it’s to flashy white (wich is very bad on high brightness screens).

I didn’t like reddit, but at least reddit, makes it’s chaotic nature full of texts, and buttons, very readable, cause good font, a grey background (not this insane bothering white), and there’s no sudden ‘this is an empty void of no text, feeling ’disconnected’ from the rest of it’s page’. The new forum, between each main topic line, and especially between title lines has way to much empty space.

I have to SEARCH for text, and search again, to see where I was last. In old forum/reddit this is not the case. Even in most forums that I use for first time ever (and have unique layout) this is not the case. This is even worse then 10 year old forums of another mmo i used to play (who still haven’t renewed).

I hate to be negative about it, but I have to. If this continues: new thing: I will never read forums again, always demotivated by the loss of time that my eyes keep wander around until they find text. Now i read forums 30 mins per day usually. I don’t see why forum (especially layout) had to be updated.

‘But it’s you, you are to lazy to adept to new forum’ (un expected thought/response). Well 90% of forums i read are totally not annoying, and one can get ‘totally into’ like when reading a book. 5% are ‘so so’. Another 3% are annoying (mostly the adds). The last 2% wich is almost completely and solely Gw2 has this hidden ‘vibe’ over it, to make you stop reading it cause of multiple small annoyances becoming a big one.

Poor design. 0/10. Sometimes copy pasting is not a crime. In this case a lot should have been copy pasted, and a kittenanged to have a good mix. Apart from colour settings, nothing is kept same now.

If you wanted to make even fewer people read the forums good job anet. (And since forums is full of critisism, and devs post mainly on reddit, that isn’t very unlikely imho). Sad for people like Benjamin Karic wich responses in fractal forums will now be overruled by bad forum layout. He was a great poster, wich will now get unjustice.

Armor repair has no purpose anymore

It’s good as it is imo. Removing it, would make dead feel meaningless, and thus force new ways to make being dead required, (wich could be a whole new discussion and work, to do, with if we dont, would spare all the work).

Getting more punishment for dying, could be good for the elite (say raiding people), but for all the casuals in the game, it would a very annoying, and not the way to go.

So for me what is now, is best compromise. The fact that (after 5 years) this is the first time i see a topic about this in forums (and i check forums often), proves that it’s not really an issue imo, more like some people getting used to challenging content, want the game to be even more challenging. But they live on the backs of casuals. And it’s time raid people understand, that their resources are already well spend, can should not be over-extended.

Icy Runestones cost 250g for other legendaries, and is also ‘something you will never use again’ (purest sink).

Be glad you still got a tag (just in case it’s ever usefull), and not an item that is gone into the legendary.

Warbringer is the easiest legendary i have made so far and i own 9.

Lol I love the mounts and I will be sure to ride them whenever I can. And buy all the skins if there is ever one available. Too bad for people who hate them. It’d be great if they could hide others’ mounts so their immersion wont be ruined.((

The first mount lover on forums, that is reasonable. Anet hire this guy. +1000 000.

I don’t like mounts (just taste, not something you can change). That doens’t mean i don’t wish well for those who like it. I simply want to be heard, (and atm feels it’s deaf man ears form Anet), that mounts can kill the immersion for those that it isn’t to their taste.

I recommend wvw (or pvp) track, heart of maguuma (this track is not unlocked if you havent done, Verdant brink, auric basin, and tangled dephts track). I got loads of skins by doing pve, but a few missing pieces. In the end chest you can just choose bladed armor chest, and then any piece you want.

Thoughtless and selfless potion bother me the most. It was very hard. Almost impossible to get two, so you got only one. Now they just sell on tp. It’s sort of not loyal to old players imo. Sure new players deserve stuff, but then what did we farm our butt for? Can i now demand every time i miss content (souvenirs), that you sell them on trade post arenanet?

Before everybody gets mad at Anet, perhaps they are looking at solutions and just don’t have something ready at this point. Anet will not make any statement unless they have an answer, one way or the other.

Personally, I LOVE the mounts as they are, and I was very against them before the demo. The camera seems to be a large part of the issue—perhaps a toggle to “Use standard camera when mounted” would work.

That’s my problem here, I understand people want this issue resolved, but if they in any way touch the animations, that’d be a reconsider-my-purchase thing for me. Those animations made me pre-order. They’re that slick and detailed.

We (I think most people and me) are not asking for a change in basic animation. Do you think we do not know how enthousiast some people are for mounts and how ‘realistic they’ are. In every post of me you should see the word ‘checkbox’. Also a lot of work went into mounts, (i think) so i don’t see them dumbing down their long line of work. But this IS an Issue and even in minnority, people that get motion sick deserve to keep playing. Anet found a perfect solution for legendary sound effects. Legendary lovers happy (all effects in place), legendary haters too (all effects disabled), or a middle way for people that like that. Mounts should be same. Since it’s main feature of the pack. This checkbox imo, should already come with expansion and not later, since it’s a game changing, feature.

For me the Tail sweeping of the raptor, pulls my eyes always to the bottom 10 pixels of the screen. It just sweeps way to hard. Give me a disable tail sweep mode, and i MIGHt be able to live with mounts (hate em now, maybe it will evolve into accept, it will however never evolve into liking, never).

I know it’s cool for those who like it, but for me, tail sweep of raptor kills it for me, the playability of mounts. A wolf, we just runs forward, or bear i would much better like. But it seems raptor will be meta (most used mount) because it’s the only one who can even go faster then the already 200% speed, with the leap.

I find it inexcusable, that Arenanet chose the biggest cash flow item ever (mounts) from other mmo’s, but did not even think/implement ways for players who dislike them/get motion sick, to make it more bearable for them. The people i talked too from Arenanet, just lifted their shoulders (in a way of speaking), when talking about this issue. Not cool. So my estimate is, at PoF launch, there will be no checkbox to make mounts less motion sick causing.

Winter berries Nerf?

Remember that I included 15 winterberries that you buy from heart vendors for karma. Not sure if that was clear. Average it was about 67-71 (often). I got a rare spike of 85. That was with 4x striking single berry node, few times, 7+ icebound chest all giving 1-2 winterberries. Now i’m stuck at maximum 60, usually 53-57.

I for one believe there there should have been mounts from day one. Yes portals may be faster. But for those that want to explore. Only mounts will do. Portals do not allow for exploration plain and simple.

Walking = exploration.

What is with people, that makes ‘mounting’ more exploration? We run unnatural fast in game (like a sprint speed, but as long for marathon). Be happy you and explore and are as fast as a real life horse. But it’s still not enough. Why do people have to associate horse-riding with exploring in a game. Why is seeing the nicely dye’d armor you made not good enough in a game? I seriously don’t get it. Mounts are mmo-maker indoctrination. Just like smartphone, We think we need/like them, but in reality we don’t.

To everyone claiming that we “Don’t need another movement gimmick which requires grinding masteries”:
Just stay in core tyria and chill around lion’s arch. You won’t have to grind anything.

But don’t try to take away what makes up RPG’s: personal progression.

About the porpuse of mounts:
Yes, the mounts only get their use by designing the maps in a way that requires mounts.
Q: where’s the difference to HoT?

Mounts (for some people like me) cannot and will not ever be progression. They are degradation.

1) I do not have the choice to see the game anymore as it looks now, players wise. I love seeing players, use their mobility skills, their weapons, armor, dye combo’s etc. Mounts will take that away. Mounts will trample the game with massive zoo effect (players will not walk normal anymore.

2) A lot of content REQUIRES mounts in pof, i don’t even have to choice to bypass it with normal walking

3) for min maxing, (wich a veteran always will do), mount is now forced gameplay. First rumors said they are not faster then players, but watching video’s, they seem even a little faster then superspeed…. Copy that speed to swiftness/superspeed now, and I have a choice. Without is, not much choice heh?

4)“Go back to Lion’s ARch, problem solved”. See 1). It’s not solved. It will be a zoo infestation (a degradation, not a progression).

5) Gliding, is much cooler then mounts and does everything, but that insane jump raptors do.

6) Mounts still take time to get someplace. Waypoints barely do. New map by definition will be much more time consuming. I know for certain that after a while, the area’s with only sand, (and no trees, water, or buildings) will be insanely boring, after a while.

A full map run gives me now (with 3 heart quest) 58-67 berries. In past it gave 70-85.

The difference comes PURELY from removing extra strikes that wvw panel gave. It has a huge impact on every kind of material farm, including elder wood log.

Hated the mounts. Very scared for future of Gw2 fashion, and highly trained people (of any race) that run in a smooth and cool way tru maps and towns. I’m afraid it will be removed from the game, by the big raptors.

Hate identifying gear. It double rng, doubles the feeling of gating, and it makes loot, suddenly not feel like loot, but box of pandora, cause it can cost you gold, or cost a precursor (so to speak).

The towns that have Elona style from gw1 are amazing though. So far best feature of expansion for me.

In LA, if you do jumping puzzle (the easiest one), it says ‘no mount area’. Funny thing, rest of la (except other two jumping puzzle) = Not that Icon.

That is why for me, it’s already pre-decided that mounts can be used in towns, to sell the expansion more. But for me no mounts in towns would be godsend. I probably would buy ultimate version if they do that (now it’s certainly basic pof version). Everyone (with mastery, wich you should have – moutns need mastery too, so no excuse) has movement speed mastery in towns. That means mounts ARE absolete in towns, especialy with many wp. But they will also be very annoying when running tru an npc., or stacking in zoo masses on top of each other, taking the fun out of fashion.

Let me make another prediction, and question to think hard about Anet. Mounts come exactly as we think they will come: Big, intrusive (or godsend, depending on person liking or hating), tons of special mount skins (that sell like hotcakes), new mentality (everyone perma use mount out of combat), etc.

How good will skins sell on trade post? Sure they already have a backseat. But they still sell. Outfits gear, even while we don’t admit, while we will only make what we like ourself (visually), we also do to show off. We wouldn’t buy this stuff in single player game. We expect all skins to be available. So, extra mount sales, good. But what about your other things anet? Got any plans for that? Any predictions? Cause i have

OP, there are more waypoints in Orr than there are in most of the new zones, but most of them are contested most of the time. Mounts are never contested.

If you’re going to present an argument, why not present the entire argument.

Mounts are superior to waypoints for one reason. : Everyone has the same waypoints but people can customize mounts. They can choose a favorite mount. A mount can become part of the identity of your character. This and this alone was the reason I wanted mounts. Not because they were faster or could do cool stuff. It’s a matter of personalization, something waypoints don’t do at all.

Therefore mounts are superior to waypoints in every way that matters to me.

That’s just it Vayne, in “every way that matters to you.”

As I said before, I was clearly in the “No Mounts” category. I’ve softened a bit and will give them a try. I still respect, for many reasons, those that still don’t want them in game. Some of the reasons I didn’t want them still exist.

I’m not saying mounts are good or bad at this point, but I understand both sides.

It’s all good, however. I still won’t love the game or the people playing it any less.

You’re not forced to use a mount everywhere in the open world, but there are places it will be useful.

And this really bothers me. Mount people keep saying ‘you are not forced to use mount’.

Yes we are.

1) New maps bigger, and very low amount of waypoints. Unless the claim that mounts are not faster holds true (doubt it, if mounts are slow, Expansion would not sell), We need to use mounts to move at a ‘intended by Arenanet’ speed to do the content of the map. WE HAVE NO CHOICE there is no waypoints.

2) Even if i don’t use mounts, i’m forced into the mount meta. And that is, from natural, high fitness warrior bodies running around in cool gear (yes i like that a lot of gw2, and now that mounts come, I realize even more how great it was). Mounts will make that cool feature (fashion and running) completely annihalated. We all know casuals, and game hoppers love mounts. If not in their basic love instinct, they got indoctrinated by the likes of wow to start liking it. There is no way back once you are ‘used to mounts’. This means that 70-95% of people in gw2 will PERMA use mounts out of combat. PERMANENT. We will not see a single ‘high fitness run in cool fashion’ anymore. It will be utterly removed. The best feature of gw2 completely removed, because of player mentality (to use mounts at all cost).

Do i have a choice to not use them? Nope. Not as long as Anet don’t give more wp’s, make swiftness just as good as a mount (unless it’s as fast/slower as swiftness wich i don’t believe, or their would be complaint threads already), and that they give a option, that if checkboxed, makes your client graphic card, show the person as running, without a mount under their feet, even when they are using it. Only THEN we have a choice. Only then I will stop making complaints, and let the mount people have their victory, cause then it’s sort of a win win. Before that, it’s a win some/loose some situation. And i’m tired that mount people are to entitled to see that.

Man, I’m really gonna need a better graphics card…

At this point in time, Tyria is a fashion game with hero’s that use cool moves to get where they need to go (like sword leaps).

With mounts in tyria, every bit of hero’s purity will be gone, every bit of fashion will be gone. We will officially be in a zoo. gw2 will become a zoo. And i’m sorry but i don’t play pokemon for a reason, and guild wars instead for a reason. There’s tons of games with mounts, why did you have to infest guild wars with it, and not play wow or ‘insert mount game’ instead? I wonder if you even will stay after 100 hours in PoF. For me the game officially got worse. There’s no only one way for Anet to salvage game for me, and it’s a hide mounts option, that will have people move with their respective fashion in the traditional way, even if they are using mounts, when i activate the checkbox option.

Except you can’t use mount in combat, meaning when you do meta events, people won’t be using mount.

Also not every class getting the privilege of using cool weapon/ utility skill as mobile source, and more often it gutted down player’s choice of what they could pick, and always have to stick with some mobility skills which is a huge annoyance.

PS: upset “alot” of people, which is just you, the minority that account for maybe 1% of the player-base. If we only sacrifice 1% of people’s enjoyment and make 99% happy, then it’s a rational tradeoff no matter how you look at it.

There is a thread with 2000 posts (merged a lot of threads) that went on from 2+ years ago, till about 4 months ago. At least half the posts hate mounts, the other wants them. Fun thing, While the mount wanters were very strong, on their hope, a lot admitted, that gw2 is probably not the best game to add, so they would not keep their hope high.

And no i’m not gonna look it up for you, because i just told the truth. ‘Just you’, hahaha. Mount lover certainly feel they are right about everything.

Every class can move fast now, even guard. Swiftness is little tricky but still possible. I agree guard needs 25/33% move speed trait. HOWEVER all other classes have them now. Even mesmer. Even Necro got several tools, etc. Mount is no excuse to move faster.

I wonder how many people that post now, ‘omg i love mounts’ actually played from start till now, gw2 without hopping to other games for more then 3 months. Many even admit ‘they come’ back for it. So basically, those are people that only play games that have mounts. 70%+ of mmo’s has mounts. Why couldnt you be happy with another?

Let’s put it this way: What makes Gw2 so great, other then the just announced mounts for you? You keep telling, mobility isn’t great, fashion isn’t great for poor people. Ok. You dislike that. It will not go away. You still dislike that. Why not play the game where you like Mount + the other things you like? That is a real riddle for me. It seems like many people plan to just run on a mount forever before they will actually do gw2 content, cause mounts is the only thing they like enough about the game to be raving about it now.

Every game has an identity. Gw2 is litteraly, going tru a massive identity crysis atm. And of course you will tell ‘but POF SOLD GREAT’ ofd it will sell great. Everyone who loves mounts will pay 30 euro, and that’s almost every gamer. However what when that is gone? hehehe, the trouble will start in the next expansion. I bet the ‘i come back for mounts people’ will have fled by then already again.

And that is the mistake Anet makes. Thinking short term, not long term.

Anyway you started with entitlement, i will do now too.

All the legendary weapon particle effect HATING people, can now disable the sound completely. There is no reason, not to give ‘mount disliking’ people the same option. Horses for Horses.

Also what does a mount give that gliding doesn’t give, other then a zoo feeling?

Guild wars is NOT a zoo, but mount enthousiast will make it so.

PS tons of people think, you got mounts becaus you screamed for it. Wrong. Anet and shareholders are desperate. Gliders had to have a successor, and they didnt. There was only one thing they know would sell like hotcakes: mounts. So they did anyway, even though they knew it would upset a lot of people. Money money money, it’s so funny but it breaks the best games down in a rich man’s world.

I’ll tell you one thing. The expansion after this, Anet will be in a huge torment. There Cannot, and will never be, something that sells as good as mounts, let alone gliders, unless they are insanely creative, wich I doubt in such short time (2-3 years). Mark my words, that expansion will not sell very well. Especially not it’s gemshop theme. And that once again confirms why mounts are so desperate. It was that, or more time, or much less gem shop money.

Gw2 will now be by definition uglier. All big mounts, (that seem to cause nausia according to forums, cause they are ‘to real’, so they will definitely be shakey), shaking their ass in towns, making the person on it almost in visible. Shoes, leg armor, will be almost invisble. Greatsword warrior using rush? Past sense, all will use mount now. Thief using infiltrators arrow? Nope. charm is gone.

Gw2 now will have a massive zoo with tons of monster clones (the mounts are basically monsters of gw2 bestiarium). And that is… boring. And annoying. And frustrating. Cause we know gw2 can be more beautiful. Mounts fit much better in an ‘old school’ graphic game like wow.

Also the tech in gw2 is very clear. All friendly objects can run true each other (if they are alive). Mounts that run tru everything… Nice really nice… Clipping is one thing, but mount ‘ghosting’, yikes. The game will become an ugly zoo.

I have quite a lot of gemstore upgrades.

Nr 1 would be shared slots (Having convenient item SHARED on all characters is just to valuable. No switching stuff via bank, not having to buy multiple sets.

Nr 2 Copper fed salvage o matic (this wins so much time, and inventory management, also, with shared slot all your chars have this!)

nr 3 A set of 3 gathering tools. At this time, i would only buy unbound magic tools, unless ‘the looks’ of tools matter more to you then the income. These tools all give unbound magic on swings. For plants/wood, there is no other tool that gives extra ‘loot’. For minin there is the watchwork minin pick, that gives sprockets (1-4 silver, depending on the market demand). Unbound magic tools also has a discount (sort of) because it’s 300 less gems, then if you buy other tools seperate.

4) Bag slots for your main character (you start with 5 wich is 100 slots), but with the lots of loot etc, i recommend expanding to 160 (3 extra slots, wich 3 bags of 20 slots).

5 Royal terrace pass or something similar (like mistlock sanctuary). This is a handy all in one spot, that also faster gives you access to a portal to all 6 cities. Allmost all npc’s that you sometimes need to talk to, are in that place (craft stations, black lion npc, mystic forge, repair stations, etc.

6 STuff after this, is less important, not so much ‘must have’ imo. It certainly would add to the game (like skins or even more character slots), but it certainly is not must have.

I strongly disagree with unidentified loot. It adds to the feeling, loot is not rewarding, and loot is more time consuming. Champion containers already have that job: give any tier of weapon randomly. And we don’t need to identify. And it stacks.

No to Identifications. Also i know you need to earn gems Anet, but all this item spam is not good for the game. Unid weapons means, GEmstore tool that EVERYONE will want to get. That means another ‘must have’ item in shared slots, and again another item we have to take out. If you keep going we will need 35 shared slots for same convenience as now, while you still wont have sold more then 18. Be more creative with the current way of loot. That would be much better.

Must say, usually i’m very mad with how anet does things for balance but this time they did it well. Sure it was a mistake, but they corrected it in less then 24 hours, due to heavy feedback, as it SHOULD! This happens to few for other crazy nerfs (and maybe if you think it’s still justified post why then then we could have some understanding). But anyway, for once right thing Anet. I think it’s first time ever you so clean and quickly mostly reverted a 50% nerf.

Vital Persistence nerf

I do not play necromancer much, but this trait, was necessary for necro’s. Removing it, makes them unstable/weak imo, especially in pvp, and wvw. First of all, the other two traits are very bad. Only spectral mastery i use (in wvw), cause i love it’s effects, and it yields perma swiftness (spectral walk + cd reduction + rune of pack). But that fear is purely trash. Not worth it. Now you made spectral trait even less worth it, since base is better. The problem is the two weak other traits, not the vital persistance (wich is one of the only ways for necro to ‘imitate’ invulnerable playability (sort off). Now classes with a true block/invul are stronger by definition. HP or no hp.

Now Anet forced their own hand imo. Their is only one way to make the trait work: make it an aoe support buff that grants 180 vitality to party members.

Especially with the insane amount of changes today (a lot are boosts of traits) this nerf (of a ‘NEEDED TO SURVIVE’ trait) was out of the question imo.

PS i dislike to fight necro’s in pvp. They keep restoring full shroud bars while loosing hp in shroud very slowly. But i know balance. I play all profession in pvp, just atm not necro (1 year ago or so i did). But this trait, nah. It would be saddistic as a non necromancer player atm, to be happy about the nerf. Necro’s didnt deserve it.

Gadgets now viable?

Rocket boots has the most of my attention now. Double leap, might finally make Engineer ‘very’ mobile. Also that quickness is extra sugar on the cake. Means it is now truly a good escape still me think.

I’m a bit sad to loose the second hit (with siege rounds, trait gone), skyhammer activation gone (F5 skill on mortar). It was our only long range non reflectable skill in wvw, good for bombing.

With the explosions trait now being less strong, i think it’s a damage nerf for Engineer? Sure they upped some skills, but definitely not all (lots of them) explosions. So that feels like an unwanted nerf. Just checked and yes it’s a 10% flat nerf. Auto attacks are the main dps asset. And that has been nerfed with 10% with no comeback possible on grenade auto attac, bomb auto attack, and mortar auto attack. The new trait that replaces it, i dunno what it does. Anet made no mention what it does in patch notes unless im missing someone; The only mention is it becomes minor grandmaster (Sharped charge is name?)

Edit maybe we can circomvent the dps loss, but it’s tricky. In past Shaped charge and explosions trait could be combo’d for 20% boost. Now We get shaped charge as auto include trait. We can choose bombs cd reduction, but that would be status que to past (but require vulnerability on target, wich is a slight downgrade). There’s however a trait now that converts power into vitality and ferocity. Lets hope the ferocity part can somehow compensate most of dps loss.

Even with all that amount of dodge power (wich should be insane, other classes have only half, or less amount of dodges), I took 9000 lightning beam damage, cause of the big amount of adds AND enrage that triggers on all of them. I also had lots of interrupts and blinds going. All useless.

If you are getting hit by the lightning beam, it’s because you failed to focus down the large Viirastra clones. The whole point of those is that you aren’t supposed to leave them up, in fact they even have break bars so you can break them and burst them immediately when they spawn. She only spawns one of these every 45 seconds or so if you do the marble right. To me it sounds like your group just isn’t properly executing the mechanics, as in my experience Viirastra is pretty simple when everyone is on point, regardless of comp, especially considering you get a free res every transition.

Then there’s a mystery for me. Cause my observations. They cast smaller versions apon dying. The speed in wich they die, doesn’t remove the clones they summon. I will try this on next attempt. There were times i insantly spiked 15000 condi damage on an elite, and still had 5+ smaller ones get summoned.

But maybe there’s hope. Ty for your response I asked plenty people why the adds summon or how to do visaastra and nobody ever mentioned a prevention tactic of preventing adds. Maybe there’s secret after all to make Arkk doable as nightmare. Thanks for still reading and responding. That’s a very positive thing.

Your metrics have a ton of people doing (no CM) t4 fractal runs every day. What your metrics will see is that a lot of player, STRAIGHT OUT ignore nightmare. I still manage.

It was hard for me to follow some of what you said, but I can tell you that our metrics show that T4 nightmare is run just as much as any other T4 fractal, often more. And on days where it isn’t a daily, thanks to CM it is run much more than any other non daily fractal. In total we get more nightmare instances than other fractals at tier 4. (Obv 40 farm is the most but it is T2).

Lemme fix it then for you. CM that does not require druid and chrono and cps (i straight out ignore those runs, unless i magically know they are not elitist), is very rare. Also, Metrics or no metrics, I force you to watch the daily panel (EU) for 5 hours. You will see on nightmare dailies LOADS of people doing two fractals (the two that are not nightmare). On other days full T4 runs are much more common. Metrics are not this would mean, that almost every raid person, that also rarely fractals, does nightmare CM and Arkk CM when they are bored. So basically cause raids are not quickly enough produced, and you concluded my metrics that raid people love hard fractals, you made some fractals into raid state.

I am of the opinion, fractals should be fractals, and raid raids. If you wanna spoil raid people, make 20 raids a year, but leave fractals alone.

Your suggestion: Don’t d CM Arkk. Don’t make me laugh. Seriously. I avoided it as the pest cause i knew it would be out of my league so l already tried normal. Guess what with 5 people that play well but ABSOLUTELY are not meta (just a correct build that can do any not CM fractal), we couldnt even get past a pre-boss. And after deep analize, ‘are we that bad, is their a secret like in CM we will learn in future to survive better’? Conclusion: 90% certain: No. In Nightmare there is the aoe marker on the second last boss that looks innocent, but summons a very annoying elite add. That’s a secret you learn after 10-20 times. And make suddenly all the way easier. Visaastra is to chaotic for ‘easy’ ‘tactical overcoming’ her power. For instance, all adds case lightning beam. Even as a thief (i tested in on purpose) spamming all dodges of the world (until i was dry out, but party was half dead, so was good moment to test), Even with all that amount of dodge power (wich should be insane, other classes have only half, or less amount of dodges), I took 9000 lightning beam damage, cause of the big amount of adds AND enrage that triggers on all of them. I also had lots of interrupts and blinds going. All useless.

Same for the teleport to ‘Iceball mechanic’ (i have no better word for it), with special action key. It looks ok. Aegis sound insanely save to execute. Wrong. lightning beam spam, and aoe under you, make that one lightning beam coming tru (very easy), make that you 100% certain get an explosion of visaastra on you. If you port to next one and next. You have a high probability that even with a high skill cap you won’t survive the explosions.

So all these people talking it’s easy like hell, i can only conclude they are addicted (rely an insane amount on) Druid and Chrono heal/support spam. That already pre-concludes the new elite specs won’t put a dent in the fractal meta, and will make it even more boring. Groups that use Chrono/druid to succes (non CM version) are in my opinions non ethical enough to be able to call on this forum the opinion ‘this fractal is easy’. Ofc it’s easy. This profession combo, doubles overall your survivability and effectiveness. Other fractals (even nightmare now) do not rely on the druid/chrono meta. I still need to see proof, that Arkk is similar.

Another thing that comes to mind. At start of nightmare, not everyone had fractal potions. Now everyone serious has them. I remember being very mad for the dodge heavy pressure of last boss, when i only had two dodges; I needed to equip vigor to survive. With the potion the fractal got easier. We got powercreep to counter the harder fractal.

This is not the cast for Arkk. There is no powercreep left, and you now sort of require another +1 dodge in Visaastra (and Arkk to from what i’ve seen on youtube). That means 4 dodges on a 10 second interval. Yes you can kill 1 dodge with druid heal spam. Yes classes like warrior that can use GS3 basically also have +1 dodge. But what about revenant? What about necromancer? They fall off?

Also if nightmare is up (or even isnt and ppl want to do it), it’s always same. 3/5 LFG, experienced, unclean, and guess what druid or chrono. Or one of them in a 4/5. So it’s kinda hard to believe your metrics, when for 50 min, no druid can be found for most nightmare CM’s. I should just fraps EU lfg as proof, but since you can do that yourself i’ll give you the honour.

Druid+chrono twists reality. Any good combination of 5 people, no matter the class, and overall build as long as it’s dps focussed (so no soldier gear), can do all fractals t4, except Arkk, and perhaps nightmare. Druid+chrono doesn’t make ‘Arkk easy to do’. It make it easy to do in a boring, repetive, and non fun meta, that require to many people that don’t want/like it, to play those classes.

If you play wvw, you can do the ‘gift of battle’ reward track, wich gives one at 50%. Also the HoT maps, if you do Meta on those maps, you get every day, (1x, not on second attempt on same map) a chest with a choice. The stone is one of those options (best choice).

Another reason this is happening (no offence mean, but it’s a fact – no good or bad). All devs are less nerdy then in the past. Have more children then in past, and work more ‘from a casual player’ perspective. Once the tasks comes to make raids. They simply are not good enough themselfs to be the ‘test people’. So its all external info that comes into the game to verify. Nothing comes from Anet themself. They don’t play enough to draw conclusions. (anymore). Gw1 was much better in this respect. The people who made it adorred it, and played it to hell. And you felt it in the execution, playability/how hard something was, but still possible to learn. I’ll give an example. The skull on Visaastra has no sound, not a clear one at least. For such a ‘multiple party wipe mechanics’ boss, that is so distracting, we need a groundlevel for mechanic memory. Sound is perfect for that. In many fractals, it’s the sound, that after midnight, keeps my half awake state still playing properly, with proper reflex. If you succesfully with a random comp would have killed Arkh and Visaastra. you would know this. Feel obligated to do it. But you don’t. Cause you blindly listen to metrics/feedback. Wich is chaotic, and whathever you conclude to execute, it might not always be the ’what’s best for most players’ thing (wich gw1 did a lot better).

In conclusion: Please stop blindly trusting metrics, and game sales, and hardcore player feedback (or casual feedback for that matter). You should strive for a much better ‘the golden middle’ approach. Fractals is loosing that big time.

And before ‘insert name’ thinks this is a flame, nope. It’s a feedback/wake up call, that something (in my opinion) is going very downhill.

If fractals are fun for you, but one particular fractal, at one particular level, with CM isnt..wouldnt a wiser decision be to play the other fractals or levels, etc?

It would be like me quitting GW2 because I dont care for one particular event in one zone.

I totally understand and you are probobly right. It is just that my left side hurt since I fell on the floor. I have never let a game dmg me IRL before, both mentally and physically. I am very scared what game developers are turning fractals into and I don’t wanna not be able to join daily runs cause one of them happen to be 100 (Yes, I can clear 100, but I HATE it). Maybe it just burned me out.

I understand the frustration you feel. Sometimes it is best to just put it down and take a breather. We don’t build these experiences intending to cause people physical or mental anguish, but we understand that everyone has different opinions and emotions and will react to things differently. And obviously, the bugs are just plain frustrating.

When I find myself failing at a particularly difficult challenge, I’ve learned over the years that the more angry or frustrated I get, the worse I do, and then the more angry I get, and then it is just a self perpetuating cycle that leaves me feeling terrible. These days I have been trying much harder to realize when I’m starting to get frustrated, when my emotions are clouding my judgement and causing my blood to pump too fast. In those times I try to take a deep breath and calm down, and either walk away from the game for a day, or try again with renewed vigor and concentration.

Remember that it isn’t about the rewards, it is about the experience of the journey and the self improvement that always comes with overcoming a difficult challenge, and not every challenge can be completed in a day, or even a week or a month. The hard things in life are what make us stronger people.

Fractals are supposed to be repeatable. Colin Johansson kept using the word ‘metrics, metrics metrics’. Of one thing i’m certain. Your metrics have a ton of people doing (no CM) t4 fractal runs every day. What your metrics will see is that a lot of player, STRAIGHT OUT ignore nightmare. I still manage. What you still notice is that if there no ‘hidden secrets to combo out against the boss’ kind of things, coming soon (wich i doubt), then this boss will be by definition worse then Vale guardian/gorseval for me. And it’s a ‘insert shouting word’ fractal… FRACTAL. If you made a very rare to do ever T5 fractal (no extra loot, apart from title), and normally T4 for eternity to not be harder then 110% as hard as nightmare. I would be happy (and many peopl). The problem is, you are kiling the repeatability. And guess what? In all this toxic, over the top overpowered bosses, mechanics, instant kick cause no experience via lfg kinds of things, I was overwhelmed by how good the instance felt. It’s a true fractal story, myself kitten ed. Totally not expected. Except… you need better then raid composition/skills/execution/lag toleration to do it. Also will you please disconnect CM from normal t4 rewards. Because people can combine them, all the ‘do all raids every week with the same 10 ppl, not allowing anyone to join ever’ teams, that need +1 are filling lfg non stop, with insane requirements, making the ‘non CM’ crowd smaller, and the ‘i quit nightmare and Arkhh forever’ crowd bigger. If they had to repeat in t4 for loot, this would be much better. Cause then those people can do their own instance, but would not steal away from the t4 daily repeat crowd.

Anyway Anet (pretty much) killed dungeons. Fractals is the new dungeon. And now (a feature of dungeons, and supposedly of fractals) is killed: repeatability.

‘but but you can do lvl 25-75’. No. Loot is not worth it. Repeting it, is thus not worth it. Also it’s proven on forums lvl 25, almost acts as lvl 100 cause mechanic spam. So why do almost lootless fractal, while it’s time consuming? There’s a lot of time consuming stuff in gw2 (if you want it). And T4 (master chest) has 95% of the loot chance of something good. Expert level only 5%. So no i will not every play lvl 75 again except for a guildie to teach him, level him up. Repeatability? No. Also Raids are much more acceptable to loose (no victory) then fractals. You even get few magnetite shard for attempt, so it’s clearly made for ‘try hard, and maybe fail’. Fractals does not really have that. It’s win or loose. Worth it or not worth it. Fun or no fun. If worth it, possible to win, and fun to play are there, then it’s by definition repeatable.

Well of Eternity, Well of Gravity, Ride the lightning, Phoenix, Phase smash, Phase retreat, Chaos storm (pre-nerf better – though not as much of a nerf as others listed here), Overload air (pre-nerf), Lunar impact, 100 blades, Mass invisibility, Impact strike, Epidemic (pre-nerf), Life transfer, Gravedigger, Soul spiral, lightninb orb, Water Trident, Feeding Frenzy.

Combination of animation, sounds, impact on combat, and just general feel of these is great. To bad Anet often nerfs stuff.

Gliding and Territories in WvW

Atm if a zerg meets a zerg (especially when fighting over an objective). One of the zerg usually dies, with VERY Few escapers.

If gliding adds more escape ala thief, but also to overpowered zerg professions like guardian, then this is an absolute -1. We need fights! Not runaway possibilities (thief is bad enough as it is already.)

As it’s a test, i will give this a chance. However i hope anet truly considers the possibility to retract it, or nerf it even more (like no use in combat), cause if you are already on the mind to love it, chances are slim you will remove it. Then again you brought Alpine borderland back, so there’s hope.

PS i LOOOOVE gliding in pve. It’s best feature imo ever. So this is not cause i don’t like gliding. It’s cause it might shake up wvw in the wrong way. Wvw biggest fun is zerg vs zerg. Always was, always will be. The alpine borderlands, stonemist hype that kind of playstyle, giving many fight possibilities. It is my current opinion that gliding will cause awkward situations, like ambushes from one high keep to a lower tower, runaways easier, etc.

Also gliding should have only basic speed. En not the ‘use endurance and press forward’ pve speed. That last one is definitely to good of an escape (not even chance to pew pew, if done from right cliff).

Well, yes, there have been mount talks before and I never bothered. Mostly because I couldnt imagine that Anet would give into the mount-crowd. Now everything is different and I just have to add my 2 cents: First, I have nothing against mounts in MMO’s in general. I can see the certain role of mounts in Elona and I understand Anets approach of including mounts into the mastery system. What really annoys me about mounts in GW2 is not the presence of mounts itself, but how people are going to use them. I have watched lots of MMO’s during the past years and in every single MMO with mounts, people are using them constantly, even in the most useless situations. If possible, they would even ride to the loo with them. :-P Mounts cluster all places in these MMO’s and they downgrade the games somehow. Turning them into a silly kindergarten, where there could be graphic beauty and depth.

Couldn’t have worded it better. I’m not against people using mounts (still dislike them), however, people will use them in such unnatural/unethical manner inside buildings, ultra thing pathways (that it would fall off) etc, that it will ‘graphically’ kill the crap out of the immersion of the game.

The immersion that isn’t there because teleporting devices?

Well, Waypoints are actually a canon thing. Had that whole bit during Season 2 about waypoints being attacked by tendrils.

That’s a self-defeating argument. These mounts are going to be explained in-story too, making them just as canon as waypoints according to your logic.

And there you are. I said in my post that i can live with mounts. Especially in Elona. Cause they make sense. They make story there. However, as WoodenPotatoes clearly said in the campaign vid: He likes that tyria and elona have a distinction. Tyria learned to rely on magic (helo there waypoint, helo no loophole). Elona learned to rely on mounts (creatures). End good al good not? But for the love of god they had to trample tyria wich is used to magic, not mounts. That is immersion breaking. Especially in such a fast and brutal pace. But the worst of all: Mounts cannot be explained in town (except maybe FAR away from any npc and building, wich would limit space severely – better just not allow at all). Most book/medieval times sources show that horses are stables OUTSIDE the city. You walk there, then get out again and pick the horse from the stable. Thats story, that’s reality. Mounts zoo spamming la? Nope. That is immersion breaking. Go ahead and mount in Elona. No problem for me. It’s immersive there. In tyria? Up for debate. In town? Definitely leaning heavy toward: Not a good idea. Not for immersion. Not for clutter. Not for Lag. Not for Load times. Not for ethics (in real life, mounts are stabled quickly as well in cities, or they would do the ‘naughty’ thing on the floor all the time).

Now everything is different and I just have to add my 2 cents: First, I have nothing against mounts in MMO’s in general. I can see the certain role of mounts in Elona and I understand Anets approach of including mounts into the mastery system. What really annoys me about mounts in GW2 is not the presence of mounts itself, but how people are going to use them. I have watched lots of MMO’s during the past years and in every single MMO with mounts, people are using them constantly, even in the most useless situations. If possible, they would even ride to the loo with them. :-P Mounts cluster all places in these MMO’s and they downgrade the games somehow. Turning them into a silly kindergarten, where there could be graphic beauty and depth.

Couldn’t have worded it better. I’m not against people using mounts (still dislike them), however, people will use them in such unnatural/unethical manner inside buildings, ultra thin pathways (that it would fall off) etc, that it will ‘graphically’ kill the crap out of the immersion of the game.

What bothers me is the silence of Anet. They know it’s a huge leap of faith (topic was filled with conclusion (and other opionons) that it doens’t fit in gw2. Now they backstabbed all those people with that opinion. Now that stuff happens in Mmo’s. But they are even ignoring them atm, and not even considering to say ‘maybe we will do something for the mount disliking people’. Nope pure silence. When they very well knew it would shoot in some ppl’s back. I’m still debating Ultimate versus normal edition of path of flame. It’s no blackmailing (just a choice of conscience). But if Anet can’t even put the words out ‘we might be able without promising anything, to lessen the pain for people who dislike mounts’, then they truly are ignorant. And nothing is worse then being completely ignored. They listened often in past, especially for easy to implement stuff. MO even say best way for game to get better if by the power of the word (people telling others how good it is). Not best way to get started if all mount disliking people probably will not make good mouth to mouth advertisment.

So raids will be 16% harder… Ty for killing my motivation. Just made 6th viper set, so that when i do raid I would be fully geared nope.

Also with the addition of power precision ferocity AND condi damage gear, ty for combining that with viper. It’s a kill to my gear, as that Grievers gear (of what the name is) is new meta… Ty Anet.

So in conclusion: 100% condi duration (clearly meant to be achieved by lots of classes) is killed… ty so much anet. And you think power has just as good food? Power has some things that are really strong for it (like decreased stun duration) wich is useless for most condi. This change is just a overreaction to the current raid status. (and making raids actually worse).

Raids are balanced around 100% condi duration. Nerfing 16% condi duration (8% damage) means raids will take 8% longer/harder to do. Ty so much… Raid are even more elitist now. And guess what power ele will be risen again. ‘LFG lf 7 ele dps slots’. Bad job anet. Power food generally is better. Condi has only condition damage and condi duration.

Nah? In brisban wildlands, northwest wp, near Rich ore node, with the cliffs, usually you can shadowstep (if in range) from the cliff (bottom) to one of the sides upwards if the stone is ‘flying’ above you (connected to structure obviously still). Almost all of the spots no longer shadowstep. I had similar issue on other maps, wvw, and pvp.

So no it’s not only wood (this is a stone area)

We know Gliders are selling less then expected. We know mounts are huge potential sale (see other games). How do you know for certain the 4 mastery monsters are the only ones, and will get no skin-overs in cash shop?

As for mindless: I know compromise is the most important thing.

Mounts in elona? not my cup of tea, but their jump skills seem fun, i will use them, and it fits the map/lore. They also will not be chaotic because size of map.

Mounts in HoT maps? No good. Immersion breaking (mounts would never succesfull walk over all those small gaps/pathways. I get fro some ppl it would be fun, but that add hide option for other people (not here now, fail from anet).

Mounts in tyra? Mobs density in tyra is generally very low, waypoints very dense, and most mounts would be badly wounded by all the traps in the warzones. And we would have… Raptors and the others where they don’t belong (so big) as mounts. In fact, why even bother with complex jumping puzzle anti mount coding? Just don’t allow in tyria. In fact in chronological part of story, we couldn’t mount then, why do it now? Elona is later, so you later get to use it, not earlier.

Mounts in La? To many fails. If you go in city you stable. If you go in building you stable. But anet will never disable mounts in towns, to please the twitch people that love mounts and show off in towns.

Mounts in mistlock sanctuary? Totally out of whack. No lore can ever explain that. And my guess is Anet will still allow it somehow.

First one: no problem with. Second one would be hard to swallow, but guess what, i can offer living story 3 maps (6), as mounts could fit sort of there. Third + fourth: if mount lovers get this, this is a very one sided (mindless) deal. And let’s face it, they woudln’t miss mounts if you don’t give it to them in la/mistlock sanctuary. So it would be a perfect compromise. Almost everyone happy, nobody super annoyed. So tyria is the big questionmark (in the compromise). If i would ‘offer it on a plate’, that would mean the mount lovers still get the best deal by longshot, by only being disabled in pass area’s/cities. But guess what even this (not so good for Mount chaos disliking people) not so good compromise, was to hard to pull off for Anet, they had to complete corner one group of people in gw2 and say ‘suck it up, ow wait, we might loose expansion money on them’.

But where’s Arenanet in this diplomatic situations? Nowhere. They choose eggs for their money.

Tyria is a place of human(oids), fashion, trade and guilds. The people (villagers and player alike) are close to each other. Mounts (both in real life and in game), create a large distance between people, more ‘to business’ rather then chitchat. ‘I have no time, my mount is almost tired give me those apples’. Someone on food is never gonna act that way.

Also anyone in resting position, would normally sit (or stand). Guess what a lot of mount addicts will do? Sit on their mounts while afk. And afk player on a mount… if that’s not immersion breaking then i don’t know what is.

Mounts are bigger then human’s. They overrule their fasion/looks. It’s cute to look at a ‘pet’ for a while, but after at time, your own character is what matters, and seeing how it compares to other people. With mounts we will rarely see what armor someone else wears. To fast/chaotic movement, or just to big mount to see. Now in LA everyone that uses an outfit, i can say wich one it is. It’s a cool thing to chat about. Armor/fashion/outfits will take a backseat if everyone and their mother spams/keeps sitting on, mounts. And gw2 has always been: about customizeing character. In a real world with lot of horses. The people on it, look alike (boring). In gw2 (in a lesser way) this will also happen.

The sound (wich i love to play with, in gw2 on) will be immersion breaked. Everywhere grawling raptors. Immersion breaking.

Magic. Tyria relies on it. Tyria got used to it. Look at how much golem’s there are, look at waypoints. Gw2 is a very ‘magical’ game (wich i love). Nothing against a map, that’s more rough, and needs mounts. But keep tyria where it is: a magical land, where people rely on magic, over creatures. creatures kill the immersion of magic. They make magic feel pointless, while every battle/story clearly shows, magic is much more important then mounts (see battle against zhaitan, airhsip requirement wich use magic). No mount that carries you to zhaitan. Same for gliding. Seeing everying ‘creatures’ = magic removing aspect of gw2 = immersion killing of the always magical way of life in tyria. Now gw2 will be a zoo. Will be a pokemon stall. That is not what guild wars ever has been about.

I can go on, but wathever. Mount people seem to be one minded ‘mounts is good, and people that don’t like them have no place here or elsewhere’. I guess it’s easy for them to say.

And it’s not so much that I don’t want people to be happy. I know a lot of people like mounts, more then their boy/girlfriend. And I’m glad they will get it. It’s just Anet knew clearly (by forums) that Mounts have a strong opposition. And they took two decisions that make no sense: they are usefull in tyra/towns + Mount dislikers cannot hide them, keep the immersion alive.

For instance a large fire elemental bird, that learned to fly just above ground and carry you. Now that would be tyria ‘non immersion’ breaking imo. As Tyra thrives on magic. A beast is opposite. I don’t get how Mike o’brien and his employee’s could have looked so much past it. But then again, the time employee’s (apart from a few) play the game 20 hours a week seems over, so they lost feeling with game anyway.

/age 14800 hours without mounts, something to muster. Cause soon, i will probably play much less. 20k seemed easy but is now further away then ever. Good thing i Bought the witcher 3, last week at half price.

I can accept Mounts in expansion maps. (I still despise them). But it would give a distinction and not kill old maps.

However tyria and ESPECIALLY TOWNS, Mounts are (for some ppl) massively immersion breaking. Since they didn’t dare to decide to not allow mounts outside of elona, it’s now a task Anet forced up to themself to execute: hide mounts for player who dislike them (and there’s a topic with 2000+ response, most veterans proven to dislike mounts, most players that want mounts don’t actually play atm). That should be proof enough that this is a priority.

Also Mike O’brien. Do you even play your own game anymore? Seems lately you became more a of a number cruncher then a ‘i love this game and i’ll do everything for it’ kind of man. You made everything since gw1 (sort off). You should realize how immersion breaking mounts are. You didn’t even limit them to Elona… I can only conclude it’s for monetizing (wich is sad, it’s only second expansion yet, and there’s big traces of panic in gw2 for how they move on to attract players.)

What about expansion nr 3? There is no ‘a lot of players want X’ and is easy to code anymore. Basically this should have been the ‘hard to pull off, but we can do it anyway’ expansion (like Eye of the north). It’s now already the ‘easy to code, lot of players like’ it expansion, like the panda expansion for wow. And look how that turned out. I know 4 people who dispiced that expansion. I’m afraid for expansion 3 by just the introduction of mounts. Cause mounts smells like desperation (jump on bandwagon, scared that distinction is not a good thing).

As long as they get disabled in towns around the major NPCs and disabled around vendors of any sort, then I might not take too much issue with them.

The problem I always had with them was players AFKing with mounts right on NPCs and blocking other players from either getting to the NPCs or just bogging down FPS because of all the “busy-ness” caused by the mass amount of mounts in a given location.

For the non mount like people like me (and i know there are a lot cause the topic 2000 responses had tons of ppl dislike them), there are a few priorities.

Absolutely nr 1 priority: Towns have no mount possibilty ever. Even in real life your mount is ‘stabled’ and then you just walk. LA overrun with mounts is the ugliest thing ever. There is no ’let’s chill out in town feeling’ anymore, towns becomes open world cause of the beast feeling. Not only that, in towns immersion is the most strong. That means, if a mount runs inside a building, it (like a pub) it absolutely kills immersion that is has no name. Would totally kill the guild wars 2 feeling.

No speed buff versus superspeed/swiftness. Why? Caus that would force people to use it. The fastest way to walk is the meta to walk, in several PVE area’s (if not most) getting behind is a bad thing. So fastest (new) way to walk = forced meta. But you know, some ppl dislike mounts. Forcing a person who is not liking it, is worst thing you can do.

Severaly limit mounts in their ‘flashyness’. The raptor (i’ll give you that Anet, but only that), was surprisingly… real and normal. Tjhe other mounts are already immersion killing. Any cashhop grab with a superflashy purple, magical aura dinasaur you can walk on for 1000 gems, nope, no way. i’m still clueless how mounts are linked to masteries (and only 4) cause everyone knows you want a new glide skin cash cow successor. I really hope you use your love for the game, rather then ‘mindset for maximum income’.

The option i know 90% chance Anet won’t do (they have shown to be lazy for complex coding projects). But on mah, this option would be the best ever to bridge mount/non mounts crowds. Make an option to hide mounts. The people on it, would walk normal.

Another thing: proof mounts don’t cause lag, cause you know. x2 characters on screen… Just a peace of mind would be good. Now it’s all worrying. We know your game is cpu limited, graphic card cannot take much over. Perhaps now is the time to finally work on DX12? A ryzen would eat gw2 for breakfast… If it was supported correctly.

My biggest gripe is, the silence for mounts. The thread about mounts, mostly concluded that the veterans that play gw2 (most of them) dislike mounts, and ‘game jumpers/wow players) (people that play one or a lot of other mmo’s) want mounts badly. The question is: is this the time to try to pull new players into the game? I think they known gw2 long enough. Also gw2 is now an 5 years + savehaven… for people who didn’tl ike mounts. Just in one day destroying that, might push off more player then it will invite. Just like mount loving people had years of savehaven’s. So why after 5 years of ‘no mount policy’ change it now? If expansion would be big, ok. But so far while the maps are big, the content is small (maps, wich we get by living story too), a bit of story (i suspect very quickly evolving, so not much instances), no raid, no fractal, and elite spec (a basic for any expansion). Is mounts really the thign you wanna make this expansion great with? You gonna be dissapointed you know. People gonna play and leave just like nightfall, and faster then after Hot. There will be 3-8 month hype, then large downfall, except in lion arch.

For the first time in my long guild wars life time. Guild wars 2 is no longer special but generic. Wathever i do to convince myself it’s still special i can’t. The vision of endless of mounts spamming /addicted players, kills the heroic ’i’m responsible for only me and myself’-feeling that guild wars had for so long. Partnerships have been made (like gw1 wurms), but ALWAYS you and you alone were the hero. Now we got a zoo of hero’s, or a heroic zoo… Just doesn’t fit. The people that cried for mounts are now spoiled. But they don’t realize it will fracture the player base further. RAids are elitist, mounts are casual/rpg. Guess what, each of those players will even more do what they already do, and ignore the other part. Guess what: not keeping the player base together, as a whole, instead of fractures, will tear wholes in the player base.

So my only hope is they fix the (hard to implement, but do it anyway) requirements to keep the non Mount lovers in the game. But i’m very sceptical.

So the only big thing i see is mounts (in expansion). And some elona reach (wich i like), but mounts seem over focussed. An expansion cannot be solely an execution of a toy. A feature pack could have brought that too.

Feature packs actually so far… feel better then this expansion. Wvw finally good loot system, a lot of content to do like legendary trinket, armor, weapon, Material storage improvement, etc. Small things, that keeps us happy. And don’t uproar some of us… Like mounts. People keep saying mounts is positive. It’s not, it’s create chaos, screen clutter, a new behavior wich kills old immersion play (people will perma use mounts and never walk normally anymore), it kills the ‘inside the building’ feeling (a mount in a building = immersion breaking), it kills town feeling (big raptors on top of npc’s everywhere), etc. Magical carpets, created by doing a quest in the magical sands would have been more true to guild wars inner self. Woodenpotatoes says ‘i like how elona uses less magic, and more creatures, it gives it a disctinction’. True until i read ‘mounts are usable in Tyria too. Distinction gone! Love gone. A legacy uproared into a new (that i don’t like) dimension.

I don’t understand why so many people are upset over mounts. Fundamentally they are no different from any other mobility mastery we have received so far. They allow you to travel to new places in teh world that are locked behind that mounts’s upgraded ability.

If you don’t like them, then don’t use them. But just because we have mounts doesn’t mean GW2 is a generic MMO

It makes the world uglier. Now we have tons of fashion people running around, with cool magics. Just running on a creature (I know YOU love it), is despising for other people. There is no way to disable this dispising way of walking in tyria (where it’s not necessary for any content).

The compromise was to only use it in Crystal dessert but even that they failed to do.

Another thingy: Anet always said there server cant handle more speed (then swiftness/superspeed). The engine doens’t support it. Jump shot has the fastest possible speed, anything fast simply is not supported (it was a quesiton why jump shot doenst shoot further). Now suddenly we can move faster? I don’t believe it. It’s ‘use Mount, or be nerfed in speed forever’. Choose , be dispising slow, or be dispising ugly (for the ppl that dislike it, which topics here proved are a lot).

I now see only one way (two solutions needed), so implement it. Make a option to hide all mounts and ‘fake’ the other ppl as though they are walking. Make swiftness speed equal to mount speed, or vice versa.

Gw2 one of the most beautifull games ever. Also very pure, is not a mount spam fest. Wich detracts from the graphics, in every location apart from open dessert. My opinion, not yours. But it’s a HUGE step back in ‘liking the game’, especially with no option to disable people stalking you in the map with a mount.

This is in all game mode. I know a lot of pve spots that usually teleport and are blocked now, Same for wvw, same for pvp. It’s gamewide issue since patch.

Elementalist from what I see. That being said, those fill in fast. CPS is a good and easy spot usually to fill too. Healing they might ask ‘experienced’ (even in practise groups) cause a lot depends on healer, same for tank (chrono).
