There’s at least 11 ships seen on the world map, could be more. The one that’s landed is the largest of those we see though.

I forgot about that. I guess I assumed that they all belonged in the same convoy, but you’re right, that’s not a given.

I’ve read all of your comments guys, I totally appreciate your honesty and I really thank you for that! Now, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do, that’s the very first time I found a “limited edition” item. I’m kind of confused and I really really want to make this deal worthwhile. I’m afraid after one month the prices will not rise as I expect and eventually I will have nothing to do with the item… now, I’ve asked a few people in-game and I told me that there’s a 100% chance that in one month~3 months the prices will rise higher in 300%-400%.
So, what should I do? can I just ask ANet if they might get the dungeon back or release special skins on the gem store?
Thanks again.

So, did you end up holding onto it, or selling it?

The original source has been removed, but we have evidence that neither humans nor charr were originally native to Ascalon, but the grawl. We know the charr empire expanded under the Khan-Ur. The human empire, likewise, expanded under Doric and his predecessors (the motivation for attacking the charr specifically may have been different, but we know from the Orrian scrolls that they were told to go forth and conquer by Balthazar, over the objections of Melandru and Dwayna, who seemed more inclined to convert the other races). Neither side is really the victim here, and besides, none of this happened in living memory.

There’s a peace now, and we’re all hoping it’ll hold, so it doesn’t really matter now, right? Right? (If I was speaking in character – probably my norn – she’d be glaring at you all and resting her hand on her axe meaningfully here)

More importantly, it doesn’t really matter. There’s nothing about Kiel’s background or character that we know of where it’s actually important that she’s human. She could have been any of the other playable races and still behaved much the same – she’s not part of the human meta-story or otherwise represent humans the way, say, Marjory or Kasmeer do, it’s just that she had to be some race and human is what ArenaNet happened to pick. Similarly for Evon – a merchant baron is a position that could be filled by any race.

This isn’t, or at least shouldn’t be, an election about race. It’s an election between two individuals.

This message is acceptable to me.

Politics? sooooo exciting.

Just chipping in.

ANet are now trying out what happens if the players get more actively involved in “what happens next”. If all goes well, we might see more of such content, where the players determine (by majority vote) where it goes. If the whole thing fails for whatever reason, we’re back at one-way storytelling.

Arguably, the easiest way to test this approach IS a public election.
If ANet decide to continue down this path, I’m sure the writers will come up with other, possibly more exciting ways to “vote” that aren’t elections.
For example, the players collect some sort of material, and then everybody can decide whether to take theirs to the person who builds the airship or to the contstruction site where they build the temple. Or whatever.

We already made choices in the personal story, but we were ONE character (“What do you think, Commander? Should we do A or B? Okay, we will do that then.”). In the living world content, we’re many. And what is it called when many people have to make a decision? Vote.

So, yeah. Let’s all wait and see how this one goes, and what the future brings.

I don’t mind a bit of political intrigue on the side, and I’m not bored with the living story at all, but I also hope that we’ll see something more than that when it comes to “voting” in the future.

Labyrinthine Cliffs: Who ARE these people

Okay, thanks for all the replies.

I wanted to make sure that I hadn’t missed anything.

Looking at the sheer number of houses in the Cliffs and comparing that to the size of the kite ship (is it the only kite ship?? Or just one of many Zephyrite ships?), I find it unlikely that the Zephyrites would just build that willy-nilly because they feel like having a bazaar.

I noticed the absence of NPCs that were visibly labelled as locals, although some of the traders could be living there.

But anyway, all this is speculation, and sadly I don’t think ANet will fully clear it up for us. I amnow convinced that the whole area is designed to be taken off the mal after this chapter, which is a shame.

But I created this thread because I wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed any important information, and now I know.

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Guys, I think I’m missing something here. Maybe you can help me fill in the blanks.

The Zephyrites docked in the Labyrinthine Cliffs, and then a market thing happened. Or the market there is a seasonal thing and the Zephyrites just decided to show up there this time.

I am guessing that the merchants that we see in the Labyrinthine Cliffs come from all over. But who lives in the houses?

  • Is this a colony of Canthan origin? (architecture seems to indicate a connection.)
  • Is the housing in Labyrinthine Cliffs temporary, and just used when the market takes place?
  • Did the Zephyrites spontaneously build housing there? (I didn’t think Zephyrites had any connection to Canthan architecture. Also, … nothing they say indicates that the Zephyrites are the locals here.)

I guess my actual question is: how the hell do the Labyrinthine Cliffs locals get from A to B when the Zephyrites and their wind/sun/lightning aspect masters aren’t standing around with their crystals, which should be for most of the year?

Or if the crystals are a natural phenomenon in this particular area (you can “harvest” them endlessly after all), then what’s the connection between this place and the Zephyrite aspect masters?

Who lives in the Labyrinthine Cliffs (ex-Zephyrites?) and why do they build crazy architecture like really high up housing?

I’m not a big jumper myself but I got 5 out of 7. I gave up on Spekk’s Lab and I’m not going to do fractals.

And even your post can be spun more positive.
Spekks’ Lab is very easy once you realize they’re timed jumps, with plenty of time. Only at one point do you have to think.

Spekk’s lab is one of the more forgiving puzzles as it has the little golem downstairs that ports you up to the last station, so when you fall, you don’t have to start over .

But there is something else: it becomes even easier if you bring a friend.

There are two longer stretches of jumps in the puzzle that have a ledge in the middle. You can do either one of these stretches in one go, but you can also just take your time and jump to the ledge. Then have your friend activate the last station again, so you have a lot of time to complete the second part, after the ledge.

All classes all weapons, or more weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’d prefer new weapons.

Right now, weapon mastery means that you have to play more than one character, and that’s good, in my opinion.

And some weapon/class combinations make little sense story-wise. I can live with the limitations for my own characters – it gives me a sense of “identity” on my engineer, for example, that I can only select weapons efficiently.

One thing about this: Please don’t make both possibilities (gaining whatever achievement for supporting Evon and supporting Kiel) available at the same time (either one cancels the other, or there is a “voter” achievement).

I don’t want to vote for Kiel but the completionist on me and many others will be torn if there are achievements to complete for both sides!

I disagree. I’m a completionist, so I want to be able to do the achievements for both candidates. Any extra tokens or whatever you get can go to the candidate you want to win.

Same here. I’ll do what I must to get the achievements, and afterwards grind the hell out of the activities for tokens to go into the winning funds… probably. Depending on how the whole thing works, of course.

As for the OP’s issue:

Yes, I would like to sport

  • a temporary propaganda poster back item
And I would probably even buy supporting gem store items (such as a badge, I don’t know) if they were really cheap.

I think the content would be more enjoyable and “last” longer if given a deadline.

For instance – people rushing to get everything in the first three days – they just burn through the content. If they know they have until August 5th, they can spread it out and not worry about burning out and keep trying on some things they find more difficult without having to do it for hours at a time.

That is defenitely what’s happening to me. I just won’t take any chances with the achievements anymore.

But I would much prefer if I was able to spread the stuff out and keep GW continual and consistent fun, which is, I think, what Living Story is all about.

Achievements & UI suggestions

in Suggestions

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

  1. I like how the achievements can be organised in order of completion & alphabetical, however we the order can’t be reversed (Z -> A instead of A -> Z). This would allow people to see which achievements they are furthest away from, which I personally want to help keep track of the “Weapon Master” and “Slayer” achievements.
  2. An alternative (though not necessarily a mutually exclusive idea) could be to give a check box option to hide completed achievements. This way we don’t need to scroll to where ever the first incomplete achievement is, or can have an alphabetical list of just incomplete achievements.
  3. My personal pet peeve: Whenever the dailies reset I generally have to kill my watch list in order to have my dailies show up. If something’s on my watch list it will probably have completion, whereas the new dailies will not. With a similar style to the last point, there could be a check box to hide/show the watch list. This would also allow users to hide a PvE watch list whilst fighting in WvW.

I’ve written similar suggestions before (here and here.)

I also find it especially annoying that I still have to decide whether to have the dailies/montlies functionality OR the watchlist.

Bad: You can use either the watchlist or the dailies/monthlies display, not both. That means I can either deselect and reselect everything on my watchlist before/after doing dailies, or deselecting and reselecting all daily/monthly tasks for the watchlist (and they won’t even show up on top of the list in the game UI that still only displays 5). Clicking the “more” option in the game UI element in the top right corner does not take you to the watchlist, just the achievements panel itself.

Change it so you can use your watchlist AND automatic daily achievements at the same time.

Add one “eye” symbol that is valid for all dailies and monthlies.
1. If checked, the dailies should be displayed at the top of the list, regardless of the completion level of my other watched achievements, until they’re “out of the way”.
2. Upon completion of one daily achievement, it should remove itself from the list.
3. Upon completion of 5 daily achievements, all remaining daily achievements should remove themselves from the list.
Now, the monthlies should be displayed at the top of the list, then the rest of the watchlist.
4. Upon completion of enough monthlies, the remaining monthlies should remove themselves from the list.

I have both a set of Carrion (maybe to be replaced by Rabid in the future) and Soldiers’ (maybe one day Sentinel’s) for my condineer. I don’t think I need a Celestial set, on its own.

You may as well make your Celestial armor anyway, the quartz isn’t worth much so make it and enjoy the MF while you can, the MF changes could arrive in December for all we know.

Sounds reasonable, and it gives me something to do. Can always salvage it later to retrieve some of the ectos and runes…

If you want to craft Celestial Ascended armor, you need Celestial inscriptions.

So don’t craft celestial armor right now. Just make the inscriptions.

If so, I hope that it is limited to a certain number of salvages per account, or else old MF gear will be bought up by the rich who will give themselves a nice big MF boost to become richer

Dungeon Complete Bonus Rewards
In order to make playing all of our unique dungeons more rewarding, we’ll give you a bonus gold reward for each dungeon path you complete each day. Coins will be removed from the current bosses (replaced by the champion reward box listed above) to coincide with this bonus payout for completing each path. Completion rewards will be guaranteed, and we’ll vary the amount of gold earned based on difficulty and length of each dungeon path.
To encourage players to participate in a wider array of dungeon content, we’ve designed the system so if you complete the same dungeon path twice in one day, you’ll receive the normal reward for completion, but won’t receive the bonus gold reward again during that day.

The issue I see is that different classes use weapons in different ways. Weapon mastery is tracked account-wide. The way a mesmer wields a greatsword is very different from the way a warrior wields a greatsword. How would you account for that in the utility?

Then create an alt, and use the “good money” to craft them to level 80. What’s the difference? Is it really just that you’re too lazy to put in a even a couple of hours of game time?

AND this way you get to keep both characters, in case you change your mind. Or use the other one as a banker or whatever.

I would say it is more: “Don’t vote for the filthy Charr” than “Vote Kiel”.

While neither is something I would ever say personally (being sensitive to specieism issues), I think there’s a difference between saying “I vote for/against this Charr person” and “I vote for/against this person because he is a Charr”.

“Don’t vote for the filthy Charr” can be seen as descriptive, and whether or not the sentence implies that he is filthy and a Charr or that he is filthy because he is a Charr is debatable.

As I said, I see the “because Charr” coming mainly from his supporters – not their opponents. And I haven’t seen any “because human” on either side.

Living Story Lore in-game, not on website

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I’m not saying that we can’t make improvements to the living world story telling. I’m saying that we should get as much storytelling into the game as possible, but I see no need to dismiss the lore blog posts just because they’re not in the game.

I love that the short stories and other snippets are released on the website. This gives me something to do while I’m at work or on the train or whatever.

However, I do think that many players miss out on the content simply because visiting the official website is not part of their gaming routine. (I am like that with most games I play!)

What I found find ideal would be a representation of the additional content both on the website and in game. This thread has a rather nice mock-up that shows how to integrate website content into the hero panel. It would be possible to implement it in a generic way that even pulls the info from your web server automatically.

I, however, have found nothing exciting about end-game Charr armor an aesthetics. When I put him in exotics, he just looks weird to me.

You do realise that the rarity (exotic) has nothing to do with the armour look? Just pick the parts you like the look of and transmute the desired stats on them.

I can’t think of one reason why ANet would allow someone to completely remake their character’s look, body build, and even sex but not make some attempt at allowing a race change. It’s more revenue for them and happier times for us. Race changes hurt no one and only offer more options for players. I don’t see any downside.

But it is less revenue.

If I don’t want to play my main anymore, I level an alt – but if I want the same equipment, I have to buy all the soulbound items anew, including unlimited mining tools, transmutation crystals for my preferred armour, etc. Why would ANet give people a tool to bypass the soulbound state of items, especially gem store items?

They don’t learn anything from a fight they barely get to participate in because it’s all about using your 4 second window to “tag” the enemy (this is as bad for the pre-events as it is for the bosses themselves).
