Regardless of how the GS hits, I haven’t ever had this much fun playing on a Necromancer before.

Fun is nice but long term effectiveness is infinitely more better. Since the fun becomes less important than the effectiveness.

I think keeping the entire event solo queue would just be easier and would maintain prompt queue times for all; we already get a minute to counter-comp anyway. Maybe just extend that to two minutes to compensate.

I initially thought league would be solo then guild teams would be group based. Since guild teams will be the ones for ESL and WTS.

This OP’s statement is sad, wanting people to hate each other over a game, what, do you want gw2 to become like WWE? If this would happen; it would make the PvP community toxic like LoL’s. +1 I really hope this wont turn into a farmboard 2.0. People should be punished for losing games and even should go down devisions, so that they wont play their best when they for example enter the legendary devision just because they cant go down devisions.

@Flo I hope its true how you understood the blog post, so that players will get matched with players in their devision. This would prevent people from just spaming games and get into legendary league, where only the best players should be.

You will have to play a lot of matches to move up, so yes you will be farm board. I just don’t think there will be leaderboards or I think leaderboards will only apply for Guild teams. So you want teams to be ranked not individuals, which is why only guild teams will be considered for future tournament.

Another solution I’m really mad at is the carebear approach of “If you reach x score you don’t lose pips” – no. This is bad. Unless that score is ~490, this is a really horrible, non-competitive solution.

Actually, it seems to me this exist to prevent players from giving up when things snowball or when solo players are grouped against premade teams (assuming solo and premades are not separate).

The simple fact that they are PvPing automatically means they are not by definition carebears by any logical and sane definition of the word.

GS is abit on the slow-side and we all feel that. But a big part of the GS trash I can clearly say is a l2p issue, some ppl here on Forums expect to master the GS instantly and that aint happening. Still after 5000+hours I think Focus is hard to land and Axe is un-useble so…

GS has dmg, cleave,defence(Nightfall) and CC imho it just needs higher LF-Gen and maybe abit shorter Cast time on Gravedigger and its fine. AND PRACTICE

It doesn’t take a lot of skill for players with a brain to simply walk away while your slow terrible skills barely hit.

Thats why u have range option, either in Utlity Skill or other Weapon Set, no skill in the world can avoid getting hit forever…. and a SKILLED Necro will hit with GS

Congratulations on being so “skilled” but I have come to realize on this forums that there is always someone who believes they are more exceptional than everyone else.

Why is the majority of opinions about the GS negative but somehow yours either ignore those points and start making excuse. You should not need more a second weapon to make another weapon effective.

Big hits don’t make up for the horrid DPS though. Big hits big tells long cast times, the advantage is if you land one it’s “devastating” but honestly it’s not high enough damage to be that, yet it has all the negatives of being unlikely to even land a hit.

well when you realize it’s not a dps weapon, but a dpH(it) weapon you get a little less angry about it.

If it isn’t what is it trying to accomplish,? I mean if you cant hit anything with a brain then what is it? We have a great utility weapon already, so what is the gs trying to accomplish?

double or tripple the health, and make the npcs usefull…. the lord dies in 10 seconds if the enemy has at least 2 dps which is very common…

I think they are trying to improve necro by changing pve. More toughness in fractals means your epidemic is worth more. More precision, your weakness is worth more.

I agree we could use buffs but if they make our niche more effective isn’t that an indirect buff ?

Epidemic sucks. Which fractal is it good in? The only things challenging in fractals are the bosses, and bosses don’t have adds for the most part.

Jury’s still out on weakness, especially if the bosses get the new break bars.

You might want to actually read what he said before responding.

He did not say it was good now, he said that they are changing fractals AND that back in the days of level 80 fractals groups took necromancers.

Recently Arena net announced changes to fractals and it supports his claim that they are trying to change fractals to take advantage of more than simply zerker. Go read or reread the blogpost from last week.

I wouldn’t be so sure, Colin has talked about wanting PvE encounters to change, and we’ve got other things to build on that like difficult PvE content, AI reworking, etc.

There is just one problem : They won’t change encounters in the old content ‘cause they are lazy, and if HoT’s always thrown around “challenging groupcontent” is not the same as “new dungeons”,“raids” or other types of “instanced group content” but simply open world BS, it won’t matter anyways. Well although then the elitists at least couldn’t exclude Necros from the content.

You can’t assume that yet. Considering the ease of changing the AI and fractals getting changed let’s play the wait and see for content first.

And my “source” says that Anet financials are predicting a huge increase in 3rd quarter, which has been floated around by a ton of people. At least I have something to base my claim on.

1. Except Anet doesn’t have financials, they are all part of Ncsoft’s.
2. Ncsoft financials doesn’t reveal any information about the expected sales increase. You can download that information from their site.
3. The only thing they said is they hope to release guild wars 2 HOT in the second half of the year, not that it will be released in the year. but I will give you that.

People should consider suggesting builds to be tested.

I am seriously considering getting into the beta.

We won’t know which builds to use until we see what has been revised in the past few months on Reaper. I adore the standard signet build but I’m not sure how it will be without curses or soul reaping, the build is just too rigid for much change, but I think I’ll be trying Spite Curse Reaper and Spite Sr Reaper. If neither of those work I might forgo signets and try out curses sr reaper celestial, but I’m not sure what utilities I’d use :/

The new celestial signet build reignited my love for Necro so I’m more concerned with base DS changes now, honestly… (I don’t feel comfortable calling it “Nos’s” build btw, it’s sort of a no brainer build, it’s makes a lot of sense. He just happened to get to test it first with early access weekend he had.)

I digress, I do think if Reaper is REALLY good, I could see Spite Sr Reaper signers working, but it unfortunately loses a significant amount of boon ripping, which is my biggest concern, and the weakness of course… Only time will tell.

Final words: Please Blighter’s boon be there….

You are thinking about it too much. Just suggest a build and if it changes it changes, I don’t see arena net making major changes YET. OR to be more precise they will probably hold changes until player complain about it during beta then Arena net gets the benefit of “listening” to player feedback.

HAHAH man, why don’t they fix uw combat already? They’re going to add a plethora of band-aid not to wipe it from the game. Tsc tsc… stay classy, ArenaNet.

No other class’s underwater weapons have been revealed, that is because UW isn’t something to be excited about.

Or to be more precise few people are going to be happy about it. THey will probably just reveal them after all the other classes are done or they might not even include them. It doesn’t really matter since they wont be adding new weapons to them, for now.

On a more serious note, it would be nice to see someone who actually understands the class to show off the elite specs. Watching Grouch demolish Chieftain with ease was more impressive than the showing of anything else. Watching Karl get interrupted while overloading twice and nearly dying (500hp) was more embarrassing than anything else. That and Rubi’s comments of “That’s so devastating” and watching 4 hits of 400 per target was nothing more than a /facepalm moment.

This goes for the other stuff to, most of the devs who tried to show killing Svanir/Chieftain almost died themselves (they even joke about it on stream) and I think it would be better to show something like Grouch demolishing rather than Karl nearly dying.

karl getting interrupted by the boss was actually the best thing that could have happened. It showed the whole freaking world that maybe the overload mechanic is terrible. If he was actually successful most of the people impressed by cool animation and numbers that are not put into prospective would be telling us how cool the tempest is.

Instead we all saw it and it is online forever. The people in favor of this horrible elite specialization cannot hide and are not having to resort to “wait for the beta”.

The elementalist isn’t that bursty, one of the complaints ele have is that they have to rely on cantrips, water/arcane just to be viable any other build is worthless in PvP. The only burst they have is scepter and scepter is extremely terrible and predictable.

Scepter is their burst weapon. If you find it terrible and predictable, that’s fine. But it doesn’t change the fact that their burst with the weapon is among the highest in the game.

And as another person mentioned, even a Guard does more burst.

I’m not trying to argue that the class isn’t capable of burst. Just trying to keep it in perspective. I’d hardly consider Necro a burst class.

Scepter is not a burst weapon, it has attribute for a burst weapon but it is far from it. The cost of going into burst means a quick and easy death when encountering a competent player. Unlike thief and mesmers where they can disengage and come back two seconds later to whoop dat kitten .

My point really is that you don’t pick the ele if you want a burst class. Just like you would not pick the necro if you wanted a class that is good for something.

The fact of the matter is the tempest sucks and simply trying to avoid it isn’t going to make it less sucky. Especially since I am pretty sure the expansion is going to being introducing a significant power creep.

I, personally, love the overload mechanic. I won’t be using Warhorn much since I’m staff ele for life and I doubt the shouts (or rebound) will grab me but those overloads are dope.

Reading your post, I feel like it is a conspiracy as a Mesmer main to completely undermine the elementalist.

i think we are in a good spot everywhere.
except minions. the looks i can still accept but the AI needs to be the same as ranger pets.

i cant understand why they cant use the ranger pet AI on our necro minions.

I very much enjoy PvE. I like PvP. I couldn’t care less about WvW.

WvW is a brain dead game mode where anyone can run any build and still succeed if they are in a large enough group. It’s a karma train with a readily dying playerbase that offers no foreseeable rewards besides bragging rights on a fictitious ladder.

Now I expect people to disagree with me but it doesn’t mean that necro should do well in 1/3 game modes.

Of course it is subjective, that’s the point about opinions.

And that is a counter argument how? You and Kodiak have been 24/7 complaining non stop and to get honest you have ABSOLUTELY ZERO stats to back up anything you keep complaining about. I will say it will be bad if it procs on stuff like auto attacks and imo should only affect 6-10 skills and not the weapon skills.

Ironic how you link some nonsense argument about “coolness factor” yet most of the complaining about the elite is that it doesn’t feel strong or cool enough. From a purely functional perspective it IS strong but there is room to tweak it. People here are just calling for complete reworks.

I remember people you like saying how the truth will be revealed during the POI and yet, here we are, all it did was confirmed the issues some of us had. The difference between you and I is, I have facts to back up my claims you. You have nothing, simply fancies and dreams.

If the tempest gets better, it would be because of people like us pointing out the obvious flaws, it wont be because of people like you making terrible excuses.

Except it isn’t. This is all crap for PvE. The two main builds: Fire-Air-Water and Fire-Air-Arcane all have plenty of damage modifiers that we lose going into this. Arcane gives more useful support as Auras really aren’t that reliable in PvE for support compared to boons. Focus just kicks the ever-living daylights out of Warhorn and OH Dagger would still be a better choice. AND STAFF would benefit WAY more from Overload and lower attunements than Dagger main hand as Dagger usually stays in Air and only cycles through the others to keep up huge might stacks and permafury. These two are already great in melee…this doesn’t change anything!

I think there’s a disconnect here going on.

See you got a bunch of people who are all like, “Woo Tempest this is so cool, it’s all so cool!” and then you have the more level headed people saying, “None of this stuff is practical.”

Is the Tempest stuff cool? Sure. New stuff. Neat. Any of it particularly useful? Not a bit. PvE players are guessing PvP and PvP is guessing WvW and WvW is guessing PvE cause no one can actually figure out where any of this cool stuff would actually be used over what we already got.

The overload seems underwhelming because it acts like a giant INTERRUPT me.

Like the animations except for overload earth, seems kinda stupid, we need less spell pollution not more.
Auramancer is back.

Warhorn is a kittenty focus.
Ironically, the focus works better with tempest skills than the warhorn.
Overload except earth is a giant stun me you fools sign.

For PvE, it’s pretty much bland, boring, useless, an dmore of the same. If the numbers are better, OH LOOK…more camping attunements! More reliance on Fire Staff and Fresh Air D/F. What about Warhorn? Yeah, it doesn’t have any blast finishers or projectile reflection/destruction…or invulnerability…or anything good really. A big fire field! Yay! It’s not like we can use it with dagger besides one blast finisher.

Oh…and more reliance on hoping bosses can’t move out of AoEs. So yay! It’s like things we’ve been saying and hoping Tempest will improve…it doesn’t! The traits are so boring and useless for PvE! The shouts? Yeah, maybe some use…but we still have to sacrifice a blast finisher and other support! The elite is great, but it’s weighed down by everything else.

I don’t do PvP and I rarely do WvW on my ele. I like to do high level Fractals and dungeons on this character. And really, this has just been a downward spiral. I’m not going to give up forever, but I just want to play the game with something new. So, I’ll look towards Forge or Revenant for now.

Not everything has to be aimed towards PvE, or you know we don’t know yet how useful support will be in HoT maps. This spec can make Cleric Ele a viable frontline support.

It certainly isn’t better for PvP either. Karl did a great job showing the huge flaws in the class mechanic, which begs the question what use does a class mechanic have if you really cannot use it, at all? Given its short range, you can just easily stun the player except when in earth.

I mean I feel slightly better about the class but mostly due to the fancy animation. I do like the fact that auramancers is partially back, but ironically that build will be more effective on /F than the warhorn itself.

Yes you can use tempest with staff but you obvious must have tempest active. In pve it should work extremely well, the problem you might have deciding if giving up damage modifiers is worth it.

Not referring to people here, ingame, friends and other general players. The “you” was a global “you” to all the haters. :P

Of course the happy ones are here to say “I told you so!” It was well earned after that fit session.

Are you sure they are not happy simply due to the animations which are well done? It seems to me that in a game where maximizing damage in PvE is extremely important, I see no reason why tempest will become meta. Staff still does better support with far less risk involved. Tempest seems like a great auramancer build and that’s pretty much it.

In PvP people will most certainly take water, arcane and tempest for the increase duration of protect WHILE still running d/d and only use the air singularity to build vul stacks.

Not seeing replacing focus with this offhand (which btw has 8 exact motion animations, surprise, surprise). It lacks blasts finishers and the fire field is on very long cooldown. Maybe for WvW, who knows.

Off hand focus will go pretty well with this hand. You can become a true auramancer.

There’s lots of ideas how to incorporate the Tempest.

Unfortunately none of them are practical to current game play.

Overcharge or singularity still sucks as Karl did an excellent job at demonstrating, overall the tempest isn’t bad, I do feel bad for necros, their shouts suck.

The skill animation were the real winners here. The warhorn is wasn’t bad, but I would have preferred a new main hand. Oh well.

They didn’t make the game to be Chinese friendly, the Chinese localization includes a lot of changes. Put the tinfoil hat away.

Are you being intentionally stupid? Minions have always looked like the way they do, this goes back to guild wars 1. The reason why minions are not skull and bone is because they are not summoning the dead but creating life from the remains of the fallen.

Except for you inability to spell correctly, your argument fails the moment you realize that guild wars 1 was not officially released in China.

Probably because it’s Donald Trump’s most-known phrase from ‘The Apprentice’ television show. It would be mildly amusing, especially with the number of inevitable jokes with him campaigning for president.

I know it is from donald trump, I am asking its relevance to gw2.
