Now, Colin was a cool guy but as a game director I would disagree that he was good or that the game suffered because he left. I would actually argue that the game improved after he left. Like it or not, Colin was responsible for the mess that was HOT initially. It was after he left that most of the problems with HOT started getting fixed. The big patch in march 2016 was after he had left.
Most of the living story content, as well as the April HoT patch, were well in development by the time he left. Content and fixes don’t just magically happen so you can’t just use the date he left as a cut off and assume that everything that comes after it he had no control over prior to leaving.
His job was to prevent the mess that was HOt in the first place. If I kitten up and then fix my kitten up, I don’t get credit for it. It was his job to make a great game and HoT had a lot of issues.
You are right that the new content started development when he was around. the key being “started.” I doubt he had that much influence on any of the latter content like the newest maps.
Also the new content seems to have been designed to move away from the his mistakes.
ANYWAYS my point is, the game hasn’t suffered from his departure. THe newest map which arguably had the least amount of his influence is also one of the best maps we have had.
EDIT: I mean look at where all those previous Arena net developers ended. They are working on that kittenty Breakaway game.

I would really like it on the GW2 leader boards page.
I also would like the back name and the character name with the most games played in a season and that class.
1- It would help the community see what is the most used classes
2- We could see the Top NA and EU players, which would be nice since we had it before.
I dont understand how we can have competitive seasons when we dont get to see anything.
In WoW, LoL, you can see the top players, what character/class they play and you can see it on there own leader boards.
To be fair LoL is a PvP game, so that is essential. WoW makes billions so they are going to provide as much information as they want since they have billions to blow on UI developers.
Guild wars 2 barely makes a pip. Not saying it is justified not having it, just saying comparing two games that have significantly more resources than guild wars 2 isn’t a good way to make a point.

Your topic ignores the existence of PvE and WvW with respect to skills and traits. Not everything can be optimal, if you want to succeed on PvP you should use skills that are optimal to the game mode. Skills and traits are designed for all three modes and not only PvP.
Also compared to gw1 this game has less filler skills. As in skills that are simply a kittentier version of another skill.
If ANet accepts that teams Vs solo pugs are unfair, then it has to accept that duo Vs solo pug is also unfair. This is logical. You can’t have one foot in and the other foot out. Eventually we will have team and solo only Qs again, because it makes the most sense. The mixing of teams and pugs was solely for the sake of ESports that the majority of players aren’t interested in.

Duos are not on the same level as a team of 5. With that said if arena net wants to include a team ONLY 5v5 they should. It would be nice for players like you to have an equally organized team to fight against so you can’t keep making excuses.

The pro duo argument here is that the 2 duo+1 were palced versus a team with players rated that much higher to offset the factor of having 2 premades on the team.The same can be said of whole teams. It’s entirely feasible to have a team of much stronger players in order to offset the more organized team. I’ve lost games with a premade team on voice coms vs 100% random solos. My team simply had more inexperienced players than the other one (some were doing their first match on one of the last times i remember this happening) and the matchmaking offset the team factor.
The bigger problem with GW2 is that to do so it took like a 10 minute queue. Which isn’t really a good thing. Because GW2 isn’t really great at managing it’s PvP scene, so it’s not that populated.
It happens in most games, but in GW2 if the PvP forum is whiny enough they can turn a TEAM game into a solo game, and remove the most solo-friendly map from the rotation in the same breath.
It isn’t really close to the same thing. A team of 5 players will have a greater amount of synergy than 2 duos and a pug. A 5 man team can playoff their strengths and weaknesses, but more importantly a team of 5 players who know each other will practice together and have great control than randoms.
A team of 5 is more likely to have voice support than randoms who have 2 minutes to get to know each other.
So no. It is not the same.

I didn’t do that a single time. My entire path was done on stream and primarily during primetime. My usual stream schedule is 16-22. This is easily verified by just looking at the dates/times of my past broadcasts.

You are right, guild wars 2 compared to competitive non-MMORPG game doesn’t require a very high skill level. However, this begs the question. If the people who are claiming guild wars 2 has very little skill, why aren’t they the top of the top in this no skill game. It is easy to make a post claiming it is no skill and get a few angry players to agree. It is completely different to actually prove that point by joining and winning at a tournament with other “high” skill players. It is usually easy for people to run their mouths when they have no incentive to prove it.
In any case, within this low skill game, there are still players that are still good.
Also if you have a topic and Apolo.5942 is on your side of the argument, it might be time to reconsider that argument.

I play quite only pvp but i am happy of pve players in pvp . Pvp is dieing . The first Problem of pvp as wvw is to raise up the population. Give to pvers a motivation to try pvp , in my opinion was a great idea. Even if we have bad matches if only a part of pve players fall in love of pvp it is a great thing . And even if they are not that good now, they can become better in feature. Nobody was born pvp champion … let them the time to learn and enjoy the short queue of ranked and the rewards. For now i am stacked in silver … if i will remain there.. ok , it is the place i belong to . Perhaps i will do better next seasons .
People have been saying PvP is dying since the beginning, the point being hyperbole only works when the side you are trying to convince doesn’t have access to data to verify their decisions. Your lie might convince the few salty players but the goal is to convince arena net. Who unfortunately has the data to see whether you are lying or not.
The good news is, your terrible suggestion isn’t going to fly. PvP needs these players more than they need guys like you at the moment.
Second, you give reward for losing in other to have a game. If you take it away and a team is behind, why would they attempt to keep playing? Either way there is no perfect solution, but there is a solution that is beneficial to the game aka majority of players and arena net smartly choose that option.

You make a decent well thought out post and hope for the best. Some devs have said in the past that they do read the comments. In any case, just because they don’t do what you want doesn’t mean they don’t listen. It just means there is a difference of opinion on the direction.

There is something a lot people don’t realize about the official forums. Their intended purpose was to minimize the spread of negativity. They made the forum to contain some of the bad elements instead of having it spread out.

If I were designing new content I would make it available (in terms of access) to players. But, that’s just me.

Just because Dev don’t respond doesn’t mean they don’t care. Players love to complain whenever there is a nerf sometimes extremely valid, most times simply hyperbole. I suspect most developers simply learn to tune out the noise.

The matchmaker got changed. the system uses your last seasons bracket to place you NOT MMR. So 50% win rate is not relevant.
If you are losing that much, why not queue at midnight? It will allow you to win above your skill level.

The Druid is the only Espec whereby the developer(s) has openly admitted that he’s shoe-horned it into the role of a healer. Sure, I won’t be so ignorant to say the Druid line can’t be worked into other builds. But by God as poor as they were the existing Ranger builds function better without the Druid line at all.

Druids are being used in high level sPvP by good teams. They are being used in Unranked pretty often and doing well. In PvE there are tons of people playing zerker druids and doing very well.
Tell me how many Berserker Warriors you have seen? They are the true worst elite spec and its not particularly close.
Also please where is your evidence for “worst spec?” A quick look around tells you that you are incorrect about Druid being worst but thats not as easy as crying on the forums I guess.

In any case if you want your evidence a couple of weeks ago, Arena net removed the minstrel amulet because it made the Druid far too powerful. Also a couple of weeks ago the berserker received A LOT of “buff” I wouldn’t call them meaningful buffs but still buffs. While every other spec has been nerfed for one reason or another.

Axe is quite clearly better. Especially if you take the axe trait. Axe 2 is also a big gain over staff and axe auto’s.

One of the best breakbar is Flesh Golem.
I think SH is more popular than forum warrior think. I have had no problem getting qeues (usually 1 min or less). All of my friends I play with much prefer it to Conquest. Part of this is that you can guarantee that you don’t get the terrible maps (Silent Storm, Kylo).
For many, Conquest is just a poor copy of other games’ pvp maps (i.e. WoW, Rift, etc.).
SH is far from perfect but, its a refreshing and unique take on MMO pvp and has a lot of appeal to those of us with some MOBA background.
If you don’t like it, don’t play it, but I think the game type is great.
Well glad you & your friends like it. But from discussions i’m having & reddit.. seems that StrongHold is far away to be a favorite.
If you spent a lot of time on reddit you would think Guild wars 2 is either the best game evar or the worse game ever. You have no metrics to back up your claims, so whatever you pick up from the forums or reddit is not relevant.

you really don’t have to like SH. There are people who possibly like SH and all your QQ wont make SH go away.
Staff 3 and 5 are hitting for 5k damage each to 5 people AOE, if not cleansed. Signet of spite is hitting for 6k plus if not Cleansed. This is damage without having life force at all so that’s the reason it’s front loaded. A spite build is much more back loaded as you need to get life force. Then when you build some life force, you have rs 4 hitting very hard on top of the 2k bleed AOE from weakening shroud. It just seems logical that reaper should be hybrid when many of the skills do condi and direct damage. This build is a good way to utilize that split damage which is useful for fighting different defensive builds.
Flesh Wurm is crucial for escape and and reengagement. Roman gladiators would engage and disengage in their battles. The ability to reestabilsh range is critical for necro without toughness, minions. Fights vs DH shrine when you can escape their trap.
Of course condition damage will do damage if the victim isn’t smart enough to cleanse. Lack of cleanse is probably on viable at low MMR.

I remember game where Abjured was dying like little kittens ;-), yet they won 500-200 or so (it wasn’t Foefire) and it was prefect match to show what about CQ really is and show its weaknesses as gamemode:
-> It’s often worth to die to prevent cap/decap if someone can jump in your place during your downtime (even if you end dead).
-> Because in CQ often rotations are often more important than actual fights.But going to a gamemode like the one suggested by the OP would become far worse in terms of the effects on quality of play.
And strategic play is a type of skill in itself. Players using a strategy to win a otherwise losing situation is a measure of skill in itself. No-respawn TDM doesn’t have strategic play and really doesn’t involve much personal skill either since matches usually come down to which team has the worst player on it, rather than which team has the best player on it.

It just causes more balance problems, because even if all professions would have 50% vs each other and skill would decide 1v1 and 2v2 situations and so on then more tanky (who can hold for longer, even few seconds of longer cap/decap than enemies can decide “close enough” match) and more mobile (who can +1 more frequently or move between points) composition is better, which makes even more imbalances.
You can try and disagree all you want but it doesn’t make what they said any less truthful. And arena net is not foolish to implement such a bad game mode. Conquest might be flawed but not at the level of TDM.
Anyway who are you trying to convince with your weak argumens? Us, yourself or arena net? Convincing us is easy, convincing arena net…is not.
Why not take YSIM? it is an AOE chill. Especially since you will be meleeing. In any case the synergy isn’t worthhile.

You are better off just using the standard reaper conditioneer on meta battle. Also the CD on the selected wells are too long for a weak damaging condition such as chill even with bitter chill.

EDit: What I meant to say was with effect 6 on rune of grenth, you can have the shout give AoE chill every 20-(x*number of players hit).

Arena net made it very clear Legendary collections would be hard. Their intent was to keep the value of precursor.
Why didn’t they just leave ranked as it was until the league was ready. I don’t understand the reason why they had to pull it a month before. I mean they didn’t say hey guys we are working on a new expansion called HoT so we are going to pull the core game until it’s ready, but in the meantime you can play SAB instead.

Even tho for once conquest had strategy and teamwork I guess throwing hybrids everywhere and trying to match numbers validates as “skill full play”
Capping points actually mattered with minstrels other than pseudo death match where it was chaotic af and the points didn’t really matter as much

They gain nothing from it because people here will constantly use that apology to bash them. So pretty much nothing changes. Apology or not. It is better to not show weakness to a crowd incapable of acting above high schoolers.
The reason you can not find anything about it is because they havent said much about it. We dont know for a little while longer since leagues probably start for a long while.
I was going to disagree with you, but after the changes to BB (like someone said, a simple ICD of 1 sec could have done the trick), has completely ruined the reaper. (well not really but Hyperbole).
So we have a class with a bad AA, an overrated skill with a long aftercast, a barely functional pull skill. A weak Class mechanic.
We really got screwed. We have a terrible new weapon (AA sucks a lot) a major trait nerf to the ground. I have pretty much shelved the reaper and just sticking with the good old necro. I might not be perfect, but there is not point investing in a trait line that doesn’t offer much.
So “healthy gameplay” is a full bruiser meta? because thats what you gonna get if you make support roles unviable. Rip support guard. With the current power creep, only the new amulett could make it somewhat good. Before the patch we only saw cele running around and we will go back to this again. Its seems like cele is the healthy gameplay anet is looking for.
Infinitely better than a boring slow bunker or heal bot bullkitten. There is a reason why most competitive games are action pack and watching noddles fighting.
Precursor crafting is for people how want to do the quest for the experience or for people who don’t understand opportunity costs and can’t associate saving gold with getting closer to buying one off the tp.
Basically it’s changed nothing in regards to if you were able to craft a legendary before.
If you are worry or concern about opportunity cost, then doing anything in game is comparatively worse. You are better off from now on simply converting $$ to gems to gold.
