Almost everybody uses lots of condi remove. Ancient seeds/entangle in particular is countered by many things. And condi ranger/druid relies too much on it.

Again – condi ranger can work. Just like my melee ranger can work. And almost anything else. But other builds are clearly better in most cases.

Better is subjective. A melee ranger is brutal in a 1v1 and if your opponent isn’t built for a lot of condi removal then any condi build will be the optimal thing to use when fighting him.
I’m not going to argue with you that rangers/druid need some serious love. But that’s not just condi builds. Their crappy power scaling was bad enough pre hot but now when you have other professions shelling out 10k+ damage in a single ranged hit every few seconds, it really makes you wonder how anyone complained about rapid fire.
Everyone else got power creep, rangers/druids got sustain that doesn’t really work well outside of a 1v1, and new pets that are getting nerfed almost every update because it’s “unfair” that they can actually land their attacks.

Yes but you can apply them a lot faster than they can remove them. You just have to read the player and figure out just how much condi removal they have and when to bomb them.
And also be aware that no matter what you run, sometimes you will run into a build that simply counters yours. In these situations you can run or fight dirty. For example when I ran into reapers I would kite around like crazy using my pets and staff to keep pressure on them. I’d occasionally hit them with a condi bomb and then run the hell away and swap pets so they didn’t have anything to transfer the condi’s to. I would just keep up this hit and run tactikittenil they died and then I’d mail them humiliation dye when they started in with the hate whispers.

You can make anything work … till you meet good players with good builds. Even if you can use almost anything in WvW with some success (not only condi), there are good reasons, why certain builds are stronger than most others. And both condi ranger and condi engi are fairly easy to counter, especially by builds with decent condi remove and ranged dmg.

Btw, try stacking 30+ bleeds on somebody who is not (brain) afk …

It was easy until the latest round of ranger nerfs. Crit bleed sb build using concussion shot + a point blank poison volley to proc ancient seeds 5 times. They’d usually already blown their condi clears to get rid of the 2o+ stacks of bleed they just got from entangle + mad king runes.

And of course condi builds are going to be countered by builds with heavy condi removal, just like direct damage builds are countered by tanky builds. If there was a build that was perfect for every situation everyone would be running that.

I LOVE playing condition builds, but there is NO DIVERSITY. I am saying that you MUST RUN CONFUSION/TORMENT for a condition build to be viable. I am NOT trying to nerf all condition builds.

Yeah that’s not really true though. As long as you can throw on enough cover conditions you can make any condi work. Hell I was running a hybrid ranger build a month ago that would put 4-5k bleed ticks on people, last week I was running an engi burn build that melted people.

Sorry but this is thread is completely inaccurate. I run a hugely condi build reaper, however, a high power build melee class can take me down fast and a thief using macros from hiding…well, I am not even going to go there, because it’s the weekend and I DON’T WANT TO START IT HACKED OFF!!!

Chris and I just made several informative posts about World Linking on Reddit. I’m reposting them here.

On Population Caps

Some information behind the current server population cap behavior:
Many may already know this bit, but for anyone else who doesn’t: world population is determined by activity level in WvW (Edge of the Mists and Obsidian Sanctum don’t count). If World A has many-times the number of players on it as World B, but World A does’t play WvW at all and World B plays tons of WvW, A will have the lowest population, and B will have a very high one.

This is not caused by the additional players bought about by the server link, but from returning players and a lower population cap on the host servers.
This is only partly true. We’ve also had a substantial increase in global WvW participation since reward tracks, world linking, and the return of the Alpine borderlands. On top of that, we use a fairly long historical tail on WvW activity level for world population purposes. Intent being to prevent worlds from artificially lowering their cap with just a couple weeks of intentional inactivity. One flipside of that being that even if global WvW population levels dropped next week, if they were still higher than pre-<aforementioned factors>, population levels would still go up as a new, higher week replaces an older, lower one in the window of time being used.
World linking problem: linking, say, a T8 NA world with a T1 NA world and doing nothing with population caps will make it very easy to pile onto an already-healthy world. So something needs to be done with population caps.
There are two opposing goals we can aim for.

  • Short-term prevention of bandwagoning. To do this, we’d need to make it more difficult to join a world that’s already low enough in WvW population to merit being linked in the first place.
  • Long-term health of worlds with less WvW activity. To do this, we’d need to make it easier to join a world that’s already low enough in WvW population to merit being linked in the first place.

As for what modifications we’ve put in place for population levels to not allow world linking to break the meaning and purpose of population entirely, we’re currently trying a compromise between going completely toward either the long-term or short-term health goals for world populations.

  • Unlinked worlds have the highest population cap.
  • Linked worlds have significantly lower population caps.

Some things we’re considering to help discourage bandwagoning:

  • Increasing the cost to transfer to lower-population worlds (since they’re now often going to be linked to high-pop worlds). For example, possibly 800 gems instead of 500.
  • Having merge hosts always considered Full, and their guest(s) all sharing the population their host would otherwise have.
  • Locking out transfers for a period of time after world links become active.

On Relinking More Often

We are also considering adjusting links more than once a quarter. There are some pros and cons to this, but assuming World Linking wins the current poll, we could poll on adjusting the re-link rate.

Pros:

  • More variety in allies and opponents.
  • Players are less likely to bandwagon.
  • World populations become more stable.

Cons:

  • Matchmaking becomes less accurate. There’d be more unfair matches.
  • The WvW World Rank leaderboard becomes less meaningful.
  • Additional administrative work for worlds coordinating voice-chat/forum access with their changing allies.
  • Players may start to avoid socializing and forming bonds with their cross-world allies, since they are likely to change often.
  • My team(WvW) spends more of our time analyzing population and match data, to determine new links, leaving less time for other types of WvW work.
  • It becomes harder to remember which worlds are currently linked, and know when the next relink is supposed to happen.

Want an idea to change WvW?

Lock GUILDS to their servers (and the people IN them so they don’t guild or server hop!) for at least six months.

You haven’t looked at the populations or you wouldn’t have locked the servers together – they would be movable to whichever server is larger with a smaller server to augment.

It makes me crazy that we suggested the latter and you took it as a quick out to just lock bottom and top servers (at the time) without any recognition or care of the populations and the server stacking that is STILL going on.

And shall we talk about hacking? It’s getting ridiculous.

I’m in 3 guilds on 3 separate servers….. If they went with your idea should I be locked away from 2 groups of friends or would I get to switch servers by going into my guild list and repping a different guild?

thieves thieves thieves… stealth is a pain in the butt from all classes! ever tried to clear a mesmer out of your keep alone or duo? good luck with that. RANGERS constantly stealthing, engis now stealthing – every godkitten class is stealthing when it was only thief at the beginning and very very little mesmer. just stop right there and turn around and start REMOVING stealth and giving other tools. this argument is stupid “dont touch thief it can do nothing execept stealth and kill noobs”.. well wow isnt that the best argument to how broken op the stealth mechanic is in this game? you can basically nerf the classes to the ground – as long as they can stealth they are just fine! no this has been going the wrong direction for a long time, just like the invuln /block/evade spam – make combat more about position, movement, reaction – not about rotating through your damage-nullifiers/stealth/evades and not giving a kitten.

You say make combat more about movement and reaction while complaining about blocks and evades in the same sentence lol.

Also rangers have been able to stealth for years, engi’s have been able to since the start of the game.

You say remove stealth and provide other tools but than you proceed to complain about kitten near every other tool for avoiding damage…. is it only fair if players stand still and trade punches like this is rock ’em sock ’em robots?

Well the alternative is for things to remain the same where your night crew carries the server through ppt, forcing you into matches like the current one where you all don’t stand a chance and people get so demoralized they rage quit the game.

I play on SoS, and this week we are against maguuma and FA while losing pretty hard. For the first two day (Friday and Saturday) we hung in there, but by Sunday the server had apparently given up and the past two days have been totally dead. Nobody ever thought we would be competitive in the matchup and this has caused most of the server to take the week off.

Two days of action and now apparently 5 days of retaking towers when the other servers are done with them. And that’s boring.

Alpine is less roamer friendly than Desert, so even that’s boring.

Wasn’t the idea of server linking to put most servers on at least an even footing? The numbers game here isn’t working.

I’m on SoS/GoM, too, and have noticed as of Sunday the drop in our paired server’s participation. I’ve actually seen more familiar faces from GoM lately than the larger SoS guilds.

Perhaps when the smaller incremental scoring is implemented and servers don’t end up as far apart and have a chance at catching up, and the night-capping points not being so lopsided, then it might keep players interested in continuing the fight rather than giving up once a 20-40k point spread exists after 3 days.

Nightcapping makes up about 90% of SoS’s score. The scoring change is going to hit your server way harder than most.

So since the Tuesday patch my game has pretty much gone to kitten, I’ve had a huge fps drop and and my right click turning is unreliable as hell. .

Holy turtles I thought there was something wrong with my computer. I have the same problems since tuesday. I hope they will fix this.

I switched back to the 32 bit client which helped a lot with the fps(still not close to what it was but at least it’s payable again) but the mouse is still pretty kitten ed buggy.

On Tuesday I killed 1 on my engi without moving at all, I just rotated blocks, blinds, dodges, stealth, invuln, cc, and aoe to kill him. This was on my alt account which doesn’t have HoT.
I’ve easily wrecked them on necro, ranger, mesmer, and today I won several 1v2’s on a warrior build that I’d been playing for about 5 minutes.
If I can do this on multiple classes without being able to reliably turn, I have to wonder what it is you all are running that you are crying about thieves killing you. Are you playing some full glass, backline zerg build and not sticking with the zerg? I think the only time I do have trouble fighting thieves is if I’m running a glass thief (because I’m a pretty mediocre thief) or if I’m on a staff ele zerg build (which I almost never play).
There are so many passive and active save your kitten skills in the game it is pretty much impossible to be insta killed without having a chance to react.
This really is a l2p issue.

To be fair aren’t you one of the top roamers in the game?

I have no idea how that could even be determined, I do win the majority of my fights and I build so I can escape a bad/heavily outnumbered situation. But when I legit can’t turn to make it harder for them to land a back stab I’d say my fighting ability is average at best.
There was a time when thieves were extremely dangerous but that time is long past. Now they have to run in packs or find really glassy targets.

Seriously, I don’t know what other advise to give you. Thieves are pretty mediocre 1v1 and have been for awhile. If they are going 2v8 and beating you…… yeah, get better.
Or just stick with your zerg and stop squirreling. You guys can just power rez each other while cc/aoe bombing over your downed ally and the thieves won’t be able to do anything.

Play what? I haven’t seen a Friday night fight night in about a year, the only thing that happens on Friday before reset is karma trains while people wait for reset.

All the west coast players who are complaining… you guys literally have no reason to kittening complain even if the reset is 5pm PST or 6 pm pst you guys will still have the whole night to play where as east coast people do not.

You assume all West Coast players log in at 5/6pm Pacific so therefore we must have all night. Please stop. Most of us can’t do that. A lot of us are just getting out of work or ending college classes or eating dinner, something most EST players have a chance to do with a 8/9pm EST reset.

…….Ummm okay? So if you don’t log on for a couple hours anyway how would moving the reset affect you?

Ancient Seeds: Fixed a bug that allowed multiple triggers of this trait on a single target.
Yea…..I’m going to pick my battles. We all saw this comming. If you didn’t know, you could daze a single target then use a multiple projectile attack like poison volley or split blade and hit the target 5 times simultaneously. This would trigger 5 bleeds and immobile to be reapplied every second for each projectile that lands. So, 5 bleeds every second for 5 seconds and 1 second of immobilize every second for 5 seconds. Yea, it was broken.

that bug was pretty much the only thing that made shortbow somewhat viable. They shouldn’t have removed it without doing a lot more work on shortbow first.

And none of the pets needed nerfs. They need to fix the rest of the pets so they actually land their attacks. That’s what will bring back pet diversity.

How long will Alpines last?

The current plan is to rotate the borderlands maps each quarterly update. That said, now that we are actively polling the community, perhaps we can start exploring other options.

Quarterly rotation is way way way too long!

If you were to bring back DBL for 3 months, that’ll be 3 months during which all those players who came back will go back to other games and us having 50+ queues, even more now with server mergers, for EB!!!

Again your response shows that not much balancing thoughts were put into the DBLs, as the original plan for WvW was to have several maps one rotation, and those maps should obviously be roughly equal to each other.
DBLs were a gimmick, like EOTM, which is where it would be better suited; and WvW getting a proper new balanced map.

If you are sticking to DBL for the meantime it’d be better to go weekly or fortnightly, cos you know most of us hate DBL, do you really think we would want it for 3 months straight?!
Server mergers wont change players’ minds on the DBL, rather you’ll be forcing players to either play on them, wait for an hour or more for EB queue to pop, or leave the game for 3 months!

I am not sure what server you are on but the BLs are dead again for us. Our home BL has a couple people on it capping but mostly its all on EB again.

DBL was just more interesting than ABL and the rapid drop in population again on the BLs shows that it wasn’t the map decreasing population, its the scoring/rewards that makes people leave for better rewarded/more even parts of the game.

I have accounts on 2 tiers and the bl’s are very active on both.
I’m guessing you consider it dead if there isn’t a tag/karma train running? Try going out and capping a tower, I’m pretty sure you’ll see a response.

Doesn’t the strength of a stun/CC determine how much of the break bar is depleted when hit by it? A 0.5 second reduction on the daze translates to 1/4 of it’s strength as a CC. According to the wiki (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defiance_Bar#Hard_control_effects) the chart shows a 1.5 second daze has a break power of 150, while a 2 second daze has a break power of 200.

Many druids already brought it as one of the few ways to recover from several people being hit by the shake attack (it instakilled the pet if you couldn’t swap it out but better than players). The CD is 60 seconds which is too long for it to be a reliable counter in that fight considering how often players get hit by slubling condis, especially in the final phase when they can’t be blocked/reflected. Sometimes it was also necessary to pop it if you for some reason got feared after a sleep. Active, low CD condi clear is incredibly important to the fight and plenty of groups can’t handle the condis even with the old druid cleanses.

Yeah it seems like I’m feeling the difference in breakbars in raids, because of the lower daze. And also increased cd on lunar impact screwed up my rotation, need to learn again.

Comming from a pve perspective, the nerfs weren’t necessary in my oppinion, it didn’t feel overpowered at all. Kind of a bummer, yes. I can’t say anything about pvp.

Not sure if we rangers are “traumatized” and overreactive for any nerf which troubles are objective views, or developers really have favorite and less favorite professions.
I hardly can believe the latter though, that would mean they’re very incapable of their job, having favorites, which I can not imagine.

When you hear devs making kittenty “bear bow” jokes during their streams, and when you watch Rangers eating one nerf after the next for years (while being considered the weakest class), it’s not hard to believe the devs have their favorite professions and other professions they flat out do not like.

Here’s a poll I created before and it clearly shows most of the people want an hour early reset

I think its a bit premature to say ‘most’ people since 86 total have voted.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d be ok if they moved the reset time back an hour or two, but just like you, it would only be convenience for me but perhaps make others west of us unhappy.

Oh you are from the west… I mean you are from West you shouldn’t be complaining because your argument is completely irrelevant not to sound rude. I know 6pm pst is rush hour in California but that’s not the time I expect you guys to sleep. 10pm est gets pretty late for East Coast players and if you work on weekends I expect most of us to get in bed around 10:30 or 11ishpm. Where if you are on West coast you still have the whole kittening night play.

No, I said I was in the East in an earlier post. I also said that 10pm is hardly to late for me. The point of my post was what convenient for you or me will probably be an inconvenience for someone else.

Ten may not be late for you but some people have to work on Saturdays. If they end up hitting an hour+ queue they’ll likely miss reset all together.
For someone on the west coast this isn’t that big a deal. They get home, see there is a queue, make some dinner (possibly queue up), hop in the game and enjoy several hours of reset.

Basically the argument is by moving the time they might cause some people to miss the first hour of reset, but by keeping it as is they are causing players to miss reset all together.

shouldnt be boosted by much if it does get one. most people hate auto upgrades. that was one of the biggest gripes a lot of people had with the dbl.

uh no it isn’t. In the past not only do I have to babysit yaks, I also had to keep on reminding people not to take supply, then I had to spend my own gold(After getting 0 gold for the hour) on upgrading. Now all I really need to do is babysit yaks, which is fine.

Just because you like the change doesn’t mean no one else was against it.
Players have asked for years for the cost of upgrades to be removed (or switched to karma/badges) but the auto upgrades are terrible and lazy. It needs to go back to being player initiated.

For something that probably took up to 2 years to develop I just find that really sad!

With the changes they have made its makes an interesting and different map to fight in, on rotation. I honestly don’t think you have given it a chance after the changes. To throw it all away and be stuck with the same 4 year old maps for maybe another 2 would just be really sad.

(So true I said it twice!)

I spent plenty of time in it after the last change (because ebg queues were so high I couldn’t get in), the map was slightly less terrible but it still only encouraged zerging.

My total time on the dbl is probably something pretty low like 50ish hours, that isn’t enough time to learn all the best spots to attack each structure but it’s plenty of time to learn all the short cuts around the map. In 1 hour on alpine I found more roaming fights than all my hours on the dbl.

Because life is too short for me to try fix all of the classes in Guild Wars 2.

How about you go try to convince devs that they need fixing too while I try to do it for necro ?

Because the ability to run around in a blob and tag enemies isn’t how I define a professions effectiveness.

The devs are going to rework the map to be more likable to the masses.

The devs will probably make a video showing their progress and ask our opinion.

The devs will keep working on it and someday bring it back into rotation when it’s in a wvw worthy state.

Start from the beginning designing it around keeping players in the action not trying to get to it and give them a reason to be there. Give them easy to access terrain with direct routes, where you do not spend more than a few seconds in between each one. Objectives should be simple and easy to scout. Make it so players can actually use their skills everywhere..

These things should be the primary focus when building the map , not trying to come back later and force the map to try to add these things after it is already messed up.

Along with that they need to focus on function over flavor. Keep out the random obstacles on the ground that block projectiles, teleports and leaps.
Having obstacles to LoS (like the huts in alpine supply camps) is great, but you need to be able to see that they are there. The outcome of a fight shouldn’t be determined by crappy terrain bugs.
Keep the ground smooth, use ramps instead of stairs.

In a nutshell, previous posters want a map with no design, perfectly smooth and flat, with more or less infinite depth of view, and objectives close to each others so that tedious runs would be avoided.

You (probably intentionally) misunderstood me. There is nothing wrong with including variety like hills, large boulders, trees, etc.
We just don’t need annoying little trip hazards like the root in dbl sw tower, and we don’t need the terrain that is a thousand little steps instead of a smooth ramp (used to kill you because of the fall damage bug, obstructs projectiles, screws up movement skills).

The devs are going to rework the map to be more likable to the masses.

The devs will probably make a video showing their progress and ask our opinion.

Start from the beginning designing it around keeping players in the action not trying to get to it and give them a reason to be there. Give them easy to access terrain with direct routes, where you do not spend more than a few seconds in between each one. Objectives should be simple and easy to scout. Make it so players can actually use their skills everywhere..

These things should be the primary focus when building the map , not trying to come back later and force the map to try to add these things after it is already messed up.

Along with that they need to focus on function over flavor. Keep out the random obstacles on the ground that block projectiles, teleports and leaps.
Having obstacles to LoS (like the huts in alpine supply camps) is great, but you need to be able to see that they are there. The outcome of a fight shouldn’t be determined by crappy terrain bugs.
Keep the ground smooth, use ramps instead of stairs.

We only had one week of active play in DBl and all I can do is repeat the discussion that has been going on here ad-nauseam – people’s experiences differed. We had a very interesting 10 days on the DBls before they were swapped out. I’m not an ABl hater, I’m very glad it’s in rotation, should have been from the start, but the DBls were not as you described here, at the end.

We had good fights that were won and lost for all 3 keeps, on the new, improved maps, when people had returned. I think there is just a lot more work to be done to understand the best strategies for the new maps, when everyone knows the ABls backwards. Personally I think that’s good, but it’s clear not all agree.

We only had 1 week of active play for a few reasons.
When they were released and people spent several weeks getting to know the maps, so many were disgusted with them to the point that they would only play in EBG or quit playing all together. This led to 6 months of the map being dead.

They literally cut the number of servers in half and at the same time started showing the first real interest in WvW in years, resulting in huge EBG queues.

Players that had completely quit started returning to the game because they heard the alpine was returning, and the massive EBG queues left them with the choice to either play crappy eotm or crappy dbl.

The Toxisity in this threat is over the roof and show how “bad” are the forum warriors.

Things that I’m trying to point out is that there is a very notorious bug that most of you ignore:

Even if you tag the whole enemy zerg while they’re alive when they start getting downed and finished if you do not tag them again you do not qualify for reward.

We’re talking about bug not about you being “PRO” players and me being “Newbie”.

Past years I’ve created a spreadsheet for my guild adding every bit of loot data to it and the percentage shows that necros (now reapers) are almost always with less loot after every raid.

Stop being so “Pro” for a while and try seeing the things from different point of view please.

I think you did your home work incorrectly…..
You don’t have to hit downed players to get loot.
Maybe you are getting less loot than other people because you are trying to use marks on downed players instead of doing damage to the players that are still up and fighting.

I typically roam or small group it up in wvw. What is with 90% of engagements in wvw ending up in opponents running for their life as soon as they get low on HP? Even numbers, outnumbered, etc. It’s ok to die…..

Is it a generation thing? Do us older players that grew up playing Ninja Gaiden or landing the plane in Top Gun accept that games can sometimes be hard and you lose and younger gamers need that instant gratification easy mode? I base that purely on having interns at my work play these stupid games on their phone and saying “oh i need to buy coins to make the game go faster so I can win faster” WHAT!?!?!

I guess it’s sorta ruining the roaming experience for me personally. I get a good fight and as soon as they are low “see ya!” or I get rage whisper “condi expletive” or “zerker expletive”. Appears no matter what gear or build you run you are a “blank expletive”. I guess I like fighting till the end and seeing just how far you can make it outnumbered or experiencing what I did wrong in a fight.

Why give someone a free bag? Make them work for it, especially when fighting outnumbered. I spent most of the day screwing with a group of bl defenders that would only engage me when they could gather 4 people (after I killed a few of them 1v1 or 1v2).
I wasn’t going to stand there and let them kill me, I kept doing hit and run attacks, if I started to get low I’d use my superior mobility to reset the fight. I managed to down them multiple times in the 1v4 but couldn’t get a stomp off because the aoe damage was too much and the crazy amount of cc could instantly strip my stability.
I kept myself entertained and kept them to occupied to get anything done or defend against other roamers, and during a couple of the fights 1 or 2 other roamers passed by and we wiped them.

Roaming isn’t dueling. You build differently for each activity. Part of a roaming build is being able to escape a bad situation.

I’m pretty sure casual wvw players like you need to learn how to adapt to changes. These cannons would work as any other siege we currently have and make the towers relevant with their placement.

Work like any other siege……
except you don’t have to build them, so no supply management
will have much farther range than other siege so it can’t be countered the way trebs can in alpine

It sounds like another gimmick that will allow the dbl lovers to avoid fighting the same way the dino skyhammer was. Go back to eotm.

People are doing the exact same thing in ABL right now. You do have to build them if you bothered to read other peoples posts. Its a blueprint that becomes available when the tower reaches a certain tier. Like a cannon emplacement. It would still probably cost a tower full of supply so it would take TIME and resources to build that either a group of players would work together to make or an individual would take a long time to make.

Super Cannons would work exactly the same way that a treb inside the NE and NW towers of ABL do right now. And would work to draw people out of garrison the way they do right now.

Take the time to read what other people are righting before replying. Or you just end up making yourself sound like a hypocrite. As for trebs being able to be countered in alpine. Please. Unless you build shield gens you can’t get a treb up fast enough to stop trebs from another tower from killing you. And if both sides DO get shield gens up its just a case of “well guess we wait till the other one gets bored”.

So let me put it this way. Super Cannon on the towers would do more to draw people out into the field and start a fight. Instead of having two emplacements shoot at eachother. Or relying on invulnerable treb bug to take back the towers.

Again. None of your points hold up to scrutiny here.

Maybe if EVERY roamer wasnt a cheese mesmer it might be fun. It’s not fun fighting air.

I haven’t had any problems with mesmers since they toned down their burst damage. It was annoying being insta gibbed from stealth. Now they actually have to fight and unless they are real close to a tower they can’t escape if they start to lose.

It was anoying…. dead for usign blocks, after dodge burts still few seconds later burst RIP , etc…

I had some situations when i got confusion at the last second before i press shelter and those blocks doing 4k damage per block on myself, with me trying to cancel block.. wel to late RIP, still trying to understand how mesmer where doing that since confusion was the only condi that wast being removed, since i play with blocks removign condis, and shelter should remove a condi per second.

Nowadays im getting ganked by teams of 5 DH (lold, that run away if then need to fight 3 players, they only engage on 5 vs 1), and groups of 5 daredevil/thiefs.

Lol the thief groups are the worst because most of them are running such tanky builds that the only way they can kill anything is in a 5v1. It’s pretty depressing to see players resort to that.
I rarely see those groups in the bl though, they usually stick to ebg trying to pick off random zerglings that fell off the Karma train.

An argument can be made for any traitline when using a melee build.
If you decide to go a bit more tanky you could go marksmanship with moment of clarity and remorseless, or even predators onslaught since you should be able to keep cripple up.
Skirmishing offers a lot of great stuff like quickdraw, furious grip (which works great with remorseless) and striders defense.
Wilderness knowledge brings good condi removal, and depending on utilities can also be a way to trigger fury for remorseless.
Nature magic has protective ward which is pretty clutch when going melee, also all the boon duration is great for might stacking.
Beastmastery is just full of goodness, with taunts, quickness, improved pets, and it’s really good if you decide you want to use shouts (+ trooper runes) for condi removal and swiftness/regen.
Druid has a nice burst cleanse/stun break, stealth/superspeed, and ancient seeds to help keep them in melee.

I think you are going to have to mess around to figure out which combo of traits works best for you. Also give off hand axe a try over dagger, it does some pretty decent damage.

Possibly. I just remember being pretty annoyed when it happened lol. I noticed it because I’d be trying to ninja bay or hills and I’d always jump off the cata when the last shot was still in the air to get inside as quickly as possible, then one day those last shots stopped doing damage.

You have to be actively using the siege to see the damage numbers. It still hits, still does damage, you just aren’t seeing the numbers because you’ve jumped off too quickly.

I don’t think that’s right. Try using a sup cata on a paper structure, you can visibly see the walls “health” drop with each hit. If you jump off before the projectile hits it doesn’t take damage.
This changed before HoT so it’s been awhile.

Yes they did design the deserted bl in their vision. Unfortunately their vision (y’know the whole WvW players love PvE bullkitten) was terrible and drove away a huge chunk of the population.
Now if you were running a company (remember, companies need to make money to survive) and you realized you made a mistake that was losing you a lot of business would you just say “ah kitten it, I didn’t really want to keep the lights on anyway”, or would you correct that mistake?

If I recall, an ANet member stated in the thread mentioning Friday becoming the reset day again that the old 9:00 P.M. reset time wasn’t possible anymore due to a newfound technical issues, I’m not quite sure though.

That said, I’d prefer the good ol’ 9:00 P.M. It just coincides better with most plans as far as I can tell, that, and it’s another hour to go at it in WvW before it gets too early the next morning.

I’m pretty sure it was something to do with them doing patches during reset and interrupting it.
…..Which has me wondering why they would implement a patch and then leave for the weekend? Wouldn’t it be better to put out patches on Monday so if something goes wrong you are there to fix it?
But yeah, definitely 9 for me.

If you want to play with your guildies, reset is the single WORST possible time to schedule a guild raid due to not even being able to get part of your guild on the map due to reset queues. Queues are great for people who do not care about guild/ classes/ party comp and want to mindlessly run around blobbing it up, better off drunken raiding than actually thinking about what a sloppy mess it is.

Players are still welcome to play all the way up until reset btw, which would be nice to see last minute upsets and the game played full out all week rather than not even trying to play and sitting there waiting for reset instead. It isn’t like you cannot play prior to it resetting as well and are banned from WvW for an extended period of time. They only shut it down a short bit while it resets.

I live on the east coast but I work weird hours. Friday and Saturday nights are the only night of the week I can run with my guild but due to the reset time being pushed back to 10pm I usually end up missing it.

And yes we could play prior to reset but the match is almost always well decided by that point and everyone except the k-train pug zerg is taking a break before reset. That makes any fights we find roughly the same as raiding against the kitten eotm players.

Or maybe introduce a rotation, like 1 month desert, 1 month alpine? That way everyone could have a chance to play on the map they prefer?

Way too long to be stuck with a kittenty map. 1 week would be ideal, 2 weeks max.
