If I can work 15 hour days 7 days a week and STILL get my dailies done, there is no excuse to have ANY kind of grace period on doing dailies. You have 24 hours to do them in.
I think the current linking system does the same job (after all, you could “gear check” to get in to some group and then swap to identical gear with different stats anyway)
While I would agree with you on the gear swap, that is the other reason the Elitists want an inspect option so they can do random gear inspections during dungeons.
Karma armor is not in there.
Yes it is.
I don’t see why people are so against inspecting gear. Elitists are like… 5% of the population. Just tell them to kitten off.
You put in an inspect gear option and you will find that Elitists are closer to 75-85% of the population on most of the servers. That is taking into account for all those “closet elitists” that say they don’t mind what gear you have to suck up to the devs and come off as innocent and friendly until they get the inspect gear option… Then they show their true colors.
Sadly, we have pretty much already figured out why they went with character based.
$$$
Even with the excuse:
“Customized dye should be something that denotes your characters progress, like better looking, more elaborate gear. As you spend more time on your character, they grow and gain access to more customization options. If we make dyes account based, this progression will only happen on one character. We wanted character customization to remain tied to the character but we felt that one-time-use dyes discouraged players from customizing as often as they would like, that is how we arrived at the current system.”

People will just buy the colors they want, IE. ANet somehow makes $$$.
Though I’d like to see the numbers on how many dye packs they sell off the Gem Store nowadays.

Google “Kristen Perry Colors will be unlocked, not muled.” and you will find quite a few forums and articles referencing the same link (that is now dead) and some even quoted the whole blog article.
I agree.
Oh, and Ravion, your link didn’t work.
Might be because I place that link in all the “Make dye Account Wide” threads.
They promised Account Wide dyes then broke their promise. I’ll see if there is another article and link that one.
It was intended to be Account Bound.
Kristen PerryColors will be unlocked, not muled.
Storage was always a factor when it came to dye colors in Guild Wars. The new system would cripple most inventories if we required characters to lug all the dyes around. Fear not! The dye hues themselves will be unlockable through various means, both in-game and out. Once you unlock the color, it will be available across your entire account, not just the individual character.

I see people in Divinity’s Reach, but I think that is because for whatever reason, the starting area of Queensdale has become “the” starting area. I see low levels of all races leveling there. And I don’t mean down leveled, I see fresh alts leveling.
Maybe part of the problem is the cities design. Divinity’s Reach is relatively straight forward, so is LA. But Rata Sum is a nightmare. It’s a maze that is horrible to visit and other than map complete, who would want to spend time there? It’s design is awful.
So is the Grove. Horrible, maze like design that is not fun to visit, only frustrating.
Players are used to play in familiar environments like they have seen in all other games. From all the starting zones, the human zones are the most populated because of this.
People choose it regardless of what design it has as long as it feels familiar to them.
Actually, Queensdale is the easiest starter zone for getting all your weapon skills opened (under the bridge) and when it comes to dailies, everyone has the Champion Cave Troll’s time down to an art. Queensdale also has more active DEs and more variety of enemies within closer proximity to each other.
I honestly think that with how often we get these threads about getting rid of MF and adding an inspect feature, each thread should net every player that is for the removal of MF and the addition of an inspect feature a 3 day ban for harassment and grieving.
Maybe a week long ban for the ones that admit to booting players for using MF gear.
Moderator, can this be locked down since there are already multiple threads like this?
But can we find a way of getting them into the mid-level areas?
If they’re not in Orr farming or guest farming the world bosses, they’re in just the starter areas doing their dailies.
Krytan kills/events/vet kill = They’re in Queensdale
Ascalonian kills/events/vet kill = They’re in Plains of Ashford
Shiverpeaks kills/events/vet kill = They’re in Wayfarer Foothills
Maguuma kills/events/vet kill = They’re either in Metrica Province or Caladan Forest.
I do appreciate your effort to get some life back to the starter areas, but the mid-level areas are still virtually dead.
Sans those dailies, everyone is in Queensdale.
Players don’t need timers for the Champion Troll nor the Champion Rotting Oakheart, we’ve got those timed in our sleep now.
You have to remember that in GW1 we had to set 8 skills first before we went exploring and that the weapons didn’t have skills attached to them and any character could use any weapon.
The only reason for having the 4 weapon swaps in GW1 was kinda how I used it. I always carried 3 staffs with different effects on them along with a bow for pulling On my necro.
Or 3-4 different sword/shield combos on my warrior.
You get the point.
I’d like to see 4 weapon sets for all classes, but I doubt it will happen because of the skills attached to the weapons.
I’ve noticed that sometimes it will mix up the average values of different level versions of the same item.
Do you realize how many levels that boot has?
Character slot? Boring to re-level one up and rebuy all the things. Even expensive, while we got no real option to get gold legally.
They will make more money in character slots.
Yet we always find the true reason behind “Race Change” threads every time…
Pure laziness to level another character.
I have 8 character slots with all 5 races and all 8 professions represented. No need for race changes. And from a programmer’s POV, the Cultural Armors and the Personal Story would be a coding nightmare NO MATTER when you want to do a race change. The Personal Story alone is based off character creation and no two races have the same options during creation.
Quit being lazy and just make a new character (whether through the purchase of a new slot or deleting an existing character) with the race you want instead of taking the easy way to 80 with one race then conveniently change to another that you may have found was “harder” to level up.
More instances would at least allevieate the problem and be cost effective.
That is technically what the overflow is, another instance on another server.
They would have to deal with the Storyline Quests – Not happening
They would have to deal with Cultural Armor – Not happening
They would have to deal with Racial Skills – Not happening.
If you want to spend money so badly, please buy a character slot.
Moderator, please lock this down due to repetitive thread.
Add this to your GW2 Shortcut -bmp. It kinda helps.
Ex:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -bmp

GvG won’t happen until they make guild membership account wide.
Current system can be easily exploited.
Having the guild list show you as offline when you’re not repping is defeated by the contact list which would show you as online. The elitist guilds would make sure to have members on their contact list so they can harass them when they are not repping.
The easiest solution to this problem: Make guild membership Account Wide and do away with multi-guild memberships. Simple as that.
This wouldnt force pve players, i didnt say to make the open pvp happens all the time, just “sometimes” so ppl can have that a different pvp option aside wvw and spvp.
You would basically force us PvE only players to stay away from the game for the duration of your little “extracurricular PvP” since it would lead to the harassment of us PvE players while we are trying to enjoy ourselves.
Go play WvWvW, PvP, or go play WoW.
i hate that when i killed all of the enemy’s but your still in combat for a like a couple of minutes after and there nothing around that will attack you the best way i find to cancel the combat is to log off to the character choose screen then log back on
This is the REAL problem with “in-combat/out-combat.” For some reason the game will still think you are in combat even after all conditions are removed and you’ve healed yourself to full. It keeps us from using way points and going to PvP and WvWvW.
It is just as bad as the LOS problem.
Put them on white or blue armor and the armor should become account bound.
Then either transmute or salvage with BL Salvage kit with the character you want to have them.
I’ve done this with soulbound armor so I could store it after remaking the character that had said armor because I chose the wrong Order. Dunno if it would work with this rune though.
any armour with an upgrade becomes soulbound last i knew
If the armor it is put on/transmuted to is green or higher then yes it becomes soulbound. My Cultural Sylvari Tier 2 armor is skinned onto blue grade armor and it is currently account bound and still only usable by Sylvari.

How could this be considered an exploit?
If all you are doing is selling on the TP then you are just shifting gold from player to player.
It is when you sell to a merchant that gold gets created. It is the sudden injection of gold into the economy from merchants that ANet would deem an exploit.
Then take the highest amount you can get from a merchant from one Orrian Box and use that as the “acceptable” merchant gain from Karma to Gold conversion.
IE. One Orrian Box gives you items that when totaled together and sold to a merchant 10 silver, then the creation of 10 silver into the economy for the Karma cost of 4550 (I think that is the Karma cost) is deemed acceptable by ANet’s standards. Don’t go over it.
Or just play it safe with what the OP asked. If you are asking yourself if it is an exploit, then don’t do it.
I see it as a gray area.
As we learned from the chili pepper popper exploit, ANet does not want karma turning into gold from merchants. IE creating more gold.
Throw 4 pieces of karma armor into the toilet and it spits out 1 piece of armor that has a merchant value that can now be sold to a merchant = technically an exploit.
Salvage the result from the toilet and the mats have a merchant value that can now be sold to a merchant = technically an exploit.
BUT, the players put either the result or the mats on the TP and it just shifts existing gold in the economy around = technically NOT an exploit.
It is a gray area. Partly why I hate multiple currencies in ANY game that you could get banned from if you figure out how to get the most desired currency from the others.
I want straight up purple hair for my thief!
TL;DR Read some and got offended.
I’m from a line of hunters. Rangers make sense to have rifles. Pistols not so much. They are trackers/hunters not stalker/assassins. By the logic of “keeping quiet” you give more reason to remove firearms altogether from Thieves and giving them long bows since they are the descendants of the assassins.
A Ranger/Hunter/Tracker weapon selection from what we have in game should be:
Dagger
Rifle
Bows (Long and Short)
Torch
Axe
Harpoon Gun
Spear
No swords, great swords, or war horns.
Anyone including developers that think Rifles are not very natural obviously don’t realize that the ingredients to gunpowder are sulfur, charcoal, and saltpeter (naturally occurring potassium nitrate).
And there is nothing more natural than the forging of metal which requires ALL 5 elements to make.
Earth = where the ore comes from
Fire = used to make the metal malleable
Air = used to make the fire hotter for the forging
Water = used to quench the hot metal
Spirit = the one who puts the other 4 elements to use while forging the metal.
Basically, ALL MMOs use D&D as their base model for classes. No one wants to use some sense when making classes. This leads to arguments over class balance. Real hunters will tell you how a Ranger would work. Real Soldiers will tell you how a Soldier class would work according to history and their training. Real Thieves and Assassins might not come forward and tell you how they really work, but a little sense could get you going in the right direction.
Hence why I am offended with any MMO that has a Druid class. I’m an actual Druid and we Druids DO NOT do anything remotely associated with the “cookie cutter” MMO Druid.
Get a Razer Naga mouse…
I got ALL my skills at thumb’s reach
Plus I have the wheel button set as my interact button. I only use the keyboard for jumping and kiting.
A-Net does have the ability to “reset” the market on the gems-to-gold since they own the rights to the game for one.
As to the internal economy, they are the “Gods” of the game and can flood the loot with items that they feel are getting out of control with their prices. IE: they can up the drop rate on unidentified dyes to curb the climbing prices.
In the end, yes A-Net “can” have full control of the market and all currencies if they feel they need to intervene. They made the game after all.
Guild Sabotage.
Best reason why it isn’t there.
Try bringing your interface size down one notch and see if it is a happy medium.
Buy Master’s Salvage Kits instead of Fine Salvage Kits.
Being a guild leader I can see what the base intent is of having the “Joined Date” and “Last Login” date.
But when I expanded my MMO experience from GW1 to other games while waiting for GW2, I can see why we don’t have that information in GW2.
Elitism and guild grieving.
I’ve seen and heard it over and over again how guilds demand you log in everyday and if they spot that you haven’t, they boot you. This also why we don’t have an inspect feature in GW2.
I don’t think we will ever get this information and we don’t need it.
Want an excuse to clear out your rosters, members list “Unknown” by their names instead of their server/world location if they haven’t logged in for about 3 weeks to a month.
They’d have to make Dye Account bound in order for it to be used during character creation since it is a new character with no unlocked dyes. If it was just a feature to use with the hair styling/full make over kit then players would feel like they are being double whammied if they turned gems to gold or bought dye kits from the gem store.
After just sitting back and watching the forums lately I found myself asking why didn’t A-Net make PvE, PvP, and W3 only characters like they did with GW1?
PvP stayed in PvP and PvE could go to PvP if they wished.
Guild Wars 2 could do roughly the same:
*PvP stays in PVP. Level 80 and level 80 gear.
*W3 can go to PvP but not to PvE. W3 characters work the same as now except they can start with level 80 gear, but still have to earn their skills and skill slots. They can never enter PvE
*PvE can go to W3 and PvP
It has been coming across on these forums that W3 players really don’t want PvE players in W3 and that the W3 players would prefer to stay out of PvE.
And vice-versa.
So, why don’t we have separate character modes for this?
Would anyone like to see this implemented at some point?
Personally I could care less about it, but some might prefer to have full separation of the three play modes.
I think this is how the other “account bind dyes” threads should have started.
I do know that we have a thread on this that is around 6-7 pages long.
I still support the request to make them account bound especially since that is how it was intended in the first place.
I think you guys just haven’t watched enough rifle warriors do their “dance of death” on champions solo. It isn’t about DPS or crit rate. It is about the dance.
You can tell who is a Mechwarrior/Earthsiege/Armored Core/Front Mission veteran by how they do the dance with a rifle warrior.
And yes, I’m a vet of all of the above.
(edited by Ravion Hawk.4736)
I think the QQ is that the dungeons will allow ANY level into them but will scale any level above the dungeon down.
Ex. Take a level 80 through and swap to a level 2 or 3 to power level the alt.
I could care less about it because it isn’t hurting me any. If they want to power level, so be it. It is not like they will face-roll the lower areas because of down-scaling.
Odds are that they are doing this to level up alt professions that are a pain to play in the beginning (mesmers and engineers for me) but can become fun to play after level 30-40.
My official stance: Whoop-tie-do. They aren’t hurting my gaming experience none.
Sounds like you hit Diminished Returns (DR) which is anti-farming code meant to thwart bots.
Ctrl + C = Copy

Dailies reset at 1900 in the EST. Just remember when your reset time is.
Guild Membership will have to become Account wide before any GvG content gets added.
The same for Guild Halls that have services. Character based guild membership has too many ways to abuse Guild Halls and GvG content.
I’ve watched it first hand in just about ALL of Perfect World Entertainment’s MMOs.
It would be far, far easier for people to start ignoring these mount spam threads.
That and the moderators going through and locking them down ASAP.
Only the Stone Summit Dwarves in GW1 ever used mounts. The Dolyak Rider and the Beast Master.
The down side to your idea of mounts are as follows:
1 – Mounted players not putting coin towards the Waypoint gold sink and aiding inflation.
2 – Mounted players tend to become oblivious to their surroundings. Downed players will likely get ignored. I get upset enough when players run off and leave people down.
3 – Mounted players tend to “run” to zones they don’t belong in and leech.
4 – Mounted players use more resources on other players’ computers.
5 – Mounted players will likely cause more overflow problems in Lion’s Arch. During the Karka event a lot of players realized the zones also have a limit on how many skills of the same type can be activated at one time notably the Hounds of Balthazar skill.
Bonus Negative:
Many players that love mounts are jerks and LOVE to park their mounted butts on top of NPCs so no one can see nor read where the NPC is.
Adding the broom I see now was a bad idea.
We do not need mounts in this game.
I believe that was just a concept rendering.
I wish I could get it for my mesmer.
I don’t think this will happen since you all have pointed out why it isn’t here already.
“Inspecting”
ANet is avoiding any type of gear inspecting to curb elitism.
I dislike a mechanism that punishes the players who do stay alive. If you are alive and cannot rez the ones who are down and cannot take the mob down by yourself then you have to suicide to continue. If the system only punished the ones who died, then great. It punishes the ones alive more in my opinion. It grates on my nerves to have to suicide so the group can all rez.
This is to stop groups that skip mobs then expect everyone to rez at the WP and have to run the gauntlet alone to get back to the boss.
The elitist DEMANDED more emphasis on TEAMWORK…
They got what they asked for.
pre-downloading the new content is better – it wouldn’t be very fun to log in to see lots of broken stuff.
in GW1, i just altered the shortcut with a -image command. i don’t know if it works now.
I don’t know if it works with GW2 either. I do know if the update is huge I copy my gw2.dat file over to my laptop and my wife’s computer. Speeds up the update on those machines since it isn’t being re-downloaded and just being copied over the gigabit network here at home.
