As long as they get disabled in towns around the major NPCs and disabled around vendors of any sort, then I might not take too much issue with them.

The problem I always had with them was players AFKing with mounts right on NPCs and blocking other players from either getting to the NPCs or just bogging down FPS because of all the “busy-ness” caused by the mass amount of mounts in a given location.

Just to point this out…

Seeing the updated requirements is actually nice. I do hope that more of the graphics will go through my GPU instead of my CPU.

BUT, soon ANet will have no choice but jack up the requirements. Microsoft is playing a nasty game with everyone by putting out updates that cripple Win 7, 8, and 8.1 that are installed on “old” hardware and refusing to give those OSs support for the new Kaby Lake and Ryzen processors force users to Windows 10.

It’s already causing issues at work.

Linux support would be VERY appreciated with the crap Microsoft is pulling.

Their IT staff likely rotates weekly as to who is on call just in case stuff like this happens.

I didn’t have any issues loading into any map I tried, including an empty Guild Hall, with the exception of Dreamer’s Terrace. I guess either that site doesn’t include the pertinent information, or I don’t understand DDoS attacks (which is true…lol).

Regardless, the Team is on it. =)

That site is reporting the latency with the ping to the servers. The lower the number, the better. When the servers were DDoS attacked in the past, those numbers spiked in to the triple digits. So yes, I jumped straight to DDoS because the numbers were identical to past attacks. It may or may not be a DDoS, but I’m trained to remember history of patterns when it comes to networking.

It affects whatever servers are being attacked. In some cases, players won’t know through outright non loading of instances. They may see a little lag.

I noticed in Sparkfly Fen that I was getting some really bad lag and when I went to do a personal story instance, it just sat at the loading screen.

Then I hopped over to check the server status and saw triple digits. This isn’t the first rodeo for the GW2 servers being DDoS attacked.

Normally the ping is in the single digits on all servers.

Whenever they are dealing with a DDoS, the pings sit in the triple digits.

They are currently under a DDoS.

A vehement response like that might suggest that you are using one of these. But then again I do work in network security and that just makes you suspect in my eyes.

I’d be all for it for both Buying and Selling. Make it at random intervals too.

There is a skip button for the cinematics (not for the bivouac one though) and you can just start running to the next point and the dialog will skip to the next dialog when you get to the next point.

With how ANet has excluded all the small guilds from having Guild Halls, maybe they should do what Perfect World Entertainment does with their Guild Halls…

There are only X number of Guild Halls. Period.

Each one is different and the guild that currently owns (rents basically) one has to upkeep it EVERY DAY with an insane amount of gold. If you didn’t upkeep your “rent” your guild lost the hall and ALL the upgrades. If you wanted it back, you had to do it ALL over again.

Last I saw, Forsaken World had only 7 halls which meant only the 7 biggest guilds for each server had them.

We’ve only got 2 halls with a Mega Server. Let’s turn them into HUGE gold sinks and make the top 2 guilds pour tons of gold and mats into them. Even if ANet were to make it 2 halls per world, it would sink a ton of gold out of the economy.

Might even boost Gem sales since the biggest of the guilds would be willing to stoop low enough to make members break out their credit cards just to keep the hall or kick them from the guild.

Oh, the biggest guild that owned the most expensive Guild Hall in Forsaken World was named “Team VISA.” You know how they kept their Guild Hall.

No. The 64-bit client uses the same data as the 32-bit client. If you already have the game installed, you can follow these instructions to avoid needing to reinstall the game:

• Download the 64-bit client.
• Copy the downloaded program into your Guild Wars 2 game folder.
• Update any shortcuts to the game to point to the new file instead.
  This process will be automatic once we get out of beta.

I would like to remind you that 64bit versions Windows have two “Program Files” folders for a VERY specific reason.

C:\Program Files\ <—————— Programs run from here are run in 64bit
C:\Program Files (x86)\ <—— Programs run from here cause Windows to drop into 32bit

You just told everyone to run a 64bit client from the very same directory that causes Windows to work in 32bit.

Might I suggest that you set the 64bit beta client to do a fresh install to the “C:\Program Files\” folder then just have us advanced users (Desktop Support Tech right here) copy the gw2.dat to the 64bit installation.

You can avoid some bugs right there without having to hunt down the cause.

But what does map completion have to do with Tyria masteries?

In order to get mastery points, you have to complete certain jump puzzles.

Complete a map to get a huge chunk of Exp towards the Mastery Track.

To be honest, boosting the Mastery Tracks is where the Alt-oholics have an edge as long as all the alts have not finished World Completion. I’m doing it with HoT and the HoT story. Run each character through the story and get chunks of Exp towards the Mastery. Makes getting the higher tier Masteries go faster.

There was an interview with Colin that the GW2 facebook page shared where Colin pretty much summed it up that small guilds (less than 10 members) should use the Guild Initiative in Lion’s Arch and that Guild Halls are not meant for them.

So, all the small guilds (husband & wife, family, close IRL friend guilds) are shut out of Guild Halls by Colin’s Proclamation.

If they were trying to increase Bank and Bag Slot sales, they’d ditch the STACKABLE bags that tend to save inventory space and just give us direct loot drops.

The problem there is that Magic Find works on direct drop loot. Magic Find does not work on bags except for Silverwastes Bags.

They don’t want us to have nice things. Magic find can get to almost 1000% if your Account MF starts at 300% and you use the right utility (30%), food (30%), the MF booster (50%) , and the Birthday/Celebration Booster (100%).

Judging by my calculations, you can pull off 1521% Magic Find.

I think most of us would find them far more bearable if Magic Find worked on them.

Us oldest vets know that the bags were implemented to skirt Magic Find and to screw us over in such a way that ANet could say with a ***cough*** “clear conscience” ***cough*** that players were getting high rarity drops.

After all, 95% of all the bags I get are exotic rarity.

What Maxx said. LS2 gives the best experience from a story continuity point of view. It is not required. You can never play through the PS, LS1, LS2 and still play HoT without restriction.

Seems like this might cause a problem for folks who came in new and purchased HoT but did not get the other stories. I remember coming back in before the end of LS2 and used my extra gems to open that up for my main so I could finish it before HoT dropped.

But I don’t think that is an option for new folks with only the HoT purchase. So how will they get some of the “restricted” things if they can’t access the LS2?

Either convert gold to gems or buy gems and unlock LS2 in their story panel.

The Exotic version has all the blades just like the Ascended versions.

Make a glider skin based on the Exotic Spinal Blade pack that the Exotic and higher packs can get. One skin to cover all 4 and just make it dye-able. That way they don’t have to make 4 different glider skins.

First and foremost, my response was actually fueled by another discussion we had here about PCGamer, IGN, GameSpot, etc. and that certain sites would give a good review to those that pay for it (trick here is to pay for a “believable” positive review and 80-90 is believable) and that some of ANet’s blunders only got fix (or even acknowledged) AFTER one of those sites brought it to the front lines with a nasty negative review.

So my initial response was a jab from that discussion we had here.

As to something that was brought up…

Aging engine has surprisingly poor performance

Most of us vets KNOW that the game’s engine is old and poor performance. It is the same engine GW1 uses. It is only DX9 while we are in the age of DX11 and 12. It is ONLY x86 (32bit). And it pumps almost EVERYTHING through a single core including most of the graphics.

We’ve been asking for DX11 minimum. We’ve been asking for an x64 (64bit) client. We’ve been asking for better CPU optimization and to have more of the graphics pumped to our GPUs.

We tried to take the North Door earlier today and just about everyone wiped. And guess what, the WPs were contested and there were STILL players saying “WP if you’re dead” as if we’d be able to get back in time from the start of the zone. Most of us WPed back to the start of the zone and decided go about our business with a group of us headed back to VB to grind out Masteries and loot.

You only need the gw2.dat file.

I update my client more often than my wife, so I copy my gw2.dat to her PC about once a month so her client stays pretty up to date.

Plus going from my PC to hers is a WHOLE lot faster than updating from the net.

I main a Necromancer that is now a Reaper.

Now instead of a Terrormancer, She is more of a Banshee (Fear AND Chill does damage).

Swap between staff and greatsword. Love it!

We know good reviews are paid off.

I got it by using my Sylvari and taking the “Dig in” option instead of the “Rescue” option.

That’s a slight speed bump in the information superhighway, not a DDoS. Add an extra zero to the end of each number, and you’d be somewhat closer to the truth.

you do realise that there’s no set outcome to a DDoS right? usually the goal is to overload a server and bring it down, but if the DDoS doesn’t use enough requests, or if the server can handle the attack better than expected, then the end effect is reduced. so a poorly executed DDoS against a well prepared server could conceivably result in little more than a minor ping increase.

Thank you for showing us who has no life and should NOT be listened to. Players went to Guild Wars because of the laid back and enjoyable playing experience. Guild Wars worked VERY WELL for us gamers that have REAL LIVES and families. Guild Wars 2 for the most part continues that.

You are not “Gamers,” you are self absorbed children that never grew up and never had parents that taught you responsibility. Video games are NOT a career unless you are making them. Learn responsibility and get a job that actually requires you to commit to it. You know, the type of career that you can’t take days off whenever you feel like it. Then try playing video games.

250 points is an excellent middle ground. Characters that did World Completion before WvW was removed will have less to do, but Characters after the change will have more to do.

Except that alot of us have 9-10+ toons and will need to repeat this on every one we want the elite spec on.

Ironicially, I will be fully unlocking an elite I won’t even be using first (DH) because that is my main.

I agree that something needs done. This is slapping everyone who earned their Commander Tags in the face. IIRC, Mentors also get a boost for their group. THAT needs to go right now.

Try leading the labyrinth door hunt until a Mentor “Tags up” then the whole group disappears because the Mentor Tag on the map has more detail than our Commander Doritos.

I would throw out there that Mentors not get a tag unless they have a Commander’s Tag.

I don’t remember a L.O.X., but I do remember M.O.X., N.O.X., P.O.X., and R.O.X.

Actually, some of the FPS problems CAN be blamed on ANet. The graphics aren’t being sent straight to the GPU like other modern games. Most of GW2’s graphics go through the CPU with the rest of the game information.

And GW2 only uses a single CPU core according to the common complains about performance.

And yes, 400 Hero Points is just ludicrous.

You know, they have this feature since the 3-day headstart launch called “AoE Loot” that can be bound to a key.

I also have this mouse that is the Razer Naga Epic that has my whole number pad at my thumb. I know a lot (not all, but a lot) of players here use gaming mice like the Razer.

My “AoE Loot” is bound to the “-” key which is at my thumb. I press it after every kill out of reflex no matter whether I’m playing PvE, PS/LW instances, WvW, or PvP.

Players using gaming mice can set the “AoE Loot” to one of their extra mice buttons.

Why do we need an auto loot?

Considering that ANet had to change white critters to green in some areas AND we got roughly a complaint thread about the farm about once a week, I’d say the farmers are the ones to blame for the nerf.

Especially the rude farmers that hung out in Bloodtide Coast.
