Anyone who is extremely proficient in playing games on the Playstation and XBox will be able to out perform someone using a keyboard and mouse while they are using a well mapped out controller. Especially someone proficient in playing RPGs with those controllers and are well adapted to pressing multiple buttons for an action.

As I also stated, I have experience with it and I am pointing out that there is a marked difference in response speed.

Until you get your head handed to you in PvP by someone using a controller, you won’t cry foul.

I’m at least being honest and pointing out that there is a distinct advantage that is over looked, Response Time.

It would be nice if the game would remember my window sizes.

The inventory UI is just fine as is.

It is a pain for thieves though since they have skills that require no offhand weapons.

While you may not be violating the “1 button = multiple actions” rule, some WILL feel that you are in possession of an unfair advantage since you are using a control interface that was not intended for this game. This is why you have to use 3rd party software to map the keys to your buttons.

If a controller were to be properly blessed and not seen as an unfair advantage, ANet should add proper controller support that will allow controller mapping without the need for 3rd party software.

Having played both the PC and PS3 versions of Sacred 2 (Since you are using a PS4 controller that is the same layout as the PS3), I can and will attest that a controller WILL give an unfair advantage in response time AND character control that could rival AND possibly out perform macros that violate the “1 button = multiple actions” rule.

So, I’d ask that you not use your controller during any type of PvP/WvW until ANet can properly evaluate the pros and cons of a controller beyond the current “1 button = multiple actions” rule.

I remember a group of us succeeding that event then running to the other end and succeeding in that event. Then we’d run to the other end, clean our bags, sell junk, post up on the trade post and then do it all over again.

That wasn’t fast enough?

Then again, is this where the QD Champ Train went to? If it is as toxic as it sounds, I’m willing to bet Gems that it is the remnants of the toxic element of the QD Champ Train.

I will have you know that my wife had around 6,000 badges of honor and she never played WvW. We’ve both been playing since the three day head start and that is how many she had before I took her elementalist in to EotM to work on her monthlies while she is in school.

Maybe it should be 3,000 gold AND 10,000 badges of honor so it is well understood that they know what they are doing. Or should we up the badges to 100,000?

I know that something needs to be done to remove it from being a status symbol and make it a Mark of Competency.

Well, GW1 had the same thing. I think it is based on that. All Ranger armor was based on trench coats.

There was far more variation in GW1 for rangers. In prophecies it was pretty equal for males with 3 out of 11 sets being trench coat-like, 4 being more like tights with no buttcape and nothing covering the front, and the other 4 sets having the infamous buttcape. With the expansions, trench coats actually became less and less common. Lets not forget obsidian armor – the “endgame” prestige armor – that has no coat or buttcape to speak of, and it looks awesome! I really wish there was something like that for males in GW2.

I am also a ranger in GW1 and don’t have a trench/pirate/skirt as a medium armor male, there are so many more choices of armor in GW1 than in GW2. I find the GW1 armors for all classes far superior to that of GW2.

After counting the Ranger armors in GW1, there are only 10 trench coats in total. 7 male and 3 female.

We need ALL the GW1 armors brought in and added to GW2.

My issue with them is that they are account bound PvP only items that can be purchased for in-game gold by players that WILL use them. There is no reason for them to be there. Had the item still been a Gem Store only item then I’d have a different opinion on them.

The essence of lucks below the legendary 500 luck should be removed too since we can easily obtain blue 50 luck essences and turn them into the exotic 200 luck essences.

I’d keep the scrolls of knowledge in them though, they are nice to come across.

Why are Custom Arena Tokens still in Black Lion Chests?

They are no longer a Gem Store item and can be purchased for 2 gold by players who will use them.

I have no use for them and frankly they are the only item I have ever gotten that I have to destroy to remove them from my inventory. I have found a use for everything else I have ever gotten from the BLCs.

Put the Permanent Hair Stylist Contract in its place for all I care, just take these tokens out.

I run a staff Elementalist using only the fire attunement and get those speeds. Matter of fact I get my key in about 15 min not counting character creation. I’m hitting level 5 after finishing the level 10 PS.

I also have the following:

Profane armor set from the DD upgrade (Full level 0 set) with power and toughness runes
Level 0 Mighty Staff with sigil of Blood and sigil of Earth
Banker Golem
Hero’s Band

Wife does it with a ranger using the same runes and sigils except she has the Krytan armor from her DD upgrade and a level 0 Long Bow. She does it in the same amount of time and finishes with the same level as I do.

We got that fast because we’d race each other to the key.

You want marriage, go to another MMO.

Forsaken World lets you marry and divorce, but eventually the divorce papers fill your inventory. The only way to get rid of them is to delete the character.

It’s just honest advice. MMORPG has ‘massively multiplayer’ in it for a reason, and its not just so we can stand around in towns and gab. I think its perfectly reasonable to expect that by the time someone is at this stage of the living story, that they have a few friends, and a guild whom can help them out. Heck; its not even that hard to join a guild, there are so many recruiting and many will bend over backwards for you just to get you to join them.

You do realize that the Guild Wars franchise is supported by the casual gamer that likes to have the Multiplayer option, but normally plays solo due to real life. Not everyone is here to make friends and join guilds.

Enough of that part of the argument though.

You OBVIOUSLY missed what the biggest deal WILL be later on. Paying REAL MONEY to unlock the Living Story parts well after they are over and getting blocked by a World Group Event that can’t be done because no one else wants to do it anymore. Or worse, players “Sell” their groups just like players “Sell” Arah including “Victory or Death” which will in turn upset someone who paid a lot of money for content that can not be played.

How much does that price tag have to be for it to sink in? Make it 20 Living Story chapters and you got roughly the same price tag as an expansion ($50) that you get stopped at the third chapter. That is 85% of roughly an expansion that you paid for that you can’t play.

I have 10 characters WAITING for Arah. And yes I’m upset that I paid for this game to have the last part of the main story gated by a dungeon that gets sold by players which ANet refuses to ban. But if I were to miss $25-$50 worth of Living Story and get stuck 3 chapters in because it can’t be solo’d since no one wants to do it anymore, I’d be FURIOUS!!!

Let’s put it in different terms…

You buy GW2 about 6 months to a year from now.

You break out the credit card and get yourself 2000 Gems ($25) and unlock 10 chapters of Living Story Season 2.

Chapters 1 and 2 are ok since those chapters can be completely solo’d.

Now you are on Chapter 3 and you have to do Open World Group Event stuff to progress any further.

NOBODY is playing LS: S2: C3 and trolls just pop up and scale up the events.

You spend another 6 months STUCK on this part.

You paid for Chapters 1 through 10 and you can’t get past chapter 3 because it is Open World Group instead of instanced for solo play.

It is like buying an expansion and getting 20% of the expansion done and not being able to see the rest of what you bought because you NEED other players to help you and they are playing the rest of the game elsewhere. Most likely champ farming in Frostgorge Sound, Kessex Hills, or Edge of the Mists. Or just farming Cursed Shore.

Now you tell me that won’t leave a bad taste in your mouth. Remember, for this example you PAID for the content instead of grinding out the gold to convert to gems and obviously you didn’t log in during the FREE time since you just bought the game AFTER Living Story Season 2 ended.

In dungeons, dead players can not WP until either the party wipes or the party kills the mob. At that point it is better to party rez the dead player so the party can continue without having to wait for the player to catch back up.

In open world, I don’t care if you are down or dead, I’m gonna try to rez you since that is what the game intended. If you WP I’m not going to complain, but you will never see me tell you to WP if you are dead.

On that note, if I’ve been dealing the the “Rez if you are dead” crowd being abusive to other players, come the next time Reviver is on the dailies I will WP just as someone starts rezzing me to take it away from them. I’m tired of the only time that crowd wants to actually help is when reviver is on the list.

The only things I’ve noticed that are profession/race specific in LS S2 is at the end of part 1 if you talk to Taimi with an Asuran about the Steam Minotaur head, you get a better explanation as to the “Flaws” of the steam creature.

In part 2, there is a book in the tunnel that all the professions just get the “ignore it” response while the Engineer gets the “read from an engineer’s point of view” response and you get more out of interacting with that item.

Funny thing though is that my Asuran IS my Engineer.

I reported the Majory/Kasmeer bug as both in game bug report and I let one of the devs know in game.

As to Soloing this horrible boss battle…

I’ve played this with every profession and found that it is hardest to solo with an Elementalist along with a SB/DD Thief coming in second. I had to find help for the boss fight with those two. I tried to solo with these two until my armor was broken before I got help.

As to the other professions:

My Necromancers were able to do the job quickly. One is set up as a Carrion Terrormancer and the other is set up as a Celestial Terrormancer. Marks and Wells worked great. They went down at least once, but didn’t die.

My Mesmer, Warrior, Double Pistol Thief, and Guardian were able to solo the boss with only one death each.

My Ranger and Engineer were able to do this without dying nor going down.

The Engineer did the fight the fastest out of all of my characters. Ran healing, rifle, rocket, and net turrets along with the supply crate elite and spec’d out for juiced turrets and extra supplies.

This sounds like PWE’s “Forsaken World.”

OP, go play that game and get your “fix” since it has basically EVERYTHING you just suggested.

I just don’t think it has the housing you want.

I seriously don’t think we killed Abbadon and who ever said that we’re being trolled by Abbadon in Kormir’s body is probably right.

If you guys are talking the Vet Golem MkI, that retaliation does not get stripped when you do boon stripping.

I fought him enough times with each profession and found that my builds with insanely high healing were able to take him down without even going down. That would be my Healing Necromancer and my Guardian.

My Terrormancer has boon corruption and stripping and it still had retaliation through out the whole fight. I believe I reported it as a bug since it wasn’t listed on its bar.

As far as I understand, Celestial Gear (armor and weapons) are account bound just like the Charged Crystals.

If there is nothing that takes Charged Crystals that can be sold, then the “1 per day” limit should go.

Just in armor, if you want 12 sets of Celestial armor, that is a year to outfit 12 characters.

Really? So wanting the people who tag die when the boss is at more than 50% health and just lay there dead when the boss health doesn’t scale back down and don’t waypoint away aren’t griefing? When they die in an area that is unsafe for players to run in to rez them… Yes, we realize this won’t scale the boss down, but maybe enough times of them not getting credit for the event will encourage them to just go ahead and waypoint.

No one will be able to change my stance on this no matter how you justify and conceal your elitism.

True Monks were left out and ALL classes given the ability to resurrect fallen players in order to promote Team Work. This is part of the intended game play. Any players that demand that dead players use a waypoint are being elitist and are guilty of Griefing those dead players. There is a reason why the nearest waypoint becomes contested:

ANET DOES NOT WANT YOU WAYPOINT ZERGING MAJOR EVENTS!

If they intended for events to be played out the way all you want it done, waypoints would NEVER be contested.

The only time I see world boss events not screaming for people to waypoint when they are dead is when “Reviver” is on the daily list.

They should either treat these major events like dungeons and prevent waypointing until everyone wipes OR just make ALL waypoints on the event map contested requiring having to waypoint to a different map. Then watch all the players that Grief dead players lose out on their precious rewards because no one would rezz them and they had to leave the map to be rezzed. Especially as the group drops down to almost no one left at the event because no one would revive dead players.

Yes, there is a difference to Razer Naga Epic. the 2014’s keys are mechanical, and they’re made from rigid plastic, not some mushy soft plastic stuff that the Epic has. Much faster reaction time, for much faster rotation, and much more DPS.

Have you ever played Sacred 2 on the PC then on a console (PS3)?

MMOs belong on PCs.

Just like flight simulators and mech simulators belong on the PC instead of on a console.

Soulbound equipment is GW2’s version of GW1’s “customized” equipment.

It would be nice if weapons got the 20% damage increase that “customizing” gave you in GW1.

Over all though, each piece of equipment including basic, fine, ascended, and legendary should be soulbound on the basis that:

Armor - If it fits an Asuran, how would it fit a Norn or Charr without having to be remade? <= Simplest example EVER.

Weapon - For a weapon to be effectively used it needs to be designed for the user to use comfortably and effectively. Example: A sword for an Asuran is a dagger for just about everyone else while a greatsword for a Norn would be FREAKING HUGE to an Asuran.

More examples:
I can not use my wife’s rifle effectively nor safely since it was made for her and is more like a child’s toy in my hands.

Let’s use bows this time since there is A LOT that goes into a bow than the majority of gamers ever realize.

My father and I can use each others bows, but if we want to hunt with them, they both need the sights adjusted and I have to remove my father’s counter weights and his trigger adapter from his bow while my father would have to change the rest, remove the finger cushions and install a trigger adapter, and add counter weights to my bow. Our draw weights are within 5 pounds of each other, so that is negligible and is more a comfort difference between us.

If I add my wife’s bow to the mix, her bow’s draw weight needs to be increased drastically or my father and I run the risk of damaging her bow. Plus our draw weights have to be lowered for her to use ours which even the lowest ours can safely go to is still too much for her to pull. Any lower and there is the chance that the tension bolts will strip out (due to too few threads being threaded) causing the bow to shatter.

That isn’t even taking into account that the draw length for all three of us is different which means only my father and I can even use each others bows since we are only about 1 to 1.5 inch different in draw length. My wife and I are about 5 to 6 inches different in draw length.

Conclusion
All-in-all, be grateful that Basic and Fine don’t get bound what so ever (unless transmuted) and DEFINITELY be grateful that Ascended and Legendary are Account Bound.

First and foremost, GW2’s graphics were done in DX9 because of Windows XP users. More specifically, 32-bit Windows XP.

Now that Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, A-Net “could” overhaul the whole game and bring it inline with Windows 7 and 8.

Will they? I have no idea.

First things first, your “friend” may have bought gold from a gold seller thus leading to the compromising of the account. Stop buying gold from gold sellers.

Second, use a secure password with at least 12 characters.

Third, make sure your email password and your account password are different.

Fourth, use either the mobile device security code or the email IP notification.

Lastly, in order to implement a pin system, they have to allow for resetting of the pin in case it is forgotten. A patient hacker can just change the account password and reset the pin then wait the time for the pin to reset (IIRC usually 24-48 hours).

Myself and others use our commander tags when we’re keeping our guild and/or server together.

Easy solution there, Guild Member tags. Make those free upon joining a guild and only other members of the same guild can see the tag.

Every month, all tags are refunded by the game and 100 gold goes into the person’s bank. If you want to get your tag back you have to go to one NPC located in Orr and speak to him. After a while, only the people most determined to have a tag will keep getting it, others will give up or forget.

Nah, put the commander tag vendor in Fort Vandal and make players have to take down all the level 80 champs while at the Vandal’s Claim level scaling. If they really want that tag for PvE, they’ll figure it out.

For WvW though, use your idea, but make it only useable in WvW.

The commander tag should just stay in WvW.

Every time I see tags up in PvE, the map chat is filled with profanity laced insults and bickering while they try to figure out who is the “main” commander.

It just degrades into an ego contest.

I honestly believe those that want permadeath are those that play the TP.

Think of how much gold they would make if everyone had to start all over from level 1 when they die. Need supplies to craft your way back to 80. Need weapons and armor at least for level 80 once you get there. Et cetera, et cetera.

The worst death penalty in GW2 is exclusion. You will likely get booted from Fractals/dungeons if you die too often.

Your comparison with the Bonus Mission Pack is a bit lame…

Since my wife’s Trilogy copy of GW1 came with the BMP, M.O.X. and EotN.

Simple answer as to why that troll was a PITA…

It got scaled up by passing players before you got to it.

Nothing scales back down after it gets scaled up. If someone tries to solo a champ when it pops and they die, sometimes the player abandons it. now imagine 30 players doing this while not knowing that someone else tried soloing it and it just gets harder and harder to solo.

You just get a champ that has been scaled to 30-50 players and it likely will take about 20+ players to take it down so it can respawn back to its normal champ scaling before a bunch of players try to solo and abandon it. Or when 100+ players over the course of time just run by it and scale it up.

Now I want this player to announce that in chat where I’m at with my main…

It will be time to grab your popcorn and I’ll have to put a seat belt on my wife’s computer chair.

The last time I encountered someone like this in GW1, I had my buddy and his girlfriend rolling around laughing so hard that they fell off the couch.

But they have to announce this while I’m on my main since she has the needed attitude to pull it off. Nothing bannable, just outright funny.

Maybe you all have been reported for spam during the event and the “gag order” goes out anytime you are in the event.

Not everyone wants to turn off their map chat to shut the commanders up. Especially when the commanders start arguing.

After looking over the armor, everyone that says there is too much skimpy armor is obviously wrong since 11 out of 43 (I’m not counting the Tribal Armor since PvE can not get it nor could PvE ever get it.) total Human light armors are skimpy. That looks like the skimpy armors are the minority.

It would be nice to have an even number of skimpy and non-skimpy armor for both genders and all races.

More skimpy armor please.

And LESS Trench Coats for medium armor. Have you guys ever heard of Bomber Jackets if you insist on making medium armor have jackets.

I missed most of LS 1 because I had to leave for 7-8 months. My wife and I have been here since the 3 day head start.

I left 3 days after the Super Adventure Box debuted and got back in time for Winter’s Day 2013. My wife only did my dailies and monthlies for me while I was gone because that is all I asked her to do.

You want to block off the LS gear, then block it off for accounts made AFTER LS 1 ended. Don’t punish those of us that have this thing called a Real Life that demands our attention. Maybe you should be with the rest of us that want Permanent Content (expansion) instead of Temporary Content. Though that would ruin ALL of your prestige.

What you advocate is more of a “I can sit at my PC for weeks on end” bragging right which makes you look like you have no real life.

Right now we’re just grabbing skins we missed. Some things are just getting trashed once the skin is unlocked.

At the end of the day, it is JUST A GAME. Get over it.
And never forget, Money talks louder and clearer than petty achievements.

For some reason I recall a news story about a guy that committed suicide when his character died because he had to start all over again and that is why most MMOs don’t have that setup. At least not from the initial start. I’ve heard of it being an unlockable mode though.

But seeing as how this is an honor system challenge, I’d at least keep up with it here at the forums.

The word ‘bard’ is Celtic, and they were were warrior poets and the greatest and oldest heroes of celtic mythology. Read stories like Finn McCool (yes that’s a real Irish name), or the epic of Cuchulainn, who is a bard himself and has several bardic companions throughout the story, including two female rival companions Scathach and Aife.

I would love to see a bard class that is actually a bard. I would not love to see another BS D&D ‘we don’t do our research’ minstrel class that is mislabeled as a bard.

1: We already have this and they wear medium armor. Adjust your traits and skills on a Ranger.

2: Why??? Only if the AI was modified to attack Bards first. Standard tactic was to kill the drummer boy first to throw off the other army’s morale and cadence.

3: Again, we already have this. Adjust your traits and skills on a Necromancer.

4: Maybe, but I’m with the others in that ANet needs to fix the pet/minion AI first.

5: You do know that a Doppelganger is a type of ghost/spirit? Other than that you are asking for Animorphs. Let’s go Harry Potter-ish and call them Animagus. We already have this in the Norn and during certain events.

6: Did you mean parries? Anyway, we already have this. Adjust your traits and skills on a Thief with dual daggers.

7: A warlock would be what you got by smashing the Elementalist, Mesmer, and Necromancer together and only using the pure offensive skills from each profession. Might be neat, but would become Zerker OP pretty fast.

8: Already have this. Use a Warrior Zerker build.

9: Aside from the heavier armor, adjust your traits and skills to use a defensive Earth build on an Elementalist.
