Is say SF isn’t ‘dead’ as much as it lacks dedicated WvW guilds leading the charge day in and day out, spamming for people to get into voice comms, training players up to become good PvPers, helping people get appropriate gear etc.
During my visits to T8, I found a LOT of players during NA prime, but all very scattered and directionless. Not my kind of play style I’m afraid.
Looking for more backline players! Contact me ingame today!

What server are you on and what time do you usually play?
Change to: 1 guard, 1 warrior, 1 mesmer, 1 thief and then 1 extra. You need more healing in your group. Maybe a good D/D ele can fill that role but an engi can do well too.
You need a healthy mix of bunker and dps roles in a small group with enough sustain to pick up your downed players and enough escape to get away when things go south

Play a shout heal warrior or AH guardian with cleric gear then
What’s the different between having a commander pull sniper and having periphery/gank quad? If the tag doesn’t have stab uptime for this to happen in big blobby messes (seriously how do they not have stability with so many people?) then they will get whats coming to them. Maybe they will learn to use boons to counter crowd control one day.
My necro corrupt boon says you can’t have stability
Deal with it.
I actually started using the pink tag cause it’s the least used tag and I could stand out with it and have people follow the right tag, since we have troll tags all the time.
In other news, still desperately looking for an active staff ele or two as well as a necro to join the guild
4. It’ll help T3 and under out with an influx of new players into WvW
being in T3, i think that you are wrong in this regard.
I’m curious as to why you would think this? Every season we’ve had, we get a huge surge of WvW activity. It’s a great opportunity to recruit and train pugs for WvW
How exactly announcing seasons would help with anything?
1. It’ll help T1 out with the stale matchups
2. It’ll help T2 out by effectively locking out T2 and T3 and removing the current situation extremely effectively
3. It’ll help T3 out as the server that gets knocked down destacks as guilds transfer back up
4. It’ll help T3 and under out with an influx of new players into WvW
In essence, if season 3 can be replicated but without achievements that can be done in 5 minutes in EoTM, it would help out a lot of servers right now
Announce season 4 already ANet! That will sort out a lot of things wrong with Gold tier NA very very quickly, for Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3!.
As much as I hate seasons, I think for the current situation, it’ll help more than hinder!
This would do it, 1 t2 server would most likely implode. Hopefully it will be a 6 week season. 8 and 9 was too long, but 4 was too short.
Unlikely. The season tournaments would bring out queues in Silver for the T2.5 server (whichever it may be) to fight. Think back when FA got shafted in Silver. That means less chance for which ever server that may be, to implode. It could very well be the saving grace for WvW right now for 3, maybe 4 tiers.

Me? Bust zergs? I’m #1 karma train commander OCX!
Quite frankly, a new player stepping into WvW in a Bronze tier server outside of the 3 hours of NA prime will probably never come back to WvW again.
You need activity to breed activity
More T1 comments about “bronze iz ded”.
We’ve been getting new people trickling into WvW on their own for months now, at all times. And they stick – guess they must like the solitude eh?
Way to edit my post to suit your agenda. I’ve been down in T8. Outside of NA prime, you could literally be the only person on your home borderland, or maybe form a single party on EBG. There’s some exceptions (KN…) but that’s how T8 tends to be, when Americans are sleeping. T8 isn’t dead for NA prime, but it certainly is at all other times of the day
Duo roaming with an Ele isn’t so bad nor is with 2 Eles in a group of 3 (apart from, if one of them is a noob), they can sustain and still output decent DPS – while the Thief can burst down targets quickly.
An engineer can output similar sustain to a D/D ele, just with less condition clears, but with a lot more direct damage and condition pressure from nade, elixir and tool kit (the usual kits to take for roaming).
In sPvP, the self healing elementalist. kitten hard to take down without a LOT of burst damage.
In WvW, either LB ranger or tool kit engi. The commander sniping is real yo
In PvE, it’s LB rangers spamming their point black shot. So annoying
If you are having trouble getting certain achievements, perhaps you need to adjust your gear and build and approach it from another direction. All the achievements in the Living Story chapters are very achievable, if not a sometimes a little frustrating due to bad luck (lag spike here, missed timing there, happens).

This is my build at the moment. I’m using exotic berserker armor and weapons, I have an exotic backpack (vitality, toughness, healing) and I’m using ascended trinkets I got from season 2; ranging from power/precision/condition/vitality (I think). Any tips/advice would be great, thanks.
You’re using a condition skill/utility setup with zerker weapons. Switch to rifle. Save up for berserker ascended trinkets (not too difficult these days with increased laurels). If berserker isn’t working for you, start substituting in Valkyrie or Knights gear in. In a lot of these new living story instances, there’s no real reason to be full berserker except to complete them faster. In quite a few circumstances, you’d want more bunker stats to complete some of the achievements easier.
I’d say either the ranger or the engi would be the strongest in a duo situation, while the shatter mesmer be the strongest in a solo situation.
D/D elementalist got slightly nerfed so it’s not as strong as the other builds you’ve mentioned for roaming.
As a WvW commander… My siege alone takes up a ton of slots. Base siege and the superior version of it. I then carry a separate set of gear for when I want to roam and do rather than be tanky as hell to command, along with a second set of weapons to go with it. Then I need to carry food/oil buffs. After taking along a few tonics, keeping (less than) a stack of t5 leather, mithril and elder wood (I bank or TP them when I get 250 in the stack) to keep my inventory tidy (my collections is always full of them).
In the end, I carry 60-70 items regularly. I could probably bank all my tonics, but I like having my tonics around…
EotM was not asked for. What was asked for was another WvW map.
The funny thing about the EOTM map now is that originally it was brought in as a queue map, but thanks to the neglect WvW has received, so so many players have stopped playing that the only ones who get big queues are T1 and server who cna only win by running in one big zerg!
The original use for EOTM is no longer required; until the release of HOT of course, but then depending on how good or how bad they have finally updated WvW, it may not last long.
If you’ve seen some of the queues the top 6 servers gets, with the exception of Jade Quarry, you’ll see that EoTM is still very much needed as a waiting room. Obsidian sanctum simply isn’t entertaining enough while waiting for queue :x
I’m staying with Pink. Pink is my colour.
Haters gonna hate.
Quite frankly, a new player stepping into WvW in a Bronze tier server outside of the 3 hours of NA prime will probably never come back to WvW again (probably just as a new player stepping into T1 or T2 during prime time, sees the zergs and gets scared away forever). You need activity to breed activity and more activity is almost always better than less activity. Your suggestion has a bit of sense to it though and I’m not 100% opposed BUT. WvW is a coverage driven game mode if you’re aiming to play the PPT game. Simply population limits aren’t the answer exactly. There’s no cure for coverage except MORE population.
All of those stuff were asked for but implemented poorly.
EoTM as a place to hang around while in a queue is fine, but it’s a joke of a map. Pretty but useless to actually play WvW in.
Yeah, the way the game looks at how a server is filled needs to be changed. It’s so frustrating trying to get friends onto my server due to its Full status, especially with so many of them interested in the game now that an expansion has been announced. If Blackgate is legit full, then so be it, but it’s still frustrating as hell :x
I would say GW2 is pretty safe for the foreseeable future. Large fanbase all around the world, decent profit and turnover, and NCSoft having nothing else this successful on the Western market right now (Lineage I and II in Korea is their cash cow) would make that even more so the case.
Let’s see what NCSoft does with Blade and Soul.
Group of 5 flipping camps in WvW. Each time you kill the camp Veteran Supervisor you get 3-5 empyreal fragments (it got nerfed cause the drop rate used to be insane).
After you’ve done your dungeons, I would say WvW would be faster than Silverwastes, especially if you’re in a middle tier with enough activity for people to be flipping camps behind you but not be defending the camps in front of you. Since there’s a total of 24 camps, that’s plenty of legit farming if you want to go for it.
WvW completion is hella easy to get if you’re on a T4 server or lower.
If you’re in a decent sized active guild, get your guildies and just karma train the maps for any points that anyone needs. You guys could make it a weekly or monthly event (-cough- GSCH -cough-).
If you’re not in a decent sized guild, join a WvW guild. You have 5 guild slots. You can join a different guild for different facets of the game (dungeon guild, world boss guild, wvw guild, pvp guild and bank guild for all round enjoyment of the game). If you’re in a 100% rep guild, you’re really missing out.
I’d recommend a scepter/focus (or torch) and staff guardian. Very forgiving, moderately decent DPS (enough for pugging) and has very high support and bunker capabilities..
Fair enough. Good luck with this poll.
Welcome to the world of MMOs. Where I came from, it took 15-20 hours to raise your level up once, being punished severely if you die by losing a ton of exp and/or your gear. Crafting was a luxury and most casual players got their gear from mob loot.
Guild Wars 2 is so casual friendly in every department (except the crafting UI, yeah, it’s horrible) that for a veteran MMORPG player, it’s TOO easy.
Personally, I’ve completely given up on PvE and have put my focus on WvW and sPvP as they are the “hardcore” endgame content in this game.
In other games, I would simply sit down, dedicate 3-5 hours and repeatedly whack away at mobs in an attempt to farm currency and exp, or spend an hour or so preparing for a raid that took 20 minutes to complete due to the “Trinity” system. There’s none of that in Guild Wars 2 and it’s extremely EXTREMELY lenient on players making mistakes due to its casual nature (it’s very easy to solo 5 man instanced content because of how faceroll-easy dungeons are).
If you are having trouble getting certain achievements, perhaps you need to adjust your gear and build and approach it from another direction. All the achievements in the Living Story chapters are very achievable, if not a sometimes a little frustrating due to bad luck (lag spike here, missed timing there, happens).
Your definitions of guild sizes are a bit weird. I’d say anything below 50 is a small guild, as you won’t get more than 10-15 people online at a time unless you’re an extremely focused/hardcore guild. If you’re a casual guild, good luck getting even 5 online at a time.
I.E. my guild Faerie Law has a roster of 45, but around 15-20 active and can manage at most 10 online at a time consistently during our prime time WvW raids (usually 5-7, cycling through the 15-20 active players as they log in and log out). That’s not a lot of numbers and can’t be considered a “large” guild.
Well, I did ask for active members… not roster size.
I also explain my logic in guild sizes earlier in this post.
Ideally, a more comprehensive poll which polls for active players, primetime numbers, number of guildies who actually play together, etc would be nice. In essence, I am trying to get a feel for the capabilities of the guild which people are members of. A 100 member guild which only ever has 10-20 people playing together at a time is really only a 10-20 person guild.
But then what about international guilds? Multi-guild communities (TTS and the likes) that have 200-300 players online 24/7? Or maybe even 100 man guilds that have 10-15 online through the entire day? How can you measure that activity?

A self healing D/D elementalist is nearly unkillable in PvP. Healing power is quite OP
Resetting glicko would result in matchups similar to the AA vs TA vs 3rd wheel type matchups we had at the start of the game. It took so long to stabilise and I’m sure no one wants those matchups ever again.
Please play some PvP or WvW before coming in here saying healing is too OP.

To those complaining about approaching rangers with warrior. If you got issues approaching ranger with a warrior you, as a player, has legitimate issues in the skill deparment.
Sure it may not be the “mainstream” choice of weapons, but you can by just getting a shield offhand or mace mainhand and ONE TRAIT shut down every ranged class in the game short of mesmer (cuz mes GS isnt projectile).Mace mainhand, sword offhand or shield offhand with missile deflection completely shuts down lich necros, bow rangers (both condi and power), rifle warriors, Pistol thiefs and rifle engies.
Ill present you with a build that just wrecks ranged campers, and it still does tremendous damage to nabs who had no clue how to fight you.
That’s true, but specifically building for a single build on a single class? Also, any ranger will see you raise your shield and back up with a PBS ready to aim at your face. It’s very difficult to close the gap on any half decent LB ranger, especially if they have a GS as their other weapon.
Hey Robbo, FL is a pretty small guild with a focus on WvW. Hit me up ingame during Aussie evenings
