Geez, you make a lot of these “Whyyyy?” posts.

I can’t post a screen right now, but there is definitely a bug with the racial collections (I don’t know about the Emperor’s). I generally go and buy some medium cultural armor in WvW when the Big Spender daily is up, and even though I have the skin unlocked, some (but not all) T1 medium chests do not count for the achievement.
You probably got that T1 chest as a level 20 (I think) Personal Story reward. It unlocks the skin, but it doesn’t count for the achievement.
Than it is bugged, the AP doesn’t say the method of acquiring the skin.
It’s not bugged; it’s worded badly. You’re meant to buy the armor pieces with gold (or, as of recently, badges of honor + gold).

In my opinion staff would probably be the most effectively used of the three you listed, followed by GS and then 1h sword. I use staff as a main part of my ele playing, as a ranged option on my necro, for farming on my guardian, and as my second set on my revenant. Staff is also used by ranger with the druid elite spec, as well as for the thief daredevil elite spec.
As for 1h sword, I really only use this regularly on my mesmer (both as main hand and offhand), ranger, revenant, and sometimes on my thief.
No, you can’t change the stats on an exotic in the forge. And to make Marauder armor you need to buy the recipe for the insignia from the crafting NPC and then just craft it like you would a normal exotic armor piece.
It’s honestly not conveyed very well on the achievement menu.
I definitely agree there. It’s pretty vague, and when it’s involving something as expensive as these skins it’s a bad thing.
Yeah, you’d have to either do it on a character that has already completed the chapter or do the chapter on your currently-played character (and then repeat it for achievements). There are a few that will trigger without doing a first play-through, but those are anomalies.
You have to play through the chapter on a character before you can attempt the achievements on that same character. So, if you haven’t already played through the story on that character, you won’t be able to do the achievements until you play through it.
Yeah, a dodge roll is always what breaks me out of the lock, but there always seems to be a period of time (5 seconds, maybe more) where nothing will work.
Yeah, I’ve noticed this happening more and more for me in PvE, and it’s always after a dodge roll. I haven’t paid attention enough to see if I’m doing something like activating a skill at the same time as the roll, but it could be something like that. Regardless, it can easily make a fight go badly if you’re suddenly unable to move.
I bought pretty much all of the pieces I needed on one character for each race, and I never had the problem you think is happening.
Are you buying six unique pieces from each of the three tiers? By this I mean buying one each of shoes, legs, gloves, chest, shoulders, and helm from each tier for each race? That is how you finish the achievement. Buying multiple pieces of the same type from the same tier (ie. a set of t2 medium shoulders and a set of light shoulders) will not count towards the achievement twice; you’d only get credit for the first piece you bought.
Edit: Just a bit of proof that you can get it by buying it on one character. I just bought charr t1 light coat on my charr ranger (on my second account) just now, and it unlocked for the achievement.

I enjoy teasers, but this most recent one was pretty forgettable.
I don’t know 100%, but I think it would still work. I believe that if you put a transmuted item in the forge, it will have a note on the item saying “This item will be forged as the original item” (something along those lines), which means the forge would treat the item like it was the beta fractal capacitor.
A glance at your post history shows that pretty much every post you’ve made over the past 6 months is a link to a video you’ve posted on youtube. So, you do self-promote pretty hard. You’re completely free to do that, though. I just won’t personally contribute to the viewer count.
So, you don’t know how gear works in spvp vs. pve. Might want to figure that out before complaining about nothing.
I enjoyed reading your post, and I agree that some people need an attitude adjustment. But I’m not going to watch your video because I’m petty and don’t like self-promotion disguised as a topic for discussion.
I’m now sort of wondering where the “guild” and “wars” comes from in “Guild Wars”… After all, it feels like the game, while being an MMO with plenty of gaming options, is more focused around the personal and living story, with WvW (the only real time you can have guilds fighting against each other) being an option for competitive players. But even then, doesn’t feel like a “war”. And there are no guilds in the story at war with each other. I only see factions, not guilds, and they are at war with the dragons and their minions. So…yeah, confused.
Never played the original Guild Wars, so how accurate to the title was that game?
What EW said above, basically. In GW1 lore there were Guilds that were groups brought together with a common purpose, and THE Guild Wars were basically different skirmishes throughout Tyrian history that affected said history. Guild Wars 1 also had player guilds, which served the traditional purpose of guilds in games, plus having guild pvp stuffs.
(edited by RoseofGilead.8907)
- No guilds : There don’t seem to be a lot of guilds in Guild Wars! WoW seemed to have more guilds that were larger and better established.
I’ve been in a guild for a few years now. I see dozens of guild recruitment messages every day. There are even some guilds that started out in GW1 and continued into GW2. Guilds are there if you actually are looking.
- No socializing : Maybe I’m jaded but back in the day, say 2007 in WoW, I seem to meet people (in fact still in touch with some) and interact. In GW2 I am only interacting with my real life friend who plays. I don’t see a lot of chatting either.
That’s not been my experience. I interact with lots of people (guildies and strangers, alike) every day just by doing my daily achievements and Fractals/dungeon runs. Sometimes things are quiet in map chat, but sometimes they’re not. Plus, you also have guild chat (if you’re in a guild) and party chat/squad chat for your group content.
- No wars : Well there is WvWvW but that seems like a lot of map and not a lot of activity. Granted I haven’t spent a lot of time there and I know there is a lot of potential but I don’t get that epic feeling of a large battle.
Your wvw experience will vary depending on your server size and the amount of players in your time zone. But, as you said, you haven’t spent a lot of time there to really get a feel for it. Maybe give it a few more goes; Eternal Battlegrounds is usually the most active map for wvw action.
- No danger : Related to above with no factions and no PVP server option (i.e. PVP all over not just designated zones) it feels like there is never the fear of people ganked out in the wild.
You say this like it’s a bad thing. The lack of open world pvp is a big plus for many, many players. Obviously some people prefer having open world pvp, and they’re welcome to enjoy what they enjoy. Just don’t expect it to really become a thing in GW2.
All in all, it doesn’t sound like you’re “missing” anything. You’re just not used to the differences between GW2 and WoW (or many other MMOs). Given more playtime and trying new approaches, you might come to like GW2, or you may find it really just isn’t for you. The only way to find out is to play more, reach out to other players, reach out to guilds (if you’re interested in being in one), and see what you think about it all.

Exotics are usually not account bound; the exotics that are account bound are pretty rare to come across. Also, gear bought from karma vendors is almost always soulbound on acquire; so, if you bought your Rabid Spineguard from an Orr temple vendor, that’s why it’s soulbound. And since back items aren’t forgeable, yeah, your only option is to delete it, I’m afraid.
The instance is completely doable, both solo and in a party, as long as you know what to do. The knockbacks are annoying if you’re not on a class with easy access to stability, but they won’t stop you from finishing it. Check out everyone’s post above mine; they all gave good tips on what to do.
The longest title I’ve seen is Post a pic of your character only if your armor is mix n match
If you need more characters than that then you’re trying to put to much into a simple title.
This, pretty much.
If you know who the player was, I’d go ahead and report him via a Support Ticket. Provide screenshots and details on what happened. You won’t be able to get back anything that was stolen, but if Anet sees proof that this person stole, they could be disciplined by Anet.
I think the death penalty system in GW1 can be more penalising than armour damage, especially because it’s harder to remove, unless you’re ok with going back to town and starting the whole quest/dungeon/zone over again.
Yup. It’s especially penalizing in Hard Mode where you’re auto-teleported back to an Outpost upon wipe once the whole party reaches a certain Death Penalty percentage.
>.> Yup.
I actually force myself to ground somewhere on the island if that happens, and I pray I can heal up to leave.
There really should be more than one way of dealing with Axemaster’s crap, but lazy design. :\ One of these days I’ll get around to a proper critical analysis of the fight, as I don’t hate it entirely, it just needs some major adjustments.
I really don’t mind the fight. It’s pretty easily handled, and the mechanic isn’t bad as long as everyone can see him and brings CC. It’s just the random “Oh, you’re flying near my island, and you’re not in combat range? Time for you to die” that gets to me.
I love it when I accidentally glide by his island while he’s up.
Me: This is a peaceful glide to this area over here. Surely nothing could ruin this for me.
Axemaster: Muhahaha. >target<
Me: Oh hell . . .
I was under the impression that this isn’t a bug. Instead, it’s just two different events; the wizard spawns during one, but he doesn’t spawn during the other. The wiki states the same, as well:
“There are two versions of this defense event: one where the Risen High Wizard spawns, and one where he doesn’t. These events have separate IDs.”

There aren’t really any tips other than to do every achievement you have access to. Anytime new achievements are added, do them as soon as possible because they might only be available temporarily.
I hope they will, but I’m not betting on it.
I don’t personally care for the look of it, generally speaking. Some areas are lovely (that memorial area with the waterfalls), but others (lobster) leave much to be desired. However, since LA is a lightning rod for attacks, it was in their best interest to not rebuild all the structures out of extremely flammable, old pieces of ships. LA as it is now is more structurally sound (except for the glass domes they have over heavily populated areas of the zone) and more likely to be able to survive an attack.
The minis are on the mini ticket vendor, and you get tickets from black lion chests. They should probably revise the post to point that out.
You all may now rejoice.
Like with the rest of the achievements for this, the achievement didn’t appear for me under Current Events until I actually completed it. And the completed achievement shows up for me in the Current Events tab right now.
And you are saying that I played explorable mode because other players opened it when i was partied with them on other toons (not my main)?
I’m asking this just to be sure. English is not my mother language and sometimes it’s hard for me to understand some statements on the 1st time I read.
Correct. That is what I’m saying.
NONE of my LS2 achievements and Explorable Paths are unlocked to my whole account.
With the exception of the occasional buggy achievement that lets you unlock it early, LS2 is set up so that you can only obtain achievements on characters that have already played through the story chapters once. That was never an account-wide unlock.
Similarly, dungeon Explorable Paths were always unlocked by character. You’re always able to ENTER an explorable path, even if your character hasn’t done story. However, you can only OPEN an explorable path if your character has done story. Now, some time ago (over a year ago), they did a change with PvP reward tracks that required you to replay Story on every dungeon in order to unlock its respective PvP reward track. However, that shouldn’t have affected your characters’ ability to open an Explorable path if you’d done story on it. If you know for a fact you did a story path on a particular character, you could bring that up with support as a bug. However, they might not unlock it for you; luckily running story mode doesn’t take long for any of them.
As far as Dungeons go, I do believe the Dungeons were unlocked account-wide, as indicated in the Wiki.
No, you always had to do Story on a character in order to OPEN an explorable path on that same character. You can enter the explorable paths without doing so, though; you just can’t open it.
That’s…just plain freaky. o_O (Also wasn’t even aware that there was a mini-dungeon in Caledon since it is a starter zone and all.)
There are two, I believe. That one, and the Don’t Touch The Shiny one.
(edited by RoseofGilead.8907)
Did that small time when dungeon rewards were nerfed really pull that many skilled players out of dungeons?
That time pulled a lot of players out of dungeon running, yes. But another part of it was Anet adding Daily Dungeon back as a possible daily, which means lots of people unfamiliar with dungeons do them on those days. The day the OP made this was Daily CM.
Just the other day you made posts saying that players shouldn’t be able to send gold to eachother via mail because of gold scammers. Now you’ve made a post asking why we don’t have direct trade (which we do have). Interesting.
The forums aren’t meant to be used to facilitate selling or trading items, really.
This wasn’t the first travel toy they’ve released, and they even recently changed Boxes of Fun to let you use travel toys for a short period of time after they’re dropped.
I already had the magic carpet (for much cheaper than the new one) and broom from the witch costume, so no, I didn’t buy the new travel toy.
Yes, the items on the gem store are rotated (usually around every Fall and Spring, I think). There are also special sales that happen a couple of times a year that will sometimes feature specific items. So, just keep an eye on the gem store, especially once it gets close to Fall.
Yeah, I have to agree with those who say the event is way overtuned and that getting Thwart the Inquest is more difficult now. It’s doable, but there are so many of the energy-stealing mobs that it’s really easy to miss one.
What goat said. Gorillas simply don’t exist in that part of Maguuma. Apparently they did live on Orr (or close enough to it to end up on the landmass when Zhaitan raised it from the sea), which is why there are Risen Gorillas.
Incidentally, I don’t remember any gorillas from GW1. There were some simians in the Tarnished Coast region, though (and they annoyed me greatly).
If you’re unhappy with your purchase, it doesn’t actually bind to your account/character. You can buy an Upgrade Extractor from Fractals of the Mists for 20-silver, remove it from your trinket and re-list it for sale.
No, he’d have to pay 250 gems for the Upgrade Extractor. The item that sells for 20s is the Infusion Extractor. Or, if the trinket is salvageable, he can use a black lion salvage kit to get the upgrade out.
its an infusion.
Doh. You’re right. I’m dumb tonight. Ignore me.
I can’t comment on the glow thing because I’ve just never paid attention to it. If someone keeps changing your edit, just keep changing it back and try to provide proof of your side.
Scarlet Briar is the only Sylvari I can think of who ever took a second name, and her given name was just one name. There are plenty of Sylvari with titles (ie. the Nightmare Court leaders), and named by their professions. But no, surnames are not common for Sylvari.
Start paying attention from now on, especially during the Personal Story.
Eh, I don’t really have any intention of getting involved in the glow info on the wiki. I’ll take your word for it, though; I have no reason to doubt what you say.

Medic Ceera needs a slap *possible spoilers*
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

The death of a loved one isn’t something one gets over easily, especially when the death was as traumatic as Tonn’s. And if the person who indirectly “caused” the death of that loved one pops up in someone’s life, the bereaved might be less than cordial or even downright hostile towards that person for a good, long while. And yeah, it wasn’t our fault, and any person thinking rationally knows that. However, Ceera isn’t thinking rationally because she’s still heavily grieving, even after three years. On top of that, she’s currently patching up soldiers who were nearly blown to bits/killed by Mordy minions; and she also was on one of those airships that was destroyed in hostile territory. Honestly, she’s one of the few characters acting like a “normal person” would in that situation; everyone else (player character included) seems to be on some really impressive anti-anxiety or anti-depression meds to be coping as well as they do.
I do wish that we had a dialogue option to defend ourselves in some way, though.
