“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Only thing I know about, which you might already as well but you haven’t mentioned it, is this for logo/images. I’m not aware of high res videos.
Colin, how would the system sort, let’s say for main cities in my case. Home server on JQ, but majority of (main) guild, I assume only the represented one would count, on TC.
?
Big feet! The next best thing after big heads. Also shows a certain continuity and tradition.
Shouldn’t the roleplayers who tend to be on same homeworld and in guilds together have a better experience due to this change just like anyone else? You are more likely to be put on the same map as your fellow roleplayers.
The system wouldn’t know if someone is a role player, unless it will come with some way for RPers to flag themselves as such. Maybe that’s exactly what will happen. We’ll see tomorrow.
Maybe, but again – most are likely in a guild and have other “RP” friends in their list, plus most gathered on the unofficial RP server of the region, no? So preference is already given on these accounts.
I don’t think it is necessary to create more labels.
Even though I don’t actively roleplay I’ve always created my characters on RP servers (missed that here though) for the extra flavour here and there and simply because I personally never met unfriendly role players.
I’d say embrace the opportunity to expose RP to new blood, that can only benefit and grow the community, don’t lock it out completely.
How exactly would the megaserver tech spoil RP?
They think that trolls would come over and spoil, their experience; despite the fact that nothing is stopping them from doing it now. You can guest on any server and do the exact same thing
I see.
From what I read the sorting rather is different than before – so now instead of getting into an overflow with all “strangers” preference will be given to server/guilds/friend list/language? That sounds to me as if chances are greater to meet like-minded people, not less.
The only thing I could imagine from how it is said is that you won’t be able as often to do solo explorations without meeting another player.
How exactly would the megaserver tech spoil RP?
Certainly sounds as if some potential is taken away. Guesting to get bosses done, rotate the events on different servers …
Let’s wait and see.
Suuweeet! Very cool idea for a birthday present.
Contrary to what a lot of uneducated people think, no one goes to battle in underwear.
An ironic claim from someone with the name “celtic lady”.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudity_in_combat
I thought she was spot on, since they did not even put on underwear.
(btw, the idea of “warpaint” is somewhat intriguing … skin-gem-store-material?)
Joking aside (and thanks for the little edutainment), I think topless (as they appear now) would be ok – and I would definitely love that for my charr. I often don’t wear a helmet so I can see at least a little bit of fur (heavy).
In the case of no pants … the default underwear shall be replaced with some leopard loin-cloth. I rest my case.
Sounds like it’s time for a new warcry: “kamikazeeeeeee!!!”
I’m sure it will alleviate a certain level of stress for some groups in dungeons. Now go my pet, bring them all here so we can finish this faster.
You have the right to remain silent. Any emote you use can be used against you. By posting on the forum you have been identified for being online. All shall be written in my humongous book of trivial knowledge.
P.S.: Do not call in sick and play if your guild leader is also your boss.
Well seriously – this should be a non-issue and is not really a privacy concern. A good feature, what we do with it is up to us.
That’s hilarious! Two thumbs up.
Pay to Win = pay real money to get an advantage over a non-paying customer, a market aimed to give an advantage for paying customers.
Pay to Save Time = pay real money to get something in-game at a faster rate, a market aimed at giving customers a choice of time.we can argue till death tears us apart but it’s actually simple, it’s ether P2W or P2ST, not both.
Two points:
Is this supposed to be a universal statement or only specific to GW2?
Does the amount of “saved time” matter? Or would you alter this position depending on if it would take an average of 1h/100h/10.000h played time to obtain said something?
On the contrary, I agree with the general notion and was disappointed to read the post from Mark as well.
This is actually a fallacy.
Oh smooth, we are actually not on the same wavelength – and that’s that.
Pay to win = pay to get an advantage, regardless if it’s just saving time imho.
Time is money. Money is power.
Ergo:
Time is power.
Ding, winning.
Let’s agree that there are variants. P2W is a concept, not a mathematical fact.
If I have a large customerbase who wants a “VIP” mechanic (a la p2w) because they are accustomed to it, so be it.
For what it’s worth if you are a chinese player and you are against it and you are posting on the chinese forums – you have my support. Just link me the text that I can’t read and I’ll sign it with “Sincerely, Rouven”.
Crafted dyes – let’s imagine those would not need an identifier to open … could balance things out a little?
“Dye unlocks now come only from crafting and from the gem store "
I think that is totally clear that the crafted dyes don’t need an identifier since he said UNLOCKS come from crafting.
Yep, saw that afterwards but didn’t bother editing. Heh, that works too I guess. 1000 silk to craft an identifier. Just kidding, we’ll see – could be really good.
At the end of the day it will be interesting to see if it’s still worth it getting dyes through laurels for example.
I think if this truly is an official interview, then Anet seems to be ready to talk about it and we should see something here soon in any case.
I can imagine something as simple as this:
Good news everyone! Dyes will be account wide unlocks now. Every dye you already have on any single character will be available to all your characters now. In order to open an unidentified dye in the future you will need an identifier which you can conveniently find in the gem store.
Flash sale for 24h only – unlimited identifier! For only 3s per use this identifier will never run out of charges!
Crafted dyes – let’s imagine those would not need an identifier to open … could balance things out a little?
I have to make the argument that this kind of behavior seeks to manipulate the expense of another player. This is not what market efficiency is about because you want to exploit other people easier, I don’t agree that’s a positive goal for the game overall (though I make no judgement about personal goals).
Yes, this is a modified quote from John about a year ago which I believe in this context still holds true (the original was more aimed at the “cold” number crunshing environment with no room for “opportunities”).
To allow this sort of, however attempted, manipulation, is inefficient. Combined with a need to consult out of the game references because the in-game given information is … lacking – does not provide an even playing field.
But maybe that is supposed to be the “skill” needed to trade?
We also might as well open up the game for all macros, damage meters and the like. I view this the same as the usage of mouse clickers – because those people would not do it (for long) if they literally had to sit there and click for hours on end. I personally get bored fairly quick alone searching for armour for example due to the amount of clicks.
Anyways, I’ll leave that here as food for thought.
This mouse is made for clicking, so that is what I do, one of these days this mouse is gonna click all over you. Dum dum dum dum dumm.
I have not experienced this issue, or rather, if this is the same as Rising’s, in those instances I close the TO and re-open it. Which of course makes you then look for the item again etc.
Considering that I am not afraid of a hiccup and that I don’t think I’ll run into the problem of hitting the 999 gold limit anytime soon … no I don’t miss the deposit feature.
On second thought maybe this line should be more integrated into guilds, instead of constructing yet another feature. Could even work along with the personality traits that are thus far useless.
I had the same issues with the stuttering of the video and “scratchy” sound, for the lack of a better word, perhaps the source of the audio file? Almost sounds like it was turned up too loud and the system couldn’t handle it.
Apart from that I think you got some great ideas and I liked it! Maybe try experimenting with fly by’s and zooming in or out. Maybe some vistas (part of it) could work for that, should show the players.
All in all good job!
Call it “brother/sister in arms” – “warband mate” – “krewe member” etc.
This “bonus” also applies if you are playing in a party with someone else that has this buff, even if he/she is not part of your “warband/krewe” etc.
Edit: Perhaps don’t make it a buff per se – but add earnable skills that apply a special combo bonus? Less to add a power creep but more diversity and visual gratification. Potential to add “warband/krewe” armour.

Apparently with a high enough VIP membership the teleporting to friends anywhere in-game is down to a 1 hour cooldown. Worth it!
Perhaps we can obtain “VIP dust” by salvaging rare, exotic or ascended items – similar fashion to “luck”. Hehe. One day.
Taste is different in various regions. From food over TV to games. Just because there is a prominent fast food chain in every country doesn’t make local cuisine go away. Heck even that fast food chain makes things slightly different in other countries.
There is also a difference in perceived value for goods in countries and as such some are willing to pay more (or less) than others for the same thing.
This thread may have run it’s course if the only argument left is to tell others how ignorant they are.
Cantha = feature.
Nods.
Cantha?
To be honest I would not perceive that feature (porting) as “fair”. Peer pressure and such. I would prefer a solution more as a skill earned with a one or two hour cooldown.
But I’m ok with the chinese version coming out like that. They might have to grind more as well because it seems in general they like doing it. No offense intended.
It’s sad that this generation of gaming has lost its bearing of the true meaning of “pay2win”.
I know, it is sad that people don’t consider any of the P2W stuff actually P2W anymore. People just accept any item they can pay for that benefits themselves. 10 years ago even the existence of a gem shop would have spelled death for a game. Now people just accept having all the good content behind pay walls and paying to do pretty much anything else in the game as well.
It is sad GW2 succumbed to this as well. Thankfully Wildstar is staying loyal to their customers and not making the game full on P2W like this game ended up being.
10 years ago I paid my dues every month. The only thing that got me was access to the game, nothing else. So if I am not a raider, bam, I don’t have access to certain armour and weapons for example (never mind the stats – they often also looked better).
Now I can “customize” my gaming experience. I might still not raid, but if I feel like it I can “buy” something and support the game, while always having access to the game without paying.
Combine this with the potential of not paying anything by playing even more (or cleverer, however you want to put it) and converting your gold …
In another game I always had to pay for the next expansion, I call that content behind a pay wall. Maybe expansions where the first real p2w items.
Oh, forgot your second question, click on your username and you get to a page where you can look at your post history etc, there is also the upvoted section where you can see your posts that have been voted for.
You can decide if you want to make the posts you voted for and your own upvoted posts public.

that also links to a previous post when it was introduced.
No no, the travel agency is responsible for any turbulences. They promised me a stress free vaycation!
Luckily only pixel lives are temporarily at stake and Anet is usually very prompt in fixing things without turning off the power for hours (so to speak).
Holy smokes, love it!
There be dragons.
There was dragons.
There will be dragons.
Well you see, I am a nearly WvW only player. And as we all know WvW makes you kitten all in this game, so I have to rely on flipping to gear out my characters and get them their legendaries/ascended. If I do all the dungeons, maybe i’ll get 20g each day, which will take me forever.
If you don’t know how to flip/play the market, then its your loss and you deserve to stick to champ training or farming some LA event. That or buy gems.
I don’t know about WvW, but I bet on the statistic chart it looks like: “See, they all love the TP, so many people using it.”
Begs the question how close a game like this should mimic real life, or a real life “economy”.
His statement was directed at the suggestion to make any tradeable item account bound after it was sold once on the tp. You can still trade the mystic tonics after you bought it on the tp, as long as you dont bind it by using it.
Okidoki, streamline and apply the same mechanic to any other similar item. Minis for example.
So the supply of tradeable tonics doesnt increase steadily.
Seems to contradict John’s previous statement?
Seriously though, I’ve never seen a compelling argument that making TP items account bound would be anything but devastatingly bad for this game and its players. (…)
New drops of Endless Mystery Tonics can be traded until they are used once.
Why?
(…) the legendary toilet paper.
Behold whip-like animations and the “mummify” undead skill, if used by 5 players at the same time (invitation similar to dancing) it works even on risen giants!
Mummify 1000 risen to grant the title “The Embalmer”.
Upgrade 4x legendary toilet paper at the mystic toi… pardon, forge, to obtain the extra-absorbent roll usable underwater.
On topic – add new legendaries, “scavenger hunt” and potential bug-fixes to existing weapons at the same time.
(…) Does he have reasons to attack LA?
Let’s see … he likes profits … he trades in weapons and armour …
In memoriam after the destructiam Anet will create the Mini-Mermaid.
Of course the mini has to be rescued.
Venture into the horrors that once have been Lions Arch …
I’m sure Bruce killed his superior as well. Oh and what a true Patriot, doing it all for the greater good of the Legion. Oh wait, he doest not do that …
Maybe he likes drinking, but not dying from it?
There has to be time for drinking. There always is time for it. Time comes with it.
I certainly haven’t done it 7 times, but I do like this mission simply because it is different. You might just need a different tactic if it takes 30 minutes.
Come to think of it why doesn’t the Vigil have an internal drinking competition? I would have loved to drink against Forgal.

“Retreat!”
Some people might not care about the copper.
Usually in other games I often just sold something (basically for free) with the idea, well if someone can use it – good for him.
The general notion here seems to be different, I wonder if the game design nurtures this behaviour.

I don’t think it will blow up. We’ll just see Scarlett there tossing in items looking for the RNG recipe that actually makes it blow up.
Or you think we’ll get a cutscene where she draws the “ULTIMATE”, depleting the well in the process. Something like the Big Furious Gun?
Zommoros caught in a cage, used like a lantern?
