I don’t have a problem with exclusive content here nor there, but then it should be either all or nothing. Would seem odd to single out one armour skin (or two, I believe there is one more?), especially one that was not initially designed to be a “limited” edition as Belzebu already pointed out.
I see it more as a sign that they will do something with it, but who knows.
Nope and lets hope that it will stay this way.
Huh? Could you elaborate?
They already said that they don’t want people to be able to “play” the system, ride on the edge, find out how much they can get away with etc…
A visible counter would not be helpful for that.
I have no issue with the assessment, but it’s not like there is any specific scenario given. If blood would have been spilled, outpost destroyed perhaps, I personally could still imagine retaliation no matter the cost from a race like that.
Quite honest from my point of view there is a discrepancy between how the race is described and how they are portrayed in the game – as in being too human in their reactions. But subconsciously I might also be more thinking about the Kzinti from Larry Niven, which where also somewhat subdued over time but still showed more violent tendencies.
Regardless of the unlikeliness of this happening let me get this straight – you are asking if a race that is based on military values, with traits (as per lore) such as fearlessness, ruthlessness – a disciplined but bloodthirsty and aggressive folk – would, if declared war upon – strike out and seek to destroy the enemy?
Or are we discussing tactics and strategy? I’d let them run into the cannon fire of my humongous motorcycles first, but afterwards I would raze their city.
If the question is whether or not to conquer and annex the land at the same time … who knows, some upstart centurion might want to become immortal and make a name for himself. Perhaps Evon might try to buy DR, expand the BLTC a bit.
So in short you cannot compare the zones to WoW in a sense that there will be “enough” quest-XP to level up and move on. Dynamic events, exploration etc (all these “alternative” methods people are offering) are key.
Almost sounds like you would “need” legendary weapons. Since you can change the stats anytime one would replace however many stat combinations of the same weapon … ~19?
Other than that as mentioned above seems like your only option is bag slots, if you only bought one yet you should be able to buy two more.

I think the main message, or vision, for this game always was “the more the merrier”.
I would not want a system where my first thought seeing other players would be “oh great, less loot – go away!”
Don’t get me wrong – I love to roam solo (PvE).
Meat!
Of all the races I like the look of the cook outfit on charr the best. But I agree, it is very much a butchers look. All those nice hooks
23 years lived. 0 winning lottery tickets. Why keep living?
Don’t you have to be 18 to legally buy tickets?
Nah, for me the logic is given when anyone mentions the TP. Doesn’t matter if the gold was earned in game or through conversion. People are asking for a different service. They are asking to be able to buy it directly instead of going through distribution. Not that I think that will ever happen unless people en masse refuse to buy the random kits and refrain from obtaining them through the TP. This would require a unity that we don’t have since some (not quantifying this) like the concept.
So, thinking about this some more, considering that we simply do not have all the information needed to make an absolute decision – for me it boils down to imagining myself being really strong fighting against a cat of relative size. Even without humanoid intelligence I would not want to go against one in a cage fight. I’d rather fight a bull considering that I might actually be able to hit him (again only if I was superduper strong). Hard to imagine a cat in armour and with arms, but still here I would give Norn the upper hand.
I shall bow out of this thread, I had fun talking about this with you guys.
Nono, this spurs great inspiration and made me watch a couple of “drunken master” videos. I think Charr would be at a great disadvantage here because of their spine, at least we don’t know if they can bend backwards as good.
Disclaimer: Mad props to any practitioner of the drunken fist style – and I realize they are not really drunk when doing it
Talking about size difference, since Norn would naturally look for larger prey/opponents, would they be as practiced fighting smaller opponents?
Even EVE has a separate chinese server. As already said, it is a restriction due to laws and not due to Anet’s decision.
Edit: Just mentioning EVE because otherwise it’s all just one server.
It’s a PvE only title …. oh yes, the possibilities.
“Why Anet are you forcing me to PvE!”
“We can’t do Teq anymore, they all just want to be killed. Anet you ruined the game!”
“P2W – Anet is just pushing revive orb sales!”
Heck, for a title like Aaaaargh I would let myself get killed too lol.
See thread below

Mhh … one thing I would throw in in regards to the training … what is the motivation?
Norn in one on one I’d wager want to show their prowess and skill. Something to boast about afterwards. Whereas I would bet that a Charr could not care if it looks good as long as it is effective.
Situational awareness … now would that be trained more in a group (fight) or neglected?
Next point of interest for me would be – endurance of pain. Surely it is benefitial if you can ignore pain during a fight. I am torn here as I can imagine Norn sort of feeding off of pain – wearing it as a badge – on the other hand I can see Charr simply ignoring it.
Who would keep a cooler head in a fight?
It’s a bit like poker. If you can sense the intent of your opponent already by his breathing or the look in his eyes you will be able to react faster. Instinct and muscle memory do the rest.
For the sake of argument here I wasn’t going to dwell too deeply on it, since we have to assume similar skilled opponents, my argument here alone was that the lore based knowledge of Norn being very strong is not the only factor and that I will assume that a partly feline race also comes with feline qualities – such as speed and agility.
In that sense I don’t recall a statement of how Norn transform and furthermore what qualities they keep in the transformed state. Is a Norn in wolf or leopard shape still as strong? His physique has changed…
A silly thought about the shape changing … does it say anywhere in the lore if they can fly while transformed into ravens?
to the side note:
Yeah, hehe. But the sumo example falls into the category of being used in a controlled environment with a code of conduct.
Why should English be the default language? It is not even the most spoken language in the world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_language
Personally I like diversity and a potential opportunity to showcase the one or two totally unrelated words/phrases that I might know.
The whole scenario is not new and there will always be people either not comfortable or just on principle saying that the “official” server language is the one that “must” be used in open chat.
As far as courtesy is concerned I’m of the opinion that it goes both ways.
The benefit of strength is undeniable, as is the benefit of speed. Strength does very little to you if the fight is over in ten seconds.
If my memory serves me correct there is no description on how the changing of shapes works for norn. They could be very vulnerable for attack at that point.
I don’t agree that martial arts “rely” on strength, but it is certainly a byproduct of training and core strength in particular is very important. The modern military certainly has very different demands of “strength” than in our example. Even a race car driver has to be fit, but not for the same purpose.
Well, I’m sticking to my verdict of potential outcomes as above, speed and agility wins over size and strength in certain scenarios and loses in others in addition to willpower becoming an ever more deciding factor in longer fights.
On the other hand … of course if the norn just stomps the outgoing shockwave kills everyone … maybe the charr can avoid that by jumping really high and landing directly on his head … I need more data.
Yes, in terms of establishing the conditions I said above I would take that out, otherwise it ends in “but the charr blows the norn up from half a mile away with his charrzooka” or “but we are fighting on a sandy beach and the charr just threw sand into the norns face”.
Strength alone does not make killing blows and it does not take much to kill. If that wasn’t so mankind would have never invented martial arts, only gyms for weightlifting.
The premise that size and strength determine a fight might be correct in a ring with rules such as don’t hit the groin.
Just for the fun let me throw in my unshakeable proof that this is exactly the point of many action movies where the small little asian fellow overcomes the big brute two heads taller (who often are adapt in martial art skills as well).
A norn does not have access to fangs and claws.
In general my post was towards the previous one (strength and size), but again here my bet would be that a charr is faster.
Fights are very often determined by willpower. I would assume for this scenario that both combatants are skilled. Apart from reach (physical size) speed would be a major factor. The rest is skill (technique) and instinct, some natural, some trained (closing the gap, reading your enemy and reacting to it).
Honestly, considering charr part feline – go ahead and corner a regular housecat and see what happens. The cat will jump in your face in the blink of an eye. Since the size difference here is vastly different the cat is unlikely to kill you (and does not have the desire either) – but change the scale accordingly, give the cat a humanoid brain and you will have a hard time.
One of your blows might kill it, but you will have to be fast enough.
As soon as you don protective gear or weapons everything is different again, those would be the variables I’m personally talking about.
I would not go into the shapeshifting, huge ravens or what happens if the charr calls the warband.
My verdict would be – in a cage fight the charr would most often win. In a scenario of a one-on-one at the edge of a battlefield – norn most often.
Tears are the source of my evil powers, but not a source of data…………yet.
Haha, all right thanks.
I actually do have ways of measuring the emotional side, but the forums are only one variable and have to be compared to other sources of data. I would definitely not use surveys or exit interviews as they are massively biased data sources and I personally am not a fan of either in this setting.
Interesting. Are you able to elaborate or give a general example of how this works? How accurate would you deem that way of measuring? I’m sure there are ways to establish patterns and cross referencing them (in-game TP browsing perhaps?) but surely this data cannot be complete, although I assume it will average out over the masses.
The point is to make GW2 a better game. I can understand that some might not care about making it better. I just happen to not be one of those ppl.
I cannot think of any time where a wealth gap that ever increases is a good thing, They have always turned out to be detrimental.
The only way I can see that it wouldn’t matter is if the games life cycle is over b4 it becomes too much of an issue. If this is considered and has been deemed acceptable, I understand that.
I think the dilemma here is that there are two sides to it.
One is the logical theoretical side that is supported by internal metrics and can as such be proven to be functioning within certain parameters, even be declared as successes on many levels.
The other would be the emotional side which always be dismissed as anecdotal evidence because no one is measuring it (e.g. surveys, exit interviews), or to phrase this better – measuring this would need additional steps and due to the nature of emotions (e.g. ragequitters) are not as accurate.
I would compare this in essence to an often ongoing PvP debate of how classes are overpowered etc and life is unfair, whereas metrics show not only theoretical potential but actual damage and more done in the gazillion fights going on around the clock.
Hopping on that train of thought there should be, exactly similar to the PvP environment, more information flowing in a sense of a dialogue. But since the TP is not “promoted” the same way as competitive PvP is there will most likely be no budget for additional manpower in that department just to appease potential unhappy customers that can only be measured by some forum posts.
Haha, I never noticed that.
Confirmed and scientifically proven, playing GW2 prolongs life span!
The crafting of flipped items or items crafted with flipped items, or the flipping of crafted items or items crafted with flipped items, shall be taxeable by Evon not under 15%.
It’s a ‘goes around comes around’ kinda thing.
Does this cover you?

Yup that’s a mighty fine piece of work, kind of helps some up the point nicely. Wallet remains closed until an expansion regardless of what new skins or trinkets are thrown my way.
If someone starts counting then he should count correct, that’s all.
Me thinks they have to nerf those golems …
Now let’s be fair at least when throwing numbers around. Someone made this nice picture for the one year anniversary.
(…)
‘Majapahito’ , ‘Majapahit’ (or something similar)^ *Also has to do with some personal stuff but is easier to explain on google
if you search for “Majapahit”
(…)
Sorry for the off-topic, someone should make a coffee with that name
As far as your original question … doesn’t sound asura to me, my honest opinion would be to try and shorten one of the names. Otherwise just go with whatever has more meaning to you!
But it comes from the bottom of my heart.
It’s like they say, old habits die hard.
(I am simply proud of my flipping/flippant pun.)
On topic – never give up, never surrender.
Edit: Pun might not be the right word, but my mind already wandered off and I’m currently trying to catch up.
Thank you for your gold.
This comes across quite flippant.
All we know is that we will like the new change, John promised us.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Thanks-John/page/2#post3822273
Keep in mind though that it said throughout the year:
Mystic Forge
The Mystic Forge is going to get a lot of changes this year. To kick things off, we’re adjusting the way Zommoros distributes rare and exotic rewards a bit, allowing for more variation in output. This is just a stepping stone to further changes that will make the Mystic Forge a much better experience in the future. Please note: the rate of precursors will not be affected.

It depends on if they are armed or unarmed. Norn were known in Guild Wars 1 to slay entire warbands of Charr. However, if they are both unarmed, the Charr have their razor sharp claws, their horns and teeth to give them a big advantage. So;
-Armed: Norn.
-Unarmed: Charr.
I tend to think like this as well. But we should not get too technical and compare the armour, weapons, magical and racial abilities.
However, we seriously have to take this into consideration:

Interesting, the site has changed and maybe she purged a few things, I could have sworn that I saw a post back in the day when those items where introduced but I could not find it on the site anymore with the search feature (and I’m not going back all posts).
However, since I don’t know how the tonics work in regards to those items I don’t think that would have helped you here. Sorry.
Nothing against that suggestions. My default is how long ago the post was done.
Are you talking about the new outfits?
http://dulfy.net/2014/04/15/gw2-rampart-strider-and-incarnate-armor-skins/
Edit: If not you should still be able to find all pervious town clothes that were changed to tonics now on that site.
It only affects the first parts of the personal story. I’d say go with your guts, but if you want to look into it follow the link.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Biography#Personality_question
How would that work out? I want to RP a Norn that only rarely drinks and joins moots. How would other Norns treat him and such?
Also, would be in line with the lore?
Let’s see … I imagine a real life scenario, small village. Everyone knows everyone and the tough “men” gather in the bar after a hard day, getting drunk and telling dirty jokes.
Your character would not be in that bar often … sort of not belong.
You often hear about that guy, that only drinks milk when he comes into the bar. However that guy is usually muscle packed and not to be trifled with and history has shown what happened to some that tried to mock him.
It really depends on your character and not if he drinks or not. People could still think you are “weird” but accept the fact depending on your skills and or personality.
Some will laugh behind your back, some will be jealous, some will respect your choices.
Dear BloodFallsSilent, I second what you said. Let me remind you (and all other disappointed players, myself included) of the following ArenaNet post which I deem quite revealing, at this point: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/is-it-fun-colin-johanson-on-how-arenanet-measures-success/
The majority of updates always had varying tones of “is it good for the economy” for me. I’ve never had this feeling in other games before. Combined with the gold conversion and the almost forced TP-pvp it leaves a sour aftertaste.
Otherwise I don’t see it as negative although a lot of points have merit.
Wah I can’t get tonnes of gold while half Afk while watching a show at the same time oh the horror
I don’t think there where any changes done to the TP.
Something I actually do now, I have taken and used Trahearne’s quote “This won’t end well”, in multiple situations.
When you see a sign or flag above buildings/storefronts/homes and think of ways to get to that vista.
Don’t you mean: “This well won’t end….”?
I know this JP, it’s in Lions Arch!
I think it’s great. You know the mindset of the group right from the get-go and you can avoid it if that is not what you are looking for. No need to judge.
