“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
No screenshots … mhhhh. raises eyebrow
The reason why ANet won’t do anything about flippers hijacking markets is because it benefits them greatly to see these higher prices. Remember that gold as a currency is tied to gems which can be purchased for real money. They hope to drive new players into purchasing gold in order to catch up which is exactly why they keep on nerfing popular farm spots.
Unfortunately this short-sighted greed is having an extremely negative effect on the game as a whole. Short of getting extraordinarily lucky a new player will have no way to ever compete on the market. They’re strangling their own game trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of it.
I don’t agree. The best result for the game and therefor the best result for ArenaNet is for the markets to work as efficiently as possible (usually). Fortunately, the nature of the trading post provides a lot of natural force for markets to work efficiently. While nothing is 100% perfect, the large majority of every part of the game’s economy runs incredibly efficiently and we put a lot of effort into making sure that they remain that way.
Do you consider the precursor and Chaos of Lyssa market working “efficiently”?
I guess quite efficient for the flippers.I suggest you head over the BLTP forums and check out the numerous posts I’ve made about the precursor markets.
Hehe, did you intentionally only answer half the question or are we to assume it applies the same to the other half.
However, I’d suggest checking Johns post history rather than going through pages of the BLTC trading subforum.

Depending on the delivery time that would be an awesome service. But it will probably be like “only valid in the US”.

Stop sending other player PM’s, utilize the report function, make Anet aware of these incidents.

I prefer Elite Canthan from GW1 but then people would say, ‘See, they ARE planning to go back to Cantha!’. That would be a slippery slope.
Is this a screenshot from GW1? I’m just asking because it looks so skimpy.
I like it tough.
I personally think its not fair that about 1% of the population are multi billionaires but I’m not one of them!!!
70 million multi billionaires?
In what galaxy?
The Tyrian Galaxy! Far far beyond and up and away! To boldly trade and slay dragons where no one has spilled coppers before.
You heard it here first, this is the most successful, best selling game of all time.
Thinking about this some more, the outfit should come with a hand fan.
I wonder who could be behind this post |>

I’m sure others thought it, but I’m going to say it – I really hope you are not projecting anything into it.
Well, I wasn’t. But I guess you were. ^^

It’s a trick commonly used when the positive is also untrue.
He can’t say that precursor acquisition is fair. Cause it isn’t.But there is no middle ground. There is fair or not fair. They are mutually exclusive.

Dunn dunn dunn.
Is it funny?
Yes it isn’t.
Principles are good. My current principle (all my principles are subject to change, I’m progressive that way) is that $10 should equal one complete armour set, in order to use cash here it has to be minimum a cultural set – so once $10 = 120G give or take I’m game.
Just buy 1600 gems with $20 yourself, then exchange the excess and as a bonus you will now not only have the amount of gems you wanted but also more gold. It’s like a win-win.
With great power comes great cooldown.
Ettin copper. Like it.
Cooking outfit, my preferred choice for charr at the moment. And my definition for sexy when it comes to showing a female charrs legs. So outrageously skimpy!
The pirates outfit is a nice change at the moment for my usually heavy clad guardian norn. Colourful if I might say so without having a screenshot at the moment.
Tried a white dye on the mad kings outfit and was like yesss. My female human elementalist likes the fire anyways.
So 4 out of my 9 characters sport an outfit at the moment, haven’t played enough with the ancestral outfit yet to decide who might wear that.
I think it’s cute *lol

I hope she is still alive, gets amnesia, joins us, marries Traeherne, becomes high priestess of Kormir, and saves Tyria.
Taimi is fixing her up with watchwork parts as we speak.
I think the mechanic is fine, it’s very similar to the marrionette. What could be improved is the tools available to the player to see the status of each quadrant.
e.g. all health bars visible to all players in the event notifier. and perhaps a visual scaling “enrage” symbol that indicates which bosses are scaling up and by how much.
This would help the casual player understand what is going on and reduce the pressure on specific guilds organising a successful attempt at the event.
While I like an increased visual of what is going on, I still don’t like the idea of “o.O., there are probably too many of you, decide who leaves – and heh, if you where just on your way here, turn around now you will not be welcome”.
Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not even talking about drama or anything. But does that not sound like the most lame thing you’ve ever heard? “Yeah, in GW2 there are events and bosses now, but you have to have to make sure that the others want you there, because if there are too many players it gets too hard and makes the event stupid.”
It’s one thing to say “we have XX-man raids”, it’s another to say “open world, everyone welcome, but just not too many, eh?”.
I don’t know how to put this better – it simply feels not GW2.
If you mean the Living Story by current Guild Wars Events … yes, dulfy typically has some guides up very fast and good. The pointers in game actually have gotten better since the beginning, maybe you could be a bit more precise what sort of information you are looking for.
I’m always amazed on how much stuff you simply can find by using google or youtube.
I would also like to recommend this bunch of people, there are no obligation and I’ve never met one person here that is impatient or not helpful, I had hesitated for a while being more of a loner at heart perhaps, but they really don’t bite. Check out the thread if you like.

First thought: Watchknight Robotz.
Second thought: All Logans and Queen Jennahs.
Well a bit more seriously, I do think that uniqueness will be lost, but the idea of Avatars (could be a couple to chose from per profession, purely for looks) might not be too bad – if this is necessary from the esports perspective.
Here’s a face that, while it’s not brand new, shows how you can make a male Asura look cute without any really feminine characteristics:
Well done! Like a little boy gazing at the world full of wonder.
They just announced LS2 today with a picture that pretty much confirms we are getting a new map on July 1st.
Edit: Inculpatus cedo.9234 beat me to it.
Mhh, could also be a dungeon?
The problems with scaling aren’t as bad as the bad judgment used by many of the players present.
This morning Wiggins was consistently messed up by numerous staff Guardians and rifle Warriors perched on the ledge (or a tree) near the the ramp to his segment. So there were 6 to 8 players fighting out of range most of the time. Added to that was aggro pulled by people who failed to pay attention to their surroundings bringing more enemies back to the 6 to 8 people on the ground fighting Wiggins. You can blame game design if you want but really, people need to start reading and paying attention to what’s going on.
The group at Wiggins was also consistently handicapped by numerous up-leveled characters. Most were perched on the ledge with the staff guardians and rifle warriors. Again, bad design or poor judgement?
I think any system like this, which is basically “PUG” based raid idea, should take this into consideration. So either make the system factor these things in by not counting them and more intelligently scale not by only who is there, but by who is contributing.
Or lock the whole thing behind a group instance, so the members of the group/raid can take care of that themselves. Which is, as far as my understanding, not the direction Anet wants to go.
I’ve also seen someone afk right next to a boss. Intentional or bad timing? No idea.
The number of WoW-immigrants that equate them to Tauren. …bluuuugh. It makes me want to throw haymakers. :\
Do not mock them but welcome our brothers, for they have seen the light!
Now bring me – a shrubbery!
@Rouven: Possibly have additional events that spawn at the boss’s location? Possibly waves of enemies that turn back the clock a little bit when defeated, buying more time for other groups to take their bosses down?
(…)
I like the buying time idea – as an incentive to stay in the “gold” rewards zone? Might not want to allow for additional rewards as it should not become more rewarding to not complete the event in time.
What if not all bosses are manned? Or in other words, would those additional events only spawn as a scaling measure?
Still leads to a ‘twiddle your thumbs while depending on other players for your reward level’ mechanic.
Yeah. Tighter timer? Optional events around the “bosses”? I have no idea at the moment.
Perhaps they should have locked the areas after the start just like in the marionette fight. Chose which boss to fight, afterwards you can only return to the middle and not enter a second fight.
@ Marbridae – sorry, I am sure you mean good, but I can’t agree with you. It’s in every ones best interest that the design itself does not lead to frustration directed at other players. At least in PvE, PvP is a different ball game.
While I did not have a personal problem, after having done the meta I do not plan to return. I found this by far worse than the so called hostile Queensdale chat. Not that people mean bad, but the design just leads in general to frustration. Especially in a game that has been telling us “the more the merrier” for the longest time. GTFO pretty much sums up the atmosphere.
I love people talking about realism and practicality in a game where Bows shoots unicorns.
And no rainbow unicorn outfits to go along with. pout
Anyway, there are currently more non-skimpy options (as you put it) than skimpy options, but I feel the QUALITY and UNIQUENESS of these pieces often misses the mark. There are lots of “wow” options on the skimpy side, but not nearly as many covering options.
I’d love to see some more variety in design.
Yes, I also get the same idea. People feel that there are “too many” skimpy outfits because most of them are catchy, while non-skimpy outfits are too alike and people feel like there’s “too little” of those. Not really surprising, to say the truth, as showing different parts and amounts of skin is a great way to vary shapes and edge materials/decorations, while non-skimpy outfits, especially when dyed in a single colour, generally look the same – a robe with a print on it.
Some of the former town clothes – hoodies and vests might be an option. They looked different without being skimpy. At least I think so, might have to search for screenshots when it comes to the vests.
(…)I think it’s a valid request. It certainly doesn’t constitute censorship. People are reacting waaaayyy too strongly.
Though this is the internet, so I guess I need to recalibrate my expectations.
Oh, I think it’s a valid request in general too. But maybe one should not put “Seriously?” in their thread title as if to say “are you stupid?”. That might help. It is the internet after all.
Other than that this is not a new thread, the skimpy debate comes up in cycles … every few months. Maybe they should be all merged together.
Actually op clearly says the opposite as a wardrobe nut, having researched the options. also, the incarnate, flamekissed, and profane are the extremely skimpy armor from the gemstore, that someone else asked for.
Profane is not new, I mentioned the recycled flame skins (although I would like to add medium and heavy aetherblade as non-skin showing, since I only mentioned the light version).
Definitely incarnate, ok.
(…)
I am not asking them to take any existing sets out of the game. I don’t see a problem with asking them to keep it balanced between revealing and non revealing. If they put in 5 new armor sets that are tasteful (as an example) it would be more balanced between the two than it is now.
Can you specify the last 5 released skins/outfits that weren’t “tasteful”?
Edit: And no, in general there is nothing wrong with asking for a balance, I just can’t find the un-balance as mentioned earlier on in the thread. I think this is more a perceived issue.
(…)Me being a Charr in a mad king outfit doesn’t make sense either.
Plus that’s one big melon on your head.
(Yes, I fact checked what pumpkin means! Large melon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pumpkin )
Aetherblade only shows a little belly button, not too bad I guess.
Brahams armour is really not very revealing.
Magitech not really showing much?
Phoenix ok?
Rampant Heavy
Is Phalanx a newer one? That one shows a little bit cleavage just for the sake of showing it.
Striders Armour … hardly anything to see.
Trickster – oh I can see knees?
Now Viper is definitely offending with the mini skirt.
Apart from the gem store … does ascended look revealing?
So what does that leave us with in terms of “oh new armour!”
The zodiac stuff that makes you blue
The reworked “flame” skins
What else?
Outfits … executioner? No. Bloody Prince? Well some bust?
To understand you better, can you please list the new armour options that you found to be not in good taste, or beautiful and elegant?
I can totally understand the desire for practical armour and such, but I don’t find that it is as bad as presented. Like, seriously?
Only shown as online for the represented guild might be an option. Yeah, why not.
I guess you could give warrior a try and see if you like longbow or rifle. Heck if I think kiting you can even go bomb engineer, just run in circles and drop your bombs. In regards to dungeons/fractals I don’t think you can get a very helpful answer here as they might be skewed towards either side of the efficiency spectrum.
Actually, just looking into this now, the Witch’s outfit would be an exception as well. So 5:3 not counting previous town clothes that don’t exist anymore (vests and stuff?).
That one creeps me out tbh
Like a mad scientist that’s going to crack a smile any second now …
I’d assume the OP is talking about the new ancestral outfit.
I was trying not to assume, but highly likely.
I don’t see what the freaking uproar is (except with female charr and asura, maybe). This is rather tastefully done outfit. Yes, it shows cleavage, gods forbid a set has any sexuality.
Oh I agree.
I’d assume the OP is talking about the new ancestral outfit.
My ears are all I need to attract the fellas.
:)
Haha, problem is if you attract a male charr he might nibble them right off
I like the dragon a la “fox stola” for the female charr version.
Otherwise there is this conundrum, first asura and charr do not have female armour versions. The physiology is different from other humanoid creatures and Anet decides (maybe?) to try something new.
We seem to have taken the next step, there are female versions now, but they don’t really take the races into account – or do so only half way (tail accessory for male version).
Let’s hope they will go all the way in the future, so you could truly believe that an asuran tailor or charr tailor made them fit their own people.
Btw, if I look up cleavage … for this purpose it is related to breasts. No breasts, no cleavage (which is the part in between) and thus no need for a cut out in the dress.
Well sure. Wintersday outfit has a different model for males and females. This is the second one and I think it has been long awaited.
I don’t see it as a boob window. Because there are many armors which have open chest on the male armor and thus on the female Asura and Charr. It’s no more “revealing” than those. But they did make it, at least on Asura, beautiful.
Feathered chest. Basically has no cloth on the chest for a female Asura. Same with the … gladiator chest. Is that too revealing? Is that sexualizing?
You are right – wintersday outfit. Didn’t think of that one, probably because I wasn’t very interested in it during the time of town clothes.
Both examples (feathered/gladiator), don’t get me wrong, while revealing sking, don’t show cleavage.
You might have misunderstood my point. I don’t see it as overly negative, but it’s not positive either, simply put I don’t believe a charr would create an item like that. I would simply like to see more difference. Like the tail dragon does so well.
Of course you can’t see it as a true “cleavage” because there are no breasts to see through the hole. But if there is nothing to see you would not put a hole there in the first place. So what would male charr find “sexy”? Maybe we can (or Anet) think of something that is not too alien/obscene to us as humans, but still a little unique to the game world. Maybe reveal more leg? If we have to offer “sexy” at all that is of course.
Maybe for some this is a “skimpy” issue at it’s core, all I would like to see is moer racial diversity.
Please define risk/effort. Can we boil that completely down into “time”?
Well, I equate effort with time.
For Risk, it’s either the risk of getting nothing from a task, or getting less than the optimal rewards. Take some of the hard World Bosses, for example. They would have high risk, because you might not actually be able to complete them.
True, but again, the only thing lost would be … time.
Especially since there is no armour repair cost anymore. Well … there would still be waypoint costs, but usually at world bosses you will get a hand before it’s too late.
Perhaps you should separate world bosses like tequatl from world bosses like shadow behemoth?
We are talking purely PvE I assume?
I’d almost say longbow ranger just for the dodging part. Otherwise most attacks don’t have to be super accurate. Maybe minion necromancer, but that might not be as good if you have to put the AOE staff fields down where the mobs are.
That’s the best I got.
Please define risk/effort. Can we boil that completely down into “time”?
