The “under attack” notice at objectives now displays 30 seconds after it is first attacked. Does not affect waypoint usage.

Well, better place guards in all your towers and camps now, it’s become ridiculously easy for the zerg to flip areas and you never know it’s happening. So, designate people to go into WvW and sit there for who knows how long, watching all the gates, …

This was not well thought out.

It means the exact opposite, you will never have to have sentries if you have a WP. As soon as you see white swords you can just WP in.

Its designed to kill your zerg, make things defensible against zergs.

Maybe come up with new strategies?

also arrow carts 1-2-3-4 are deathtraps for operators against people that know what they are doing. There is nothing to stop an attacking force to simply pull the operators off the walls.

Then just re-build the arrowcarts and rinse repeat with your 2k x 12 damage per second with the -33% heal that the poison gives you thus making defence far more overpowered than attack.

Speaking as someone who, since launch, has been saying that attackers had every single advantage during a siege (and they did), I welcome this change. Those of us who like fighting over an objective, who like the push-and-pull of a protracted siege over the 30 second zerg v zerg routs in open field…well, it’s our turn now.

If you think offensive side has an advantage, then you’re probably so bad you think you always had a disadvantage. With the portal you can run in and out, you have the walls to stand on. You have an huge defensive advantage, if you are actually able to kill the enemy.

Now I suspect you’re just arguing to argue Zumos. No one can seriously argue that defenders have the advantage in WvW. It’s so kitten easy to take even a fully upgraded structure its rediculous.

If my 30 man guild decides to defend a T3 keep it already was impossible to take with anything less than 100 ppl. It’s very easy to take something that is underdefended.

Well sure, if your 30 man guild defends then it should be hard to take. That has nothing to do with the argument about whether defense is in general harder than offense.

Lol, not hard, IMPOSSIBLE.

People stop worrying about the arrow carts. Yes, they are buffed. Now start playing.

Try out the changes for 1 week and then come back with your feedback. This could be a good change for the game. Give it a try.

Lol yesterday with AC the way they were it was impossible to take a keep. Today there is no point in even trying. whoever gets the keep will be able to hold it all week. The games will be decided on Friday night.

Keeps are not going to be impossible to take. With the increased range on arrow carts. You should be able to build offensive arrow carts to counter the defensive ones. We’ll have to see how this works.

You will not be able to build an AC before their already built AC kills yours.

With the ability to put 12 arrowcarts on a single door, adding poison to an arrowcart resulting in 33% less healing, increasing arrowcarts damage by 80%, with arrowcarts being so easily built with such small amount of supply required and increasing the time within which bleed stays on you from a cart… how do you think this is a positive addition to WvW?

I cant even … Im utterly dumbfounded at why someone at arenanet would think this is a good idea…

1- Use trebuchet to destroy inner siege.
2- Use said trebuchet to take down wall.

It’s going to be slower, more difficult, and require more effort and I bloody love it!!!

The only people who will really mind are the people who just wanted to continue the current flip-flip-flip-ARE-YOU-SERIOUS-DEFEND-?-flip-flip-flip trend. Fast xp, fast rewards, gimme gimme gimme.

Not so much. During the day today the enemy server took everything, I think they are currently ticking 575. We have no chance to take any of it back. The only people that wanted this were the bads that do not know how to defend their keeps/towers.

I’m not trash talking at all, as TC as cleaned my clock more than a few times, but yesterday there were about 10-15 of us that had probably 25+ TC pushed back in DBBL in one of our towers. We waited patiently outside expecting to lose but you guys never pushed out, so we ran off

I think it depends on the situation. But I have rarely been a part of a group that did not push out if it was the best decision at the time. If they were able to hold you off without having to push out, there is no reason to push out and take the chance something goes horribly wrong and they get wiped and give you a free tower.

Sounds like by not pushing out they kept the tower and you were run off.

Very true, I guess some people actually do care about points more than fun sometimes. Keep up the good fights everyone, work can’t end soon enough

For some of us the fun is in good fights and the strategy involved too.

It was like 6:30 am server time when you made this post. Of course it will seem empty. If you want full servers at this time of day you may want to go to an EU server.

Prime time NA is about 12 hours from now. I would check back then. If it is still empty move to TC, I have never been in game when I could not find other people around.

Play on Tarnished Coast. The cities are RPer paradise, and are packed constantly. Except Ebonhawke, which doesn’t see as much RP due to the risk of Events spawning in the middle of your RP scene.

…and down here in T4 we see keeps flip constantly.

So tier 4 and lower servers need some kind of mechanism to make them play like t3 and up servers.

Here’s my idea: automated defense. In t3 and up there is no shortage of people to man the siege like t4 and lower. So let castle defenses operate automatically if no one is on them. Or at least put a npc near each cannon/mortar and if no one is on that piece with enemy in range, the npc will hop on and use it. If a player tries to get on it it will kick the npc off.

This at least will slow down cannon teams from stripping smc of its cannons while the defenders are outmanned/overstretched due to lack of numbers (a lower tier problem).

I don’t think this would solve your problems. Cannons in T2 are near useless. They get destroyed right away. AC and ballista’s are much much more useful.

Elementalists are already the most powerful class in the game by a long way. Removing the AoE cap would turn them into gods.

I think it would benefit staff/well necroes a lot more than it would ele’s. Ele fire staff 5 is so slow it would not benefit from no cap as it is so easy to dodge.

Sudden idea:
Remove AE limits for melee only.

If 15 people are standing in a tight clump, ranged AE can only hit 5 of them, like now, but let melee AE hit all targets with no limits.

That might really revitalize the melee in this game.

People would just run entire zergs of melee then.

Haha, I think he dipped into the “Theoretical” bourbon on that comment. I think in “theory” TC is the powerhouse, and our showing this weekend has been around 50% of the normal weekend numbers we’ve had over the past few weeks. We have the numbers to be amazing…but they’ve been staying home.

Weak numbers have been a REAL problem for us all weekend. It was hard to get groups of 15 together to make pushes in FABL and DBBL for most of the time. Even when we took junk, FA and DB showed up in force and took it back within minutes.

It’s alright though. I’m glad there’s pressure. I feel like after a high pressure week, TC has traditionally come out of the woodwork, fists swinging. Let’s hope that rings true again!

I’m surprised by all the TC comments about their fairweathers over the last few pages of this thread. It feels like only a couple of days ago that people from your server were painting FA with a fairweather paintbrush and talking about TC’s unwavering commitment – very odd stuff.

Loving this tier with DB. You guys are a lot of fun. It’s nice to have another server in this tier that enjoys some good fights just to fight.

I am not sure it’s fairweathers, I would have thought everyone would be excited about a new matchup. It was definitely a slower weekend than usual but we usually are pretty weak over the weekend. We don’t usually hit our stride until Tues, so I guess it remains to be seen if we really are going to be slow all week. The new patch could make a difference to all servers depending on what actually ends up being in it.

Based on how slow we were around spring break time I wonder if finals have something to do with it. Maybe we have a lot more college kids??? Don’t know.

Server Troll problems.

Geotherma, please read the posts carefully, you’ve missed a couple of defining facts.

And yes, I understand ANet’s reporting system. And the tools ANet has to use. I can understand how in-game tools are not always adequate.

As for making the troll famous… he had already spread his bragging across the game as the “best” tank, promoting himself, getting others to pay him as a “teacher”, selling his “secrets of success”. He was already known.

Didn’t leave the game because of a boor, we left for a variety of reasons, the last one being the dev’s unwillingness to enfore their own rules, as well as rewarding the person egregiously breaking the rules on a continual ongoing basis. Slight integrity issue for us.

The issue in all this is that the devs in the other game not only did not have adequate in-game blocking/reporting tools, when they did get information from multiple sources, they turned a blind eye and it cost them money. Boors, are not only bad for the community, they can be bad for business.

As for boors themselves, yes, after 55 years, I and my guildmates (some same age), understand they exist in MMOs, the work place, the world at large. Dismissing them as irrelevant is one option. I use it all the time on forums. There are other cases where /block is inadequate and I was responding to the OP in agreeing. There are some good suggestions on this thread. Getting the entire server to /block the person can be challenging.

How is block inadequate? This is where I am confused, if you cannot see what he is writing how are you affected in any way.

Block is bugged. It doesn’t work properly and anet refuses to acknowledge it / fix it. Check the bug forums.

Didn’t know it was bugged. I have never actually had to block anyone in this game. I have pretty thick skin though and could care less what people say in chat. I rarly read it unless it is guild chat.

This sounds like a lower tier issue to me. On T2 it is extremely difficult to take a keep.

You may be correct. I have no experience above Tier 5 so that does color my view of things.

Yeah,

In tier2 it takes hours of sieging to take a keep many times. most times it will take upwords of 3+ tries just to get to inner of a fully upgraded keep. It is pretty uncommon to find a paper keep after Staurday in the upper tiers. I can’t imagine them making it harder to take keeps. Towers are a little easier but there are some towers that are neigh impossible to take if they have any defenders there.

I don’t know Devon is really on the ball. I would not be surprised if they were able to implement a couple of these, especially the number in queue. I don’t think they would ever add a server pop though. For some reason most companies are really weary to release those numbers.

This. Only in GW2 does the attacker have overwhelming advantage over a defender that is inside a heavily fortified keep.

Taking over a keep should be a herculean effort, not something that a group of 5 can do with relative ease. Who here has never used Cats to ninja Hills?

Server Troll problems.

We left the game… after we dealt with the troll. (Didn’t think posting that before was necessary.) Since you’re interested:

Even after the huge number of people had reported the troll for sexist, racist, and other ToS violations, by our calculation, the troll had lost the devs multiple dozens of new players and current subscriptions. Those are only the ones we knew about, might actually have been higher.

The tools provided by the dev were inadequate. The devs did not enforce the ToS they did have, and then they turned around and rewarded the troll by allowing him first access to the highly anticipated new raid dungeon. Bad business decision based on attrition numbers; that was the dev’s choice. /shrug

As for the troll, some of us managed to pass some helpful hints to the troll’s guildmaster, correctly informing his guildmaster that the reason their guild lost their “Server First” title on the top end raid dungeon completion (a status they were struggling hard for months to reach in competition with two other guilds) was because the troll who was their off tank was not only absolutely incorrect in his strategy, and approach; his spec and gear were part of the reason they failed. Repeatedly. And it was painfully obvious from anybody in the know that he was incompetent in all those areas; somehow the troll had managed to “snow” his guildmaster because he was “topping the dps charts” week after week. (Which btw, does not measure dead guildmates and the constantly replaced set of abused healers who were trying to carry him.)

Proof was in the pudding from the guild who completed the raid sequence first, not once, but turned around and completed it again, (having already secured the server first title.)

With our help, strategy, gear and spec were shared. The troll was immediately kicked from the losing guild and relocated (in his shame) to another server and had to start his own guild there. Oh. And yes. Everyone in game (across all servers) knew the story by then. And his character name.

Sorry, I did not indicate we had actually dispatched the troll. He was an unimportant boor except for the fact that the devs never understood he cost them subscribers. Their loss.

Sad to see professional trolls, er, boors, in GW2 as well. Doing the same predictable things. Boors exist. Society usually ostracizes them. As is appropriate.

It would seem block would be all that is needed to stop this troll. I am not sure what the problem is. How can this troll troll you if you cant see what he says.

One Last Huzzah for Confusion!

And once again the community Knee Jerks to an upcoming change.

There is no knee jerk. There is no question that conf will be useless in WvW. It was weak before but it was the only real option for a Mesmer running with the zerg. It was possible to do some damage to another zerg, as far as im concerned it was weaker than my necros wells AoEwise. Against one single target you could get a fairly large stack, and if that idiot kept attacking with that many stack they deserved to die. It is pretty east to not run into the huge feedback bubble on the ground, it is easy to dodge the incredibly slow Mesmer clones, the scepter skill takes a very long time to get 5 stacks on a person and it is also dodgeable. This nerf is nothing but a way for anet to keep bad players playing. They can now spam there skills unchecked. If I do play my Mesmer it will just be back in small groups again in my shatter spec. I feel that spec is far more OP and it will get nerfed next because bad players will cry they cannot handle getting downed by one 3 clone mind wrack.

I like 1 and 3 but 2 makes no sense as you do not have a place in the queue it is completely random, but knowing how many people are in it would be nice. And the other 2 just seem like clutter to me.

Seriously is someone blowing the thief dev on a regular basis? So they get to spend 50% of the time invisible and immune to all damage whilst pumping out insane dps? Really? Really? 4s revealed reverted to 3s? Should be 10s min.

It’s amazing that thiefs get BUFFED. Just before the last patch, they announced that thiefs will get their DPS down to more normal levels.

But they chickend out and didn’t do the change, they just changed the timer from 3 to 4 and called that a nerf (lol).

Now, it’s back at 3 and thiefs are just as OP as before.

I really, really wondered what happened inbetween.

Did all the WvW DEVs got a 80 thief on their accounts with zerker gear or so? It’s amazing how they can keep one class so OP. Highest DPS and stealth at will.

What’s next, give them clones or so? Oh, wait…

The best part is they are taking away one of the best ways to kill a thief IMO, by nerfing confusion. Most times on my Mesmer if I could get enough stacks of confusion on a thief before he went into stealth a few seconds later they would re appear downed. I don’t think that will be happening anymore.

Confusion doesn’t require a stationary opponent without any dodges, evasion, or a ranged weapon. And only one other condition in the game punishes you for fighting back, and it’s also being nerfed.

You are, as I said, oversimplifying things, to an astounding level in fact.

If X does not equal Y, then anything applied to X and Y equally will yield different results for each. Or in laymen’s terms, you are comparing apples and oranges.

Talk about oranges and apples all you want but go play a mesmer and tell me how many stacks of confusion can you properly even set up with all your hard work. There’s no other way to show that mesmers are a very hard class to play.

I was one of the first people to play that build, I was going full confusion mesmer in PvP back when everyone thought mesmer was one of the worst classes. And I was destroying with it, rarely even came close to losing a match. And then I deleted that mesmer after a month and a half and haven’t taken one in to PvP since, because I’m not enough of a jerk to use builds specifically made to remove all counterplay opportunity from my opponent. For the same reason, I’ve never done a bunker build on my Ele. I play builds that allow other people to have fun, maybe you should try it sometime.

so you haven’t played your mesmer after the first mesmer nerf that also hit confusion by a 50% nerf?

I have, gave it up after that, didn’t even see that make much of a difference. And looking back I guess it was more than a month and a half :P

This build is not good for the game, it’s overpowered to an extent, but more importantly it discourages people from playing by giving no opportunity for counterplay. Counterplay should give you offensive and defensive choices depending on what your opponent does, then if you select the right counterplay, you’ve put your opponent on the defensive and he has to counterplay your strategy. Mesmers never allows for this, and confusion is a large part of that. Your choice is always between several things that still provide more of an advantage to your opponent than to yourself. You can never put a mesmer on the defensive.

Now I agree, better things can be down with confusion, possibly an overhaul. And that there are more problematic things in the mesmer profession than confusion. But this is a step in the right direction, if it doesn’t work, then more extreme changes are a possibility; but this has to be tried and tested first.

I’m sorry if you die to confusion you should feel bad. It was by no means OP. Mesmers will be shelved for the most part, glamour Mesmer was fun to play, I will just go back to Shatter/Phant hybrid and have a little less fun with it, but meh. Now Mesmer is down to one fun build instead of 2. I forsee shatter Mesmer will be nerfed in the next patch most likely, because people will think that they should not have to dodge 3 shatters on a GC Mesmer and that will down near anybody in one shot. There is obviously no way to counter that.

They didn’t exactly say that they’ll change them to account bound.

There’s the possibility that they could simply by adding a collection tab for WvW-related items. When you place a soulbound item in a collection slot it becomes a ‘number’ in a stack (e.g.: HoM miniatures), and any character can take it out, but it’ll still be soulbound on a player’s inventory when they get the item again.

If you ask me, between making them account bound and giving them collector slot, I’d rather have the latter.

To me it sound like they are going beyond account bound. Maybe making it possible somehow to put them in the GB so commanders can just take them out of there as a short term fix until they can be traded.

WvW is meant for large scale battles. There is nothing to be “Fixed” in regards to large scale battles “zergs”.

Removing AoE cap will simply create new much worse problems. Like 60 man zergs of Necros roflstomping their way through a bl.

Its pretty much always like this (not in every battleground). And if i go into any WvW i never waits i dont know if it means nobody plays or is that normal?

I would suggest participating in a Friday night reset on that BL. My guess is that would be your best bet. And by participate I mean actually get into the zerg and fight for your server. Everything is paper on Friday night, that is your best shot.

I think you are confused. First off you absolutely do not have to party up to level in this game. You are almost always scaled down to be 2+ levels above what your are fighting. I have leveled 6 char to 80 completely solo, other than some levels in WvW and dungeons. I never had a problem. If you use an elementalist or Mesmer it is a little daunting but completely doable. You do not share anything with anyone. What ever mobs you tag you get full exp and loot for even if you are partied up as far as I can tell. In DE’s you get a medal based on participation, to get a gold you need to tag like 2 mobs.

Make sure you gear is always up to date, do not play a level 40 are with level 20 armor weapons.

Maybe I am completely missing the point here.

Give them to a trusted friend, then switch characters and re-collect it. Preferably safer with family members, I do it with my father.

I know how to do it, we have done it a few times. It’s not fear of being stolen we do this among guildies. It’s the tedium of having to drop sometimes hundreds of siege pick them up by another char and then do it a second time. They just need to make these tradable.

What class are you? Other than my ele and Mesmer leveling was the easiest in this game I have ever done. I am not sure what you mean half exp and loot??? Everyone that tags the mob gets their own exp and loot.

This is probably the most solo friendly MMO I have ever played. If you are having trouble soloing you are doing it wrong.

I think they said for some odd reason (bad programming) players can only use the blueprints if they were soulbound.

Zynthetic.2954’s suggestion is a nice workaround and should be implemented asap, we’re all annoyed that they only way to trade them is to drop them and having to find a place where a pug wont run in and steal them. The despawn time on dropped prints is pretty low as well, so if like most guilds you only give siege to a commander who decides when to place a siege weapon, going through all your guild members having to drop prints slowly s way too time consuming.

What is worse is when some poor commander wants to start commanding on an alt. They have to go through the whole process twice with a usually very large amount of siege.

Could make them freely tradeable as well, rather then account bound… Although that’d end up with them being for sale on the trading post (or they could possibly make them freely tradable while still not allowing selling over the TP).

Also when you’re giving someone siege, people can run up and take them from you. Never a good idea to try and give commanders golems in the middle of a zerg. Could go stand out in the middle of nowhere and do it, but still annoying.

I thought I had heard at one point they were going to make them tradable but not allow them for sale in the TP, but who knows if this was just a rumor. We do go hide at spawn away from everybody and just trade all siege. This way we don’t have to do it in the zerg. It’s just easier for the commanders to have them instead of telling others to throw them down, lol you end up with like 5 rams at a door. There is always a militia that throws some extra down.

Hills is both really easy to take and defend. I personally think its harder to take Bay since there’s such a big range between inner and outer Bay. If there’s a lot of people defending Hills, it can just take time, and with a half decent Mesmer you can almost constant port in reinforcements even if they close the outer gates.

With the third floor in Garrison, if you can get a lot of AC’s on third floor and enough ranged to keep ppl off the ramp to get up, garrison can be near impossible to take. and Bay having such a long run between outer and inner, I have always thought Hills was the easiest to take and hardest to defend.

They really need to allow them to be tradable too or at least the ability to put them in the GB so someone else can take the and use them.. It’s really a mess on my 6 80’s all having superior siege and no easy way to give to my commanders other than going to a BL on each one and dropping them for them. Nothing is more boring than going in to a bl and standing there for a half hour double clicking and pressing ~ over and over.

I have never had this problem. This sounds like a personal problem not an other people problem. I can honestly say I have never been in a bad group in this game. Every group I have been in even the failed ones have been fun . We chit chat and joke around while playing the game.

The whole “you must be part of a group” is basically the pinnacle of propaganda in modern society. It really doesn’t make any sense that limiting the amount of people you have to interact with should be be considered good social behavior. That is, until you realize that creating good social behavior has never been the goal.

Grouping is simply a way of turning people more anti-social, so that they are more easily controlled. If you want to control a population, the last thing you want is for people to actually care about everyone else, because then you won’t be able to play people against each other.

I’ll be brief. I have no problem with the dungeon/grouping concept by choice, but I’ve had it with new dungeons being the only answer to continued PvE development in the game.

Why does every major PvE concept, whether Personal Story, Living Story or special events have to end with forced group instancing? I’d like to complete my personal story, Flame & Frost and experience Super Adventure Box on my time without having to deal with the random and varied expectations of strangers, much less their schedules.

Grouping for anything should be a choice, not a requirement.

Give me slower progression, less reward per run. I don’t care. It gives me something to do when I play. As it stands, you only produce walls which actively discourage me from playing the game.

Hmmmm… MMO – Massively Multiplayer

This would tell me that I should be playing with others. There are games made for crabby people that don’t like to group up and they are called SPRPG’s.

By the way, the super adventure box can be done solo, it scales down lol.

Love the “M in MMO” crowd. Playing with others does not mean grouping. In ten years of supposed “M in MMO” games I’ve spent the bulk of my time ungrouped, crafting, exploring, traveling, leveling, etc, yet still interacting with other players.

Never fails to amuse me when brought up. Funnier still that most of the big MMOs have an “automatically reject group invites” checkbox as well. Now, if MMO means “group” why do they do that?

Please name one big MMO that does not require grouping to get end game gear. Besides GW2.

Are you serious? By your definition then, only Raiders matter in games that have Raids. A common raider attitude, but false. I play for fun? And I don’t do “not fun”.
BTW, my crafter WS never grouped in SWG once, and there was no “Endgame” item she couldn’t buy, from Crafting money. Oops.

I hate raiding that is not the point. I quit raiding in SWToR, yes I raided hardcore for a longtime and I hate the raid grind, that is why I play this game more casually.

I think you are getting me wrong here. Pointing out that MMO stands for massively multiplayer was simply pointing out that there is probably going to be some content that you might have to group up with others to play. amiright? I have not played an MMO where I did not have to party. You don’t have to in this game and the OP does not have to do dungeons to get end game gear. Endgame can be whatever you want it to be, you don’t like partying up, don’t do dungeons. Not sure why so mad about that?

I don’t think an MMO would be much of an MMO if you did not have to group with people.

I have seen the complete opposite. WvW has seen a huge influx of people since WXP. I think more have been drawn to WvW than have left.

“Some” of you forum warriors need to take a chill pill. BT & VK is well known as it is for wanting GvGs. Please stop asking another guild to GvG you. If they feel like having some fun, I’m sure they’ll approach you. Just stating my view as a reader, it gets annoying and old.

If what you say is true, you would think people would expect a challenge if they claim to wipe such a group with half the numbers right? Even better when someone makes the claim, gives an odd excuse for inability prove such a post, and then dissappears even though they just posted like 5 times in a row recently.

Lol sorry I didn’t mean to go to sleep. I did not claim we wiped them with half our numbers we got wiped like 10 times in a row and I was frustrated, we finally took our tower back and wiped them once when they tried to get into the tower, they kinda tried again and then left. The only reason I counted last night was because as a guild we were trying out some tactics while outnumbered, in an effort to learn, what really made it annoying was the spy who shall not be named (or I may get infracted again) standing at spawn, more than likely not from BT. Based on the number of infractions I had this morning LOL, I feel like I should apologize for jumping to conclusions. Again I was all riled up last night and frustrated. I have seen this person that shall not be named before on other occasions in similar circumstances that is what set me off not the fact that we were being wiped.

I feel like I may get the genital cuff for my behavior ;D
