Sigils will proc regardless of which weapon it’s on.
If you currently have a full zerker setup and don’t want explosives, then Static Discharge or Flamethrower are probably where you want to be looking.
Thieves dagger ‘4’ pulls out a completely different weapon and throws it at the target.
It would be cool for example, if Greatsword ‘4’ pulled out a chain and used the greatsword to pull the target back.
So go play a Guardian and use their Greatsword (#5).
id trade rush and bulls for a pull in a heart beat.
Hell no. If any thing stomp for a pull
Hell no! I love stomp. It messes thieves up so badly. When he first pops out to stab me I stomp, then pin down, then bull rush him when he tries to teleport away and go into stealth. I’d hate losing either of those abilities. 2 warriors together using those skills is pretty funny. we tortured a thief yesterday doing that. knocking him flat on his butt every time he attempted to get up and stealth.
I’m with you. I love tossing Thieves around.
I would like more aggressive leaps/pulls on other weapons. It feels like a lot of our weapons are in-complete compared to other classes. Other class’s weapons have boons/conditions and a lot of cool effects attached right to them, while ours are like theirs, except less. Bland
You want boons on your weapons? Go play a Guardian.
You want cool effects? Put on a dress and play a magic user if the Guardian isn’t for you.
I am saying that these classes have more powerful complete weapons while warriors have more subpar. If you didn’t get the message before I would like our weapons to be more complete as well to compare to those classes weapons.
I don’t want boons or conditions, but if they can at least give us good effects in the form of pulls/leaps/crowd control/cripple/ect ect, it would be nice.
I’ve been playing my Warrior on and off since about a month or so after release, and the only weapon set I’ve ever felt needs any love was Greatsword. The burst on it is crap, and #1 is on par with my Engi’s TK #1 which is world renowned for being underwhelming. The other weapon sets all feel pretty complete to me.
Pull – Where would you put a pull? It doesn’t fit on any of our weapon sets aside from the Spear (where it currently resides). You’d have to scrap one of the Physical utilities and put it there, but Thieves already have Scorpion Wire and it would be a carbon copy of that. So that’s why there’s a lack of Pull.
Leap (Finisher) – Savage Leap, Eviscerate, Earthshaker, Shield Bash, Bull’s Charge, Rampage #3
Crowd Control (Assuming you mean Control Effects) – Hammer #4, #5, F1; Rifle #5; Mace #3, #5, F1; Shield #4; Bulls Charge; Stomp; Kick; Fear Me; Spear #3, F1; Harpoon Gun #5 (not sure if that last one counts, but why not); Rampage #1, #2, #4, #5
Cripple/Immobilize – Greatsword #4; Hammer #3; Longbow #5; Rifle #2; Axe #3; Sword #1, #2, F1; Harpoon Gun #4; Throw Bolas; Leg Specialist; Rampage #1
First of all what are we talking here? PvE/PvP/WvW
Pistol/Shield often serves as a secondary weapon to a kit, not as the primary. Also I’m pretty sure most builds will utilize at least one kit. Just think of kit swapping as swapping weapons on any of the other professions.
The only builds I can think of where you’re going to be spending the vast majority of your time using your weapon are (Rifle) Static Discharge, P/P (non-Nade) HGH, or Rifle HGH. None of those use P/S, and only the Rifle builds use your Zerker gear.
Yeah, it was challenging to try and make a build that fit within his/her criteria of not using any kits and using a pistol shield and still maintain at least some amount of damage output. I just couldn’t think of any that exactly matched so I tried to get as close as I could with using only 1 kit to simulate having a weapon swap, and still using the p/s. It still isn’t going to be as effective as other options but they seemed to indicate not wanting to use gk either so with very little to go on, I tried lol.
I’m actually trying different Bomb Kit builds in WvW at the moment. One with my condition gear and one with my old Tankcat gear. I took a look at the build you linked, and I had never considered a Bomb Kit HGH build. I’d offer up a tweak though. Rifled Barrels can probably be dropped and put into Explosives for either Incendiary Ammo, Short Fuse, or Enhanced Performance. Or For more defense/utility put those points into Inventions for Cloaking Device/Reinforced Shield. That’d also give you a recharge on Elixir H at 25%.

Agreed.
I often find myself playing at times when all there is to do is solo/small group roam, flip camps, slap a few yaks, etc. I can tolerate ZvZ in moderation, but I don’t get to do it often. For those of us that either can’t participate (due to not being online when the action is happening) in the ZvZ loot fest, or can’t stand alternately pressing 1 and their loot hotkey it would be nice for there to be a middle ground.
I don’t know exactly how that gap would be filled/bridged, but it’s something I wouldn’t mind exploring. I know there has been talk of changes to WvW maps, and maybe a change like this will be part of that or another content roll-out.
…but it feels somewhat disheartening when you’ve taken out small groups by yourself, “liberated” the camps for your glorious nation, only to have realized that you’ve cheated yourself out of a ton of badges and loot you would have gotten in the big zerg fights.
^^^Basically This
I use something a little more similar to Mask’s to good effect. It’s essentially the same, but with slightly different gear.

You’re new here aren’t you? Not to sound rude, but this has been discussed to death. You are not even beating a dead horse; you’re beating the patch of hammered-flat dirt where the long since rotted to nothing dead horse used to be.
Also it has been confirmed that Arena Net is working on giving every profession access to every weapon. So there is that.
^^^ Yup

Pretty sure you can’t WvW when guesting.
Warrior with Greatsword, Sword/Warhorn, Bull’s Rush, a banner and Signet of Rage.
Untraited his setup would give you:
Rush – 1200 every 20 sec
Whirlwind – 450 every 10 sec
Savage Leap – 600 every 8 sec
Charge – 10 sec of Swiftness every 15 sec
Bull’s Rush – 600 every 40 sec
Sprint – 600 every 15 sec
Inspire – 10 sec of Swiftness every 15 sec
Signet of Rage – 30 sec of Swiftness evert 60 sec
If you like Shield instead of Warhorn, Shield Bash is 300 every 25 sec.
There’s also Earthshaker on Hammer F1 for 600, and Eviscerate on Axe F1 for 300 every 10 sec.
Situationally Stomp is amazing, and since I routinely forget to put situational utilities back on my bar it just stays there. And that’s how I like it. Nothing like Earthshaker > Stomp inside a Shadow Refugue then wait a few seconds to stomp a downed Thief.
In order to get the double tap they’d likely increase the cooldown.
Try the sword-shield / hammer berzerker, its very fun, you dont feel grounded for having the hammer because the sword movility and earth shaker, also you can do very good combos with that set.
That’s exactly what I run. 0/10/30/0/30
Enjoy yourself and keep smashing that hammer mate !!!

Intothemists.com or gw2skills.net have them I think.
Too bad HGH required 30 points in Alchemy, and arguably 10 points in Firearms making it not exactly viable as a “leveling build”.
Pistol/Shield has amazing utility between poison, bouncing blind, reflect/AE knockback/blast, block/stun/daze/projectile.
And yes power affects kit attacks the same as other stats do. As I said Bomb Kit #1 has a 1.19 power coefficient.
Originally weapon stats did not affect kits, but as of early this year they do and all kits have a base attack of 969 I believe. I could be off on the number, but that’s what’s sticking out in my head.
Depends on the off-hand weapon.
If Sword, then condition.
If anything else, then power.
If you can make it work, then it’s viable. Leveling is all about experimenting with different builds and finding out what playstyle suits you so you can focus later on.
If you love Flamethrower then you need to take a look at this, and wait for Phineas Poe to chime in.

The build can be modified for WvW/PvP by taking 10 pts from Tools (dropping Speedy Gadgets) and putting them into Inventions to grab Cloaking Device/Protective Shield. Also you could get a little tankier by swaping zerk armor for Soldier/Knights.
In PvP/WvW just watch out for retaliation.
Thank you for responses.
I like experementing with builds so it is good to know that power is not totaly useless with pistols
They’re not totally useless, but I’d use Pistol/Shield over dual Pistols for a power setup. Especially if using Bomb Kit. You’ll get a lot more bang for your buck.
In addition Bomb Kit #1 has a damage coefficient of 1.19 so it scales very well with Power. The thing is Bomb Kit is best paired with P/S for the blast finisher on Shield #4 to make use of the 2 fields Bomb Kit provides. I don’t find using P/S with a power setup that bad since Pistol #2 and #3 are great just for the debuffs, and the WvW/PvP scaling on Confusion is just terrible.
0/10/30/0/30 for Hammer like Phaeton said. I’ve been running with Sw/Sh for the off-set.
No. What they were most likely referring to is that pistols are a condition weapon set, where as rifle for example is a power weapon.
Compare Explosive Shot [P#1] to Hip Shot [R#1] with damage coefficients of 0.35 and 0.65 respectively.
For a P/P build you should only be using Carrion if you can’t get Rabid (with maybe a dash of Rampager to get your crit up).
Well for starters use a current calculator like intothemists or gw2skills.
The only recommended leveling build was that signet build you’re using, and that’s only because it was blatantly OP. They’ve since changed the trait. So experiment with different setups and find something that you like. Leveling isn’t exactly difficult in this game.
Right on the front page for starters

Really? It doesn’t fit? Kinda like how when a warrior impales someone it applies torment instead of bleed?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Impale_
God, have we engineers become so pathetic that we don’t even want buffs?
It appears that Torment was given to Impale [Warrior], Shadow Strike/Skale Venom [Thief], and Illusionary Counter [Mesmer] to give an additional condition to builds/weaponsets that were under-performing and/or lacking in the number of unique conditions they could apply.
IMO the only place Torment “fits” is Necro DS #5, but they can’t have Necro being the only one with Torment so they spread the wealth a little. Engineers have no shortage of unique conditions they can apply so they did not, nor will they probably ever receive Torment.
Summon Will o’ the Wisp: Summons a Will o’ the Wisp that attacks foes, delivering a chilling blow every X seconds. 30s CD.
Grenth’s Beacon: minion channels for four seconds, chilling enemies that move away from him and granting 2% LF per second per enemy in the range. 300 radius, 30s recharge if secondary active not used.
While Channeling press again to activate
Grenth’s Embrace: cancels the channel and pulls enemies towards the center, granting LF. Distance pulled, LF granted, and damage dealt scales up to 150% extra depending on how long Beacon channeled. 50s recharge
I like this concept, but I’d take it in a different direction. Possibly something like this…
Will-o-the-Wisp
CD TBD
Minimal or no damage.
Inscribe a mark that inflicts Chilled and Weakness when triggered.
Combo Field: Light
Radius: 240
Range 900/600
Grenth’s Beacon
CD TBD
Moderate to high damage.
Inscribe a mark that detonates summoning a Bone Minion.
Combo Finisher: Blast
Radius: 240
Range: 900/600
You are correct in choosing staff + s/d. Definitely shoot for full rabid with some carrion filled in if you can’t get rabid pieces. Carrion weapons might be easier to get if you don’t have the Badges for WvW gear since they can be crafted. Undead runes are a cheap and very viable option for runes.
You can get Rabid head/shoulders/legs/hands/trinkets from Orr temples with Karma. That way you can save your Badges for chest/feet/weapons.
This thread presents the notion that Engineers need Torment in the first place.
Why do we?
Bingo
There’s also Cleansing Ire when generates adrenaline when you’re hit. I run 0/10/30/0/30 Hammer + Sw/Sh with both Cleansing Ire and Burst Mastery. As long as I’m in combat I don’t usually have adrenaline problems. I used to run Healing Surge and Signet of Fury, but found I didn’t need them to keep my adrenaline up. Swapping to your off-set when Hammer stuff is on CD will also generate some adrenaline.
There’s nothing wrong with Blowtorch.
Well there are a few threads here of players looking for friends/people to play with.
What’s fun for us may not be fun for you. So level both for a while and pick yourself.
The wiki should provide you with skill coefficients for each skill.
What profession and build are we talking about here?
Thief.
And build?
I wish they would touch base with us on the subject, but I doubt they will. Playing alts is one of the best ways to keep players from burning out on content, yet they keep discouraging it. Seems rather counter intuitive to me.

Sounds like you’re leaning towards Warrior. So I’ll answer based on my experience.
- Yes. There are gimmicky builds like the GS + M/Sh nearlight mentioned, which I hate, but there are plenty of others. I usually end up playing Havoc most of the time in WvW, and as long as we’re not outnumbered we usually do alright.
- Yes. But they can’t bunker like a Guardian because they lack the boons.
- Not sure. I’ve never really played that way on my Warrior, but there are some heavy cond/regen Warrior builds out there like Logi’s RRW.
- Depends on the build (of both players). Fighting a bunker Guardian can result in a stalemate, in which case you both just walk away because you can’t kill each other unless someone goes AFK.
I don’t know why, but it rubs me the wrong way when players go badmouthing a profession they have little to no practical experience in. Let the OP find out for themselves if Warrior is boring or not. Boring is after all subjective. I tried leveling an Ele a while back and found it tedious, but that’s my opinion, which sounds like it’s shared by the OP. The Warrior as a profession feels like a Warrior right from the start unlike other classes which don’t feel fleshed out until the 30s (like my Engineer). You won’t have all the tricks of your trade, but you’ll still feel like a Warrior.
GS + M/Sh is far from the most viable build in sPvP/Havoc. If you’re “blowing your load” only to miss your 100B because someone popped Stability, and just walked out of it that’s your problem. I much prefer builds that don’t require gimmicky setups like that. The biggest thing you have to worry about in sPvP/WvW is Blind spam.
I haven’t run any PvE content on my Warrior, but I have on other characters. It’s not hard if you have half a brain. The reason there are so few builds in PvE is that the min-maxers figured out that there are only a couple builds that significantly outdamage the others. If that’s what you’re trying to achieve then why not use that.
What profession and build are we talking about here?
Best to go with a Always On sigil, like 5% Accuracy in the OH weapon.
Stacking sigils provide better bonuses than always on, if you can manage to keep the stacks up and not get downed.
If you’re dying too often as a Warrior you really need to reassess how you approach combat in this game instead of thinking of another profession.
In some other games (WoW) block/dodge/parry are all passive stats, and you can get to a point where you’ll essentially take no physical damage at all without doing anything.
GW2 combat runs counter to that in which each method of mitigation previously mentioned has to be activated by either dodging or using a weapon/utility skill that provides a block/parry effect. Also circle strafing helps a ton.
I believe in the drop down there’s “automatic” and “best performance”. Give those a try.
Since you’re not doing dungeons you’re really not going to encounter too many situations where you’ll be hitting the bleed cap AND where your dps matters at the same time. The only place you’ll be hitting it is world bosses, and you’re going to get your loot regardless. You can play a bleed (condition) warrior in open world PvE and WvW just fine. Unless you really don’t like the playstyle there’s no reason to change. Sword/Sword + Longbow is actually very strong right now in WvW for soloing and small groups.
Once the WoW starts leaving your system it’s refreshing. Most stuff you’ll find elsewhere (not on the official forums) is likely linked or referenced here in some way shape or form. The only problem is the search function is broken.
If you’re looking for any specific playstyle just ask and someone here can either chime in, and/or link you to a guide/build on these forums or elsewhere.
Go to the support page. Once you setup a support account and get through the “are you sure we haven’t already covered your issue” stuff you should be able to submit a ticket.
