In one case it was a pre-overclocked GPU becoming unstable and causing the video driver to restart and in turn freezeing the game. The second scenario was caused by a turbo boost setting on a CPU causing a similar outcome. Both were solved by scaling back the overclock/boost.

I would first try the most recent drivers again.

Well I’ve never experienced that behavior. I have the same GPU, but everything else is different. I will however recommend checking your video drivers through the nvidia utility, or directly from the website. In my experience windows update cannot be trusted to keep my nvidia drivers up to date.

I don’t have a whole lot of experience playing my Ranger in PvP, but roaming in WvW it’s a huge difference having gone from a Spider/Drake to now Dog/Dog both with EB. How important are the Fern Hound and Wolf to your build, and would you be able to swap them out for something with a bit more (or a lot more) vitality?

With a heartier pet you can get more poison (Spider, Marsh Drake, Murrelow) to keep the Ele’s sustain at bay, and the cleave on drake can take out turrets while still keeping pressure up. Also theoretically you can keep a spider out of harms way if you get lucky with positioning (and it doesn’t get LOSed).

Just some thoughts. Like I said I don’t have a lot of PvP experience on my Ranger.

Regarding getting the runes out of your armor, if they’re just exotic it might be worth just putting a new rune set into a completely new set of armor.

I also run an Axe/Axe + GS build from time to time using zerk/valk/cav mix and it does alright in a zerg. Could be worth a look. Lugh’s GS + A/A build is beastly btw.

There was a thread in Profession Balance that suggested rolling Rampage and Mending into the Physical Training trait. A change like that could potentially free up 4 pts from Defense line without an unnecessary nerf to CI. It would however require a 4 pt investment into Power, but at least it would be another option.

Why the warrior has only one combo field?

@ OP: On which weapon ability or utility would you propose to put these additional fields, and which fields are you proposing.

Warrior being the blunt object that it is doesn’t seem to fit with having any additional combo fields. Especially with the way the weapons/utilities are laid out.

Now I have to choose between GS/rifle or Axe/shield/longbow……………….
(Don’t want to do GS/LB since I already have that on my ranger)

I just want to reiterate what’s already been said. LB on Warrior is a completely different animal than LB on Ranger. And so is Greatsword for that matter, but to a lesser extent.

That being said, Shield in a PvE setting is essentially useless.

You would miss out on the evades and mobility of the Sword, but Axe has it’s perks and is also a hybrid weapon. Even moreso if you’re not especially fond of Sword as some people are.

I’ve started messing around with a Trapper build in WvW, which can be played with Celestial (although probably less than ideal). Currently using Axe/Dagger + SB. Dagger #5, Axe #2, Spike Trap, Entangle, Keen Edge, and Geomancy plus whatever on crit procs you’ve built up is a huge Bleed burst. Problem here is your Traveler runes. You’d want Krait/Trapper runes for this build.

Either way worth looking into.

Regarding the latest updates…

Transforms in general replace the weapon bar and lock 6-9. I don’t think that should change. However I do like the idea of using Physical skills lowering the cooldown of Rampage ONLY by perhaps 15 seconds. Lowering the cooldown of all skills would be OP since it would allow reduce the already low CD of Mending.

Regarding Flow’s build, I’ve tried it out and had pretty good success. Mostly small group ops. Yours is closer to a traditional Dhuumfire build. Might want to look there for ideas.

What runes to use with this build?

in Warrior

Posted by: Sagramor.7395

Sagramor.7395

Flame legion is probably the cheapest choice. Similarly you might wanna switch the 2 pts from Discipline to Defense and take Cull the Weak.

I’m really not sure why changing weapons is off the table. At the least you should drop the Shield and take Mace or Sword to make use of Dual Wielding. Mace for more Vuln stacking or Sword for the block.

Something like this maybe. Signet of Might can be swapped for FGJ if your group is short on Might stacks. Battle Standard for rezzing downed groups. Signet of Rage is largely wasted if your group has adequate Might. Fury is of no use as is Swiftness for the most part. Like I said if you’re group is short on Might, then by all means take FGJ and SoR.

[Warrior] Mending, Rampage, Physical Training

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Sagramor.7395

Sagramor.7395

I would keep it really simple at first and see what happens.

  • Make Mending a Physical ability.
  • Make Rampage a Physical Transform ability.
  • Remove the bonus damage to Physical abilities.
  • Leave everything else about the affected abilities as is.

I would probably refrain from moving it to Adept only because you’d have to pass up Restorative Strength which Mending has incredible synergy with. It also has synergy with Distracting Strikes, but Distracting Strikes is a very niche trait. Theoretically if you wanted to make a Distracting Strikes build (assuming these changes) you could slot either Distracting Strikes or Physical Training in place of a Grandmaster.

Kit Refinement is no longer worth the points iirc. With the 20 sec cooldown, and the constant kit/weapon swapping you’re likely doing you really have to have a close eye on the internal CD and when it’s up you might be in the kit for which you want the Kit Refinement ability. All in all not worth it anymore I’m pretty sure.

Swap Mark of Evasion for Vital Persistence for starters. You’ll get much better mileage out of Dhuumfire.
Also probably switch your Dagger and Staff to Rabid. It’s really just a condition build which happens to have 1771/1811 Power. With your setup the way it is, you’re better off going full condition instead of throwing in a Zerk OH Dagger and Sent Staff and trying to sell it as hybrid.
Maybe try switching sigils of Malice and Momentum to Geomancy.

Are you having trouble with anything in particular or just looking for improvement?

Just some comments on your build and responses (to your response).

You have a mix of condition and power gear which I’m sure you are now aware. At some point you’re going to want to pick one. Hybrid is an option, but tricky to find a balance that works.
You have no condition clears that I can see. This is may be a huge contributor to your feeling squishy. I haven’t played the LS yet so I’m not sure.
You have Travelers Runes so you can probably drop SotH for another utility.
Sword can have a pretty steep learning curve. Step 1 is to turn off auto attack. I prefer GS though because I’m lazy and enjoy having an auto attack.
If you want to get an idea of how boons work the builder actually has a function to show you what your Power and Cond Damage would be with Might stacks in increments of 5. The rest of the boons just mouse-over and read. Axe #1 works very well alongside the trait Fortifying Bond as I had said. This is because while you get 3 sec (base) of might every hit from Axe #1 your pet will get 10 sec (base) of might allowing it to stack up much higher.
Regarding going full Berserker you can usually get away with it if you’re good at positioning and knowing what and when to dodge. If you’ve been relying on toughness, vitality, healing, boons, etc. to stay alive then going Berserker probably isn’t for you yet.

That aside you’re going to have to ask yourself two questions just to get started.
Power/Conditions? Generally conditions are not optimal in Dungeons or WvW zergs. Just about everywhere else in the game they’re fine.
Which weapons? If you’re not doing Dungeons or WvW zerging your choices are less restricted by what damage type they do. I’d suggest going into the mists and testing out different weapon types and builds to get a feel for the different weapons.

Sagramor.7395

Would you be able to put your character into a builder so we have a better idea of what you’re working with?
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/

Like Fluffball said if you wanna stick with conditions Shortbow is fine paired with Sword or Axe/Torch. For pets Drakes are tough and do decent damage. Spiders are also an option that you can manually keep out of harms way and still maintain dps. With Spiders you still have to pay attention though because they’re not smart enough not to stand in a mobs attack range or the red circles without you telling them to do so.

Since you mentioned not seeing what others do in Axes, Axe auto attack on 2+ targets coupled with the trait Fortifying Bond will make your pets hit pretty freakin’ hard. Axe #2 pierces which works well with on hit/crit sigils. Perma Weakness on Axe #3. Axe #4 hits like a truck and interrupts. And the reflect Axe #5 is really nice when you need it.

Drakes are the best all around pet depending on who you ask. They cleave, have high attack speed, self heal (although i’m not sure how much), have a blast finisher, share highest power with Dogs, and they’re about as tanky as you can get without going Bear.

Second highest health pool next to Bear so they can handle condition transfers quite well.

If you just want one for single target dps and nothing more a cat/bird might be better, but Drakes are pretty solid. Especially if you’re doing a lot of AE fights.

The crap gear you speak of probably isn’t a whole lot better than what you’re wearing, so spending money on a character you don’t plan on playing any time soon doesn’t make sense.

And like pdavis said, just play another class as you planned and rack up the cash and currency/tokens/karma/etc. on those characters and if you want to gear up your Warrior in the future it’s there. No point on wasting money now.

You can buy a cheap set of rares off the TP if you want.

What do you have in the way of currency? Dungeon tokens, Karma, Badges of Honor, Laurels. You can purchase Exotic and Ascended (trinkets with Laurels) gear from vendors with that.

If you’re looking for TP gear you might as well just get in game, go to a TP, and do a search to see what’s available in your budget. That’s going to be a lot more effective than asking around here.

For leveling GS + Sw/WH. For the unmatched mobility. Throw in Bulls Charge too for a little extra.

Adrenaline should come back... slightly

in Warrior

It used to be 30 seconds. There’s 2 things they can do in my opinion. Keep the rapid degeneration and put it on a 20 second timer before/after fights, or 15 second timer, degenerates how it used to

Both seem reasonable to me. What we currently have is stupid and I’m surprised that whoever partook in testing this didn’t feel that there was something wrong.

That’s assuming it was tested at all. The fact that Thrill of the Kill went unchanged when Adrenaline was changed to its current state leads me to believe that there was either no testing at all, or it was kitten poor at best.

Oh and Rifles are loud. Very non-(fantasy RPG)Ranger if you ask me. Also, as many have pointed out, we already have a single target power based long range weapon in the LB.

The thing about adding professions to a game with a solid stable already is that the devs have gone to great lengths to incorporate characteristics of professions that they may have had to leave out into existing ones. So if you were to add more you run a heavy risk of redundancy.

Not only that but we have a hard enough time getting the current professions balanced.
