Agree, seems somewhat lacking polish to have these placeholders still in place.
I’m with OP
ANet screwed up here. They need to sort out global instances when they do stuff that requires such large numbers to give a kitten .
Given that all classes should be able to be self sufficient then why don’t they have 1v1 duel options. That would also help shake out the OP builds and professions
While we’re at it, what’s going on with Viathan Lake in Kessex these days?
Agile is about principles not process, you have described some screwed up half-baked scrum process.
If you knew anything about agile you would know that the developers set the size, the customer sets the priority based on value.
And no agile process relies on another team doing the big stuff in the background!
Problem is, ranger is so full of game breaking bugs from day 1 that frustrate the hell out of us all and they never get fixed.
It would be nice to show us some love once in a while rather than the constant swing of the nerf bat on the by far the weakest class in the game.
Ranger: remove it from the game and put us all out of our misery.
I too am not happy by this idiotic short range.
As for thieves deserving 1200? kitten , just scrap all other professions and call this kitten game Thief Wars, they won’t do that though because it would kitten off the warriors.
They will fix this in GW3
Be careful not to make LB weaker though, they would just nerf SB more to make LB seem better again.
I would be happier with the new TAB target if they hadn’t messed up closest target in the process. Surely this is a bug?
Does anyone even know why they shafted the leash?
Shortbow should be traitable +300 like the longbow, then there is a cost for that range, a little thing we like to call ‘balance’. Then all those people who think it’s fine at 900 can carry on and enjoy the freedom trait points, and all those people that really want the range can have it.
Nothing should ever require more than 250. It’s all you can stack in the storage dedicated for this purpose. Unfortunately ANet do seem to have fallen into the lazy content style of adding grind. Forcing players to grind twice as long for an item is not the equivalent content as doing two different things for half that effort, but why add two things when you can be lazy and add one?
1) Class balance, in ALL forms of play, but especially PvE
2) New zones
3) Reasons to go to existing dead zones
I feel that this is basically rangers best option
The whole ranger class is a spectacular mess, from pets to trait lines, weapons, no team support, not useful function in any form of the game that EVERY other class can out perform and a specialty bow that has a range somewhat less than an 11 year only girl can throw a pillow.
Warrior is the best ranger.
Only two things you can be certain in this game:
ANet will buff warrior in the next patch
ANet will nerf ranger in the next patch.
What are you planning to do once you catch them? Bleed all over them?
You’re a ranger, just be grateful they are running away, it’s about the best you can hope for.
Short answer: No
So many problems in this game now it’s just not worth investing any more money into it.
Pets don’t sniff out thieves in stealth, they sniff out thieves not in stealth !
Sigh. Another 3 months champ farming in Queensdale while we wait for the next balance attempt.
Everquest does look a lot better.
free stuff = “please please play a game format we want you to play rather than a game format you want to play”
As for the patch, I mainly play ranger, guess how happy I am!
I don’t, thanks for nothing ANet.
This patch sucks and so does Ranger.
ANet wins the award for: Worst performance of a balance team in an MMO 2012 AND 2013. gl for the threepeat in 2014, I’m sure you can do it.
Ranger doesn’t work at all. It’s broken. Please fix.
Is Ranger still twitching? yes? not to worry, there is always the next balance to “Fix” them.
Why do ANet HATE rangers so bad?
Well Sic ’em was next to useless and Sic ’em in now next to useless. Problems with the way it works are not even worth mentioning because guess what…
Six ’em is next to useless
PEts need to be able to dodge and they need combat closers
I am not expecting anything in Oct 15 that makes a difference. There will be a couple of minuscule buffs, sic ’em will look good on paper but nobody will every use it because it still won;t add up, and there will be at least one major semi-hidden nerf that destroys yet another semi-viable ranger build.
Weapons will still be poor (especially bows)
Traits will still be stupidly un-synergistic and all over the place
Pets will still be the single worst thing that ANet has produced, by a mile.
The post seemed to me to be saying that they will happily ignore people who are aggressive and disrespectful.
While understandable on a human level I think this is a bad mistake on a professional level. There is a reason why many people are disrespectful, especially when the devs have just implemented a change or nerf to the game. The reason is that these people are passionate about the game too, they care about the change and are frustrated by it.
While we can all hope for a nice cosy utopia where we all say thank you when hit by a nerf bat it simply isn’t reality. Also, respect needs to run both ways and some of the changes made by ANet, along with a lack of communication, shows a lack of respect to many players; which in turn leads to some of the more inflammatory expressions.
ie. Don’t ignore your customers opinions just because they are annoyed and frustrated by what you do.
The simple problem is that there isn’t a single thing that the ranger is best at. Anything and everything a ranger can do can be done better by other professions. Especially amongst this are the things that people expect rangers to be best at, such as bows.
The main challenge rangers have is getting ANet to realise the mess they have made of the profession. All can be fixed but ANet are doing a really bad job these days.
In Grind Wars, all this stuff is what ANet calls ‘Content’
It’s a pretty pointless skill now and it will remain a pretty pointless skill unless they completely rework it. Standard form is a slight buff along with massive nerf to most other utility to make it the new least-worst option for rangers (*cough longbow *cough)
But..but..I need them for my alts. Seriously, I can deck out an alt really fast with these, I love them <3
It’s a bit on the shortsighted side to think just because you find no use for something that others don’t need them as well.
How the kitten does one of these help you deck an alt out?
I’m willing to bet it isn’t as useful as gw2lfg.com. ANet has NEVER done this kind of thing well, they just don’t get it, which is why it wasn’t in the game for the first year.
Just get rid or the plethora of account bound junk. Some want it, some don’t, let the market take care of the problem.
Same, just got my Birthday present too!
The population isn’t split between hard core and casual, there are 3 million people in between the two extremes. ANet targets its game to maximise the people who will benefit, and hence retain them. ie. it’s the people in the middle (bell curve) that they target.
So popular, yet so little love from ANet
Go figure
Great, more grind, just what this game needs.
Rant all you want, I agree. But ANet doesn’t care and don’t even follow these boards. At least nobody who gives a kitten.
http://youtu.be/KRcTKt47ixk when i watch something like that i die a little inside
Can you imagine how swift and hard the ANet nerf bat would swing if a ranger ever posted a video like that?
But a thief, that’s not a problem at all is it ANet?
Wow, can’t believe the garbage being spouted in here these days. Rangers are kittened, even ANet know that. They are especially a joke in dungeons, really broken. Now we have people saying that they shouldn’t be using bows if they want to play ranger. How broken is that?
Rangers regularly get kicked from parties because everyone knows how crap they are, and yet still we get people saying they are fine! Unbelievable.
The reason why rangers are looked down on is they don’t perform ANY function as well as at least one other profession.
And if some one wants to play with a longbow and bear then surely this should be just as viable as any other choice of weapon/pet? Your weapon and pet choice should be about the utility and play style you want to bring, not about avoiding certain choices because they kitten the party. That’s ANet to fix, not the player. Longbow/bear should be perfectly valid, it’s not the same as voluntarily running around in level 5 armor wielding a level 5 weapon, but playing ranger often feels that way.
Think of them as downed rather than dead. And yes, pets can be very hard to keep alive at time. Use F3/F1 more, keep an eye on your pet’s health and use F4 if it looks like it’s about to die. Your heal will work while it’s still in live state (but not that great) and there are other skills and traits that can help later on as you level your character.
Managing your F4 timer is key to keeping your pets active, it’s a lot longer if the pet dies so try to swap before then and pull it out a few seconds early if your F4 timer isn’t ready.
Many times, it’s annoying. Sometimes it is linked to the pet but not always. I’ve even had to log characters to fix it.
I’ve noticed that barrage is a massive agro magnet, also dungeons seem to attract everything.
I’m not really convinced there is that much wrong with MF. The only thing I would do is Spread the total MF in a party across the whole party so everyone benefits.
Or you could treat it as inventive skill use and not an exploit. But ANet seem to be constantly on the look out for any excuse to nerf the crap out of rangers.
TL;DR: its all how you view your class. If you try to play a thief like you would play a mesmer, your not gonna have a good time.
However in the case of a ranger, if you try and play a ranger like a warrior you will have a fairly good time (if you are skilled enough), but if you try to play a ranger like a ranger it’s not going to go well for you.
