It was 4 years of changes, I may have skipped a line, if you can find when the major changes happened I’ll include them. Also I left black powder out on purpose because the changes never really seemed that impressive or impactful
From memory, headshot became more expensive and the stun became shorter maybe about dec 2013
BP used to tick every second… that nerf was a big thing actually, since it made BP just a combo field and not defensive option
I noticed that some new particle effects cause a major FPS dip on my PC. Perhaps that is what’s causing the crashes on some machines, while just lowering FPS on others.
I’m using an nvidia card as well so it can’t only be that.
Do you guys crash during intense team fights or is it random?
usually when some event ends or open some window or during the fight
events are especially affected, i would be doing some event (old world or HoT zones), even ends -> BAM mass crash (i am not only one)
i get constant crashes, every 1-3 hours after xpac came out… i read somewhere it has something to do with gw2 memory leak and nvidia cards
i don’t think issue is just with OP computer, i would play with friends and they would crash together with me at the same time…. also using nvidia cards

For 3 years they been methodically nerfing this class into oblivion while buffing every other class. I don’t understand how this is even allowed and why there is no controll over people with god complex.
Well yeah, if you ask bad players, all the thief is supposed to do is decap and +1. We’re not supposed to be good at anything else because “hurr durr, mobility”. Anyone who uses these arguments should be dismissed immediately. Balancing a class should not be based entirely around avoiding combat, and anyone who thinks otherwise, should never be taken seriously. Thief mobility isn’t as good as these bad thieves would have you believe.
Well, devs also support that +1 only mentality on their stream. Their discussion about pvp and thief few months ago was probably one of the main source where this um… how to put it nicely, rather intellectually lacking idea came from from begin with.
Oh and then we have revenants and mesmers with plenty of mobility….that actually don’t get punished for it with nerf bat.
I (and i think quite few other players) would LOVE to see developers doing pvp on thief and stream it. I believe it would be most entertaining stream in months. Please, please with extra cherry on top, do it

What is funny to watch is when devs themself play thief on stream: usually it is either them punching helpless golems or spending 90% of the stream in downstate kek. Thief is strong yo, let’s nerf more~

We need passives that remove/convert weakness, we need passives that help us to get protection and resistance (even for short time, for example when we get revealed from enemy source), we need passives that allow us to ignore blocks/invuls (even if for 1-2 strikes), we need safe net passive like many other classes have (see endure pain, elixir etc. when you reach low HP, last refuge is garbage (usually kills you instead of helping) and should have been removed long time ago). Passives are cancerous but i highly doubt that Anet will nerf every single class for the sake for thief.
gw2 combat is miles better imo, animations are not so stiff, there is more combos in gw2 as well i think
BD reminds more on wow, i feel like gw2 is more dynamic and fluid
also, that UI….i looked at that game, so much text, so much stuff…. gw2 on other hand is simple and clean and doesn’t bombard player with crap load of information
GW2 is really great game, i love it… i just wish devs would stop ruining thief class
Uh, I do play on NA. I don’t see any favouring. Just bad design in some places IMO. I can’t believe professionals would hold any bias towards anything work related, although I do believe they can kitten up.
Have you played wow before? Heard about dev that got fired because he was bit too much in love with warlocks?
Why would a developer favour any class over another? The devs (AFAIK) don’t even PvP in this game :P.
Um yes they do. Quite few of them actually. You would know if you played on NA.
As far as favoring goes, i been asking myself for more than 2 years now why… i would really love to believe that they actually know what they are doing instead of random guessing…..
They deleted zerker thief in june patch. They deleted maraduer/stealth thief in xpac. Idk why you are surprised that people run around with staff trying to make use of garbage (aka drd spec) Anet presented them for 50 bucks.
What i am personally surprised about is that apprently (based on devs actions and patches) Anet has no company rules (unlike other gaming companies) that prevend devs from favoring (in thief case, heavily discriminate) certain group of players.
i could see updrafts but… no matter how much i jumped and activated glider they wouldn’t activate and i would die… took few fights with a team of 5 people to finally finish the fight
I felt bad for Trahearne since personal story. He was scholar, got to take resposibility for 3 spoiled wives (aka orders), got to do lot of paper work and got blamed for everything. I honestly don’t understand why people hate him so much. Would you rather sit all day in some camp and order NPCs? Would you really enjoy such game? Let’s get real, you wouldn’t. Trahearne got the most annoying and unsatisfying job, while player NPC got to do all the fun jobs.
I actually liked that character, was sad to see him die. Worst part, he probably got killed because a lot of players hated on him and Anet decided to twist story to please masses :/

Given consistent (sometimes absolutely dubious) nerfs to thief class and buffs to other classes that reduced thief to running away pet in wvw/pvp and probably worst thing you could bring in raids, also considering recent absolutely unjustified nerf to improvisation, what is exactly your goal/plans/design for thief? Please explain us?

Recharge chance from improv for core thief utilties got reduced from 20% to ca. 16,67% (which is almost 20% nerf). Last time i checked 16,67 < 20. I suggest you to visit some math classes before you insult someone accusing them in lying.
Given that DrD is just part of thief and not everyone plays it, not to mention that not even every DrD is using physical skills, it is overall actually a NERF.
I think it is know this part of LS is bugged. What worked for me after couple tries:
> restart chapter 13
> restart chapter 14
> follow the marks again however must fullfill following requirements!!!:
- don’t get close to sign if you are in combat
- don’t go ahead of the sign, get close to it carefully, then interract
I barely pvp anymore. Just farming pve masteries/doing LS. Thief is simply dead in pvp. I have no words to express how much disappointed i am with developers and how they ruined this class, how they ignored months of feedback and suggestions.
The worst part you can’t even express your disatisfaction/frustration with thief class as mods just send you into vacation right away. As thief player you can’t do anything to stop devs from deleting this class from game (based on their action, it seems to be their goal).
Only choice is to quit game and move to something new. So stupid, as GW2 itself is actually great game, i really love it, i completely it WOW for this game, but i don’t see myself playing anything else but thief, it is just no fun but apprently it is too hard to comprehent for some marketing people.
Facerolled on revenant a bit in pvp. Just made me sad :/
I don’t know why your complaining about not being “buff” enough but I just played thief and wow was it OP and fun to play. For those thinking its weak I main a mesmer and warrior and playing thief is seriously easy mode compared to those two. I’ll stick around thief for a while knowing how fun it is to play
Oh besides build can you also record your heroic faceroll on this class? I am sure everyone would LOVE to see it.
I think it is pretty much official that they don’t want this class in game. By mile worst class in pvp, pve and wvw. Mods can delete all the negative posts and Colin can hype all he wants but their actions talk for themself.
So I’m new to the game and literally just rolled a Thief like 2 days ago so I’m woefully ignorant but …

The Daredevil is really fun to play actually. And contrary to what’s written, I often ended up in situations where, a whole groupe got wiped out and I was the only survivor reviving the downed ones, while still remaining more than relevant on the offensive.
The elite spec will require you to remain on your toe and be active. No auto-pilote. On the other hand, it rewards you by giving you the tools to always react.
It’s a class that doesn’t rely on passive skils/trait at all.
The collection doesn’t complete even if i have all skins unlocked. It still shows that i am missing longbow skin, i even bought it again from vendor but collection still doesn’t complete. Help?
Ranger pet got revenant attack hitting for 30k that requires you to use 3 dodges at least, meanwhile i struggle to even get 3k backstabs on people (with maradeur amy) because of abudance of weakness/protection/invuls/aoe etc. What is your justification for all thief nerfs and such pathetic state of the class? Cmon. I would love to hear some intelligent explanation. Because frankly i think you don’t have any.
.. dp is dead. The aoe damage/CC flying around is just silly. Getting destroyed with resilence in shadows, blinds don’t do crap, headshot can’t really interrupt anyone anymore because of absurd amount of blocks, stab, invuls handled out to everyone. Besides pre-Hot builds simply got destroyed by oh so awesome Anet balancing.
I guess they reaaaalllllyyy wanted to force us into DrD. It just a rant since feedback doesn’t matter (see past few months) i am just really really disappointed that i am forced into garbage that i really hate if i actually want any matches in pvp now.
Play how you want? Yeaaahhh more like: you will eat horse crap and you will enjoy it because we force you to do so.
Well, i have xpac. But what really bothers me is that i can’t play my favorite build (which doesn’t include elite spec) anymore because Anet decided to make elite specs so stupidly broken and pretty much mandatory. I hate new elite specs, i do not enjoy them, i did buy xpac yet still forced to play that garbage if i actually want to win any matches.
For boss : learn tell, dodge on tell. Its easy, thieve is probably the profession with the most dodge in game.
For trash : blind them.
For every mob that can hit from range : use smoke screen.
Tips : do not rely on stealth except for trash skip.
actually standard pve build has just as many dodges as any class (nobody plays acro in pve)
Even devs on stream say that thieves are strong kek.
Out of curiosity; when did they say that? Recently?
I really wonder how they will fix the mess they caused in June. Probably never – brainless is the new meta.
