Guild Halls/Housing!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ShiningSquirrel.3751

ShiningSquirrel.3751

The following thread is related to this one. They’re not identical; the linked thread speaks to Guild Halls specifically while this one expands upon the concept to include player Personal Housing. However, there may be ideas from both threads which synergize with one another; so there is value in establishing a connection between them.

There are multiple threads on both housing and guild halls going back months, all the way to launch. There is no reason to link any here except to ask the mods to merge them. There is also no reason to keep bring it up over and over again in new threads. It’s not an original idea, if you have something to add to the discussions, please reply in one of the already existing threads so all players opinions and thoughts can be kept in one place.

Make it easy on the devs, mods and other players, stop making duplicate threads.

Official Stance on AFKing?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: ShiningSquirrel.3751

ShiningSquirrel.3751

AFKing by itself isn’t against the rules or considered botting, however it has been linked to botting in the past. At the start of the game, common reasons for getting suspended were having pets, turrets or AoEs on auto cast during events while AFK.

What event AFKers are doing however is exploiting a weak contribution system while griefing other players due to how scaling works. If ArenaNet really wanted to, they could ban event AFKers for whatever reason they wanted to. I wouldn’t expect any bans however, only a new contribution system.

AFKing is the exactly the same as “extended unattended game play” which is against the rules. If you stand in one place, doing absolutely nothing, that is unattended game play. If you where to stand there, not moving, not contributing at all, but typing in chat, that would not be AFKing. Same as using the TP or anything else in game.
If some one wants to leech off the other players, hits the knight then just stands to the side chatting or using the TP, they would be a jerk, but not breaking the rules. If they did the same thing but u=instead just stood in one spot, not using the mouse or keyboard at all, that is “extended unattended game play” and they should be removed from the game. BTW, notice the word “extended” there, going to the bathroom, answering the phone or the door for a few minutes is one thing, standing there for an hour is another and should be punished.

LOL, doing my blade kills for daily in LA tonight, prime time. According to map chat, 10 players on green and around 5 on red. Event failed of course. Saw so may players asking how do they do the holo fight and their sad responses when told they can’t, try another server. Not surprising. Happened with the marionette as well. You either do the content when it is first released or good luck getting it done. This whole event was just so bug ridden and badly planned out, it just made things so much worse as no one wants to be bothered with it any longer.

Know your product before you buy it
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars

  1. marketable product franchise name directly implies guild battles
  2. first product has guild battles at launch
  3. but no, name must come from a barely-mentioned lore event
  4. makes perfect sense

Does not matter. The features where well advertised for several years before the game was released. If someone purchased the game without even reading about it on the many sites that reviewed it, then honestly it’s their problem.
As to the topic, been discussed at least once a week since launch. No reason to create another duplicate thread and hash the whole thing out again. Anet knows how the player base feels, so all we can do is wait.

I can’t find who posted it, so I apologize in advance and want to give credit to whomever said it. But someone mentioned that there were 4 teams working on LS that rotate every 2 releases. I wonder if we just got stuck with the “runt” of the 4 teams for the last release. I’m just so surprised how the last 2 LS releases could be so vastly different with how polished they are.

I some times wonder if the teams kid each other over their releases.

Thay have remade a whole map, added tons of events for all sorts of game-play (champ-farmers, World-boss-farmers, the strategics, the casual event doers, the searcher and collector, tons of rewards – where many are really good….) This one is in fact wery well thought about and there is something for everyone!

This patch is in fact very good!!

Yes I have got ERRORS (even plenty)… there are bugs… but it Always is in new patches… and they have fixed them!

Think of it again and plz don’t come and say it’s not polished and worked on.

Keep up the good work A-net!!!

Sorry, we have thought about it, it’s not polished. It was not thought out or so many of the glaring errors/issues would never have been added. The patch was a dismal failure.

This happens with most new content. If you don’t do it the first day or 2 when everyone else is doing it to get their achievements, then you may not be able to do it at all. Many players just stop doing the content once they get the achievements and go on to something else and then there are just not enough people left to do it.

After doing this and getting the loot when only 2 died and we failed and then again when all 3 died an we succeed i found you still only get the 6 boxes either way yet before when we zerged one at a time you’d get a total of 15 boxes. Shouldnt it reward extra loot for suceeding and getting all 3 down compared to failing and only having one or 2 down?

While a agree this update sucks and is one of the most bug ridden things I have ever played, this is actually working as it was supposed to. You where never supposed to get drops from all 3 knights as you where never supposed to be zerging them. The fights where supposed to be done by separate groups, and you where supposed to get a drop from the knight you killed.

Then why are you still here? If you keep complaining about how bad the content is distributed, with the game being free whats your purpose for complaining? They’re not going to change their 2 week release schedule. Unless the entire community decides to go back to 1 month living story schedules, which I doubt that will happen.

If you really want to change the game, then simply quit. They will then have numbers to go off of in meetings at work to really change how the games content is distributed. But if they are getting more and more players every month and a high concurrency rate, then why change?

That’s what many of us have been asking, why are we still here? But guess what, if all the unhappy players leave instead of complaining to get them to fix the game, there will be no one left to play and the servers will go dark. Then what will you do? Thanking the devs for bug filled poorly thought out content helps no one and actually hurts the game overall.

  • The map wide Health Display for the three Assault Knights
  • The ‘Six Minutes to Knightfall’ achievement
  • Assault Knight rewards

With all due respect, it’s a little late to be fixing these issues. Many of us are already done with this content due to the many bugs. Please just spend the remaining time on the next patch so we do not have to go through this again. This patch was a complete disaster and there is really nothing you can do at this point to change that.

Why do u think they will be so cheap? They are ascended materials

They’re only used for changing the color of these backpieces.

Most people have earned plenty of alternate back skins that they probably prefer better by now…

Exactly, also there may be a lot of players like myself, who do not like the looks of the back and will be putting another skin on it. Recoloring it is kind of worthless if your changing the skin anyway.

I usually never speak in map chat, but there where players asking everyone to go to the knights. I was whispered twice by different players to go to the knights they need everyone to help. I told the rest of the map, sorry, I am not doing buggy content that I have already done several times for no reward. Amazingly, only a few people replied and I was not raged at and actually received a few whispers agreeing with me.
There where problems from day 1 with this patch. Players where reporting the problems on the forum for days and we where completely ignored. No responses, no comments. Days after the release when many had already given up a dev responded. The response was too little, too late. We where not asking a lot, only for a dev to take 1 minute out of their time to respond and just say they are aware and working on it.
I do tech support/help desk for a living. I know how it is when you have dozens or even hundreds of people all asking for help. You simply acknowledge that you are aware of the issues so people know some one has heard them. We where ignored. This update could have been fun, and it was for the first hour or so, but when you run in to bug after bug after bug, AFK leechers, no loot, griefers because or poorly designed mechanics, you lose interest. They threw a bandaid on the patch and “fixed” some issues but ignored others, but again, too little, too late. I could say what I really think, but I would get my forum account banned for sure. I am just sick of it.
Like they said in the old movie, “I’m mad as (heck) and I am not going to take it any more”.

It’s simple. They do not want these to be like the sprockets or candy corn, with hundreds of thousands of them sitting in the TP and no one purchasing them. They had to modify the game to get rid of the candy corn and sprockets so this time they learned from the past. They made them drop often so everyone would be able to get all they may need, and then players complain they have too many. kitten ed if you do, kitten ed if you don’t. As always, you can’t please everyone so they choose to please the majority.

This game uses the same name, but it has no connection to the original other then some slapped on lore and a few locations that resemble GW1. Try to think of it as a completely unrelated game that has nothing to do with Guild Wars other then a shared name and in the end, you will be much happier and enjoy the game more.

Because the threads discussing it have more people who do not want it then do. The majority of players responding have said they do not want open world dueling and as long as we keep letting the devs know we do not want it hopefully we never will. That’s the one good thing about these never ending threads, they actually help to keep dueling away.

I think the bolded part is going to be an issue. What if there are 57 people at blue, or green or red? Who is moving, who is staying? This is alot of coordination for an hourly event for LS content. Some servers don’t do this for the 3 headed wurm, and that’s permanent content.

They are taking the decision of who stays and who leaves out of the players hands. It will of course be the first 50 people there, if you are number 51 or higher, you will not be able to get the buff, will not be able too do damage, so you will have to leave and go to a different knight.

Knights give too much loot

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: ShiningSquirrel.3751

ShiningSquirrel.3751

I found my solution, I helped to kill 1 knight for my daily, then left the rest of the players to fend for themselves. Finished the meta today so I now have absolutely no reason to go in to LA at all.

BTW, I did try to do the event 1 more time today. Killed all 3 knights again, (do drops) killed Scarlet’s hologram then got kicked out before I could loot the chest. That’s it, no more. It’s bad enough dealing with griefing players, but when the devs start griefing us with this kind of content it’s time to find something else to do.

after 2 days spent on it I’m already done with it.

Better question is, how many hrs did you spend getting all the achievements? Anything over 10 hrs would be a lot of content for the average player to consume in 2 weeks.

I got all the achievements I am going to get within the first hour. So the answer to your question is “1”. A total of about 2 hours of content. How long did it take them to develop this? If it takes them months to develop content that only lasts hours, this game is headed in a very bad direction. I killed the knights, killed Scarlet, killed all her champions in LA. What is left to do? Farm the events? for what? no drops at all, not a thing, nothing, not even scrap of metal. Karma? No. Gold? No. Exp? No. Fun? No. I am completely disgusted with this whole update, bugs, AFK leechers, no loot, just sick and tired of it.

ShiningSquirrel.3751

While I appreciate finally getting a response, honestly it’s too little too late. As with all LS content, after the first few days when most players get their achievements the number of players doing the events drops considerably. If you have not gotten all the achievements in the first 2 days, it can be almost impossible to get them after that time due to not enough players. This is true with this update as well. Players now do not care about the achievements, now it’s all about farming the loot so those of us who have not gotten them all by now are out of luck.
I myself stopped doing the events as I saw no point in it. achievements now out of reach, no loot dropping, story already finished so why continue beating a dead horse?
I now just log on, do my dailies and log off as there is nothing left to do. I am sorry, but the ball was dropped on this and there is really nothing you can do now to fix it. At this point I have no hope of ever getting the rest of the achievements and I am not going to even attempt to get the super rare power cores I have heard of because I just no longer care.

I haven’t played for months since an ugly incident where I lost my account for two weeks because they said I was using a third party program. Recently, after changing the settings on my antivirus software to require approval for updates, I found out that I have something on my computer called Hotkey Utility by Gateway, that is apparently something that comes on the computer. I was curious if this, factory installed program was what got me terminated last year. I am not bringing this idea up for myself, I argued for 2 weeks and got my account back, but quit the game because of hard feelings on my part. If however, it is a possibility that your detection software is flagging people for a factory installed program, it would be nice if there was a more customer friendly way of dealing with it.

I strongly doubt it. The hotkey utility from Gateway would have no interaction with GW2 and is not a macro. You could program it to open GW2 by pressing a key on your keyboard, but that’s about it.

Tell you what, since standing still is going to be considered a Bannable Offense now, I’ll make certain to keep attacking the Legendary Knights with my Full Condi Tormment Grenade Engi. Too bad the event will likely fail again and again as I wipe so many people out.

This is obviously griefing.

Have fun proving that. It could be someone oblivious to the fight mechanic or to their own class. Anet can’t punish people for being bad at the game.

When a player says he is going to purposely make an event fail and kill other players you do not need to prove a thing, he just he admitted he was going to grief.
So have fun trying to prove he’s not griefing.

Assault Knight Power Cores

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: ShiningSquirrel.3751

ShiningSquirrel.3751

Don’t bother right now. Anet has screwed up the knights drop table. Currently they don’t drop anything

I’ll admit that I haven’t had a core drop since Tuesday evening, but looking at the statistics on gw2tp (http://www.gw2tp.com/item/50058-synergetic-assault-knight-power-core), it does appear that a steady supply is being maintained on the TP. This would indicate that at least someone is getting them.

Yes, some are getting LOTS of them while others are getting none at all. In a group I ram with, me and 3 others got nothing at all while the fifth member got 23 cores from the 3 knights. So 23 for 1 person while the other 4 members of the same party get 0.
Yup, nothing wrong here, loot drops look fine to me.

Award-winning Strategy for Knight loots

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Pro tip, when you see “strategies” like this posted, just ignore them.
The events are bugged, there is no possible way the drops can be working as intended. Everyone and their grandma seems to have a theory but many of these theories cancel each other out. Just keep complaining until the devs decide to take notice and give us an answer. Myself? I have stopped doing the events, not going to waste my time.
If you all remember, this was the same thing that was happening with the rest of the champs. The devs told us they would drop guaranteed loot, but they where dropping nothing at all. It took months for them to admit there was a problem and fix it. Since this is a limited time event, don’t hold your breath, it will be easier for them to just continue to ignore us until the event is over.

Knights give too much loot

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: ShiningSquirrel.3751

ShiningSquirrel.3751

That is just someone’s guess, no one knows for sure what the issue is. If I fight a knight, defeat it, but another group fails, is it fair that the people who defeated their knight get nothing?

Regardless a bug does not therefore mean that the rewards are roperly balanced.

When did I say or imply anything like that? Ofc you should get rewards. I just feel that the rewards poorly balanced.

I knew from the start when I wrote this I would get a lot of people upset about not getting rewards/wanting easy loot… but again… it’s not mutually exclusive. Some people have difficulty keeping two different concepts apart in their heads : /

You said you would rather see the lot given at scarlet instead of the knights, that requires the other teams to do their jobs so if 1 fight fails, no one gets anything.
Also, I have to laugh at this “massive loot” you keep talking about. I got the chests once and only once. They contained a few greens and blues. I probably made 1 few silver after salvaging them all. Pretty much vender/salvage trash. Maybe what they should do is limit the amount some accounts can receive per day so those of us who are not getting anything can keep trying, and those like you who think they are getting too much will not get as much. If it really bothers you, just trash the chests you get or gift the items to a player who got nothing at all. This is just like the people complaining about to many ascended materials dropping. Some of us can’t get enough of them but because other players do not need them, they want the drop rate nerfed.
In the end it’s easy, if you think the loot is too much just stop doing the event and go do something else.

in Account & Technical Support

As others have said, there is no reason to delete an account.
You purchased the game and have a right to play it, by deleting your account, you would in effect no longer have access to something you purchased and that could cause legal issues for Anet. A game like GW2 with no subscription is not the same as a game where you have to pay monthly.
Also, there is no reason to post here. You opened a ticket, so you need to go through support, no one here can answer your question or help you. It is also discouraged opening a ticket and then immediately posting it here on the forums as well.

ShiningSquirrel.3751

What I read in another post it’s that it’s too many people trying to loot at once, not that rewards aren’t being given. It’s not out of line, you personally having loot issues does not mean that they don’t reward too many champ boxes. It’s not like those two are mutually exclusive or anything. Is putting the bigger reward at the part that takes more effort/skill really a nerf btw? Seems more like just a balance change…

That is just someone’s guess, no one knows for sure what the issue is. If I fight a knight, defeat it, but another group fails, is it fair that the people who defeated their knight get nothing?

They only drop crap anyway! And that’s even if you’re lucky enough to be in a group that is able to actually kill them!

Let’s see what loot I got from them … 172% magic find btw … nothing but greens, best item rare “Corrupted Core”. \o/

I am yet to receive a single upgrade component for my backpack.

I’ve gotten Rares (as drops) + (from champ boxes) T5/T6 mats + rares/exotics + multiple event cores… and received loot from every single one. That’s hardly crap.

I’ve never been in an overflow that failed to kill at least the knights.

MF doesn’t help with items inside of boxes/chests/etc. btw. I wish it did though… I’m @ 307% MF without any guild/food buffs…

Well some of us have gotten next to nothing. 6 chests from a single knight, nothing from an of the others. No cores, no chests, nothing. It is not a matter of how soon they where tagged or the amount of damage as I was more then good on both, so it has to be something else. I am happy for you getting all that nice loot, but asking for a nerf when some of us are getting nothing at all is way out of line.

I do not think they are just trying to cover themselves. When they make a mistake, they admit it.
Are you using any type of macros, keybinds or other software at all when you play? ( something to open/use a stak of something quickly) Have you been standing around in 1 spot performing the same action over and over (example, in LA just running in to the wall/healing while AFK?)

the problem is they are not communicating my account was hacked this morning and i have not even received a automated response. an this guy/gal is at 4 day this is insane

You have already been told it could take as long as 24 hours. It is also the weekend, and you where pointed to this thread. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Not-Getting-Our-Mails-Yahoo-Gmail-Hotmail-and-more/page/2#post3302355

Support does communicate. You should always get an automated response, then it can take anywhere from 3 to 5 days. If you have not heard from a support rep by that time, you post your ticket # in the 3 days or older thread.

the fact is they are not communicating and it is a week day not the weekend and a automated response should be sent upon the submission of a ticket to clarify that it has been received shouldn’t take more than a few hours for it to be generated. now a actual rep i understand takes longer

My mistake, I was thinking this was Sunday as I am home today.
They do send out automated responses, it usually only takes a few minutes to receive but can take up to 24 hours. If you only sent in your ticket this morning, then they are still within the stated time. Also, if you read the thread linked, there have been many issues with ISPs blocking the email, and with all the phishing attempts that can be a very common problem. If your ISP blocks it, well there is really nothing anet can do from their end.
