how do you define “interact”.

Let me post this part first:

So if you use software that interacts with the Guild Wars 2 program, such as a hack or mod, you get banned. The software must either access GW2.exe, or interact with the data stream to Anet’s servers. Voice comms DO NOT interact with the GW2.exe program, nor do they access Anet’s servers.

You can’t use 3rd party software that INTERACTS with Guild Wars 2. Team Speak, Ventrillo, and Mumble are all software yes, but they interact with your computer’s OS. With your interpretation of the rules, you shouldn’t be allowed to have an Anti-Virus prog running in the background, let alone hardware drivers, or even Windows itself.

We figured that only a handful of guilds at most were involved and that the majority did not support this move. Any remarks sent at SBI should be construed to mean “those on SBI who supported this move”

I hope you understand this goes for SoR as well. There are many of us who are appalled by (and, until a couple of hours ago, completely unaware of) this supposed arrangement between a few guilds, and we will never play along with such unsportsmanlike behaviour.

To rectify this situation, SoR should just take a break for the next two days.

Tequatl daily

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

The new Tequatl is a nice example for bad game design. It is supposed to be an open world event, but it does work like a closed raid encounter.

You can not mix those two qualities without kittening off most of the playerbase. The result, the more or less hardcore people get their stuff, then the event becomes deserted.
Some people will be there from time to time, but thanks to its setup, the encounter becomes unbeatalbe for those. In the end, noone will ever bother with it anymore…

If it’s a bad design, why is it that I’ve been able to beat him numerous times, and max out my achievements? The players who get mad are the ones who don’t organize for the fight. Make friends, join guilds, and coordinate.

Insane Prices - Offical Statement?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

I would like to ask for a dev statement about the item prices up on TP.
A legendary is 2000+ gold, okay… We can make it.
BUT
Any BL RNG skin has a price of 200+ g (the Anachrophobia was ~60g few days ago, sure sure no manipulation)
So question is, what you devs think about these prices?
Can the aimed CASUAL players get it within acceptable time standards?
No? So the unique character creation that the game is offically about on level80 is ruined because of these prices? Why TP has no top price limits to stay values touchable for the most of the players – not just those who grind/farm/exploit/hack the game?

(For me, its reachable, but I’m far more than a casual except I will never farm hard for anything – because it would been against my views.)

And why BL Scraps aren’t a sure drop at least of One on a single BL chest use?

P.s.: I’m asking these things sober and calm, just curious about the statement.

There’s no need for any “statement”. The Black Lion Trading Company provides us players with an open market to sell our goods. We players set prices we want, and we players may also put in offers.

If you want something, and that something ends up being worth a lot in the eyes of other players, then you must either pay that price, or hope someone agrees to sell it to you for lower. Simple as that. If you feel that a certain item’s price is untouchable for most players, it’s just working as intended.

And just for clarification, a lot of these items are “luxury items”. As an example, you won’t see me selling my brand new Ford Mustang for $500, no matter how much you want it.

RNG chest items are not fun

in Blood and Madness

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

This is my favorite argument, pointing out that they’re just optional cosmetic items. I realize what they are, most items in this game are meant to be cosmetic once you level cap, maybe less now with Ascended, but the stat difference is pretty slight. The point is, throwing a couple weapon skins in a highly anticipated event that people are excited for and making them daunting to obtain is not really all that fun. It kind of killed some of my excitement for this event, among other things.

And your last point about only wanting these skins because they are rare proves to me that you didn’t read my entire post (which is fair, it was kind of long). My suggestions was to spread out the rewards better, and to make the rewards worth the time spent during the event. A suggestion I made was more skins, ideally a skin for every weapon, that are more easily attainable. I’m not talking roll your face across the keyboard easy, but right now it’s just too much. On top of that, I suggested keeping the super rare items as well, but focus them towards the more subtle or playful items exclusively like back slots, minis, town clothes, and maybe some new kind of items.

So, again, what I’m suggesting is the exact opposite of your kind presumptuous point. I don’t care if every person in the game has 50 of every single skin, if I like the skin, then I will find enjoyment in getting and using them. If I complete the clock tower, why shouldn’t I get a cool Halloween skin? Why shouldn’t they throw some weapon skins on the Halloween meta achievements similar to the Zenith skins? I mean would you really be opposed to more rewards that are spread out across the event?

Ok, allow me to counter your post in a few points:

1) You want skins to be more easily available. Fair enough. That’s your personal feelings on that matter. However, due to the fact that some of these skins are exclusive, Anet will never make “easy mode” to get them. Why? Once you allow a majority of the population to obtain said item, they’re no longer exclusive. Why do you think there’s not thousands of listings for the new themed weapon skins on the TP? They’re hard to get, thus they’ll cost more to buy off of other players.

2) As I said, if you REALLY want one of the new skins, buy it outright from the Trading Post. You just need to pay what I feel it’s worth. If you won’t pay my price, feel free to post a Buy Offer at a lower rate, and hope it get’s filled.

3) Zenith skins were made to appease the players who wanted fancy skins for free. Note that because they are so common, no one cares about them as much as, say, the Bat Greatsword skin.

4) You may not care if everyone has 50 of each skin. I do. I don’t want my rare and exclusive skin to be shared by everyone. It ruins the item’s “awe factor”, and doesn’t make me as much money when I sell them. The fact that you want the skin so bad proves that it’s desirable, thus justifies the prices that I ask for on the TP.

RNG chest items are not fun

Clearly you didn’t realize that there are other options. If you don’t like RNG Chests to get an optional item that only offers cosmetic differences, you can always buy one from the Trading Post. Then, you get your item, and I get my Gold. Everyone is happy!

And one more thing. The reason why you want it so bad is because it’s rare and exclusive. If everyone were able to get something, it would be as desirable as when it were only RNG or high priced. Rarity is one of the factors that drives demand.

Clockwork Boss -- Why is it so hard...

in Twilight Assault

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

Bugs aside, the final boss is actually quite simple. He has one main attack, the front AOE slam. His tell is his arm up in the air while it charges for a couple of seconds. As long as you’re behind him, or know how to dodge properly, you’ll never be hit.

And as for the Hologram enemies that you need to explode on him, have someone with Pull or Knockback (Pull skills are better IMO) in your party. Only 1 person needs to aggro the Hologram. They’ll chase you across the map, but you use the Pull or Push skill to get them right up to the boss. Then basically you kill them, and the explosion gives you 30 seconds of DPS time.

Possible character or item restoration

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Smooth Penguin.5294

Smooth Penguin.5294

~snip~

Anet will not restore your character. Account restorations are reserved for people with hacked accounts, and there’s a strict guideline as to whom would qualify. By the admission that your own family member did this, from your own computer, automatically excludes you from this service.

How do I know this? When Anet looks into the game logs, (I assume) they will see that there was no outside 3rd party accessing your account. So if there was a breach of someone’s PC from inside the same home, there’s no way to tell if you or someone else made the mistake, and are just trying to claim a restoration for said mistake.

As for a signed letter. It doesn’t matter if your sister signs a letter admitting guilt, as that isn’t proof of anything. If Anet would allow that, that means anyone would be able to simply write a letter, have it signed in another name, and get an account restoration. There’s no way for them to tell if the letter is legitimate, or if the person signing even exists (i.e. My letter is signed by Baron von Scrufflebutt, for real!)

I would suggest that you never store your login information on a computer that can be access by other friends or family members. Sorry for your loss.

So Anet artificially lowers the gem to gold rate to prevent flipping but they claim they don’t manipulate the market…

Interesting.

On the contrary, it’s a mechanism that prevents manipulation. Anet was smart to do this, because experienced investors like myself would have had a field day on playing the exchange.

No, they aren’t the same

That’s true that WvW and SPvP aren’t the same. WvW is a 3 way battle between worlds (servers), and has PvE elements in it. SPvP is a pure battle of skill and strategy in an enclosed setting with a small group of players.

The key here is that SPvP in enclosed in its own system. You don’t need to upgrade, since everyone plays on the same level, with the same gear type. I can understand why content in the Open World might not affect you if you do only SPvP.

WvW relies more on the economy, having a Trading Post in all battlegrounds, as well as merchants, crafting stations, and weapon/armor vendors. There, you don’t get everything for free.

So then you’re actually contradicting yourself. WvW and SPvP require doing the same content over and over. In WvW, you attack and capture Keeps, as well as fight other players. In SPvP, you attack and claim flags. The incentive here is that you’re trying to win a competition.

Smooth Penguin.5294

I’d say that two major things they could do to improve the overall game is eliminate RNG entirely and remove DR from the open world.

I will now address the problems with your idea.

1) Eliminating RNG means you also eliminate the rarity system. This kill the game, as once you provide a guaranteed way to get something, there’s no further need to do the content over. Then a short while later, all players will have the same items, and completely run out of things to do.

2) Removing DR hurts the economy. Certain players would benefit from continuous runs, allowing them unlimited income potential. Other players with limited time can’t complete, thus a huge wealth gap is created. The players that can afford to play more will have more available money, and will then control the Open Market. Inflation will be rapid, and all casual type players will hurt more.

Both these ideas are bad for the game, and will never happen.

Why would I want to be forced to do content again? Secondly, nothing in this game requires tons of gold.

So what you’re saying is that you want to do something just once. And when you’ve done everything in the game just once, do you quit? Players need an incentive to do something. Without it, the game becomes stale, and then dies. All game companies know this.

And I’m sorry I can’t point out what’s wrong with your second point. I’d have to explain how the economy works, and that would more time than I have ATM. I would recommend visiting the Black Lion Trading Company forums. We have regular discussions about the economy there.

It’s pretty black and white here. You may not post or communicate any player’s real world information (name, address, account name, telephone number, etc.) through the Guild Wars 2 Game or websites.

If you don’t understand this, allow me to try and explain. You are a player in this game. The rule states that you may not share any player’s real world information. Therefore, you may not share your information. But if you do, then it’s up to Anet to decide what the consequences are for you.
