I spent 2 hours in the Silverwastes

Pretty fun, I earned 5g, and a ton of crests, and then I just kind of thought ‘ok, now what’ and went back to my 100% completion goal

I don’t have anything to buy with the money, I have literally zero interest in either bow legendary and I didn’t pick this character to use a greatsword

My guild is nice enough, but with no > 5 man content it’s kind of like, why am I in a guild exactly? I can do a dungeon or fractal or content solo or in a pug, so other than having the same people to talk to, I don’t get it

The 100% completion will keep me busy, but other than that I don’t see a reason to log on

It’s kind of an analog really: 1 -> 80 is a single player JRPG or WRPG storyline, and then you beat the game. Now you just have a bunch of side quests and 100% achievements to get for your PSN or XBL score, but there’s really nothing beyond that and there’s no point to any of it because you don’t have anything to do with any gear you get

The big, open world 200 man pug dailies and events I can basically right click and tab out and look at stuff then tab in 3 minutes later and get a chest

There’s no DPS logs, I have no idea how my damage compares to others, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason to try to improve because, again, there’s no end game or goal in sight

You pretty much answered your own questions in the above post. It really doesn’t sound like this game is for you, especially with the ‘get to 80, beat the game’ attitude. That is not what this mmorpg is about, and you’ll obviously be seriously disappointed with the game if you approach it that way.

I suggest, as others have, that you look for a more linear mmorpg. Or maybe even just a single player fps game with online abilities to group with a few of your friends.

Best of luck finding a game that is better suited to your playstyle!

I’ve never complained about building siege in open field fight. I’m only pointing to the fact that CD does build siege before the fight. Not every time. And the guy who talked about it probably wanted to troll you. lol. Because it is funny that 40 men zerg building siege against 20 men in open field fight.

You can screenshot of Kaineng building 4 balistas to defend the camp. I would love to see it. I don’t see there’s anything wrong with it anyway. I would ask those guys why not AC behind the balista.

Again not once has CD built open field siege on your borderland.
It’s okay though, i can see coming in here with good intentions praising some of your groups was wrong as the majority of your server seems to have a defeatist attitude and will exaggerate till they are blue in the face.

Added a screenshot of your servers love of open field siege, this is take from a guildmates perspective. It’s cute that you needed 4 of them for the Sentry.

Seriously? You come to the conclusion that Kaineng is defeatist from a few posts here?

Great research.

CD does have 40+ in EB.

Maybe it was just a small zerg of 10 mesmers with all their clones up?

Seriously, tho….CD has been overwhelming this week….which we were expecting.

Hopefully we will have GoM again next week.

Kaineng rising from the dead.....

@Teon: SIN always likes to see new people, and have people to roam with And every SN that I’ve encountered outside of zergs have been nice chaps and willing to try stuff. I don’t really run much in zergs, so can’t comment on that.

Yup, that has been exactly my experience in wvw with SN and SIN. Both seem to be very good wvw guilds.

I remember one time I was out in Kaineng wvw a while back, and this guild(not SN or SIN) was running a small group…the commander kept yelling for peeps to join TS, so I finally did…..and they immediately started acting like I was some sort of spy…..finally one of them chimed in, ‘nah, he is from RAW….he is cool’……I just laughed and got out of TS and cleared out of the group. That is probably the worst thing I have ever run into in Kaineng wvw.

I rarely get into groups where the commander is being an obvious kitten…..and those sorts of groups do pop up occasionally. Saw one like that last week where the commander is a total kitten….and the people who run with him criticize him all the time…..but found out from one of my guild mates who told me that they’re all in the same small guild and do that all the time in wvw just to mess with peeps…..my guild mate said that most peeps just ignore them. (you probably know who I am talking about…..lol)

So we do have some jerks out there, as do all servers in wvw……but for the most part, I find Kaineng wvw to be more tolerant and nicer for the most part. Probably just because we don’t have huge numbers….so one sees less jerks.

Kaineng rising from the dead.....

We have started climbing, and that means
A) Players first trying WvW don’t find it dead and leave
B) People will transfer to our server since we have a decent blend of small group/solo and some zerg mechanics
HOWEVER, this is just the beginning. Kaineng has a bright future despite what many people may believe. True, we have risen and fallen in the past months, but this time it will be different. The remaining guilds we have are long item standing guilds that didn’t rise up over night like AXME or RAGE, not to shame those guilds, they are great guilds. However, they rose up very AST and felt restrained by the standings and slow growth of Kaineng, so they left, and I don’t blame them for it. The guilds we have now (SN, SIN, Owls, and KPD) have all been around for a long time in Kaineng and have slowly developed through the highs and lows.
Our small groups are getting great practice fighting against competent groups in CD and are beginning to improve in group synergy in pressing fights and outnumbered situations against skilled groups. More players are logging on daily in our down times (day time). This means that our small groups that hold stuff and keep enemy objectives paper for our night cap/upgrade have help and soon will become a competent force.
Overall, things are looking up. Expect to see some skilled play out of kaineng in the near and far future
P.S. If u like roaming and want to find a good server to roam on with a good community, whisper me in game

I’m not convinced those four guilds you named are friendly enough with each other to continue rising. Kaineng has some crazy inter-guild politics that need to be worked out before you can look to be stable. Way too dramatic.

Not sure if I agree with that. Yea, I transferred away from Kaineng for a couple months, but I was around for a long time before then, and those guilds never seemed to mind people joining in their groups out in wvw. Over the last few days, I have joined several groups run my SN and SIN and never have been rebuffed or bullied for doing that.

I tend to think that most of these guilds realize that Kaineng needs numbers, and the best way to do that is to welcome people into wvw groups with open arms. I know that doesn’t exist all the time, no matter what server…..even Kaineng……..but Kaineng has always seemd to me to be a bit more welcoming when it comes to wvw……as we need peeps.

Maybe it is just who I run with…..past and present……..but I never seen the problem that you have mentioned in your post.

We’re certainly nothing like T3 or T2 in the way of politics in wvw.

Long live Kaineng!!!!

Kaineng rising from the dead.....

in WvW

Teon.5168

I’m from AR and both our server and Kaineng has moved up primarily because of two reasons:

The first one is that our servers have kept its core prime times (NA for AR, OCX/SEA for Kaineng) so we field enough during our primes, not sure about Kaineng but they’re online when everyone else is offline.

The second reason is that many other servers have plummeted over the past 2-3 months. SF, SoR, BP, DR, I think FC lost SNKY, can’t remember correctly and just recently ET is on their way down. With all those servers moving down due to losing players, it only made sense we moved up on the board since we haven’t had any major losses recently.

Kaineng won the last match up because like Big Boss said, they PVD while everyone else is asleep. I can’t really blame them since they’ve been that odd server in Bronze Tier in terms of prime time. I don’t think any other server in Bronze at the moment has any major OCX/SEA to fight Kaineng with, which is why they are where they are now lol.

Good luck Kaineng this week, we got CD and I believe they have OCX/SEA coverage if I recall correctly. Either way, GoM needs to come back down next week haha.

Very true…Kaineng has always had a good graveyard squad……..this week it won’t make a whole lot of difference, though, as CD will thump everyone like crazy.

That’s ok, though. I am still happy.

LOL…..this week is more like the Kaineng I remember……but we’re still a couple tiers up from where we were, so it is all good. I don’t mind some kitten thumping when we’re not in the basement.

CD is putting on the thump down big time……..but it is all good, as we’re not in the cellar and still showing some life.

Glad I transferred back to my home. My transfer to FA was fun, but they didn’t need any extra bodies, as they’re doing fine. Kaineng needs peeps in wvw, and I missed my home server too much……..it is fun to be back, no matter how badly we’re getting abused in wvw.

Concern With WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Teon.5168

Also, be really careful upgrading towers and such. Depends on what server you’re on, but if there is a high turnover rate on towers and such, you’re just wasting supplies doing upgrades, when those supplies could go toward siege gear to defend those areas, instead.
You might make a habit of asking in map chat before you upgrade, as commanders will let you know whether it is needed or not.

One of the biggest mistakes players that are new to wvw make is just automatically upgrading a place before asking…….upgrades really drain the supplies, and lots of times they are not needed. Some people will even scream at ya for doing that. (Been there done that when I was a wvw noob)

Also, wvw is NOT pvp. It may seem like it at first, but wvw is a far different beast from standard pvp. Best of luck out there!

Nope, we’re going ot stay in T6 for a while longer, even if we had the slightest chance of beating GoM/AR solidly enough to do so, which we won’t. We where over 200 glicko rating under GoM going into this week, so the glicko needs time to change out before anyone else can get thrown into higher tiers.

We’re having a VERY enjoyable match with AR/GoMmi Bears this week, it is as close as we have ever been in a match-up with our weird coverage. We got a good lead from a strong night cap on monday, and been living on that for the rest of the week.

Next week, GoM is going to learn from this week. And AR will get slightly over the new high of fighting GoM who comes out and fights them (they are in love), and they will both beat up a bit on Kaineng first, and then continue to play with each others, and we won’t have the same advantage in points again.

It will get even closer, and even more fun!

I hope we keep this match-up for a month!

PS: Come back here and protect your motherland you little Ronin!

After transferring my main account to FA for wvw a few weeks back, I did buy a new account when they were on that great sale, so I could help my wife out in Kaineng wvw, as she still has her main account there.

I spent too much time on Kaineng to just completely give up on it, especially since I still belong to a great guild there.

Am currently working on getting a lowbie guardian up(he is almost 30 now), so won’t be too much longer before you see a Metalburn character back out there helping in Kaineng wvw, again. Just look at the treb operators, as that is usually where I start out in wvw before I am a full 80.

(I actually have been out to Kaineng wvw a few times on the new account already……but just for very cautious dailies with my wife.)

Pushy Guild Representation - Right or Wrong?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

Not sure what the conflict is here. If you want to join a guild with 100% rep, then join it. If you don’t want to rep all the time, then join a guild that doesn’t require it. Simple as that.

Nothing is wrong with 100% rep guilds, just as nothing is wrong with guilds that don’t require it. It is a player sort of preference.

The first question I always ask when joining a guild is….do you require 100% rep? I don’t like repping a guild 100% of the time, so I don’t want to join a guild like that. Nothing wrong with that….its just the way I play. I belong to a pve guild and a wvw guild…..neither require 100% rep, and they’re great guilds.

But if you enjoy repping a guild 100%…..cool. That’s the way you like playing, and that is fine, too.

If EotM would be the future of WvW then the PvE’rs can have this bloody game. Us true RvR-players have our sight elsewhere anyway so this is just a stop on the Journey towards out goal, wich exist in another game…

Are you talking about Camelot Unchained? I wouldn’t place too much trust upon that Messiah. Following it closely myself, but their resources are quite small and I feel they might not be able to pull it through.

Lies Mark Jacobs is superman!

This is a joke, but he does actually seem to be a good guy…

Debatable……I played DaoC when he was running that show. He had his pluses and minuses.

Although he was very smart after EA took over the show with Warhammer……he saw the writing on the wall and took the money and ran as far away as he could……

Plus Mark Jacobs is running it. And he has said that he intends it to be an old school hard core RvR style game. I have seen his previous ideas of ‘hardcore’ in mmorpgs, and I would want absolutely no part of it. But I can see where it might appeal to a smaller niche of hardcore RvR’ers. I don’t expect CU to be a huge game, but if it does get made, it would probably have a small(in comparison with the larger mmorpgs) following.

Nicest community?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

Did you notice you just prove my point right?
Make people care, and things will become toxic.
The reason you PVErs don’t behave in a toxic way in PVP is only because you guys don’t care about losing or winning in PVP, all you care is that daily reward.

There’s no such thing as “nice community” when you make people compete with each other.

If this was true, then one would run into the same degree of hostility in WvW that exists in PvP. And that just isn’t the case. WvW is all about winning and losing, and flat out competition, yet people out there are not near as hostile as a lot of the people in pvp.

So I am really not sure what sort of point you’re trying to make with your last sentence.

Actually WvW is another example that proves my point.

Normally people DONT CARE about winning in WvW because there’s literally ZERO reward for winning. But then, you see, when Season tournaments come into play, the true toxicity of the community reveals.

Remember in Season 2 when BG is actually losing, how much flame and toxicity, how much rage posts coming from the BG side? It’s not just BG, many servers trash talk each other. In fact, they trash talk each other too much to the degree that Anet has to remove the match-up sub forum entirely from the official site.

Like I said, reason that some people don’t rage about losing is only because they don’t care. People who rage about losing is because they care too much.

You have some truly bizarre opinions about this game and the people that play it. Not sure what you’re playing, but it most certainly is not the same game I am playing. It is like you’re just making stuff up when someone happens to disagree with you.

/shrug

This is NOT my opinion, it is true historical facts happened in WvW.
If you don’t know about it, you should go search for a little more detail.

True competition does not need nice community, they want the feeling of winning and rewarding. That’s exactly why in PVP people are being a little more hostile toward one another, and it is a very common thing.

This type of issue is not exclusive to GW2, it exists across all types of competitive games. (ESPECIALLY those games who’re focusing on Esport, such as LoL)

My main point is, stop criticizing GW2 pvp community as to “meanest community”, or falsely idolize GW2 pve community as to “nicest community”.
Human nature are all the same.

Now you’re starting to put words in my mouth.

There is really no point in discussing this with you, as you are so completely certain that your viewpoint is the only correct one out there on this subject.

My views of this game, and the many other mmorpgs and their playerbases out there that I have played over the last couple decades are entirely different than yours.

It is as simple as that.

Have a nice day.

They’re not any “nicer”.
They just don’t care, that’s why they’re not angry.
This type of attitude is actually even worse than people who gets mad or sad when they lose. They just simply don’t care about pvp in general, that improvement and regret is not necessary at all.

If you put those people in a world boss that’d fail if the people are not coordinate, and the reward is precursor, they’d suddenly become hostile when they fail. That’s the true nature of human being, simple as that.

Stop imposing those hypocritical theories on other people.

Seems like you haven’t played enough games to realize how bad communities are out there.

You’re absolutely correct on that for people who think that the GW2 community is not very nice.

A lot of the earlier mmorpgs that I played had truly, truly vile communities. I remember doing some trials of atlantis runs in DaoC with this ‘leader’ who was very good at getting the runs done….but man, was he a rough, abusive sort of guy. Felt like the only way to run the group was by screaming at everyone……and that was just one in a vast multitude of those sorts of experiences I have had in all sorts of other, older mmorpgs.

GW2 has, by far, at least in my experience over the last couple years…….the friendliest/most helpful community that I have ever experienced in any mmorpg.

PvP should never not be included in these games, I conclude. It’s a wonderful cesspit for those that like rolling around in vitriol, and keeps them more often out of everyone else’s hair.

If only for that reason, pvp should be included in these games. It gives the bratty kids a place to hang out, rather than coming out to wvw or pve and annoying others there.

That being said, I have met some decent people in pvp….but they rarely ever are people who just play all the time in pvp. I only go to pvp for dailies…..period. When I first started doing some pvp, I was interested in some of the reward lines…..but after having to deal with a very large number of insecure, misogynist, horny, racist little children(that would only behave like that when they have an anonymous character and computer screen to bravely hide behind)……I pretty much avoid pvp, too. Just a quick trip for my daily, and then back to pve/wvw.

Lately though, and I think it is because of the daily change, the people in hotjoin pvp seem to be nicer on average……as they are there for similar reasons as myself…..getting a daily or two and getting out.

However, I find that the pvp lobby chat is still just as caustic/vile on the whole.

In my opinion the mechanics of the game helped a lot to make it a better community. No fighting over harvesting nodes, no loot drama, and no monster tagging. All positive points.

Its almost as good as City of Heroes. Though that game came out years before and did community stuff a great deal better. That game had an awesome community behind it (and that community is still fighting the good fight to get their game or some game like it back to life!). Yes, even better then this one (no disrespect to GW2 community or A-Net, I still play and like it in this game as well). It had all those positive points and more.

I think A-Net is on the right track in mechanics that help build a better community, but I know they have the talents to make it so much more and I hope to see more of it in the future.

Agreed. The fact that there is no kill stealing or camp squatting, etc., makes for a much friendlier community in general. When you can come into an encounter after it has started, help the other player(s) kill the npc, and everyone still gets the same experience/drops for it is a huge thing in encouraging friendly cooperation and play.

When I played DaoC back in the day, things could get very toxic in that game, as kill stealing and camps happened with great regularity and encouraged a cut throat sort of attitude among the community.

Fortunately, GW2 takes a different tact that works quite well, imo.

I have no idea where all these toxic PvPers are. I never did PvP all that often until recently with the Dailies change. I’ll go into Unranked Arena often with a build completely unsuited for PvP, and I’ll see maybe one jerk every 3-4 days. Map and Say chat is pretty silent for the most part. As it is, this is the only online RPG I’ve been part of where I can PvP with any regularity and have a good time.

Most of my bad experiences with pvp hotjoin players was before the dailies change. Since the dailies change, I have noticed a far better attitude in pvp hotjoin. I think it is mainly due to the fact that a lot of those hotjoin people now are just regular players(like me) trying to get their dailies quickly and with a minimal of fuss. Not to say that there still aren’t jerks, but they have been in lesser numbers lately. I notice most of the jerks now in the pvp lobby on map chat.

I’ve tried play PvP in other games and this games. There are annoying people in both arenas but frankly, I prefer the Guild Wars 2 crowd to most of the other games I’ve played.

I should mention hot join is actually worse than solo queue, if you haven’t tried it. Many of the trolls end up in hot join.

Yup, there are some real charmers in hot join pvp…..lol. I always seem to encounter the worst people just after school lets out during the day. Seems like the really insecure youngsters are on in the largest numbers between the hours of 1-4pm, west coast time.

That being said, I find the GW2 community, overall, to be very friendly, for the most part. Certainly better than a lot of other mmos that I have played.

Final Review of GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Teon.5168

Funny….I have played wvw for quite some time now, with nothing but exotic gear and some ascended trinkets. I have never felt like I have been disadvantaged…..I have lots of fun in wvw and am quite successful most of the time. When I do lose, it is either from being outnumbered or the other player has more skill in wvw than I do, or I make some stupid mistakes during a battle.

If you were doing 1v1 all the time in wvw, maybe…..MAYBE…..having full ascended gear would make a slight, very slight difference. But even then, a more skilled player in exotic gear is still going to beat you even if you are in full ascended.

The only place I have heard that ascended actually makes a difference is in fractals.

Is really too bad the OP had a preconceived notion that wvw was only good with the highest gear. Not true. Not true at all.

That is the really nice thing about GW2. You don’t have to be a gear min/maxxer to succeed in most elements of the game.

But then again, it didn’t really sound like you were that attached to the game when all it took for you to delete the game was to read that ascended gear had some slight statistical advantages over exotic. Certainly not very good research on your part……but those last couple of paragraphs in your post read like you were looking for an excuse to dump the game, anyways.

Best of luck in your next game.

How much FPS do you get in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

I have a much older computer with a 7850 radeon vid card(overclocked) and an older amd Athlon quad core cpu running around 3200 mhz(also overclocked). I normally average around 50-70 fps….and then around 20 fps in huge zergs. I have graphics set on high, except fxaa turned off, shaders turned down, lod turned down, and character models turned down. I can run everything on high in most pve zones, but find that my current settings(as listed above) are a nice middle road setting for all aspects of the game.

If I run high graphic levels, I have to be sure to turn things down before getting into wvw or large zerg pve events. So the middle of the road settings I use above seem to work well without hurting the graphics much.

I dislike paying for season 2

in Living World

Teon.5168

Hang on, let me just log into my 100 or so games in my library “Just in case” there is temporary content that later becomes buy to play.

The way people talk is as if there is only one game on the market.

Also I was not even around for the living story one, but that does not bother me and you might think “why?”. Simple, it is no longer available to anyone. There is no scammy cash-in on it. It was an event within the game for free and never changes.
If living story s2 was unavailable and you could not buy it, that would also not bother me.
If you cannot see the disrespect from Anet by this method of cashing-in then I really feel sorry for you when(not if) you get screwed over by Anet or any other future company.

Some people are also under the impression that everyone who has not unlocked the chapters were available to be around. Imagine if you have never played Gw2 and you see the “buy once play forever”. There is nowhere that it says “When you buy Gw2 you must also purchase living story chapters” But it still mentions the living story as playable content.
Now tell me, what’s your excuse for Anet then? Please enlighten me on how Anet are so respectful to their customers by not telling them about the living story costs.

So it is Anet’s fault that you have 100 games in your library? And how can you possibly have that many games with your incredibly time consuming job?

Interesting.

You apparently also missed the “gaming experience may change at any time” (or some similar phrase along those lines) statement that appears in every mmorpg’s eula.

I guess you also missed the other 200+ threads on this subject where it was explained, thoroughly, that you don’t have to purchase the chapters you missed……just find someone who has done them who is willing to take you through them. I know, that’s way too easy.

But hey, knock yourself out thinking that your opinion on this all is the only correct one out there.

solution to dead servers in WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

Sorrows Furnace is possibly the most empty NA server, so that may be a part of the problem. Most of the low tier servers aren’t as bad off as the people in t1-3 think. It is a place where people who don’t like zerging go. Yes there are occasional Zergs, but it’s fun to try to zerg bust On Kaineng, we just left t8, and have perfectly fine coverage.
Another tip is to find an active WvW guild that suits the playstyle you like. There are guilds for zerging/larger groups, havoc groups, and roaming. Ask around in map chat, I doubt you will be entirely ignored, unless SF is THAT dead (I know you guys are in a pretty bad spot). If all else fails, transfer, Kaineng will take you
P.S. If you don’t like fighting outmanned, than low tier roaming isn’t for you

Sure am glad to hear that about Kaineng. It is my original server, and even though I am enjoying my recent transfer to T2, I miss Kaineng wvw, as everyone out there always tried so hard, even when it had gotten so deserted. Plus, I was there for such a long, long time.

I still belong to the guild on Kaineng, and they have been telling me the same thing…..that Kaineng is improving in wvw.

Makes me smile a lot to know that.

…I can tell you the lower population servers won’t be buying an expansion. If the expansion is needed for WvW the people will leave.

That’s a mighty broad brush you’re using to paint with.

Most of the guild I belong to on Kaineng(a very low pop wvw server) says they’re going to buy the expansion….and others I have talked to on Kaineng have also said the same thing.

So using your above logic, I can confidently say that all low pop servers will be buying the expansion.

There is still a big problem with GW2...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Teon.5168

Teon.5168

OP should change the title of the thread to “I have a problem with GW2 battle mechanics”……as it is obviously a subjective problem. If the OP is having that many problems playing an ele, I don’t understand why he/she doesn’t switch to trying an easier(keyboard/mouse wise) sort of character, rather than just being stubbornly frustrated with an ele and thinking one has to do some sort of absurd attunement dance. Yea, an ele can be a bit more difficult, but one rarely has to use even close to all the attunement skills that an ele is given to play one effectively.

I find them to be very fun characters to play, because they require a bit more skill and focus to play well, especially in wvw. And the attunements are basically for different sorts of battle situations and/or combatants. You don’t enter every battle thinking you have to use all 4 attunements during that battle…..you will ALWAYS be frustrated with the ele if you approach it in that way.

Try another, easier on the keys toon so you can get used to the combat system first. After doing that, I think you’d be less frustrated with the ele, unless you’re stubbornly convinced that you have to use all the attunements.

And on the subject of battle mechanics…..GW2 is far better and easier than most mmorpgs. And yea, you moved around a lot while in combat in those other mmorpgs, too. Some of the older mmorpgs got just absurd with how many different specials, abilities, etc that you had to use during combat.

Not trying to be offensive or cruel, OP. Just be patient, try and get used to the combat mechanics, be creative with your specials and such, and don’t feel like you have to use all of them……kick back and enjoy the game…..learn from your frustrations, and try an easier character first if your frustration with the ele outweighs your fun with it.

And I also agree with those that recommended mapping different actions to different keys and mouse buttons, if possible. The defaults that are setup in the game are not the best for most people. Also, I agree with getting programmable mouses/keyboards that make gaming easier for a lot of people. Even a fairly simple, extra buttons somewhat programmable mouse makes a big difference for some players.

Best of luck!

One suggestion, Taygus. It might not be just your internet connection. Check also for programs running in the background, such as an antivirus program. You might have an antivirus program that takes up a lot of overhead…….try turning it off while you run the game…..also turn off any other programs that may be running in the background. Might also try changing your graphics to ‘performance’ setting.

These things might help with your lagging. Might not, too….but is worth a try.

Taygus, you mentioned lag in one of your posts. Could this be the major contributing factor in why parts of the game are frustratingly difficult….because your computer and/or internet connection can’t keep up? I know of a couple times when I have had lag in huge boss fights, and it causes me nothing but frustration, because my actions in game don’t happen when I do them on my computer…..that only happens in huge boss fights for me…….does your lag happen on a fairly regular basis in game?

And I am by no means telling you how to play the game or what you should like or how you should do something ……..just wondering if maybe your lag problems are at the center of your frustration with the game?

no doubt lag plays a part…I have a dodgy internet connection, so it affects all aspects of game play.

I get surprised if I don’t lag xD

I think that is the main problem with the game, then, for you. I have played lots of mmorpgs in the past, and had a few that were horrible…..due to my poor internet connection or a low grade video card I had at the time……I don’t have those troubles anymore with my fiber optics internet connection and a good specced computer…..except on boss fights when there are 200+ people…..and EVERYONE lags during those…..

But I understand your lag issues……makes it very, very difficult to truly experience any online game without sheer frustration becoming a very real issue.

You don’t suck at the game…….your internet connection does.

Ok no .. just no

Anet pumps out LS content pretty much every 2 weeks (not counting breaks of) and if you log just for a second you can get it FREE

I’ll give somethe benefit of doubt and say pc broke down. If you want to play the content you can pay 200 gems so.. $2.50 … since you cant buy gems per dollar you have to just buy 800 gems which is $10 … dude thats pretty kittenin cheap to get 4 LS episodes (a good few hours of content) OR one episode and something shiny.

Ok now lets say you are a little kitten cash and $10 is somehow too much. As of right now 11gems=1g. 200/11 = 18g 18s 19c. (Its 18.18182 in case you cant see the maths) now just round that up to the next gold, 19g.

19gold . . . This is stupid easy to get <.< and tbh you will probably only really have to grind out for the first episode because througout the episode you will get loot and can sell for gold.

So ANet has given you four options:
Log in for 2s per 2weeks for FREE
Buy 4 for $10 or buy 1-3 and get other stuff
Play the F###ing game and getting a very minimal amount of gold
Have a friend host the instance for FREE

And for a fifth, additional option… kitten

Side note: sorry for being toxic in this post but this crap is my #1 pet peive when it comes to gamers
And if you need assistance or some tips for getting 19g feel free to PM me in game or here on the forums >.>

Well said. Spot on post.

Obviously, you have also been away from the forums for 2 years. This forum has tons of dark nights on it that will whine about anything and everything. If you did a search on this subject, you would literally find hundreds of threads of people screaming about this very thing.

Plus, it doesn’t matter if you had real life issues that kept you away from the game. The game isn’t going to stop for you or anyone else in that sort of situation. To expect it to is completely unrealistic. And as has been already said here on this thread, you DON’T have to pay for the past stories…..you can exchange gold for gems to get them, or just hook up with some people who have already done it. (There are tons of people in game that are willing to help others with that…..you just have to ask and be a bit patient)

The mastery stuff sounds similar to the Trials of Atlantis expansion that was introduced for Dark Age of Camelot back in the day when DaoC was popular(I know, I know…..dating myself…lol).

If it is done correctly, it will be very cool and worthwhile to do. Hopefully they don’t follow DaoC’s example.

Guys, I was super excited at the PAX South announcement, but now that I’m seeing more and more of the new systems, I’m suddenly gripped by an unshakeable fear that things won’t be as ridiculously awesome as I think I deserve, and I’m terrified that I’ll have to work to achieve character progression, and why can’t all the content be instantly accessible and infinite in quantity?? The sky is starting to fall again! I swear it’s really happening this time! /s

tl;dr could we all stop instantly speculating about how bad things might (but probably won’t) be? I swear after every new announcement the forum fills up with “my concerns about X” and it’s ludicrous. if you’re scared of becoming less interested in a video game, you should just be grateful for how easy your life must be.
