it’s obviously not possible to get everything lol
What? It’s obviously possible to obtain all the skins. Why are we completely ignoring the ability to purchase the skins from the TP?
If it was pure skill. I could see some indication of where traps are.
Who’s claiming this? Who’s spreading this notion that Tribulation Mode would NOT require trial-and-error through death?
Requiring skill isn’t the same thing as it being requiring ONLY skill.
Do you not see that this is trial and error, and not based on skill.
They are not mutually exclusive. It requires both trial and error, memorization of patterns, and a certain aptitude in jumping.
But skill will not help the player avoid then the first time playing Tribulation Mode.
I think you missed the point of the design, then. It’s not meant for people to be able to avoid death in the first try. As Josh Foreman said himself, death itself is part of the learning process.
Random mines and spike pits underground that can not be seen, is dying for no reason.
I don’t understand.
The lava and spike pits are not random. They’re at the same position every single time you go. Hence, not random.
And they are the reason why you die, hence you do die for a reason.
You can still jump in between getting knocked around. If timed correctly and if you’re at a good spot, you can even recover and not waste a life.
If you’re experiencing your character slowly losing 1/2 a heart each time, it’s probably because you’re not taking advantage of the fact that you can jump in between the knockbacks. If you’re near a ledge or rock, jump on it. If not, jump to a more open area so you get flushed away faster.
When you die, you die for a very good reason.
Also, there’s some incredibly difficult jumps in there even if you know everything. Check out Woodenpotatoe’s attempt. Many times he died on jumps he knew exactly where to jump to.
So rather than do the content, do repetitive grind and buy it off the TP. I thought this wasn’t Grind Wars 2? Can you grind champ chests and then go buy all the CoF skins? No, you have to do the content. This is not consistent.
Gold gives options to people who don’t want to do the content but still want the rewards. Crafting skins, for example, are readily accessible to those who don’t like crafting. Yes, there are account-bound skins. There’s also a plethora of non-account-bound skins, Legendaries chief amongst them.
It’s similar here. If you don’t wish to do World 2, then gold is there as an option for you. Even earning gold is pretty varied if you don’t like repetition. Do multiple dungeon paths. CoF 1/2, SE 1/3, AC 1/3, CoE 1/2/3, are all easy paths done in under 20 minutes. Each gives you up to ~1G50s (2G for AC) from loot/gold drops. Do World Event bosses. Each is guaranteed a rare, which is around 30s now, on top of all the greens/blues. You can usually fit in ~6-8 world events in an hour depending on how lucky you are. Farm champs a bit in Frostgorge, that’s pretty self-explanatory. Craft things with skill points and sell them for profit. Do invasions when they pop up.
Gold gives you options. More options are always good.

There will be no lasers/golems if someone beat it before hand, and it hasn’t reset yet.
If you want all the skins, then of course you have to put in the appropriate amount of effort. This effort can be running the more difficult portion of SAB, or farming in the open world for gold (SAB weapon skins aren’t that expensive.)
Spekk’s lab always had the death lasers and the golems at the end. And if you died there, if did not auto-rez you. It has always been this way.

And then a dev claiming that the people complaining about the magical offset attack hitboxes are just crying when they meet the smallest amount of resistance, before finally buckling under the deluge and admitting that, yes, there are issues that need some work.
Uh..
You may be right. I think it’s too early to tell. Some number of people hit a little resistance and quit and come to complain about it. And some number hit that same resistance and are inspired to overcome it and they are in the game right now doing that. I don’t have a good sense of those numbers are right now. I’m more than happy to adjust it when I have better data to work from. Thanks for your feedback.
If you sincerely believe Foreman’s comments were dismissing complaints, you’re deluding yourself.

The arrow traps. Gasp, figured it out. Doesn’t mean they are fun or not cheap. Squinting for black lines on a wall in rooms painted with black and red is not my idea of fun. Nor is it good for one’s eye sight with such eye strain.
The trap placement never changes. The few outside the buildings are pretty easy to memorize, but the ones in the gong tower, it’s very helpful to map it once on a piece of paper and draw out a safe route so you don’t have to squint every single time.
Losing control is something few players like.
Prolonged death is also. Both of those are in the rapids.
I personally found the rapids great, just because depending on how I fell I had a decent chance at recovering and not losing a life outright. You still retain a bit of control, and the prolonging of it allows you wiggle room to rally from the situation.

They should include a disclaimer on the Infinite Continue Coin : warning, buying this item will deprive you of part of the enjoyment of the SAB tribulation mode by removing the need to grind continues before you tackle it.
It’s there as an option for people who don’t enjoy it, and wish to pay to skip this portion.

Continue coins are for the weak. Also, I’m pretty sure was promised I wouldn’t have to grind to enjoy the game somewhere.
The whole point of Tribulation mode is that the players derive enjoyment from the challenge itself. And part of the challenge, as Josh Foreman said on this forum, was to farm up resources in preparation to tackle the challenge.

Yeah well, when they talked about Tribulation mode, I didn’t expect to find a mode where I’d be killed by random stuff every 10s and forced to exit the instance every two deaths and go back from the start, losing all the checkpoint progress, waiting for two loading screens, waiting for the vote to select TM difficulty etc…
Then farm continue coins so you have 5 lives, and learn what’s killing you.
There is nothing random about the things that kill you in Tribulation mode. If you are incapable of learning what’s killing you and are unable to adapt to the source of death, then Tribulation mode is likely not for you.
I know how it works. But my timing is always off. I always get killed by the waves and tongues. Not even going to try it. I’d rather do what ANet doesn’t want me to do, farm levels 1 and 2 with stray bubbles. Or rather, that’s what they do want me to do…
Well, if you can’t time your dodges, you can, as I said, stay on the small lilypads when the frog does his shockwaves, so you don’t have to dodge at all. Just go in when he’s peering down, hit a few times, and skedaddle away when he stomps. Come back, pick up the jewel, run away again. Then when he opens his mouth, toss it in and you don’t have to dodge.
You can beat the Frog without a single dodge. Good luck.
That is, if you actually know how to kill that frog solo. Which I don’t.
The frog has a very predictable attack pattern.
1. When he looks at his right foot, he will stomp with his right foot.
2. When he looks at his left, he will stomp with his left.
3. When he looks down, he will stomp with both.
When he does these, in the time interval when he is “looking” hit his pendant to create jewels. Pick one up, and hide in the lilypads where the shockwaves don’t reach you.
Then when he looks left/right/left, he will then open his mouth. Toss the jewel into his mouth. Then he will be “dazed” and you will be able to damage him. If you fail, he’ll do a tongue-sweep if, timed right, you can simply dodge through.
Happy hunting.
That my friend is when they decide to slap a subscription fee onto this game once the cash shop begins to falter.
Sure. I’ll bet you 50G this won’t happen.

Hey Josh,
Just beat Zone 2, and the difficulty is SPOT ON. Nerfs may be needed, but please don’t be overzealous! I love it! You and your beard and your chest and everything!
The needle traps are AMAZING. It forced me to do quite a bit of thinking and planning and mapping out patterns on paper, something I haven’t done in YEARS. Incredibly satisfying.
Until they rephrase the infinite coin to say ‘infinite continues in world 1 and 2’.
I’ll bet you 50G they don’t =)
Login Tokens are the next big thing, at least if ANet continues the trend.
Literally speaking, your original purchase is the login token.
Gear is not content.
The SAB sure as hell is content.
I skipped it the first time. I’m going to skip it again…and I do have nostalgia for 8-bit video games. I refuse to run anything that is ‘suggested: 5 players’. I don’t do content that forces me to form a party with others.
You could have done it solo, and you can still do it solo.
You can pretty easily solo or duo Teq/Shatterer, the fights themselves aren’t that hard, it’ll just take a bit longer. If you want to avoid people at all costs, just transfer or guest to a lower-pop server. For example, Teq/Shat were really empty while the invasions were going on. At max you got like ~10 people doing the events, so it’s very reasonable.
Go to Lion’s Arch. Every race’s capitol city has a portal to it. Then take the portal to Rata Sum.
what’s so wrong about being rich?
The plebeians hate you.
If it was announced, prices most likely would’ve changed drastically within minutes of the said announcement, and people still would’ve been screwed.
i.e. ecto prices after Lindsey Murdock’s livestream introducing ascended weapons.
Question: If I wanted Berserker stats, but didn’t like the red color and wanted a blue color, is crafting two ascended weapons the ONLY way to get the color & stat you wanted? Or is there some other better way?
Thank you for the data!
Event failure no longer rewards karma...

Yeah, as if we weren’t already buying enough of them on the road to legendary… Karma just became a HUGE gate. Well played ANET, well played…
Just FYI, it’s a pretty common complaint that karma was way too easy to get, and had minimal things to actually use on.
I’m personally sitting pretty on 5 million karma with absolutely nothing to spend it on. This is a great change.

Also, now that obsidian shards are required for ascended crafting, I imagine quite a bit of karma will be drained after this update.
Since July 8th, bronze ingot at about 24c to today at 88c, and thats about the same for every other resource. This is a basic resource that is apart of alot if items that also get raised in prices. This is a problem for all the new people coming in.
So yea, economy is jacked up.
Not every single player is a consumer of materials. Many of them are sellers, as evidenced by the sheer amount of said materials on sale.
Yup. I created a Sunrise for my Guardian alt, because I don’t like any of the Legendaries of the weapons my Ranger uses a lot.
And the same problem exists. The gift giver gives more what they want to give, instead of what the receiver is likely to enjoy.
Well yea. That’s not my point though. My point was more directed at the user who tried to compare the free gift to a dead rat. It’s a pretty bad analogy.
In that case, give me your address and I’ll go find a dead rat and mail it to you, as a gift.
It’s free.
The difference being a dead rat has very real and serious negative consequences. The rotting smell, bad hygiene, etc.
A mini Queen Jennah and the boosters are completely harmless to you. The more apt analogy is Grandma giving you a ugly sweater. Sure you may not like it, but it’s free and it won’t harm you.
Next: Automatic mode!
For all the people who want rewards without working towards them, now they can play the game without playing the game!
This is the single greatest thing I’ve had the fortune of witnessing. My god.
Question: Does Modified Ammunition affect my damage when I’m equipped with a pistol/rifle, but using a kit? Or does it only affect damage of my pistol/rifle skills?
What? I’m so happy I have to re-discover everything. More crafting exp, makes it a ton easier to reach 500.
The economy in Guild Wars 2 has been incredibly stable since launch, and while we don’t intend to perform such a massive change to the markets often, we’re really excited about these changes. They’ll make each piece of our new content even more *rewarding *to traders, give players new goals that are clear and expensive to work towards, and revise some old reward systems that held very little value. In the end, these changes are good for the tp traders, but more importantly, they’re getting rich off regular players.
Fixed for clarity*
More expensive materials = people who do dungeons/gather/craft will be able to earn MORE MONEY from the loot they earn.
SO HAPPY.
I was one who purchased Genesis about a week ago for a buy order of 180g. I reasoned that I think it would go back up since everyone was busy doing invasions. Boy was I wrong.
Either there are servers out there that continue to farm Orr, demand is stagnating, or suppliers are dumping their stock on mass. I think it’s the latter two.
I gave in and sold it for 90g or so. So that’s a loss of 90G. Not happy about it, but then again you win some and lose some.
Wow. Tsk tsk Vol this is a rookie mistake. What’s happening to you dude =(
I hope you realize that prices went up precisely because Anet gave us great farm sources.
Look man,
Current Precursor Supply:
Mystic ForgeNew Precursor Supply:
Mystic Forge
CraftingDo the math, how many new method? ONE. Now you have TWO supply sources.
Some people just cannot do the math… holy, 1+1=2, man. Get a grip.
You’re hugely oversimplifying things. The number of supply sources ultimately does not matter. It’s how many people participate in those activities, and at what rate the items is being produced which matters.
Adding the ability to craft precursors could lead to a situation where people who previously tossed rares into the MF stops, and starts crafting them instead. In which case although you have 1 more source of creating precursors, the overall supply of it still may not be affected.
Regardless, it’s all speculation until we know what Anet is doing. However, it’s far from a guarantee that “Supply will increase for sure.”
Currency inflation has a bit to do with it, but the larger contributing factor most likely is speculators, now that news of legendaries being improved has been dropped. And the Bard was super cheap previously.
Will SAB actually stay in the game this time?

It will be open for the month.
Whyyyyyy is your post not red-marked as an Anet dev?
The prices are insane for what it is currently.
I certainly don’t think they are. They were well worth my 2400 gems invested.
Do you rage about the grocery store stealing your money every time you get some Ramen? Prices are based on what buyers are willing to pay and what sellers are willing to accept. Nothing is being stolen and no exploiting is occuring.
How about bottled soda being more expensive than the bigger bottles? I imagine the rage blows his mind.
