I just hope they don’t touch the Sentinels runes.
Price keeps going up up up!
I guarantee you people will still be unsatisfied and will complain.
“you people”……..really? This kind of attitude is just as toxic as all the complainers. Maybe more so.
I suspect he meant “I guarantee you that people will still be unsatisfied and will complain.”
^
It’s all semantics and I could have said “I guarantee that people will still be unsatisfied” But either way is fine. But the inclusion of “you” just makes it more informal.
As you alluded to, this guy is not familiar with MMOs and such he’s repulsive to the controls.
GW2 controls are no different than any other MMO. This issue doesn’t have to do with GW2 alone. Heck, it’s not even an issue.
It’s just a different type of game that he needs to adjust to. There is no alternative due to the nature and complexity of MMO games compared to FPS’.
This was bound to happen, but I just couldn’t justify myself investing in hundreds of stacks of the cheap stuff for the inevitable price increase.
I thought this would be a sarcastic thread but I’m not so sure anymore.
It’s simply really. Every achievement point counts.
Let’s say you want 1000 achievement points and you currently have 100. You need 900 more to reach your goal.
You do some obscure achievement that gives you 1 pont, and now you need 899.
Every achievement point counts…
Oow… but those are only skinns or do they give the same skills as the elementalist skills that summon these weapons?
The skills are entirely different
I guarantee you people will still be unsatisfied and will complain.
Creating a bank alt is not how “I” play
ArenaNet cannot cater to every whim of every single player. You are taking the “play as you want” comment out of context – you could say you want to play with 11 active skills instead of 10, yet ArenaNet would not listen to you.
There are already ways to deal with your issue. Either keep less items with you, or make alts. Inventory is something people will always complain about – there will always be someone who has a very strong believe that he/she NEEDS more and more and more, no matter how much inventory ArenaNet adds to the game.
This. People are taking that quote and applying it to things other than gameplay. I bet when Anet said this they were talking about gameplay and that alone. Want to WvW to lvl up? You can do that. Want to explore to lvl up? Do that. Want to craft to lvl up? Do that.
Not “I want more bankspace instead of making alts cause that’s how I want to play the game”
Don’t go about playing this game expecting a precursor. You will grow to hate this game quickly and be massively disappointed.
Precursors are more massive surprises than expectations.
Just create a bank alt.
Seriously. It’s not that hard to create a new alt and plant him at Rata Sum. Most of the items there you won’t even use for a long period of time, like all your BL kits, 10 Pollas (srsly?), or BL tools.
This isn’t about creating more inventory spaces. It’s about inventory management.
I want to comment on the post above mine. I PMed that poster asking what he meant but it went unanswered.
He implies that you can just buy your way to a legendary short of karma, skill points, and map completion. I don’t think this is true. You can’t buy the WVWVW badges, the dungeon badges and some other types of needed items for the legendary.
Can someone clarify this?
You can buy everything except the account/soulbound stuff, so yes, that’s what he is implying.
Not that it’s hard to get dungeon tokens or WvW badges. It’s considerably harder to get karma and SP.
I have plenty of karma and SP, I just don’t have any of the tokens, badges, etc. Oh well.
If you’re like me and want multiple legendaries, having to collect the karma and SP is pretty difficult once you spend it. Especially with the farming nerfs it’s hard to get them.
I could only imagine how much work it takes for multiple legendaries.
Takes a lot of time and luck. Unfortunately with all the nerfs it is very hard to get gold now. So a guy trying for a legendary from scratch today will have a much harder time than a guy who started in, say, November or January.
All three of my legendaries were acquired largely through hardcore farming since release. But my next few legendaries (I have 1700 gold saved up + investments) will be funded by pure luck (three precursors in the past 2 months or so)

I don’t know man.
Any hardcore farmer for the past 6 months knows that the events right now are not worth it and your gold/h is pathetic.
Most of the events do not last long, spawn enough mobs or have an appropriate respawn timer to stay around and farm.
The conclusion is that CoF rewards too much, I agree
Yes, I’m glad someone else identified the true issue here.
I think Cursed Shore was over-nerfed too. I’d have thought that having players doing cooperative DEs together in Orr would be more preferable to Anet than players running endless 5-mans thru the same dungeon path.
All my friends in game I met through loitering in shelt/pen during downtimes.
That seemed to kill the community spirit with all these nerfs.

Orr and Southsun are pretty much dead on Dragonbrand. I pop over there once in a while for Arah or if I’m bored. I only ever see a bot or two roaming around and 3 or 4 people waiting for pent/shelter. I don’t think Anet has any idea what to do with Orr. First they felt the need to nerf it, then they tried to revamp it, but nothing seems to fix that place.
You can sort of tell Anet’s attitude toward Orr when they mention that living story and holiday events don’t take place in Orr. Like on Wintersday they said something about the random gift boxes being everywhere but Orr “where there isn’t much cheer.”
Well you have to give Anet credit. They like to create atmospheres that truly convey how they are supposed to feel.
Orr is full of death and it feels that way with no living players farming around.
Unfortunately in my case, the death of Orr spelled the death of open world pve for me. I’m not really interested in jumping from meta to meta for a rare that sells for 25s or so. The real heart-breaker is that I just recently finished my MF suit. Oh well.
Yeah after shelt/pen got nerfed I resorted to farming meta events on all my alts on all three servers.
Then it just go so cumbersome and time-consuming that I’ve stopped giving a kitten about it.
BTW MF gear has no effect on chests.
ASFAIK it’s not possible.
You must be a certain level in order to get exp from those mobs.
So if you’re lvl 1 in Orr tagging lvl 80 mobs you will get nothing.
But if you’re lvl 60 you get a bit.
I agree with most except:
“Maybe they should make the events there as hard Grenth and add some super hard events. That ought to bring the zone back to life. Maybe make world bosses harder too.”
There is a reason why most servers haven’t done Grenth in months. Grenth is stupid tough. And making it super hard is not enough to make people come back.
You need to make it REWARDING.
Go look at the Karka Queen. That chain is tough and long, and they even reward you two rares. But that alone is not rewarding.
@Chessrock
Good thoughts, mate. The only thing I believe you should consider is that you’re absolutely right. They can only nerf things so far. Once they’ve nerfed dungeons down to make about the same as perhaps farming, free roaming, wvw, etc. they won’t need to nerf anything anymore. In other words, they need to find the balance. Once they find the balance, no further nerfing will be required. Thoughts?
There’s no such thing as balance in MMOs. People will always look for the most efficient and rewarding task in game.
After Cof1 farming gets nerfed I bet you everyone will go to CoE
That’s true. But does that mean we shouldn’t strive to be as balanced as possible?
I’d like to see a comparison of what other dungeons can make, vs what CoF can make. If it isn’t that much more, than the game is relatively “balanced” already. However, if CoF is making significantly more, then I’d say there’s a bit of a problem.
If they keep nerfing everything then there will be nothing rewarding left in game.
Take a look at open world farmers. First they nerfed Plinx, then shelt/pen, then grub farm, then Lyssa farm. Now there is no such thing as open world farming and people have either decided to quit, loiter in LA or farm metaevents.
If they were to do the same thing with the dungeons then people will just keep going to the next best dungeon until dungeon running is only meant for achievements.
They have strived for a balance in terms of classes though. That’s why they made the changes to the warrior (although to be fair they are still powerful). I think what they should focus on is somehow include other classes in the cof1 farming, but that’s simpler than it sounds.
it’s open world, who honestly cares about what gear he is using
theres a picture in the ice shaman fractal; i was too lazy to check any after that
Just went through my album, looks like I also included my dungeon exotics (which I never wear MF gear). I’ll clean it up.
Either way my open world exotic count is well above 70. If I were to include all my dungeon stuff I’d figure +20/30

I suggest you trust in John Smith. The guy knows what he is doing and it’s his job to watch the economy. If Cof1 was as destructive as people make it out to be it would have been nerfed a long time ago.
This game has a lot of great goldsinks and that’s what is keeping the economy in check.
Well some people multi-box (which is not illegal) but lead to other profitable/beneficial activities that are illegal.
It’s a penalty for dying.
If there was no way to lose stacks, then why have them? You’d rather implement permanent bonuses…
To be honest man, I have never heard about this before. Perhaps you need to record this or send in a bug report.
I’m not aware of anything else that kills you instantly.
The only two scenarios as mentioned:
-You use the 3rd skill for downed warriors
-After getting downed 3 times in a short period of time, you get one-shotted by a mobI reported it but no response. I’ve also asked in game and no one seems to know. It doesn’t appear to come from any debuff or direct attack, or from falling damage. It generally appears to happen about the instant I would get out of combat from fleeing from a mob (but I’m not positive on that yet). It is definitely frustrating.
Then I’m 100% certain it’s a bug. Does this happen to your whole account, or just limited to 1 person?
If you don’t get a response in 5 business days I suggest you post here on the forums. Gaile is pretty good at escalating issues that need escalating.

When your hp goes down to 0, you go to a down state. If your down state hp goes down to 0, you are defeated.
Not a hard concept.
It sounds like you are playing a warrior and that you press the down state skill 3, vengeance. Vengenace allows you to be temporarily up, but you have to remove the vengeance buff within 15 second without dying. To remove vengeance, you have to kill a foe which is a random chance.
As I stated in two of my scenarios, I don’t even go to 0 hp and still get defeated. This is what confuses me about the game mechanic.
OK clean you explain the exact scenario that happened?
i.e.
-You engage a mob
-He brings you down to 0 %
-You enter downed state
-Somehow you get back up (you pressed 3rd skill)
-Your HP is back up for 10 seconds
-You suddenly die
The issues is, I get defeated without ever going to 0 hitpoints. In fact, I’ve been defeated without ever dropping below 50% of my hitpoints as I pointed out in two of my scenarios. That’s what I don’t understand. In fact, most of the time I am defeated, I never even get to 0 hp and that’s what irks me.
As the guy said above, it’s most likely you are a warrior using the 3rd downed skill, which can kill you if you do not kill anyone (random chance)
OK Here’s how it works
You have your HP bubble. This is the red circle you see in the center.
When that goes to 0, you enter downed phase, which is another set of HP.
Within this HP, it does not regenerate unless you use your 4 skill or if you get
‘rubbed’ by other players. You can leave this state if you fully heal your downed state HP or if a mob you have tagged dies (called rallying)
Once you are back on your feet, you get a penalty (it’s a little icon at the bottom left of your HP bubble). Each time you enter a downed state in a short period of time, your downed state HP starts off lower.
So if you die again, you may end up with 50% downed HP rather than 75%. If you get revived and downed again, you end up with 25% downed HP
If you get downed once again, you end up with 0% downed HP and immediately go from alive to dead
If you are constantly dying then you are either attempting mobs that are too powerful for you or you are not properly geared.
If you were to introduce a protection zone, that won’t solve anything. Then people would gank outside of that protection zone.
And then you’d still have people spawn camping.
My only suggestion is to give players who enter the map an invulnerability buff for 15 seconds. They cannot take damage and they cannot deal damage.
That would prevent ganking when people are logging in or when engis somehow reach the spawn platform
I would say ‘just transmute’ but you already mentioned it!
I view these skins as just skins and not armor sets. It’s no different than the cultural armors.
I could see Anet using opportunities like these to make money (and they should). If anet made these items exotic quality then you’d have fewer people using those stones.
I agree that the game doesn’t have all the right stat sets. Heck, even PVT gear is in game but you have to craft it with very limited inscriptions.
If you truly are desperate for PVT gear, you can buy the Sentinel Orichalcum Inscriptions for 20g a piece :P
I have 6 pieces in my bank waiting to sell when people are desperate enough to pay 25-30g a piece :P
I should also note that you can get some pieces from Balthazar Temple.

They must realize that the nerfs from the 25th have driven players to other classes or other games. The fanboi’s are posting “THANKS FOR THE GREAT JOB!!!!!” like usual after each change. But they see the need to reevaluate their actions given the feedback.
If I thought "hmmm, it cant be that bad.., " I’d start with something exactly like a “facebook likes” program that’s easy, doesn’t grant any significant game changing incentives and allows me to feel better about what was done.
And yes, the term bribes fits perfectly.
looks like someone is bitter about that patch :P
what are you, a shortbow ranger? ;S
Look at my sig for reasons why
Erm, I see your sig. I got more exotics to drop without MF in southsun vs while I was wearing MF gear. Does this mean I can parade around telling people that what I’ve experienced is factual? MF did very little for me over the course of 300+ farming hours. The only consistency I noticed was more greens. At the end of the day, it’s still a numbers game when talking about drops. Personally IMO, drop rates for precursors especially, are way too low for MF to significantly affect. Maybe if we could document a small playerbase of farmers. couple hundred hours with and without mf gear. I could probably bet on both sides coming out equal give or take some greens/crafting materials. MAYBE 1-2 extra rares for either side, and MAYBE a few exotics scattered throughout the entire group.
Also, earlier today my server was doing a temple. Forget which one but I got a charged lodestone as a drop. 0% MF and several people in chat pinged their fully geared MF stuff beforehand. (we were having a discussion about drops).
You’re not going to notice much of an improvement unless you have a high kill rate per hour. Hours farming doesn’t tell much, nor does hours in game.
You could say you spent 100 hours farming CoE and compare it with 100 hours farming shelt/pen (the old) and the latter will always be more rewarding in the long run. Of course in the short-term you are bound to see the opposite happen
No.
He should shave his head and try and make his best Kane impression (from Red Alert series)
Well I agree with him that it seems pointless why he would make it up.
If I wanted to make something up, I’d make something up that I could pump and dump commodities on.
The GM mistake could have happened. I don’t know how they operate those things, but let’s assume that they have item codes for each item in game.
Let’s say his Sunrise disappeared somehow and he is allowed a replacement. The item code is 11358. He types in 11658 instead (from the keypad) That item code ends up being the endless tonic which was unreleased.

The new JP is hard, yes, but it’s hard because of learning the new mechanics and being very careful. As soon as you know what each thing does and the good, easy spots then it’s easy.
It’s like the Mad King puzzle. People freaked out over that and said it was difficult. It was not difficult all the way through until you learned. You just didn’t know where to go. As soon as you figured it out you could do it multiple times.
The only difficult AND unreasonable achievements in this game are the WvW achievements. Some of them will take years to properly do.
I get a feeling that my point wasn’t understood well. If you have an achievement with a fairly trivial 37 requirements yet the last one, which is required to complete the achievement, is miles harder than all the rest then something is simply not right there. Not to mention the fact that the last requirement requires of you to go even further than the puzzle chest itself and that the jump at the end feels almost as RNG.
Those diving spots vary in difficult. There are easy ones such as the one in LA as well as moderately difficult ones such as the Frostgorge one.
I do understand your point, we just disagree on what is acceptable. I find it acceptable to have a difficult dive to finish your achievement point. After all, it sort of gives meaning and relevant to that achievement, especially with that title.
And you disagree, which is absolutely fine.
Why can’t we have these sultry details in GW2?
I for one one would enjoy the intimate details between a male Norn and his delightful female Asura partner
or your neighborhood friendly Charr and his secret relations with the Quaggan across the street.
Look at my sig for reasons why
MF can work, but arent you basicly gimping your team by running a weaker gear?
1.) None of my exotic drops I included there came from dungeons. They’re all open world
2.) MF gear, especially those with power/precision/MF still contribute in DPS. Other stat combos, such as PVT I’d argue contributes less DPS
Can anyone ingame try and see if you can put the consumable tonic in the forge?
If you aren’t willing to put in the effort, time, blood sweat and tears..
Then you don’t deserve those achievement points. It’s as simple as that.
That’s why they’re called achievements. You dedicated yourself to achieving whatever it wanted you to.
Moving the end goal like that isn’t very fair, though. How would you like it if ANet decided to retroactively raise the price of everyone’s copy of GW2 by $20?
That’s an absurd analogy so I won’t even bother

You can think that guy for necro’ing the thread
Colin said the reward overhaul would happen in the second half and that a blogpost regarding that would come in late July.
AFAIK we’re still in the 1st half and this achievement reward system was talked about earlier in the year.
So no, this is completely separate
It doesn’t really matter what it is, this is a problem for many users that have complained about it ever since implementation. It needs to be fixed. Which means they need to find a way to handle that much transaction. Speaking as a dev myself, it is entirely possible, if a bit more costly. The question is, how much are they willing to spend on keeping their players happy, and more importantly, in the game?
Actually the bigger question is how many people would benefit from such a ‘fix’ if we are willing to spend the time and money to investigate it?
And no, this is not a problem. It’s a limitation. Not only are you going to hammer the outpost with many requests but you are going to lag the TP for everyone.
Unless you’re a power trader and all you do is sit there 24/7 conducting transactions, the majority of the playerbase doesn’t care about this error.
Not only that, but this error goes away after 20-30 seconds.
This isn’t a gamebreaking inconvenience we’re talking about here.
tldr:
It’s simply not worth the devs time to handle this issue since
a.) Not many people care about it
b.) It’s a very minor inconvenience
c.) It’s in there for a good reason
