I think you can. Just go to the mf and try. If you dont want to spend the skill points and be disappointed, just see, if the gift of souls goes into the mf. As the Crossing is the only item you can craft with it, you will be able to do so, if it shows up in the mf window.

Wanze.8410

This is a terrible idea. What it comes down to, is that you are asking for a rebate.
If you think the stuff on the gem store is not worth your money, dont buy it.
And why complain about people that buy gems with in game gold? Those people actually have a special purpose because first of all, its a huge gold sink in game and important in order to keep inflation in check. They also add value to gems because the more people buy gems with gold, the higher the rate goes, which means that you will receive more gold for your 10 bucks.

I dont have a problem, if Anet gives out goodies for people that spend money on gems like in December but a 2nd gemstore? I dont see the point.

The next 4 patches will be LS only. Other content updates will follow bundled in march.

Let’s be real, how hard can it be to revert the requirement from Silk Scraps to Silk Bolt from 3 to 2? Or change the requirement to create a Spool of Silk Thread from 100 to 50? Maybe it’s just me but this isn’t exactly rocket science.

Also if you looked at the release notes of the last LS patch you’ll notice that they also included some changes not directly related to the Living Story.

Ever considered that it is working as intended?

Are minis a stable investment?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

I dont know where your hostility comes from. The OP asked about what people think of the mini market and i gave my honest opinion based on my past experience.

Hostility was not my intention, but I’d be lying – reading back my reply – that there wasn’t some of it in there. I’ll try to explain some of the thoughts behind it.

First you say that based on your vast experience as a trader, trading in X is good/bad.
Then you say you have no experience in trading in X, and that it’s not your cup of tea.
What then, I wonder, is your advice based on? On information available to everyone – yes – but not in hands-on trading in the item itself.

I guess my problem is that your opinion carries weight – you know it does having caused quite a stir on the market with your posts in the past – but that you use that opinion on items in which you have no experience in, and which at times defy logic. Which brought me to the t2-t5 cloth example, where I kept telling people to use their head instead of blindly following the crowd and the wealthier investors. And the crowd, as you know quite well, will blindly follow. But as you know, that crowd will not sell right before a patch hits; they will hold on to it and lose out bigtime. You won, that’s great, but most of them lost.

So I guess I would have preferred that you questioned me on my advice in this thread – which even though it is based on experience can still be tested to see whether it’s really that solid – instead of giving advice to one person (read by 1000 others) that has no basis in hands-on experience in the item itself. Mind you, profits margins in that market are through the roof, and I mean really, through the roof. It was disgusting how much gold I could make on certain evenings when minis bottomed out; I mean, even with black lion skins I couldn’t even come close to those margins. Anyway, I’ll stop here. Take it with a grain of candy corn.

Well, as I said, I did invest in Mini´s at some point (about 2000g), and I also made profit, so i think I have experience in it. I also observe the market occasionally for a longer period of time, if something happens to it, be it risen knights being a rare mini when they came out, discontinuation of set 1 or the rare chest minis recently.

My main problem with the market is that in my opinion its just pure vanity. Their in game use is pretty limited and they are not consumed or bound, when used (unless you forge them). So for me its more a decision based on the design and mechanics behind it than anything else.

And why should i question your advice? Everybody has its own opinion and if you made good money with it, I cant argue much with that.

Zealots requires insignia and recipes?

ascended item = recipe + ascended component 1 + ascended component 2 + ascended inscription/insignia + vision crystal
inscription/insignia = recipe + exotic inscription/insignia of your choice + damask/deldrimor dowel + dark matter + crystalline dust

which means that making an ascended armor set requires 1 insignia recipe (21k karma) and 6 item recipes (each 5 laurels + 3 gold)

We are talking about Zealot/Keepers. No need to throw a generic recipe for ascended crafting in here.

On that note I was surprised to see GW2 19th on last week’s UK PC sales chart. So either it’s a steep curve from 1 to 19 in terms of overall sales or I’ve underestimated the popularity of a 1+ year old game.

Then again it’s the UK. How many PC gamers are there to begin with? :p

Nope. But I’ve seen so many things change in this game over the last three years, the only thing I really believe from ArenaNet is, as Colin put it, “Nothing is off the table.”

I don’t have any reason to believe achievement rewards will some day be in the gem store, but neither do I have much reason to believe they never will.

yea you never know. what we do know is people will pay X amount of gems for things of that nature. x amount of gems = $$$$

But if people can be sure to purchase rewards that are account and achievement bound at a later stage, they wouldnt have to bother to log in and spend time in game while those achievements and rewards are available.

Except they are commonplace. And they are meaningless, being simply pretty objects to display. This is the issue with how anet have implemented the legendary system. It should be a trophy reflective of skill, of overcoming a hard challenge, but it aint. As it stands the liadri mini is a far better trophy than a legendary.

I think the majority of mats for crafted pre cursors will be account bound currencies, or vendor stuff like Icy Runestones, if they want to put a gold value into it.
I would also prefer, if crafted pre cursors would be account bound as well, so they only influence the demand on “regular” ones, not the supply.

As the OP stated, the sudden demand in mats for the gifts and their most likely price spike are way more concerning for the overall economy, especially for stuff like Silver Doubloons.

Yeah, I’m considering buying up the full set too. (Except the Satchels. I generally ignore those.) I wonder if they’ll still be available even after the Marionette fight is gone though. It seems a rather short window of opportunity to get them otherwise, especially since the finished items are account bound and can’t be sold.

It was the same timeframe for celestial recipes even though you could trade common crafting mats for zephyr supply boxes during the event, which dropped the recipes.

I think the zealot recipes will be a limited drop. They might stop dropping with the next LS patch or keep dropping over a couple of LS releases, just like the vendor for spore recipes was available through several Tower of Nightmare releases in Kessex Hills.

The satchel recipes will be worth as much as the 6 different armor recipes combined, so an easy way to save some space, if you want to invest.

Are minis a stable investment?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

I am seriously playing the TP for over a year now and i never thought investing into Minis was a good idea at any point of time. This market got screwed over too many times by simple bugs with the holographic risen knight, Scarlet and Caithe.
I invested a bit of gold when Set1 got discontinued but as mentioned before in this topic, the ROI over time is just not worth it in my opinion. Time restricted skins are way more worth investing in, if you got a couple of spare slots in your bank.

That’s why you bought buckets of gossamer, while I was buying the bolts of linen and wool. Seriously, how can you put such bold statements? I made over 500g in about 2 months just with minis by investing a minimal amount of effort and time, and I really mean minimal. As with any trading, all you have to do is study the market a bit and know when to buy, buy/forge, or buy/forge/sell. That’s it.

IF you make money on the mini market that is fair enough, its just not my cup of tea.

I bought bolts of gossamer the week after ascended weaponcrafting got introduced back in september and sold before ascended armorcrafting went live, so i made quite some money on gossamer.

I never bought Linen or wool directly but opened more than 100k lootbags of different tiers between september and December, keeping all cloth to sell after the patch. I usually made a profit on the lootbags, selling everything except the cloth.

I dont know where your hostility comes from. The OP asked about what people think of the mini market and i gave my honest opinion based on my past experience.

If you had better success, fair enough, and congrats to you. If you want to share your positive experience in the mini market, go ahead.
As i said, i invested a bit as well, a couple of hundred gold when set 1 was discontinued, and i made some profit, about 30% ROI over 2 weeks. But i rather invest into other market where i can make more money.

Wanted: Zoom to 500 Crafting

Wanze.8410

I can imagine a cashstop item to level a crafting skill … but at a cost that reflects market value of mats needed to level crafting the normal way plus a premium that reflects the time and effort saved. I don’t think it’s a price many people would pay though, so I doubt it would be implemented.

The point is that gem store items are never priced at the gold/gem ratio but the value of real currency to gems.

Anet doesnt control the gold/gem ratio as it depends on how much is traded in either direction. The price of maxing a craft also on the current market prices of the mats involved, another thing Anet cant control as it is player driven.

If it currently costs 100g to lvl a craft to 500 and they introduce an gem store item that gets you to 500 and only costs 85g when you trade gold for the gems required, everybody would trade their gold for the required gems. This would make the amount of gold you need to get the required gems for that item raise to 100g quite quick and even surpass it, as people would pay a premium for the convenience.

Wanted: Zoom to 500 Crafting

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

Some people hate crafting and I am one of them.
I would gladly pay to avoid having to craft anything other than the end game weapons and armors (that seem to be more about making me do enough of certain content to get materials).

Anyway, can you think about a “buy your way out of crafting” item? I (and many I would imagine) could tolerate forging a weapon if we didn’t have to do all the silly crafting to get to the point of forging it.

While you are at it, is there any reason we can’t buy ascended weapons considering they have been out for long enough that anyone who really wanted to craft one could have?

I get having a time delay between new armor/weapons and introduction of multiple ways to acquire them, but ascended weapons need more ways to get them that don’t require crafting!

As Vol already stated, crafting is incredibly easy and fast. It costs a bit more if you use fast guides than economic guides. I expect you to know that already and while making this request be willing to pay even more in gems than it would cost to change those gems into gold to lvl a specific craft to 500.

That is paying a premium for convenience and basically is what the gem store is all about.

What you didnt consider is that all the mats you would need to lvl your craft to 500, would be used up, lowering their demand and devaluing them for the general player base.

This would especially hurt new players, who profit off the demand of low and mid tier mats coming from end game players who pay a premium to buy those mats off the tp to lvl fast.

So your suggestion would put new players at a general disadvantage to generate gold scaled to players with lvl 80 characters, who have easier ways to farm gold in general through dungeons/champ trains/exotic drops.

While it might make Anet a little more money in the short run, i think they more value new players getting a good footing in the economy.

The reason why ascended weapons arent available on the tp is because most of the player base is of the opinion that BiS Gear should be obtained through in game achievements and not through your wallet. For weapons you still have the option to buy legendaries.

I also already explained in another topic why making ascended gear tradeable is a bad idea for the general player base. In a short version:

The sudden demand on t2-5 common mats, not only to craft for those who want to buy ascended gear but also for the stock that is constantly listed on the tp, will raise its value again over a short period (just like when ascended weapon and armor crafting got introduced). Those kinds of changes usually spark alot of activity on the tp, which is the biggest gold sink in the game. So from an economical kind of view, they have to carefully balance those gold sinks and cant introduce them at any given time (1 reason why they delayed jeweler and cook 500 imo).

Due to this price spark based on raised demand, i think that the crafting value for ascended weapons would be so high that you wouldnt deem it worth it and buy a legendary instead for a bit more gold.

Best way to make money with Ectos?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

I usually generate 3-4 stacks of ectos per week through salvaging the right rare items (for profit). I usually sell them as the most profitable ways to craft ectos into something different usually include spending other currency like skillpoints, karma or dungeon tokens. The Return of Interest on those account bound currencies is way better in ways that dont involve ectos, so i usually sell them.

For selling i have 1 advice. ectos fluctuate in price quite heavily, usually 5-10% per day, with buy and sell order usually 2-3 silver apart.

When selling ectos, i usually wait until the difference between buy and sell orders is in that range and sell 1-2s above the lowest seller. They usually sell within a couple of hours anyways due to the price fluctuation.

An Austrian accent for my Norn? My wallet is ready

Sounds intriguing but will never happen. Best thing you can do, is to kindly ask Anet for the audio lines your character says during gameplay. With that list, go search for an Austrian Voice actor (different accent in every valley!!) and ask him what payment he wants to record these lines. Look for a studio, add rent and wages for the actor and start a kickstarter. Raise the money needed to provide the voice over audio files yourself to Anet. Lets say the voice over will cost 10€/$ in gems, so everybody who chipped in 10 bucks for the kickstarter, will get the voice over for free, while Anet keeps the revenue for additional voice overs purchased for implementing it.

Problem solved.

This will not make you any money but will score your goal, while you get credited for the assist.

And i guess it would be a nice feeling to be part of the creational process of a game you enjoy to play.

I remake post with link to this build . Wanze how can I transmute the molten staff and cepter skin onto Soldier or Knight Weapons ??

You need a molten staff and another exotic staff that has the stats you would like to have.

Then use a Transmutation Crystal, which combines both weapons and you can choose which appearance, stats and sigil of those 2 weapons you would like to have on the transmuted weapon.

As you can see at this build this guy got a molten staff and scepter with toughness tell me how because I can only buy:
Berserker’s
+179 Power.png Power
+128 Precision.png Precision
+9% Critical Damage.png Critical Damage

Carrion
+179 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage
+128 Power.png Power
+128 Vitality.png Vitality

Rampager’s
+179 Precision.png Precision
+128 Power.png Power
+128 Condition Damage.png Condition Damage

Even though i dont know which build you mean, my guess would be that he transmuted the molten staff and cepter skin onto Soldier or Knight Weapons.

Cant craft Keepers Ascended Gear?

in Crafting

Hi Guys,

just wondering if somebody already crafted an ascended Keeper Zealot weapon or armor.

I was able to craft the ascended inscription after getting the recipe from the tp but when i used my recipe for an asc greatsword, it gives me all the stat combinations to choose from but Keeper is not an option.

I already reported it as a bug, was just wondering if i have overseen something.
If somebody has an unused armor piece recipe in his inventory, i would appreciate, if you could check if Keeper is an option on armor.

Fortune Scraps still dropping?

400 scraps in your bank, and you’ve not traded them for a skin that sells for 60 gold? And this is because… why?

Skins you buy with fortune scraps are account bound. I have 1250 in my bank, along with a bunch of other back pieces/helms that are all account bound :p

I also already got all account bound skins you can get from fortune scraps and today found another 2 stacks of scraps on an alt.
I traded them in for 50 Zephyr Boxes, got 2 exalted coat recipes (20-30g) and a couple of other valuable ones, overall value of 100g.

Metabolic Primer, what is the effect?

in Black Lion Trading Co

It should work that food eaten right after the primer lasts 12 hours. Scattered reports of a bug perhaps here.

Talmor, the way you read it originally is how it should work. Do you know exactly what food you were using? Also, what maps / areas you were in?

Spunkeimania, you can eat food during the 12 hours.. it will change which food buff you have but the duration should still last the rest of the 12 hours (rounded up, so never less than an hour)

I’m not sure what the point of this item is then, Curtis. I can’t think of a single item of food where purchasing 24x (half hour buffs) would be more expensive than the cost of coverting gold into 125 gems (or 105 gems if you buy en masse).

At an average rate of 5g/100 gems it would cost 6.25g to purchase 125 gems (or 5.25g for 105 gems if buying en mass) and a food item would have to cost more than 26s (or 22s if buying en masse) to make the cost work out. Right now the most expensive food item in game is Bowl of Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup at 44.31s per item, but this item has a one hour duration giving it an effective cost of 22.15s per half hour. That’s right at the break even point for making the Metabolic Primer worthwhile, but that’s only if you’re buying the lowest listed price. If you’re willing to place buy orders you can get the item for 36.41s/hour, and the cost is even lower if you’re willing to place buy orders for the materials and craft the items yourself.

So what I’m saying is that I don’t understand this item…even if you’re willing to buy the most expensive food item at its highest possible cost, the Primer isn’t worthwhile. There’s not really an added convenience since opening the inventory to click another item isn’t a hassle and you’re arguably losing value on your food by having it active for 12h b/c you’ll rarely be doing nothing but combat on a character for 12 consecutive hours of gameplay. It just doesn’t seem useful from a cost-saving or convenience perspective =\

Those items are not designed to give you a gold rebate on using consumables but they are for convenience only. Same goes for permanent gathering tools, Salvage o matic, instant trait reset etc.

IF the Primer would actually be worth converting gold to gems to buy it to save on food costs, do you know what would happen?

Everybody would convert gold to gems to buy it until the gem rate is so high that it isnt cost effective anymore.

Market manipulation with buy orders?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Wanze.8410

Either ANet needs to remove the “Top Demanded Items” from the TP as it’s completely irrelevant and misleading…..or they need to fix the spamming of buy orders.

SOOooo maybe we should come up with ideas for how they would fix it.

I think adding a vendor value of 1s to all rare/exotic skins and gear is the best solution.

he needs precise answers so he knows which recipes will be most demanded and will have the best Return of Interest.

Actually, I was mostly curious because it has limited value in pve and wvw. Isn’t spvp all normalized? So it was mostly a rhetorical question, as in no value.

Well, it gives you a choice to gear for healing instead of toughness. Apart from Ele and Guardian, i can also see warriors with their high base vitality and good access to healing giving it a spin in wvw.

Supply and Demand

lol…..Ya’ll are arguing the 99% and not the concept? Never cease to amaze….

While a certain poster may take things a bit extreme imo, the overall message (ya’ll seem to ignore to focus on semantics repeatedly) is there (again a bit extreme for my tastes). The bandwagoning by those invested in relevant activities is obvious to the point where their bias is may be taken for sound basis of questioning their validity on such a matter.

If you’re going to argue the point argue the concept of controlling markets…not whether the 99% number is real. Arguing the 99% makes it seem that you cannot argue the point at hand and as such need to resort to focusing on something inconsequential.

Well, we all agreed that basically no markets are controlled by a single player or group, so the 99% of items not in demand was the only thing to argue about. As the basic questions of the OP seem to have been answered before we all went off topic, we might as well close this topic.
