Assuming the new champ loot isn’t another joke:
P4 will obviously be profitable with the amount of bosses
P1… the run itself really isn’t that bad or long if people know how to skip trakitten really just take one person who knows what he/she is doing and the rest follow.
afaik only the #6 skill on your bar counts as a healing skill
seriously I’m too scared to pug in the 40s
Funny, I think people become more competent the higher the fractal levels. I’d much rather do a fractal 48 daily than a lv1-20. People just cause me physical pain with simple mechanics like getting a boss under the oil.
well, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this, I guess I will give it a shot sometime when I have a whole night I can potentially waste.
seriously I’m too scared to pug in the 40s
this post reminds me of the recently popular euro wvw commander video.
Just a lower IQ version.
daily pug story time:
bunched up a hoard of dredge in the corner before the cannons.
-mesmer GS 5’s them away
-necro feared some more away
-engi BOB blew the rest away
so that’s why anet improved my hammer symbol size
Personally I don’t find guardians needing more conditions. I think we need more interrupts.
-how are you getting two-shotted? the video with people running naked didn’t get two shotted
-untraited smokescreen has 30s cd, duration is 7s so 23% uptime, traited, 25s cd, 28% uptime. 5 thieves, ranger, mesmer, guardian, ele can chain their reflects together and get 100% uptime. engi also has WoR/smokescreen but long cd.
-you shouldn’t be getting hit from either side if you are standing inside the black strip at the base of the smoke screen.
still not as op as staff auto attack, staff 2 and 3 has 1200 range so range shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, pugs are not reliable, they may res you by accident. Using staff is much more pug friendly
Yeah don’t tell nik, tell me
hammer tank warriors inc
I doubt it, did he even use the right signets?
You get one stack of confusion for each post you read in this thread,
It’s okay all the normal people in NZ are in auckland
10/10 would recommend.
On the other hand, its a well known build used by many players. Not sure if a guide was needed.
most people use half kittened builds, this is optimally min/maxed
Why not wayfarer? You’ll be more tanky. You don’t need to do good dmg, you only need to dmg to get loot. Let the others kill for you.
First of all, like I mentioned before, there are no ascended wayfarer trinkets as far as I can find or exotic armor.
Second, more importantly, it is a balance between doing low damage and avoid toughness aggro
That particular template can just reset itself if there are any major trait changes
So this is why people tell me the suggestion forum is bad
lol more complaints about free stuff
i thought crit damage base is 50
lol…
I would suppose great wave of hate when I saw thread that is promoting leeching – and leechers are MOST hated thing in all dungeons. That is surprise for me that there is so much support for it here instead…
you have to read the WHOLE post to understand
It wasn’t until I’ve been playing this game for months that I decided to turn off the double tap dodging. That was followed by a painful experience of changing by dodging habit. But in the end it was worth it because now I can dodge a lot quicker.
I recommend every new player to turn it off as soon as they can.
Some people just lift the boot far too quickly. Occasionally I do get amazing thief pugs (a good thief soloing the campfire bit in snowblind is a bloody blessing) but I just don’t know why I never started a vote on those that insist on auto attacking with their daggers among a huge hoard of dredge. Wait I know, because the other thief in that group was doing the exact same thing.
Wukunlin. Best Guardian NA.
Thanks but I am just standing on the shoulders of giants. I would never have believed how powerful of a leeching weapon the staff is if there were no kind souls to show me the way.
zenish gloves, arah legs, hotw chest

It’s cause you’re Australian, not NZ master race
not to mention he’s on kaineng
When anet wanted to make the game without involving the trinity, they destroyed healers as well as tanks. Why they put healing stats and tanky stats in their gear is beyond me. Because they are supposed to be useless from the get go.
Almost every single player who tried to use condition builds in PVE has requested this. The only relevant response we got is that they have hardware problems so they can’t fix the 25 cap quickly.
Also, even with the bleed cap removed, condition damage is still inferior to direct damage in PVE because most PVE mobs and bosses have massive health pools and relatively low armor
and then they remove magic find
that’s why you should get all your leeching done when you still can
I need to test that build right now!
€: Just came to my mind, I think you should aim for as much Wayfarer’s as possible, instead of Explorer’s or Traveler’s. That way, you have more defensive and are even less likely to draw aggro, since your damage will be zero. That way, you can tag even more mobs instead of worrying about downing.
no wayfarer ascended pieces on that site
I say you are getting lucky. I’ve been doing fractals of low and high levels recently and the loot quality is just too random to put a trend on.
this is built around sword though, hammer and GS are a bit more difficult to trait for full dps. The traits are at weird spots needing to take useless traits >_<
berserker’s is the best dps gear. Sword has the highest dps of all guardian weapons but GS and hammer aren’t bad. When you want to go full dps you can drop the whole AH line altogether and go for all the traits that increases your weapon damage.
Knight gear is a good starting point with an AH build
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-7;4NFF40L3sF-90;9;6TT9;453A16A5;0U-k6;2CqNYCqNYm-kg0-R7;2V1W6XAYEZL4Sa-o-G-2ix
Hammer is good for sustained dps, protection and AH procs, can use GS for more burst if you really like.
I recommend experimenting with different traits and skills all the time to find whatever suits you most.
At some point you may feed you have too much survivability and could use damage then you can switch to a more dps oriented build.
Staff is always nice for open world mobility.
I never got into mace so I can’t say much about it other than I feel like it doesn’t do enough damage for a place in PVE and the auto chain doesn’t cleave properly (3rd hit isn’t aoe) last time I used it. Torch is in an awkward spot, #4 skill can hit pretty hard, #5 is an okay condition cleanse but it doesn’t cleanse the guardian using it.

you really raging over a trailer? also the chinese voice acting is terrible.
“Alright kids!! stop arguing or I’ll take your loot tables away!!!”
“BUT I WAS RIGHT!!”
“NO HE’S SO FULL OF KITTEN!!”
-_-
/nerfloot
Agreed. Using the best builds to burn down bosses quickly doesn’t require much skill . But neither is waiting for the boss to kick people in the face. Only place I see skills come into play in this game is pvp or specific encounters like people soloing group content.
apparently the casuals do
MF Dungeon Leeching build traits and equipment
TRAITS
30 Radiance
Focusing on signets. When leeching you want to concentrate on tagging mobs instead of using your skills. Signets are great in the sense that they have a passive component you can still make use of your skill slots.
- II Signet Mastery: excellent trait especially for Signet of Resolve to heal yourself more and stay alive. If you have to use other signets or clicked them by accident then this trait also helps to get the passive effects back up faster.
- IX Inscribed Removal: although you are not meant to use the signet actives, when you are low on health with conditions on you, you can use the signets to remove conditions as a last resort.
- XII Perfect Inscriptions: improve all the passive effects of your signet. What’s not to like?
20 Valor
Focusing on survivability. You can’t leech and tag mobs when you are dead.
- III Strength of the Fallen: gives your teammate more time to res you in case when you do get downed.
- V Purity: more passive condition removals so you are less likely to be forced into activating your signets.
20 Honor
More survivability to keep you up and leeching
- VI Pure of Heart: there is a chance that the passive of Virtue of Courage can come back up in the middle of the fight (unless you keep spamming the active, which, like signets, you shouldn’t). The following hit you take will remove the aegis and end up healing you.
- IX Two-Handed Mastery: lets you spam you staff skills more frequenty to help tagging mobs.
SKILLS
Signet of Resolve
Best guardian heal when traited in terms of heals per second.
Signet of Judgement
Awesome damage reduction passive so you take less damage when leeching
Signet of Mercy
Gives you more healing power so when you dodge roll and use staff #4 you get more health back.
Signet of Wrath
It is either between this or Bane Signet. Bane signet increases power and makes you hit harder. That is bad because you become more likely to draw aggro, so we use Signet of Wrath.
Renewed Focus
Panic button to help you avoid getting downed, so you can keep tagging mobs.
ARMOR
Basically you want any exotic magic find set. Traveler’s Sets (MF/power/cond) are more ideal because you have condition damage as oppose to precision in Explorer’s Sets. If your precision is too high, you will crit too much, and will draw more aggro. You don’t want to have to deal with mobs attacking you when tagging them for their loot.
Runes you want 5 Traveler’s runes for magic find and some health to survive any unavoidable damage. Add a pirate rune for the last slot for maximum magic find from runes.
TRINKETS
Basically you just want to max out magic find. Unfortunately that means we are forced into using some Explorer’s parts but we should still aim for maximum magic find.
WEAPONS
Staves are by far the best weapons for tagging mobs for guardians. There is no reason to use anything else. Again we want Traveler’s stats so we don’t crit too much. You want to start using the staff with the sigil of luck to get your MF% stacks then switch to the other staff for a further 3% MF.
Staff auto attack is your bread and butter for tagging mobs. Staff 2 and 3 have 1200 range so you can still tag mobs that are too dangerous for you to get within 600 range. Staff 4 is good for heals. Line of Warding is handy when you do get mob aggro you can block them for a few seconds so your teammates can regain aggro.
SUMMARY
This is an effective build to counter the poor droprates and rewards in GW2 dungeons. With this set up you can go in and get credit for all the mobs killed without worrying about too much aggro and expect good loot.
Good luck getting on everyone’s blacklist.
OP stomps:
- stealth stomp
- teleport stomp
- portal stomp
- stability stomp
- invulnerability stomp
- blind stomp
- aegis/block skill stomp
So what is so special about stealth stomp again?
has anyone tested if there is a maximum to the stacks? I guess it would be like 25 but then defiant can exceed 25 so idk anymore. Too scared to check for myself.
I figured the Guardian forums would be a good place to ask, but can anyone post a picture of themselves wielding the Zenith shield with the Aegis effect active?
wow, nice and quick “hotfix.”
Now let’s see if the bugs introduced by the last patch is still there.
a few questions before I can suggest a relevant build:
-What sort of PVE are we talking about? open world? dungeons? fotm? solo? teamplay?
-What are your favourite weapons?
-How comfortable are you with using dodges and aegis as defense instead of toughness and vitality?
I appreciate the feedback but I wish this wouldn’t continue as a thread that completely bashes peoples’ builds. The line that has been drawn is this: those players that are unfamiliar with dungeon mechanics, who can benefit from a defensive role in the party, and those players who do not need such support.
The conclusion I drew is clear, and thank you for the feedback, but this thread is going downhill fast.
No matter what you do. remember that auto attacking with a staff on any profession is one of the worst way to contribute to the team.
After a month after launch I got used to animations missing in this game. Something always goes missing after a patch
I’m not sure why staff camping guardians say they are healers. Staff auto attack doesn’t even heal, at least camp mace or something
