I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again now.
If you want me to actually buy dyes from the gem store two things need to happen.
1)They need to be account bound.
2)No more random mystery packs.
Do these two things and I’ll buy some gems because I want all the colors and I’m getting impatient trying to get them on just 3 characters let alone everyone I ever make…
Lots of nice changes there, really looking forward to the wallet. Only one im concerned with is the reduction in graphic details when there’s a lot going on. Does this mean legendary effects will dissapear? Without my ponies i dont have a lot left lol.
I’m sort of hoping that they just do something with opaqueness / transparency of the effects.
If they do it that way it would make it easier to see the animations of everyone involved without really reducing the graphical quality.

As been said there is no *one’ best build, there are only more or less competitive builds.
Before even asking for a “best” build you should specify what and how you want to play your guardian.
Pve? Open world? Dungeons? fractals? Pvp? WvW? ranged? Up front and personal? First in and last one out? etc?
The point is that most experienced guardians change gear and build when ever they change content.
All of this.
The ‘best build’ that you will ever find is one that matches both the content you are currently in and (more importantly) your playstyle.
Well Colin mentioned that
“Some of the dungeons that we may not think are as exciting? We may just blow them up entirely and come up with something else from the ashes. New mechanics, new new bosses, new rewards. Polish-wise, some of our dungeons are much closer to where we’ll like them to be and maybe, you’ll see smaller changes and smaller upgrades.”
The interview were this was said was posted less than an hour ago over here
He talks about a lot of stuff but that dungeon part is relevant to this thread.
I guess the outcry against the AC changes really was that bad after all. Curious though how we were told to just wait 3 months and we would see that the changes were the best thing since sliced internets. Well now here it is and we have not a whole lot of anything really…
So dungeons are pretty much done for now then I guess.
I am curious to see the how the new dungeon reward system plays out.
I would actually like to see a fast-cast current target option. Where the ground casting spell would just cast centered on the current target.
Keeping the current option as well for those that like it of course.
Too many times I get the out of range message because my mouse is a fraction of a centimeter off or I just lost my cursor do to all the particle effects in some fights.
Anyhow more options the better.
I’m afraid I don’t have a direct answer for you, but I will try to help.
Where you go next really depends on how well the feel you have for your profession is among some other things.
How comfortable are you playing a thief?
Are you playing mainly by yourself or with a group?
How close to your current level is your gear?
These are just some of the questions that you have to ask yourself. Also Brisban isn’t your only choice. You can take the Asura portal from Divinity’s Reach to any of the other races main cities (Hoelbraek, Rata Rum, etc) and from there go to the other races starting zone (Wafarer Foothils, Metrica Province etc).
Personally I did all of the starting zones to get a feel for my first character before I started moving up in the zones. This gave me a bit of extra coin, a few more skill points, some traits and a just over all better time learning the game.
Hope this helped.
Good luck and happy hunting!
I was in a group that did the jump over the gate once…
They all swore it was faster to do it this way and that it had to be done because you could get in another zillion runs before you could open the gate the normal way…
After 15 minutes of watching these ‘pros’ fail over and over and over again to make zomgwtfbbqkitty only way to do the dungeon jump I couldn’t take it anymore and left
What jumping puzzle is it? Its got me curious now.
The Not So Secret jumping puzzle in Gendarran Fields. There are 2 paths up the puzzle one for the diving goggles and one for the chest.
Eight months ago, on the 21st of November in the year 2012 it was announced in a news post by Chris Whiteside that Anet was “Revamping all of our existing dungeons (Story and Explorable versions) through rebalance and overhauled encounters.”
Have any significant changes happened to any dungeon other than Ascalonian Catacombs?
Is the revamping still in the works?
Have the changes been scraped or delayed due to the split response to the AC changes?
There are a lot of changes announced in the most recent news post by Colin Johanson. Is the revamp coming after some of these changes due to balancing of more stats from the Ascended armor and weapons?
Just curious about the satus of the remaining dungeons.
All of the above plus the ability to buy things in bulk.
I don’t want to click this vendor 250 times…. but I need the items so I guess I’ll just accept that carpel tunnel is a part of the challenge to the game…
Also the trading post is awful… It desperately needs more sorting options. Especially in the armor sections (light, medium, heavy for example).
Are they the PvP exotics from the Achievement point rewards chests?
If so you need to buy a PvP salvage kit for 100 glory in the mists in order to salvage them. If you regularly click deposit collectables these exotics will be placed into your PvP locker and only duplicates will remain in your bags.
If they are karma exotics you are not able to salvage or vendor them but you should be able to put them in the forge if I am remembering correctly.
Kill champions for a chance at a chance at a new crafting material once per day.
This wouldn’t be so funny if I weren’t afraid of it being true…
An easier way to fix this problem would to just let the player click ‘clam chowder’ and the system auto makes all of the intermmediate ingredients as long as you have the mats to do so.
This way you would never need to store anything other than base mats. The cumbersome, unwieldy, often unexplaind step of having the player manually create and store the intermmediate ingredients is extremely unforgivng.
Thanks to Vahkris for doing this.
Not to diminish Vahkris’ efforts though, but…
I just think he/she shouldn’t have had to. Someone at Anet must know when specific pieces of content are going away. They can’t just be adding content by the seat of their pants every 2 weeks and then ending it randomly. Surely there is a timeline somewhere.
If we could simply take the dates off of the timeline and put them on the release pages that would help a ton.
Thanks again for this. I’ll be using the dates you provided as a guideline since they make the most sense as you laid them out in the OP.
You misunderstand the point of the suggestion and I think you missed that the OP of both threads are the same. It was asked if a macro for this situation would be allowed and Anet confirmed that is is NOT allowed so the suggestion for it to be implemented in game so 3rd party programs and keyboards won’t be used.
That wasn’t really at the OP but more so the side discussion about ‘spamming f’ , ‘infinite loop’, ’it’s killing my keyboard’ etc, things that were going on.
I personally don’t see a need for automated looting or anything like that, but the only way anything like it could even be considered would be to have it as an option for everyone as part of the game. Which I really don’t see Anet doing anytime soon. They tend to move quite slowly when it comes to quality of life issues.
Gaile answered this exact same thing in another thread.
I believe you’ve misunderstood if you think this is something we’d condone. How is auto-looting not automating gameplay? How is “spamming” the “F” key still one key for one action? How would use of this not give advantage when compared to the player who is individually picking up loot?
Certainly the “Does it allow the player to play faster?” question can be answered in the affirmative. Does it? Yes. That clearly indicates use of this is not suitable use. Consider carefully before giving credence to one individual’s interpretation of a very clear set of parameters.
You may read the whole thread and gain some context for the quote here:

I had no issues getting the “your mail box is full” hint to pop, however the PvP hint where it has you travel to the heart of the mists simply will not pop for me.
I’ve tried using the button from the PvP menu on the top left of the screen.
I’ve tried zoning in from Lions Arch.
I’ve tried doing both of the above with 4 different characters.
I have all of the other PvP hints.
Is there a ‘special’ way to get this one to pop or am I just missing something?
This one and the engineer hints are all I need for completion. (have to wait to buy another character slot to make an engineer)
Also, I have a 2 other accounts (for my kids…mostly). Is there a way to link them all to a single email address?
Each Guild Wars 2 account must have a unique email address.
There is a pretty safe way to get around this requirement if you have a gmail account.
If your gmail address is mymail@gmail.com all you have to do is add a ‘+’ followed by a modifier.
For example mymail+parent@gmail.com is consiedered unique by Anet but will be forwarded by gmail. All of the mail sent to this address will be sent to mymail@gmail.com.
So you could use mymail+parent@gmail.com, mymail+child1@gmail.com and mymail+child2@gmail.com in order to use one email for three accounts. This is also a good way to add a bit of security to your account as well.

Here is a snippet from the forum update notes about the +1 system.
...there are two levels of popularity, categorized “popular” and “very popular”.Currently these are indicated by a thumbs-up icon that appears next to the +1 button. If a post is very popular, the thumbs-up earns a star that appears within said icon.
Our future plans include updating these indicators to something more visually striking. Until then, this is how you will know if a post has achieved popular status.
There are also two levels in which posts are gauged for popularity, on a per-thread basis and forum-wide. Forum-wide popularity takes into account +1s from within a set time period across the forum. Per-thread popularity takes into account all +1s in a thread. Visually, a forum-wide popular post will have a red underline beneath the thumbs-up icon.

Wukulin, since release extended potion of ghost slaying has been bugged so when you ‘learn’ it, potion of undead slaying appears in your craft menu……Yay for weird bugs…
Actually they fixed this just a couple of patches ago.
It actually is a Ghost Slaying potion now, however it is really exspensive compared to the other extended potions.
I’ll see if I can find the quote or patch note were they said they fixed it.
Edit:
Found it

•The Extended Potion of Ghost Slaying recipe now makes the correct potion.

<snip>
You’re welcome
Regarding the cost factor: if it becomes too expensive to make this particular food (mushroom loaf), people simply won’t by it. That’s the beauty of market forces. If, for example, the Rosemary sprig market goes out of control, people won’t make mushroom loaf, which means people won’t buy rosemary sprigs, which means that the cost of rosemary sprigs should come down until it’s at an acceptable level again. Same with orrian steak frites: if those hooked on mushroom loaf cannot afford it anymore, they will turn to orrian steak frites, which will spike the price of lotus roots (amongst others) which will lead to an increased price of orrian steak frites.
The market see-sawing is why I think they should have used the gathering instead of the TP prices to balance the cost of the new recipes. If the market is riding a wave, following trends or some other term for prices fluctuating how could they hope to balance more new recipes?
Ultimately more new recipes is what I want. I just have doubts that using the TP prices is the most effiecient way to ensure that more recipes will keep coming. Especially as each (warning: incoming pun intended) ‘flavor’ of the month recipe swings the balance on the TP. Making it harder to determine where, how and what to add for each one.
You are right about the investors. That is why I think a better way to ‘fix’ these particular recipes is to increase the yield from 1 to a lot more than 1.
From http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Molten_Facility
Recipe sheet, 3 Fused Metal Scraps or Molten Core or Glacial Core
Recipe: Bowl of Garlic Kale Sautee
Recipe: Bowl of Refugee’s Beet Soup
Recipe: Bowl of Sweet and Spicy Butternut Squash Soup
Recipe: Bowl of Zesty Turnip Soup
Recipe: Carrot Soufflé
Recipe: Mushroom Loaf
Recipe: Plate of Frostgorge Clams
Recipe: Plate of Spicy Herbed Chicken
Recipe: Spicy Marinated Mushroom
Recipe: Infinite Molten Berserker Tonic
I believe it is a complete list.
@Buttercup,
I totally agree about the conveinence factor.
My problem, issue or concern whatever you want to call it lies in exactly what you pointed out with the TP. Recipes should not be introduced based on cost of ingredients on the TP. The TP can flux then the whole balance is out of whack.
Are they going to keep adding recipes everytime the pricing on the TP shifts?
This is just my opinion, and it might be right or wrong or somewhere in the middle, but the ingredients should be based on gathering the items and what can be directly purchased from NPC vendors.
Right now you spend 9 extra silver. Would that still be ok if the TP shifts and you are spending 19, 29 or 39 extra silver?
Anyway I agree that there should be a bit of a conveinence tax for the double duration I just think that in the case of these new Flame & Frost recipes that it is too high.
Not that it matters anyway… I think at this point I am mostly talking to myself about this…
Oh and thank you for the WvW perspective. I was basing my opinion mostly of dungeons, fractal and general PvE. Always good to round out the information.
Here is a direct example illustrating where the concern with these new recipies is coming from.
(First let me point out that the only difference in these recipes is the duration and nothing else)
Mushroom Loaf vs. Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes:
Mushroom Loaf Yields 1 mushroom loaf
- 20 Portabello Mushrooms
- 20 Mushrooms
- 5 Rosemary Sprig
- 2 Balls of Dough
- 2 sticks of butter
- 2 jugs of water
- 2 bags of flour
Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes Yields 1 Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes
- 1 Slab of Red Meat
- 1 Cup of Lotus Fries
- 1 Lotus Root
- 1 Jar of Vegetable Oil
- 1 Pile of Salt and Pepper
- 1 Packet of Salt
- 1 Black Peppercorn
See the discrepancy?
The Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes only needs 3 items to be gathered per 30 minute buff, the rest of the ingredients are purchased from the master chef whereas the Mushroom loaf needs 47 items to be gathered per 60 minute buff and still needs item purchased from the master chef.
Am I glad new recipes were added? Absolutely.
Do these new recipes need to be adjusted? Absolutely.
How that adjustment comes about is another matter.
Is it ok to to reduce the amounts required? Sure if they are reduced enough.
However I think a better option would be to just increase the yield of the recipe. For example the recipe above should yield at least 8, preferably 10 mushroom loaves to be competitive with it’s 30 minute counterpart and I do think they should be competitive.
I do agree there should be a small ingredient tax on the convience of having the extended duration. The keyword there is ‘small’. As it stands now there is no tough choice to make. The 30 minute recipe wins by such a large margin that even if you were given the ingredients for the mushroom loaf you would be better of selling them and then making a mountain of steak frittes.

I would like the dye panel to be for your entire account. I just don’t think Anet will ever do it.
All I can do is speak for myself with the following statements.
I would certainly being willing to actually buy some dyes from the store if two things happened
1)they weren’t random mystery packs
2)they were account bound.
Just my thoughts…
This suggestion comes up from time to time as you can see here:

You’re right that we do have a lot of currencies. We certainly know we could improve the experience here
Simply move all currencies (WvW Badges, Dungeon Tokens, Fractal Tokens) to to bottom of your inventory just like money, laurels and karma and stack via account not characters and we are good to go. This should have been in from the start.
^^This is really all that needs to be said.
The new food buffs last twice as long as other food buffs i believe.
That’s all well and good, but the requirements to make them are significantly more than double. And since food stacks, I don’t see 10x the cost/materials for twice the duration as a good investment at all.
I’m all for new cooking recipes and new stat combinations for consumables, but I really think you guys should go back to the drawing board on these new recipes.
^^This….
Buff = 2x as long
Cost = 20x more
There is an order of magnitude disparity between them, that is the issue.
^^And this…
Double duration for over ten times the amount of ingredients is just not worth it, might as well have not added them at all for all the use they will see.
I would love for them to add Guild Halls where would could aquire our own vendors, merchants, repairsmith, crafters, bank access, display guild acheivements etc. but if, IF they even consider adding them they will probably take 10,000 guild merits or some other crazy thing.
I’d still like to hope that some sort of re-work for guild missions is in the works. Nothing worse than being in a small guild, finally unlocking the bounties, finding your target, only to have a bigger guild snake the kill before your members make it or have some randoms go all leeroy on komali or something…. but that is another thread….
The main issues with this the stats of the items you are storing. Many items can have the same skins, but different stats.
No stats would be stored at all, only the skin would be in the wardrobe / locker.
The appearance would come from your ‘wardrobe’ or ‘locker’ and the stats would come from the item in your inventory.
There are many ‘wardrobe’, ‘skin bank’ or ‘pve locker’ requests here in the suggestions forums.
However this one below seems to have the most traction, and by that I mean views and posts. Here is the link:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Why-Skin-Wardrobe-should-be-a-high-priority/first
It would be nice if there was some sort of inkling from Anet whether or not they would even consider a PvE Locker or Wardrobe or something. Maybe it’ll be in the personal housing instance.
Just discovered your DB. Very cool.
It’s pretty helpful.
The only thing I’d ask for is, after finding an item that it provided a direct link to the recipe.
Thanks for all the work you put in already
I added direct links to each item’s official wiki page, you can click on the item names now.
Hope that helps, those pages should normally display the recipes.
Wow. That was fast!
This made my chef very, very happy
And just so you know I’ll be recommending this resource to just about anyone that will listen
Thanks again for all your time and effort on this!

We will certainly (as much certainty as the continuation of SAB) be making at least one Super Skin for every weapon in the game.
Yay. This is good news and I eagerly await the new skins.
But in order to make each release somewhat special I’m pretty sure we are going to retire the current set after April. I don’t think we will have the same set of Super Skins at our next release.
Boo! I really, really disklike, when games do this. What about those people that simply don’t have the time to get all the skins they want? What about people that start playing after the next release?
One time skins are bad. Very bad.
A bit off topic but I’m even a fan of the idea to put, Tixx and Mad King levels inside Fractals of the Mists with a chance to drop the skins from those events. It would be far more difficult to get a skin through FotM but at least the chance would be there, and if you didn’t get what you wanted the skin would again be available again during those holiday events.
To sum up.
Every time a skin is introduced through a special event that skin needs to return every time the event does.
Here is the wiki page for apparatus aquirement
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Breathing_apparatus
As far as I know if a particular apparatus is available as one type of armor it is available for all 3.
There are 50 (spread across 5 zones) periscopes in the game that you are able to loot an audio log from once per account per day.
Here are the maps with the locations of all 50
http://dulfy.net/2013/03/26/gw2-sonic-periscope-audio-log-guide/
http://gw2crafts.net/ is a dynamically created guide for any of the 8 crafting professions. You can choose whether or not you want cheap, fast, traditional or karma costs.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/links/Always-current-crafting-guides/first#post1227877 is the forum thread posted by the creator of the site.
Allthough they aren’t video guides they are well explained. Also once you do one profession the rest become easier.
IF I could buy the specific colors I wanted I would buy a few of those colors. The shades of blue are fantastic.
However, I am disappointed once again. I simply will NOT buy anything from the gem store that is character bound or gated behind a money grubbing screw over your player RNG. I will not spend actual money for a ‘chance’ to get what I actually want.
Disappointed
It would be nice to know what’s going on with this particular rune.
I always thought it was odd that minor and major were boon duration but then superior wasn’t.
Your PvP gear has 6/6 superior rune of the ranger as well. That is why it is displaying 12/6. You still need all 6 on your gear to granted the effects.
It is a display only bug and has been reported numerous times. It’s just low on the priority list of things to fix since it is a display only issue.
Was glad to see the fix go out on the potion of ghost slaying in the most recent patch (especially with the AC revamp coming with it) but was then swiftly disappointed after finding out the recipe included charged lodestones.
Comparing with most of the other recipes for pots this is the only one with a ridiculous value in the ingredients (except possibly icebrood aswell which uses corrupted lodes). Generally the most expensive component is a t6 blood for example.
If its compared directly with the powerful flame legion recipe the cost of the lodestone alone for the ghost pot is virtually 3 times the cost of the entire recipe for FL.
Seems rather silly to me that one of the most difficult to acquire and certainly the most expensive lodestone is a ingredient in a recipe that is most likely to be used in a dungeon aimed at level 35+ players. I appreciate the recipe was probably designed early on before the games economy had developed as it has today but might I suggest a cheaper selection of ingredients to make the cost of this pot more in line with the cost of similar pots?
This sums up my thoughts exactlty.
The patch note in question:
“The Caudecus’s Manor vendor in Lion’s Arch now correctly offers the Major Rune of the Monk.”
This has me confused. Seraph Outfitter Eva, the Caudecus Manor dungeon vendor, should be selling rune of the noble. Right?
Runes of the monk come from Ascolonian Catacombs and Historian Symon.
Are the runes from CM changing? Are there supposed to be monk runes in both places? Is this a patch note typo?
Am I totally off base?
The chest only appears once per day.
Has this chest always been this way?
Are there other meta events, or any other event at all really, that will only spawn a chest once per day?
I ask because I find it quite odd that I can kill the Shatterer, Tequatl, the Fire Elemental in thaumanova reactor, or even the frozen maw multiple times in the day and receive a chest each time but that the Shadow Behemoth is the only meta event boss that has this limitation.
Not only should they make them account bound, but they should allow you to MF superior runes/sigils.
Nothing dumber then having half of the superior runes and sigils be worth less then major ones because you can’t MF them. Would also help stabilize prices between low and high end of sigils/runes.
Exactly this.
Never from salvaging… but talking about weird loot… I once got 2 badges of honor in Twilight Arbor story mode >.<
You can get 1-2 badges of honor as a rare drop from Faolain’s phantasms in Twilight Arbor’s Story mode.
I have never seen a dye drop from anything other than a mob or a plant. Wonder how many other people have received dyes from salvaging?
Had a post in one of the other threads that was closed so i’ll repost it here.
A few questions about this Colin if you would be so kind.
How does this affect those of us that have solo’d champions only to receive no loot at all? It seems to me that if you solo something you should be guarenteed kill credit, but this is currently not what people are seeing in game.
Does this mean that a player needs to do a certain amount of damage over a certain amount of time? Or is there another factor that we can not see on our end?
Does this change mean that if you solo a champion you are 100% guarenteed to receive a drop of at least blue quality?
Dear loot powers that be,
I would like to reiterate my desire for a hint, but nothing too specific.
Is there any way it would be possible to give us a hint in the form of an eliminator? For example could you tell us the event we are looking for “is not in Kryta” or “is not in a zone below level 50.” Or something to that effect.
Something as simple as those elimination examples would go a long way in narrowing down the search over a very large world.
Thank you.
