I would polish the living kitten out of this game. It needs a SERIOUS polishing.
Glad that that’s what they’re slowly doing.
Polish faster.
Compared to Runescape’s micro-transaction store, I’de say the Gemstore is an example of price gouging.
In runescape, they let me buy whole sets of armor overrides (skins) for about the same price as the Gem Store’s useless hats. Not only that:
- They have customisable pets that start off as a baby, grow into an adult. As they grow they acquire abilities that you can use while you are skilling and killing. These cost as much as the infinite gathering tools.
- They have animation overrides that turn the usual skilling animation into something funny or less monotonous. Costs $3-5.
- They have customisable armor set overrides.
- They have convenience items like extra bank space and pet growth treats for around $1 each. Bank space on GW2 is $7.50 for 100 slots and $5 for an extra bag slot.
Let’s not forget, everything is unlocked and accessed from an interface so I don’t get screwed with storage problems.
Risen Squire’s charge does it. Its a bug that happens to me every time but I shake it off.
I would polish the living kitten out of this game. It needs a SERIOUS polishing.
That’s great. I am going to do nothing and not care about voting because neither parties never improve anything anyway.
There is this thing call “Situational Awareness”…
I’m making my first heavy class, but i’m undecided which one to pick.
So if you have the time, please give me the goods and bads from your perspective on both classes, as it will help me pick one.
I would place those 10 points in the line of my choosing.
Dear Player,
Thank you for enjoying our game. We’ve enclosed a giant box of free stuff for you to enjoy.
Love
Anet. <3
Dear Anet,
kitten you.
Hate,
Player
Unless you wanna activate an On-crit sigil, no its not that great. In pve if you group melees in front of you and spam it with SoM you will get the most out of it.
I have maxed jewelcrafting and weaponsmthing. I am allowed 1 Charged Quartz per day. 5 for inscription and 5 for a trinket.
Takes 5 days to get all of the materials together to make one weapon or trinket.
It would also have to be class specific too. This would be a pain in the kitten to do as well as balance. I would love to see it nonetheless.
AMG lvl 14 guard killing OP lvl 80 thief? GUARDIAN IS OP AS kitten NERF IT!!!
:P
:O I thought thieves were immortal in stealth!
/sarcasm
You’ve effectively killed zerging. You have also killed WvW.
Break your finger like the rest of us.
Dear anet,
Push my easy button for me.
Love,

Living Story > Content.
I fixed that for you
Thank you! I was a little tired when I was writing that.
If you do everything, you will get dailies done regardless.
Ill be fine with a dagger version of Twilight with an extended brush effect.
kthxbye
Maybe they WANTED to be “Lords”. Ever thought of that?
That is because they are “Cat-like”. Doesn’t mean they are cats. :P
I am more than happy. This is the first update I actually appreciate Anet making. I just hope they do more updates like this.
How about this:
1.) Limit max amount of players from one server to 50 for all maps.
2.) Redo maps with more objectives to take and less space inbetween.
3.) Add plenty more maps.
4.) Map designs should reflect events from different times or completely obscure and otherworldly areas like this.
Rifle. We are in serious need of more ranged options.
The problem with this thread is that OP is only complaining and not providing any solution to the problem.
Then again, OP does know what a problem is. I just hope Anet devs would look at the QQ FROM BOTH SIDES and perhaps play a thief to know the difference between whakittens like on paper and how it REALLY works.
When will this class start being useful elsewhere anet???
I think they gave up on it tbh. I mean that in all seriousness.
I don’t think they gave up but I do believe they are going in the wrong direction.

Do you believe that shining an Asuran Laser Pointer on a wall will get a Charr’s attention so much so that they will try to catch it?
Do you believe that Skritt is tasty to a Charr and that they will capture one and bring it home? Perhaps drop it on the floor in front of his/her mate to show off his/her prize?
Will a Charr purr if you scratch them underneath their chin or on their back?
What do you guys think?
@Zachary I completely agree, and that’s my issue. What if I’m a serious player, and don’t want to troll? shouldn’t thieves(rouge/assassin) be masters of 1v1’s? With high burst/dps on a focused target? Thieves are ok I just feel like they aren’t thieves. idk I feel like to be good at this game you only have two options. Tank or glass cannon.(unless you’re a warrior cause then you’re both w/o the glass part lol) And for thieves we aren’t the best Tanks nor the best Glass Cannons. We’re not bad, far from it lol but we’re not good either. So in my personal opinion I think every class should excel at something, isn’t that the point of picking a profession anyways? Meh I feel like I’m not expressing myself correctly. Thieves are good, just not at what they’re supposed to be good at. That’s just my personal opinion. Meh sorry Zacchary most of this isn’t directed at you it’s kinda just a comment on my post lol you just sorta spawned the idea for me, and I got carried away.
This is my build that I normally use nowadays.
It has worked well for me in both WvW and PvE. Raw DPS sucks but it uses plenty of evades and has some access to might and initiative regen. It definitely can hold up its own against 95% of Orr.
The purpose of this thread is to help thieves that use stealth to explore viable builds beyond stealth (so that thieves can still rip a new kitten without giving other classes an excuse to complain).
What I ask is that those with builds that uses VERY LITTLE TO ZERO STEALTH to post them here with build descriptions and instructions on how to use it. I also challenge anyone who normally uses stealth to try out, master and perhaps tweak the builds posted on here USING THE LEAST AMOUNT OF STEALTH POSSIBLE.
Again, the purpose is to explore and broaden thieves’ arsenal (and give other professions no room for excuses). I’ll start off the build I use everywhere.
Zach’s Basic Bleedy-Dodgy Build
About this build:
The purpose of this bleeding condition build is to stack and maintain bleeds while keeping a dodge available. This build has possibly the highest synergy of any thief build.
Notes:
- Initiative Regen: HIGH
3 Initiative is gained every 10 seconds from Quick Recovery and Infiltrator’s Signet passive. Extra initiative is gained though Opportunist (20% chance on crit to gain 1 initiative). Every signet gives you 2 initiative upon use (Signet Use Trait) up to 8 initiative every 24 seconds maximum. Stealing gives you 3 Initiative every 29.25 seconds.
- Suvivability: MEDIUM to MAXIMUM
Armor is just under 2400. Health is just under 17.5k. Signet of Malice heals per hit and per person affected by Caltrop ticks. The amount of available evades/dodges are maximised by Feline Grace (Endurance regen on dodge), Vigorous Recovery (Vigor on heal), Signet of Agility Active (Refill Endurance), Death Blossom (combine with Initiative regen and +3 Initiative from Preparedness) and Wild Strike (2nd 1-skill). Cloak and Dagger is only used to give yourself time to regroup. Signet of Agility cures 1 condition. Infiltrator’s Signet breaks stun and will set you up for a counterattack.
How to Use this Build:
Every action you perform has more than one use making it’s level of utility VERY HIGH. Combining these uses will give you the most out of build. I will list and describe them here.
Basics: Spam Death Blossom and Caltrops when near your enemy. Use Heartseeker to get close or finish your target when they are about 5-10% HP. Spin2Win as an opener vs. small group. Time signets properly to maximize DPS, conditions and dodging.
Protips:
- Dodging through or away from a charging enemy is a good way to apply cripple and keep up your Bleed and Might stacks.
- You can use Heartseeker as a gap-closer instead of as a means of damage.
- Damage from your Heartseeker means you are close enough to land all 3 hits from Death Blossom.
- Heartseeker > Dancing Dagger can be used to make chasing enemies easier.
- You can replace Infiltrator’s Signet with Signet of Shadows for a AoE Blind/2 Initiative/5 Might source that is safer to use directly after cooldown. The cost of doing so is removing your only stun breaker.
- You an also use all signets and switch your second best source of AoE bleeding with better access to might and initiative. I wouldn’t advise using Assassin’s Signet, though.
- You can use Spin2Win (Signet of Malice + Dagger Storm) as an opener vs a small group. I like to keep it close to my first target so I can quickly stack bleeds after it stops.
- When your target gets around 30% health, you can pop all of your signets to speed up the bleed out and then down them with a Heartseeker, so long as the situation allows.
- If the group you are fighting is manageable and your HP is around 65%, using the Signet of Malice Active will only benefit you. Use it with caution, however.
- Caltrops will heal you for 133 per person affected per tick when Signet of Malice is not on cooldown.
- This build ruins mobility and will rip apart high mobility classes and other thieves if used properly.
- Constant Cripple on a Thief is funny.
- Use CnD ONLY when you need a few seconds break. Otherwise, you are kittening yourself out of initiative that could be used for bleeds.
- You can replace Acrobatics III for VII or VIII for more situational survivability.
- You only apply 2 conditions. If facing a necro that transfers these conditions, you can brush it off with Signet of Agility, reapply the bleeds and then laugh as they are taking more damage.
Pros:
- Perfect for sadists.
- Consta-dodge.
- Consta-cripple.
- Consta-bleeding.
- Decent access to might.
- Everything you do will boost another part of your build.
- Good multipurpose build.
- Safe vs Condition Transfer. (for me anyway)
Con:
- Buff-humping guards will kill you.
- Cripple will kill you if you let it.
- Raw damage output sucks.
- You are kittened if CC lands.
Post dem builds! GOGOGO!

whut?
Thieves are good for trolling in WvW, blast finishers and mass stealthing.
I just spent the past 2 hours in WvW stabbing holes in keep walls when I happened upon zergs when I met another thief who showed displeasure in my hole-making and thus challenged me to a duel.
So I pulled out my Greatsword and began smacking her around until she grabbed a mechanical horse out of nowhere. That’s when I decided to turn myself into a mechanical dragon since dragons > horses and trolled her by spamming interrupts. I knew my trolling was working because she managed to dodge one of my more powerful attacks and then slash me in the back with dual greatswords. It hurt but not as much as the Flare I shoved in her face.
I decided to kitten with her for the next 3 minutes. I can’t describe how furious she was so I went back in time and recorded it.

Living Story > Guild Roster.
I am trying to make a build that lays down Chilled alot. Currently I am using:
Giver’s Daggers x2 (20% Condition Duration)
Superior Rune of Svanir x2 (20% Chilled Duration)
Superior Rune of the Ice x2 (20% “Frozen” Duration)
Superior Rune of Grenth x2 (20% Chilled Duration)
20 points in Deadly Arts x2 (20% Condition Duration)
Even though these should have effectively doubled the duration of Chilled applied to enemies Ice Drake Venom remains at 1 1/2 seconds Chilled Duration, 50% increase from the usual 1 second.
Is there some cap to the duration of Chilled Ice Drake Venom can give? Because if not, this is a bug.
Ok, seriously, thieves really need a buff and all but they DO NOT need a nerf when it comes to stealth. Here’s a little tip….THIEVES ARE NOT MAGICALLY INVULNERABLE WHILE IN STEALTH!
When a thief enters stealth conditions still effect them and they can still be hit from attacks. Oh and there is actually a way to take thieves out from a stealth under certain circumstances. Yet, there’s no point in explaining to people who don’t understand the thief.
I can fight thieves 1v1 and have no issues, because i know the class and I can anticipate certain things. Also, because I understand the thief I have had time where I down them from full health while they are completely in stealth.
If you want to nerf stealth, why don’t we also nerf things that completely make up a class, like a guardian’s barriers or a mesmer’s clones and phantoms, or maybe the necro’s minion and conditions?
What i’m trying to say is that stealth is what makes the thief a thief, nerf that and we are sitting ducks.

Ranged and support dies first.
I do a consta-dodge d/d bleed build. It works better for me in PvE than s/p.
I heard we also 1-hit Keep Lords.
It isn’t political correctness. It would be political correctness if it was called:
World-to-World Tactical Unit Imbalance
as “Outnumbered” is a discouraging term to use in combat.
If they would fix the kittening lag I would go there more often. I can run with maybe 2-5 other people before FPS starts sucking. This keeps pushing me back to sieging which I am useful with.
Or, you know, everyone could learn how to fight against stealth?
Its surprisingly easy.
It’s an issue with any mechanic that allows one tactic to be used in all situation (see stealth).
Protip: Stealth is effective against scrubs.
Nobody online is willing to admit lack of talent.. so this is moot discussion.
This.
I run a d/d bleed build. It works just fine.
Will people watch Caed to see how thieves work so they don’t come to suggestions/thief forums kittening about how they got instagibd?
If so ==> :D
o. o
….. they test things in this game?
