The new weapon skins and costume hints at cantha.
In GW1 GvG was a 5vs5 type of map with some PvE in it.
I think the Revenant will get these weapons available.
- Staff
- Hammer
- Axe
- Sword
- Shield
- Dagger
- Focus
I think Warrior will get Dagger as a weapon. Hard hitting attacks that sacrifice your own armor.
Guild Halls is a place for your guild to meet and communicate. You can build stuff, arrange events, roleplay and store items in your guild bank. Maybe more. You can use it as a place to meet before going into WvW,GvG, raids or a dungeon.
It seems like specialization is a part of endgame progression. Colin said something about becoming a Druid in Heart of the Maguuma and that region is for lvl 80s. I also hope specializations is lvl 80 content because GW2 needs more and better endgame progression.
You don’t know how much content there is.

With the new region Heart of the Maguuma there will also be zones in that region. A region usually have a few zones in them and even racial cities. If you look at Kryta there’s Queensdale, Kessex Hills, Harathi Hinterlands, Gandarran Fields + two cities, Lion’s Arch and Divnity’s Reach. Then there’s Bloodtide Coast and Sparkfly fen.
I think ArenaNet underwhelmed us or weren’t totally precise. I assume there will be at least three new zones and a racial city. The new racial city will most likely be the city of the Mursaat. What ever the name of their city is.
I’m pretty sure there will be at least three new zones. Heart of the Maguuma is the region and a region usually have a few zones in them. I would personally assume that the playable demo will be more or less a finished product.
They don’t have to completely build an engine and so after all, and have probably already spent almost two years working on it.
I would say that the closed beta will start soon after PAX, with a aim for release around the 10th anniversary of the series (April).
If I was optimistic I would say the same as you, but I’ve learned it’s never good to be optimistic and expect something really good from anyone or anything.
With the demo being att PAX in 6 weeks I think we are about 6 months away from the release of the expansion. I would assume a closed beta of Heart of Thorns will be in May and keep going to June, open beta in July and the release will be in August or September.
That may be the case. If they are going to make classes more specced into a certain role then I can see this become a very good thing. Then I may be wrong in my statement.
They are maybe trying to split weapons between specializations, if there are more than one specialization for each class. I can give an example below.
Class: Ranger
Specialization: Druid (Support)
- The Druid uses Staffs, Swords and Horns to support his team with CC and heals.
Specialization: Beastmaster (Damage Dealer)
- The beastmaster uses Greatswords and Longbows with his pet to overcome his enemies.
Specialization: Survivalist (Tank)
- The Survivalist uses Daggers, Shortbows and Torches and lays traps to survive against his enemies.

I don’t think specializations will be so special they say. We know that Ranger can become Druid and the other classes can evovle further as well. ArenaNet makes it to sound as if it will become an entire new class, but rather it’s just a new name because of the new weapon.
Let’s take Druid as an example.
Ranger can become a Druid and he now gains Staff as a new weapon, he also gains new healing skills, utility skills and elite skills and new traits. You can still use the old ranger weapons and all that, but now instead of being called a ranger you’re now a Druid because you can use a Staff as an addition to the currently available weapons and skills.
Don’t expect Druid to be an entire new type of class. It will be an upgraded Ranger with new additions.
I’m really looking forward to this though.
When is the Tengu going to be released. In a living world update after/before Heart of Thorns or in the next expansion?
It seems like it’s the Dervish from GW1 with some Ritualist as well. I spent more than 3000 hours in GW1 so I know what this is.
The Revenant seems to be able to switch between legends in combat and go from physical AoE damage to for example condition AoE damage. Very much like the Dervish. We don’t know much more than that though, Revenant may have more skills from some other class, maybe Ritualist.
Ritualist could make her weapon stronger by enchanting it with magical energies from other worlds and it seems like the Revenant can do the same.
Shiro Tagachi would be my favorite legend to summon. We fought him in Factions and he was such a kitten force, he turned all of Cantha into a sea of jade and the monsters died and turned into abominations. While he also was an excellent master assassin.
Season 3 and no expansion.
NcSoft said in their report that there will be an expansion 2015 and it will not be free.
NcSoft did not say this.
Yes they did say it. Have you seen the report?
http://www.kdbdw.com/bbs/download/192028.pdf?attachmentId=192028
“Also, in 2015, NCsoft is expected to roll out an expansion pack for Guild Wars 2, which
has sold more than 3mn copies since its release in 2012 in the US and Europe. We
assumed in our 2015 earnings estimates Guild Wars 2 expansion pack sales of around
2mn copies (US$50 per copy), and note that the expansion packs for Guild Wars 1 have
sold almost as much as the original game in the year of their release.”
NcSoft said in their report that there will be an expansion 2015 and it will not be free.
That would be really amazing.
What does samurai give that warrior (for the more mundane form) and guardian (for a more mystical version) do not?
Cantha actually didn’t have samurai, but warriors who used Asian-themed armour and Asian-themed weapons. As illustration, searching the GW1 wiki reveals no in-game instances of the term. A samurai is essentially a warrior who stems from the nobility – who probably has better equipment and training than a common soldier, but is still a warrior nonetheless.
The proposal breaks two of the rules for ArenaNet’s profession philosophy:
1) It’s essentially a variation of an existing profession. ArenaNet has stated that they are only likely to introduce a new profession if it has a playstyle as distinct from existing professions as they are from each other. (Not in those exact words – this was nearly a decade ago now – but that was the message.)
2) It’s a profession that only fits one race, since what distinguishes it from other soldiers is essentially cultural, and the other races don’t have a samurai culture.
I can see tengu-themed heavy armour being samurai-themed, but a samurai profession per se is highly unlikely.
There is the potential for tengu to introduce a new profession to Tyria – possibly something involving ritualism, if the lore behind that form of magic can be used for mechanics that are distinct from the engineer – but it’s likely to be no more strongly tied to tengu than guardians for humans and engineers for charr. Namely, that it arose from a particular culture, but there are no elements to it that mean that it’s specific to that culture.
It doesn’t have to be the standard samurai. It could be more of an assassin type of samurai with force techniques and spiritual attunement. I could see it being something like Dervish/Ritualist.
If they make Tengu a new playable race which seems logical. It also seems logical to make a Samurai class or something like it, it will most likely be a heavy armor class. Cantha had Samurai (not playable class) and Tengu are from Cantha, so I guess Samurai makes most sence.
I guess they would create a new starter Personal Story for Tengu, like every race have their own story until a certain level, then it goes into the Order part and the hunt for Zhaitan. It wouldn’t fit into the story though, as the Tengu isolated themselves.
It would be neat. The golemancer would always have a golem by his side or be able to mount it. The Golemancer can also summon tiny golems for a short time that can do certain things.
This looks amazing, I want it! Especially the lore tab.
Its a mod that allows auto casting, and for example can hold down the right mouse button for you, which gives you an advantage, and could be classed as botting. so not allowed.
You can do the same with the core game system. If you don’t bot then you’re not a victim.
An ArenaNet dev explaining here that it’s not bannable.
That’s a shame though. Do they want people to enjoy their game fully or enjoy their game as they created it?
ESO allows all kinds of mods. GW2 should at least some to a degree.
I want some answers on this because this addon is much better than the core game combat mode. It’s much more enjoyable like this and I don’t see why anyone should get banned for using it. Can you get banned for using this mod?
I just looked through the new mordrem weapons and they have very low detail compared to the other weapons. Also they have a white glow, is it to compensate for the low detail?
If they had more details they would be really amazing.
Heart of Thorns is most likely an expansion. It’s like 99% leaning toward an expansion and not Season 3 of the LS.
What I expect we get from this expansion by looking at this forum and interviews by ArenaNet.
- GvG
- Guild Halls
- Personal Housing
- Gameplay rework (less berserker and more roles needed)
- Raids
- New weapons
- New race
- New zones
- New story
- Personal story rework
- WvW rework
- Dota SPvP
- New skills including elite skills. (with shorter cooldown)
- New class (This one is maybe not very likely but there’s a possibility)

So a few months ago I made a thread on how ArenaNet will release content and I think I was right.
They start off with living story and at the finale of the living story an expansion is released to fight an elder dragon. Once Modremoth is killed by us a new season of the living story will release and at the end of that season finale there will be another expansion to fight an elder dragon, and so it will keep going.
It’s pretty obvious now.
Title implies and logo implies that we’ll be fighting the dragon, whatever was his name, and we’ll probably be in the area where he resides.
It’s not an expansion. It’s the Season 3.
Think about it, they can’t possibly add full scale (current gw2 map size) expansion just basing it on Maguuma.
If we compare it to GW1. GW1 only had 1 expansion and that was Eye of the North. The other game additions were not expansions, they were campaigns. Eye of the north didn’t add as much as the campaigns, so if Heart of Thorns is an expansion and unlocks entire Maguuma that is totally udnerstandable for an expasnion. I could see it being more than 5 zones at least but there will also be raids, new dungeons and other stuff.
I did the jumping puzzle and didn’t get the Green Ball Ornament from the grand chest. Now I’m left with 5/6 in collections.
I have a lot of empyreal fragments, where can I trade them for Star of Gratitude?
If there’s content like in Faction and Nightfall and even Eye of the North it will keep players a long time.
A 40% advantage in stats is A LOT.
Dragonian
The dragonian is a new race produced by experimenting with the elder dragons DNA. They take the form (theme) of an elder dragon and gain different advantages (racial skills).
I think the majority on this forum and playerbase don’t expect ArenaNet to deliver any amazing content like an expansion or a huge content update. Some guy said ArenaNet are working on “stuff”. And? Show a tiny fracture of that stuff and we might believe you. Just a little hint.
It’s Ogden’s way of trolling you because you laughed at his bald head.
This warrior trait though.
Hatred Power Major Increases damage by 25% when health is below 50%.
ArcheAge would be better if it didn’t have the labor system.
I’m pretty sure that works.
Elementalist and Engineer should have an out of combat weapon swap which is only available out of combat. This will make it easier when swapping builds and also to get around the map when using leap skills etc.
I heard there is coming an expansion called Rise of the Tengu. When is this expansion planned to release, will we see new classes, new weapons and new features? Maybe it’s the perfect time to reveal Guild Halls, Personal Housing and GvG battles!
I hope it’s going to add a lot of nice things and also improve on things.
Which specific role do you think the 2-handed axe should fill?
For example they can’t give a 2-handed axe as a weapon choice for Warriors and make it a Melee aoe damage weapon because that’s what the GS does.
I think it could serve as a condition damage weapon that uses AoE. Got me thinking of Dread Knight which uses curses to make his enemies weaker and torment them.
For warrior it’s pretty much only sword that has conditions but it’s mostly for bleeding and its AoE is small frontal. Longbow is mostly fire and ranged.
There is one two-handed axe but it’s a toy since way back. I think it looks awesome and it would be neat to release it as a new weapon type soon. This is how it looks!
So with the new changes to rewards in the story, you now have to grind the two other armor pieces. They cost 1k Bandit Crests EACH. So to get both the gloves and shoulders you need 4k. Then imagine the full set of legs, chest, helmet, gloves, shoulders and boots.
6×2 is 12. So you need a total of 12k Bandit Crest for the full set of luminiscent armor and to get all three sets. Do you expect the zone to be full of people in 6 months? I feel bad for the ones who are trying to farm the armor.
