“I was making fun of OP for complaining about getting stuff for AP.”
Sry, this really will my last post regarding this.
When did I ever complain?
My whole point was, and still, is, the fact that these badges
are-tailored-towards-a-specific-aspect-of-the-game.
They are useless for anyone else.
We’ll, perhaps not useless then, but certainly not considered valid rewards. And that fact makes them a redundant part for anyone who has worked to his or hers achievement count in the hope that there will a reward at the end of it.
We did not expect that a big part of that reward would be of no use to us.I’ve made no complaints, other than to point out that,
Anet, no matter how much PvP stuff you throw at me, I will never PvP.
I will, however continue to enjoy your PvE.Now I’ll sign off.
There are signs that this thread won’t end well.T
I don’t PvP either, but I use the badges for ascended gear. It’s the same as FREE laurels.
And yes, you’ve been complaining the entire thread.
Complaining
Present participle of com·plain (Verb)
Express dissatisfaction or annoyance about a state of affairs or an event.Wut??? How do you do that? I have many badges too, I just dont know what to do with them because I never was interested in pvp. Maybe wvw but not untill I am finished with pve.
So basicly people who do not pvp, what do you do with the badges. I’ve seen people buying weapons and armour, can you use that in pve? I think not, but I dont know anything about it.
Siege merchant inside of WvW see This Developer Stream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64Mwats025Q&feature=c4-overview&list=UUP_FgMqOxp_VsM0UfrL-DxA for more info Would love to trade them into siege blueprints that if you really do not want to help your server you can sell on the TP. If you want to help out your server ask in map chat if anyone wants them while you are there.
Where are people getting the fact that they are putting in account bound mats. I actually got the opposite.
This tier is time-constrained, so each item can only be made once per day in order to help give high-level crafters their own economy of items to build and sell that retain their value and rarity.
The re-spawn timer for Clear the krait from Moogooloo to rescue the quaggan slaves the Krait re-spawn too fast for the event to be completed solo.
Level 25 effective 28 guardian.
Colin is right about making the vote rather worthless if they end up implementing both regardless.
I hope that we would not be missing out on important lore though. If we keep the lore and just miss the fractal then I would be more ok with this.
IMO-
The Celestial gear was a test to see how to community would to the new way of crafting.
The hole living story for the first few months up until now was a bunch of tests. This is why I was ok that it was meh. Looks how good our game is getting because of it too.
A lot of people are not bothering with legendaries due to the non-clear path to get them. (precursor was rng only) With the hardest part the precursor being craftable this will drive up demand as they are more obtainable.
Supply and demand dictates that if supply is too low people just don’t bother. Because the costs are too high. In this case the indirect cost of RNG is too high. Lowering the indirect cost can raise the direct cost due to demand increases.
You forgot about call targeting.
First ArenaNet needs to decide on what model they want to use. Expansions/Campaigns or Microtransaction only. After that has been decided we will likely get word on when we will be continuing the personal story.
As of right now they are improving the core of the game. So that a expansion does not drive people away due to missing core features(LFG tool) or laxster PvP They are also trying to keep those that currently have the game somewhat entertained.
Then after all that is done and the content is released(Whatever method that will be) we will continue our personal story.
The difference between the personal story and living story is well …… Close to nothing. The living story is obvious it is not my story. Personal story at least the attempt is made to make it my story.
Other then that I like the personal story because of the way the narrative could be told. Living story is a lot harder to have a narrative that can be caught up on.
Temporary content is bad by itself. This is just one example but we did see this with multiple temporary content. Not only this one.
Anet had to stop they temporary content stuff, but it comes out of a gem-store focus. Make temporary content and get so pressure people to play and buy gems.
If you really want this to stop don’t buy gems (and buy the expansion if available), if you really like temporary content buy gems (and don;t buy an expansion).. And be aware, I am talking about temporary content, not regular patches.. people seem to mix those two up a lot on the forums.
You say this in every thread- we get it-
Thats good.
I think you bought the tin foil hat in the gem store.
Temporary content is there because of the companies goals to tell a living story and keep people engaged and playing. Most people do not buy gems. If everyone stopped buying gems will not stop the temporary content it will kill the game.
A-net has stated that they are looking to add build templates at a later date. However, PvP will likely be getting the option first, being that their gear system has less variables.
Not to mention the lack of cost to re-spec.
I hope he gives us his signature smile. This is going to be interesting.
If you will be focused only on that Achievments it take about 1000 hours of pure time. I did it in 3 months. 12 hours/day.
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1595/gwhom.jpgYou can do it all pretty much solo just with heros
HOM rewards calculator is right you are crazy.
~1k hours sounds about right though.
I don’t know. One fractal shows the destruction of Rata Sum which is clearly in the future. So not necessarily historical.
Source?
By no means should all crafting items be account bound. The design of crafting per the game is to make money.
The way ArenaNet has added Celestial gear proves you to be wrong. If the point in crafting were to make gold, no craftable gear would have been account bound.
You obviously did not read my post. I gave my reasoning why I think crafting was in the game originally to make money. It was the community that decided otherwise.
All they did with this is testing out ways to get things that need to be time-gated to be craftable.
Should some crafting items be account bound. Shure. Everything. No way. Not ever.
Cheaper waypoints for only 4 weeks. Meh Same with the gemshop cutbacks.
The way I look at it Evon fractal might be harder to implement so maybe they need the gemshop sale.
The following is a bit more extreme on what is possible. He likely data mined a few items and or used some animation software but it can be done.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWCTlxEp6Ds
Hopefully this will silence some of the more vocal minority
A) To what statistical data can you claim one side or the other a majority?
B) Why do you want to silence those with whom you disagree?
You asked for statistical data I was positive that there was some on this topic.
So here you go:
A) "Our data consistently shows, time and time again, that people are more likely to speak up when they have a bad experience, less likely when they have a great experience, and hardly ever when they’re somewhere in the middle. "
Source: http://foreseeblog.com/2012/08/28/feedback-vs-measurement/
On Topic: I am excited for this perhaps we might get some better understanding about the Living Story.
Well, OP has a point. I think certain combinations aren’t available from ascended gear?
And there should be more ways to get earrings. Maybe earrings for badges? Or allow them to be in fractals? Or do we just want people leeching off large guilds?
I think part of the reason why they are testing out this hole quartz thing is to put systems in place to allow crafting of ascended items.
First of all… what makes you think you NEED this to be “competitive” in WvW?
Second…. it should be in-game round about the time that the Precursor Scavenger hunts are done :p
You mean “When it’s Ready”™
Complaining about quartz conversions being limited to once a day is like complaining about Precursors being rare.
“Entitled” people are entitled to their opinions, I know I know.
One has little to do with the other. I can toss thousands of rare or exotics in the forge and get as many precursors as possible…
This not to mention everything after the crystal is account bound, so it wouldn’t even impact the market.
I wish what you said made some sense, but in this case it really is pretty far off.
If the goal was to make this stat more rare, sure, but it’s open to everyone without much expense beyond a time commitment.
But the crystal itself is not. Thus driving up it’s price
I think of this as a test on rarity.
I think i have about 4 stacks of crystals… How is that rare? Do you mean after the area is gone?
Yep. And after they make some more crafting items that require it. The area is just to seed the economy.

I think the economy post is more spot on. I don’t think it is anything about being lazy.
But they are all SOULBOUND? WTF?
They are not soulbound.
You can put them in your I AM A GOLD SPAMMER. PLEASE REPORT ME BY PRESSING THE REPORT FLAG ICON IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THIS POST! in the Mists (where any of your characters can take them) or salvage them with a PvP Salvage kit.
Use “Deposit All” in your inventory to put them there.
edit: I am not a freaking gold spammer, wtf!
Ugh I forgot about the PvP salvage kit. I have destroyed about 3-4 armor pieces because of it.
A lot longer then it used too.
This statement is not true.
Instead of weekend bonuses the bonuses last for an entire week & I believe some of the bonuses have been doubled from what they were back in the day.
Some of the titles have been made easier to achieve as well, for example, the drinks are now spammable. You used to have to drink at specific intervals to get full credit for your various ales.
Just the 7 hero update made the game a walk in the park compared to the old days & that was before they made most of the titles to get easier before GW2 was released.
Dont get me wrong, there is still a lot to do, but in no way shape or form does it take longer than it used to.
Don’t get me wrong there are some parts that are easier. But the parts that still require other players are harder.
A lot longer then it used too. If you are talking 50/50 I would say at least a year just due to the low population making it harder to play. And that is a low ball guess.

watch this space
If you compare this to other mmo’s like WoW, Rift etc they have like REAL mage like classes which actually CAST fireballs, icebolts etc.
I’m sorry, which real life historical mages are you using as the criteria for what a real mage is?
Gandalf the Grey
I’m not sure you understand the words “real life” and “historical”.
It’s Lies Lies I tell you Gandalf is real.
[for those that can’t tell a joke my comment is a joke and so was lilstev comment]
@OP I really don’t see your issue.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
Due to the fact it is temporary content I do not like the fact that they put the recipes behind a Level requirement(Let the armor have level 80 requirement that is fine)
I would be fine with this if they did not have the level 80 requirement on the armor recipes.
The question is how come there are multiple references to crafters selling what they make. Look at the achievement for crafting it says will craft anything for a price.
The community decides crafted items was worthless. Not Arenanet. There are plenty of things that make money in crafting if you find your own mats. They just take either A ) A long time to sell (armor) or B ) are expensive to make. (Bags)
By no means should all crafting items be account bound. The design of crafting per the game is to make money.
That being said with items that need to be time-gated I would be ok with being account bound. However the recipes to make them should be discover-able not behind some temporary content.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
Sure the achievements increase your XP karma gold and magic find. It gives you some Laurels. But that does not make it so that you can win. Not only that there are other means in the game for increasing those stats with better success.
In addition to that the amount of work required to get the chests for a new player make this a non-topic. We are only talking about this because we are getting one chest every day. This just will not be happening for the average player base in the future.
It is automation of gameplay. Regardless of how ridiculous or lack of skill it is. Simply automation of gameplay of any type against the rules.
The rules are not just in place to protect against cheating but to also prevent abuse. In this case if too many people do it it would cause a un-needed load on the server.
A different dev’s response https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/api/Another-live-WvW-Map-Checking-legality/2388512
This is entirely different. The guy was asking if it was ok to read the keyboard, not send key presses to the game. Was a pretty silly question, since if doing so was illegal, you wouldn’t be able to use the keyboard outside the game.
Exactly.
My question: is there any way to separate the purchase of new things from the gem store from your actual game account. For example, I would be willing to sign up for an option that does not deliver what you have bought UNTIL your money is in ANET’s hands. This would protect my game account and allow me to purchase the fluff items without fear. I can wait a few days or even a week or two to receive an item just to be sure that something doesn’t go wrong with my account.
You can avoid most if not all payment issues by purchasing GEM cards where available also.
This was some nice trolling from Anet. The rich bought out all the mats at zero cost, and are now stretching the limits of long integer variables with their gold amounts. I bought quite a bit of candy corn a few hours too late, but still hoped to make a few gold on it. Unfortunately it turned out after wasting a significant amount of gold, that the supply boxes are utterly worthless, which meant that the candy corn I invested in, was also worthless. I expect all of the bought candy corn and most other mats except the most efficient few end up back on the TP very soon, because why in earth would I buy a supply box worth around 25s that gives the same or less than a 4s loot bag that drops in heaps in WvW and from many other mobs in PvE? ;/
I have never received a Box with the recipes in it from PvE or WvW. Are you sure they drop.
If you’re selling siege you likely don’t care about wvw anyway… otherwise there’s a dozen commanders willing to take donations on your server I’m sure.
I don’t quite understand why people who can afford to throw 100g on a badge would need donations lol. Shouldn’t it be the other way around, commanders giving out siege to people who follow them?
The answer to that is simple. After he got his commander tag all his gold went to siege. As before all of it went to saving up for a commander tag. So he is now broke.
It will come
When it’s ready.
You will likely want to wait for the blog post that is going to happen on the 25th I think is what Colin said.
It will come …… Wait for it ……..
….

When it is ready™.
it says Soulbound on use so i doubt it, the reason they’re not in the TP yet is because no one has ever Listed them, at least thats what i think.
I made the same mistake it states account bound above Soulbound on use. In this pictures will check tonight with the in game codes.
Not only that the recipe for the items are not permanently available outside of the trading post. In addition to that the market decides if the item is of use or not.
- Limited Time Content
- Requires 30 days
- Requires Crafting Mastery
- Anyone who doesn’t get it crafted will be subpar until they decide to release it again.LAWL.
‘Release it again’? As long as you get the meta achievement (crstyal node) and get the recipes (which you can collect and throw in your bank until you can use them), you can craft it as you produce the materials. It isn’t going away….
However new players after this event will NEVER be able to get the recipe or armor after the recipes are all sold out.
Now if there was a way to keep up the supply of recipes for example the vendors were available outside of the event area and there permanently this would be a non-issue.
The Mining node and Quartz arnt account/souldbound neither are the Recipes. Just like Halloween Items, new players will have to pay alittle more to get the gear.
I Did Halloween but didnt know about the Crossing, 3 months later I bought the Recipes and materials.
I am talking much further down the line. If they are not re-released I can see them eventually being sold out. I am aware that they will be available for a while.
However….. This Living story is easily repeatable with a few modifications and just smells market correction event all over it. I could see this event easily returning whenever a market correction is in order with modifications to what is needed.
I am also not worried for myself. But the new players and the players that miss out on the event.
I am sure ArenaNet will do the right thing. But I am apprehensive on the lack of knowing.

Um…… Pics show they are not account bound. But soulbound on use.
Look at the line just above “soulbound on use” in that pictures.
Oh I see… Um. Ya don’t like. Especially because the recipes will only be around for a limited of time. If there were other ways to get the recipe I would not care. This not only requires me to get 400 crafting but also if I don’t want to spend the 40s to switch around items all the time I have to get multiple characters to level 80. In a short period of time.

http://dulfy.net/2013/07/08/gw2-quartz-crystals-and-celestial-recipes-guide/
Can somone who has actually crafted it confirm that it is not account bound. Or someone post a picture of one of the armor sets using the code.
If it does show account bound in game. It might be a bug.
I just thought I would drop this in here. I think everyone got the same thing.
Due the release of the new AP use now we have a race for the 10k AP to get the current max level of achievement point.
Right now as casual player, logging since the head start and playing weekends and weekday night im sit at 5.3k AP, maybe in another year i can get about 9-10k.
Since anet is releasing new contest every 2 weeks and every one have around 150-200 AP in one month we can get around 800-1000AP doing dialy and monthly.
So Plz anet make the amount of AP we get from living story a little more high.
Um…. 10k is not max. Per the user that put the information on there.

Mesmer Portals should be disabled for JP’s or the Mesmer portal nerfed so it is harder/impossible to use in JP’s.
Why??
Because it makes jumping achievements pointless, ie…no achievement at all really, for the Mesmer who did the JP and all the players mesmers portal to the end.
Mesmers often demand payment as well…which causes trouble…
Also, Mesmer portal has been abused in loads of different ways and its one of those skills Anet have trouble designing content around because of exploits from Mesmer portal…
Everyone should do JP’s by you know jumping…they will get a better sense of achievement when they do…
Why do you care? Not trying to be insulting. I seriously want to know so I can understand why they should do this. Because right now they really are not hurting anyone by keeping things the way things are in is helping matters in some cases.
I think a lot more people would be upset then happy if they nerfed/disabled Mesmer portals on jumping puzzles.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
Hmm, I feel kind of ripped-off…
I bought 2800 gems to buy myself the molten alliance mining pick, the axe and the sickle I found on the page “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store#Upgrades”. And then I discovered that only the axe is still available…
So, I bought the axe, but how can I get the other two?? Only after reading these and other pages and getting back to above gem store page; i discovered that there is a note saying “Historical items
These items are no longer sold in the store” in relative short lettertype…How to get to the other two pieces or get my money back?
FYI for future reference the wiki is maintained by the playerbase not ArenaNet. You can’t get the other two. May i recommend a bank tab expansion or a extra character slot. Or you can save it for when/if they decide to do something like it again.
Demanding for ports is just not right. That being said.
I don’t consider portals on JP a exploit a bug or even cheating as it requires the williness of others. It already has a large timer on it and not all JP allow a portal by the nature of the jumping puzzle timeing out.
A lot of mesmers run portals for coin. Not as a actual request but becouse from time to time they get tips. And a lot more tip then you think. I think it comes from a culture of runs in GW1 to where instead of asking pepole actually advertized they were running pepole though content. Also some run becouse they like helping others. They get joy out of this so taking it away from them is not a good idea. This is something that was prevelent in GW1 also. I don’t consider it cheating. If it was cheating it would not be part of the game.
I have tried really hard time and time again to do the Jumping puzzles I try first multiple times before I give up though. Some are just way too hard for me at this time and I have limited time to complete it. So I ask and I tip. Why do I ask. Well I like the view at times it is easier to ask if one is avalible then do the grind of some of the other achievements.
I am also respectful in my request. I ask and I tip what I can afford. I don’t stand around for hours spamming for hours.
You want to know what really is mind blowing?
- People during the new Sanctum Sprint begging/demanding that the 1st Place person “hold back” and allow others to cross the finish line to get the achievement so “everyone can get it”.
This I don’t approve of. I don’t see anything wrong with with asking if the first place is ok with it. But if not continue to try and try again. I am sure eventually things will be in my favor. You only need 16 of them for the skin anyways. You don’t need all the points to get it.
While I agree with the sentiment that this is WvW and if you don’t want to fight don’t come here, getting their rears handed to them by ‘griefers’ is in no way shape or form going to encourage anyone to stick around and play WvW. Just the opposite I think.
What it should do is encourage players to form parties or go into EB and rally the troops to wipe the “griefers”.
