Come back on the 6th. Rewards are getting a buff then

Oh lookie a place on the wiki to catch up on the story.
I would highly recommend reading:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
I personally think thieves are fine in this matter. The counterbalance is not to be a glass cannon.
I wonder if removing the condition removal from Hide in Shadows and instead buffing the condition removal for Roll for Initiative would solve the complaints for stealth.
I don’t think that this would be good for the economy.
Thief’s can not cap while stealthed. Also a mesmer does a better job at party stealths.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
I wonder if the effect polishing they are referring too is more to reduce bandwidth and server load than it is to please the players. They have said a main issue with reducing PvE culling is bandwidth and they needed to find a way to reduce it.
I’m all for toning down some of these effects at the large encounters, but I hope they have done this right.
That all depends on if it makes the system less chatty. All depends on how it is implemented.
Not necessarily if they do it right the good drop rates and the good loot will come from orr. Scaling also works in the players favor for adding champions in orr this will not happen in queensdale.

Bonus Rewards for Dungeons
Each day when you finish a unique path for any explorable or story dungeon, you’ll receive a bonus reward for completion—1 to 3 gold for explorable dungeons depending on their length and difficulty, 50 silver for story dungeons. Guaranteed coin rewards that previously dropped from bosses in dungeons have been removed in lieu of these new rewards for dungeon completion; all other drops off of bosses have not been changed. Now you have even more incentive for braving the hazards of the dungeons of Tyria!
That is all.
I agree this is a problem. The solution to this problem is to fix the level scaling (any other types of scaling) so that it is no so easy to complete it.
All I want is the
thrusteraetherized sword! is that too much to ask!?
Yes because it is not in there. Check the vendor before you get to many Chests.
Microtransactions can be done right and most of the time ArenaNet hits things just about right. There is a place for RNG boxes even in my opinion.
However I think on the skins. Particularly the “High value” Skins are where things can sometimes go wrong. I am unsure if $60 is the right price for high value skins. Perhaps a maximum value should be aimed at around 35-45. This can be obtained by lowering the cost of the keys by a small margin. Who knows they might see that this works well if Evon Gnashblade wins. Part of the reason why I would like to see him win.
I know that $280 is the wrong value. However I can see why they did that. They want the skins to retain their value over time and if they don’t increase the price then everyone will have one. They know this from the In game store from Guild Wars 1.
And thinking about it rarity wise 1 in five is the higher end of common.
+1. On our list. Seriously though, we have already been making small fixes to mouse selection. We have a whole page dedicated to targeting issues we plan to fix. How about the issue where you cant select targets through invisible walls. i.e. the dividing walls between side points and keep in Forest.
Target nearest enemy PLAYER, this will fix all target issues.
The problem is if it just picks the nearest enemy player then that looses the hide strategy. So it actually would not fix all of them.
Seems to me that they’re moving to that, having a permanently dropping single currency for new RNG based weapon sets, and keeping them on the game permanently as well, but with a substantial discount if you get them during the apropiate event, we’ll see if it’s a one time thing or a new permanent way to get the new skins.
That sounds reasonable, I dislike the sheer scale of the price hike after 2 weeks (5 times the price is very steep) but if this is their new pattern for the future then you could keep a Black Lion Claim ticket until a set comes along with a weapon that you like and then buy it.
It’s just a pity they didn’t make the Black Lion Claim tickets trade-able instead of the skins, oh well.
Are the claims tickets just for the new weapons or can you buy an old one, like a flame and frost weapon, with it?
Just the new. From my understanding.

MF from food will not dissapear ^^
Until the masses complain that players are using MF food and not power/toughness food and are thus leeching from the hard work of others….
//Portable Corpse
Except most MF food has that in it.
wishing for things to happen and expecting certain things to happen will not necessarily translate into those things actually happening.
so what else should we do? create a kickstarter?
Sadly the only thing that will matter is us waiting. Just wait. That is all that will matter. Perhaps share stories about why you want cantha. That we can do. Just because the great collapse replacement is not going to be cathian does not mean that we will never have access to Cantha.
30 chests and 7 scaps so far!
16g for (5) x 5 = already spend 90G
And the skin i want is now 19g in the trading post
but i must go on or else its a waste of money spend on 7 scraps. Maybe if im Lucky i get 3 in the next 5 :S
But after this.. i will never ever buy something from the gem shop again! I am beeing robbed, backstabbed because i buy from the gem shop.. and looking at the RNG drop from the monsters i feel like beeing kicked in the balls too!
Thanks for giving me such a wonderfull time! You just lost a customer to your gem shop! GG
On the flip side look at all that other stuff that you got.
This is one thing I don’t like about the complaints with RNG. They always IGNORE what else they got. Calculate the value of all the other items. Then tell me if you were “Robbed”. I think you will find that you were not.
Yeah, because a booster, a unid dye, and a bank access are totally worth something.
Or a booster, a 50influence 1 time item, and 3 mysterious tonic, cause those are also worth something.
Same with the chest I opened before (just can’t remember what it was I got).People should just delete the chests (like I am), maybe once the supply on the tp gets to zero, and no new ones are added, people won’t be able to open chests as easily so people would finally stop buying the kitten keys.
Maybe not to you no. But they are worth something. Booster is worth about the amount you get it in the gem store for same with bank access. Some players like the Mysterious Tonics some use them to convert them into a everlasting tunic and use them all the time. Dye is worth around 17-18 silver.

If you read the patch notes correctly the answer to your first question is only from the Black Lion Chests.
That certainly seems to be the case, it does state that they have been added to the black lion chest it doesn’t say they’re only in the black lion chests. I was wondering if people got them from other sources that grant Black Lion goods, like from daily rewards, map or story completion, and so on.
Due to this release ends in two weeks I would guess the answer to the second question is no. Due to the tickets are still available after these next two weeks.
My second question was will these be replacing event specific tickets in the future, I know these tickets are staying around.
There are nothing in the patch notes that state that they drop elsewhere so the answer to your first question is no. I also have not seen them drop elsewhere. The skins themself drop but not the tickets.
The answer to your second question is yes for the foreseeable future.
What I am concerned about is the possibility of recon that may be happening. If there are in game references to a cathan district unless there is one currently somewhere that we have not pieced together. Then what was there before the great collapse should be the cathan district. I understand there may be reasons for it not being one now. Put a single NPC talking about how it was the cathan district to keep that story line. If the arts district will now have no relation to cantha.
What I am confused about is how the lore does not currently support a cathan district.
If you read the patch notes correctly the answer to your first question is only from the Black Lion Chests.
Due to this release ends in two weeks I would guess the answer to the second question is no. Due to the tickets are still available after these next two weeks.
Not to sound rude, but almost nothing of your plot summarise is actually correct. Of course that by itself might just imply that the story is too stretched for the masses to follow.
And that is the main problem. We need something to tie it all into a nice pretty bow as it unfolds. Some sort of summary in game. Something perhaps next to the Personal story in the hero tab. Something that we can read or watch or play (likely read as it is easiest.). So that it brings the dis-jointed parts together so we can see the big hole.
I heard ArenaNet is aware of this problem. I sure hope a solution is coming this year.
As for the current living story I see it tieing dragon bash,Atherblades to this but I don’t see how Rox or Braham(he is still off chasing his girlfriend) comes into play.
I was hoping that the wiki at least could have this as this is how I got caught up on GW1 lore….. However the wiki is so disjointed on the matter too. I don’t even think the editors of the wiki can see most of how they tie together.
ArenaNet needs to balance for skill.
Balancing for skill is actually extremely hard to do. In a good game balanced is not every build is good for every scenario. Every build should not be good for every scenario or skill. Same with every skill in game. It should not be used in all situations. Give it a few weeks. Let a new meta evolve.
Yes I know it is in the tooltip.
If it’s in the tooltip… ???
Gaile, I’d prefer not to have additional buttons to confirm something if it’s already stated. If a player chooses not to pay attention, Anet should not have to hold their hands while playing. It would be like punishing the players who do pay attention and read.
Ya it looks like it is in the tooltip at least for Miyani stuff. I agree I really don’t want another confirm. Making it more visible have soulbound and account bound items in a separate tab and have a notice up top saying all these items are soulbound/accountbound.
So apparently all the reports that have come in over god knows how many months, were vague….
If you worked in development or technical support. This would not surprise you one bit. Yes perhaps the In Game bug reporting tools need some fixes. However most reports likely only included the screenshot of the tower. The objective and maybe what they were doing. Things that were likely needed where:
What map,What location, Number of players around,What skills off around them, What the players skills were that were going off, What upgrade status the gate was,What side of the gate was being hit, Were there rams up, Any other siege up? etc… Etc. That is a detailed bug post.
Well at least we have a idea of what the drop rate should be
Most key drops have been replaced by Black Lion Ticket Scraps.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest/Drop_rate
Do depending on what most means I would guess the drop rate should be about 20%.(This seams to match up with the results in approximate).
That means that in 20 chests you should have got about 4 scraps.
So to get a total of 10 scraps you should be expected to open up about 50 chests.
Cost of key is about $6 for 5. That means that one weapon would cost about $60.
That means that the items in the trading post should cost 180 Gold.
Want to prove the RNG is bad. You can help in the drop research data. Fill in your data there.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
Perhaps to help on this when purchasing soulbound items from a vendor like Miyani could we get a warning that it will soulbind. Yes I know it is in the tooltip.
I don’t think his concern is so much on deleting a character but the fact that the obtaining the item did not give a warning. He just did not care until he deleted the character.
I recently purchased some crystals from Miyani and did not get any warning that it is soulbound as not everything I get from her is.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that by “common” Anet means “Rare” and by “Rare” they mean “Forget it”.
Ya I think that ArenaNet does need to re-think their rarity levels to communicate more effectively on what to expect. I would call greens blues, whites, junk, and crafting mats common.
I would classify the scraps as un-common however not rare. I got keys frequently enough before this patch when I did open up the BL Chests.
If I was in to paying for RNG I would probably limit myself to 20 Black lion chests. If 10 scraps is the minimum. That would be about $25. But I generally don’t care as much for cosmetics. The actual probability rate of getting one item is closer to spending $30-60 bucks
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
The scraps directly replaced keys in the loot table, so the scrap chance is exactly equal to the free keys you got before…
I have had 5+ BLC’s in a row with keys in before and I have also had loads of BLC’s without any keys so there you RNG, you can be lucky or unlucky…
Not exactly.
Most key drops have been replaced by Black Lion Ticket Scraps.
So they actually have a slight lower chance then what it was getting a key.
Something similar not exactly was said in a interview. I will edit my post when I find the interview.
What’s more is that the team is also working very kitten finding a way to make it so that every profession has access to every weapon and their own weapon skills for those previously locked weapons.
Please note mmorpg is paraphrasing what they interpreted not a direct quote from a interview.
And probably has something to do with this
To go along with this, we’ll expand the content and options to earn skill points to help encourage players to experience different challenges and content throughout the world. These skills and traits will be designed to be balanced with the existing skills/traits we currently have in the game, and will simply compliment and expand the range of abilities and tactics available to each profession.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
But does not mean it will come in exactly the way mentioned in the MMORPG article.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
Balancing a game is hard and requires understanding more then just numbers. It requires a bit of philosophy and understanding player behavior. The following videos might give you some insight of the topic to help you address your true concern more precisely.
By the time they have a update for the rewards system they may have LFG tool complete. They just completed did some playtesting last week. So it is coming ….. soon and not soon™
Details please?
We have already seen in a previous interview within the past 2 weeks from Mike Z, who (AFAIK) said that the box sales + gem store is more than enough to fund the company (which is the reason why we won’t have to pay for boxed expansions).
The real quote is as follows:
I pressed him to tell me whether there would be a Guild Wars 2 expansion this year and he shook his head to indicate no. What about next year, I asked?
“If we do this right,” he answered, “we will probably never do an expansion and everything will be going into this Living World strategy.”
Back on topic:
For those that cry RNG I agree it is still RNG but the odds are in your favor.
The Black Lion Chest now has a common chance to drop Black Lion Ticket Scraps and a rare chance to drop Black Lion Claim Tickets, which can be redeemed for Aetherblade weapon skins.
Some of the crafting guides are dynamic in response to the trading post however still too rigid due to the crafting experience tradeoff.
Eventually ArenaNet might find a use for it and introduce a new recipe.
The new system being slightly better than the old one doesn’t mean it’s good. The current system rewards the grinders/exploiters who have a lot of gold and can make more by just flipping the new skins in the TP (no wonder a certain someone is defending it). If the skins were untradeable but sold directly in the Gem Store, instead of being available through RNG boxes, it would be a more honest system and people would still have the option to trade gold for Gems, while still giving more money to ArenaNet than if the main way to acquire the skins is by paying TP exploiters.
Hum….. Does not a trading post flipper benefit you if you buy the skin and put it up for sell lower then what the flipper thinks it is worth.
Who is to say grinders and exploiters are the only ones with a lot of gold. I currently have about 30 myself I am sure that I would be able to obtain at lest one for that amount. Most players I think earn about 1 gold at minimum a day unless they are busy crafting or WvW(Two Vary costly things).
Personally this is the best of both worlds. This allows a guaranteed drop. As well as gives availability to the item after the event(But still with limited stock to make it valuable.) In addition to that I don’t think that the skins would cost more then 30 gold up on the trading post.
The fractal will (likely) not be made for the losing option, but that doesn’t mean they can’t provide any information through some other means about the events. they haven’t developed it, but obviously they’ve done from prep work to come to a decision to use these two, so they probably have what happened written down somewhere. We’ll likely see it, but probably not through a fractal.
Honestly, I’m surprised they don’t keep a rolling selection of options for future player choices. Like, the losing option here gets rolled into the next choice between fractals or something. It doesn’t cancel the meaning behind this vote, but it does allow them to keep it a possibility for future content.
The question is giving us the information would that de-value our choice. The reason why they are not doing both is because it would de-value our choice. How much more information do you think we are going to get though the fractals. Will they give us that information? Or will they leave it forever surrounded in mystery and only give us the necessary information for the storyline.
Question for everyone just to get a feel for things.
Just a question to get the feel for things. Would time-gating be ok if it was once per day per character as apposed to once per-day per account?
I personally think a lot of alt aholics would be ok with this. It allows them to progress the character as a character not as a account.No. The point is to gate how long it takes an individual character to get a full set of these items. With 5 characters I could fuse 5 pieces a day and be done with one toon in like a week and a half.
That would completely invalidate the point of time-gating the content in the first place, because then it wouldn’t be time-gated. It’d be character slot gated.
What if that same time gate required you to complete content in higher level areas to get the item for the timegate? What if you could only fuze quartz in Orr.
Would it be ok then. In the case of quartz.
Then you could not just run up with the 5 new characters. You would have to level each one. Then go complete the content.
The point is to time gate one character. You already did forcing all those characters to level a specific amount takes time. Or coin to bypass the time. Which still take time to get. (Don’t talk about the cash shop here because that is the entire point of the cash shop if for those that want to bypass time requirements.)

Where are people getting the fact that they are putting in account bound mats. I actually got the opposite.
This tier is time-constrained, so each item can only be made once per day in order to help give high-level crafters their own economy of items to build and sell that retain their value and rarity.
It has a lot to do with this:
We’ll also add a new set of account-bound crafting materials to the game.
Full quote
We’ll also add a new set of account-bound crafting materials to the game. You’ll receive these materials as guaranteed rewards once per day per unique location for completing content within a category of gameplay in Guild Wars 2.
This is walking a fine line here. Something that would even get me. Who most of this has looked at the positive side of things upset.
So basically it is going to be time-gating not only by once piece per day but also by forcing us to do specific content from a category type. This is a vary bad idea. This guaranteed material reward should not be account bound. It would not create something useful but something useless once we have obtained the ascended armor we want.
Make the crafting pieces trade-able or at minimum limit it to 1 of these account-bound crafting mats per armor piece.

Have you been to Queensdale lately?
Some easy champion events around Queensdale.. The lonely part is all the way from 20 to 60something, until you get to Orr. I did that trip on my necro, and gave up around 65 because it felt like I was playing a singleplayer game. I decided to craft my way to 80 instead.
And I’m on Desolation, a server concidered to be full.
I know the state in the other levels. As I said it is a bit of a oddity. I think the champion changes will help in this regard.
Feedback like this is important too. I am going to put in my thanks. With this I actually have a goal to make a legendary. Before I was not going to bother at all. Relied too much on too much coin or random chance.
Now I have a clear path and I can act/save for it without it being a moving target.
Have you been to Queensdale lately? I agree it is a bit of a oddity but ….. Plenty of level 80s in Queensdale. I wonder why that is the case. Perhaps if ArenaNet identified why that is the case they can start spreading the love to other zones. (As long as it is not a bunch of people do things because it is easy over there.)
I would seriously liked this question answered. It would help ArenaNet shape future changes to achievement points.
The titles and achievement point values for WvW play are absolutely out of character with the rest of the game and we will be addressing that. What form that will take specifically I am not entirely sure.
What would you say if all of the sudden they took the WvW titles and achievement point and made them worth more similar to what is in line with the HoM points. Lets say that you don’t play WvW at all nor care to play it because it does not fit your play-style and you feel it should really be a separate game. How would you feel then? I would guess that you would feel about the same.
So with what they wanted to do they had to create a new game.
Exactly my point. Thank you.
ArenaNet is working on re-balancing the achievements. ArenaNet took a look at the difficulty of obtaining some of the achievements and adjusted the score based upon the difficulty.
If they released a complete overhaul instead of just tampering with HoM points alone, all this fuss might have been avoided – yet they didn’t. So I hope they will fix this issue with a better rework soon.
If you don’t think GWAMM it is difficult look at the following links. Then just think of the grind that may be needed to obtain some of them.
Why do you assume I think this to be either easy or fast?
I just think it belongs to another game and thus should not affect the current one as much as it does now. So if they had to grind this much in preparation to GW2, well, give them a precursor for their troubles, or any other kind of reward that does not mess with this game’s score.
I am not going to sit here and try to change your mind because it is pointless to do so.
I will however inform you more of where we are kitten from. Also why we are defending our 500 (Or in my case if you looked at my HOM ~250 points so vigorously.
Yes they did do a complete over-hall of the achievement system. It is also not complete. I would suspect further changes. Here is my reasoning for saying so.
The titles and achievement point values for WvW play are absolutely out of character with the rest of the game and we will be addressing that. What form that will take specifically I am not entirely sure.
Point 1: However it is because they really wanted to make a new chapter and we could not carry out characters over that they wanted to reward us for our efforts. They choose HoM rewards and Achievement points. They realized that the value of the Achievement points was not in line with the rest of the game and they also meant something now that you got chests out of them so they modified them. Simple as that.
The simple thing is all the Achievement point system states is “I have spent more time grinding these things then you have” I am probably going to get flamed by the GW1 vets for saying this however. Truthfully. That is all a HoM points says about a Guild Wars 1 player. Achievement Points before were worth not the storage that stored them. To make them worth something they added a reward system to it. Proof of this is they implemented a reward system.
In short nothing in ArenaNet nor a large portion of the player-base think the system is broken. It is working as designed. In fact a lot would argue that it is working better then it was before.
Sadly you fall into the exception to the rule. I understand your frustration and anger. However I don’t think a fix is necessary. Instead channel your anger and frustration to playing the game getting those achievement points that you don’t have(I know you have a few) while being diligent on getting your daily every day. Eventually you will likely catch up to quite a few of those GWAMM. Why? They are too busy enjoying GW1 Still to dedicate the amount of time required to keep the gap.
@Treeline.3865 vary true but that would require a thing called time and grind at a specific time.
