Jeez Grouch why spend time constructively helping people participate in tournaments, when you could be arguing with self entitled brats over why they are being beaten 1v1.

Everyone that has issues with some of the expansion content not being balanced is an entitled brat? Unless you somehow think they put out an expansion with tons of new abilities and traits and somehow it all came balanced out of the box? I know what shoulds childish (bratish) to me is blind faith. Tons of things are broken right now. What do you expect with an expansion these guys have not exactly proven themselves to be balance experts. They have three weeks to fix the most egregious things. Hopefully they put that time to good use but I have my doubts.

Delete stupidity? Yes:

  • Remove passive procs
  • Remove chat foul language filter
  • Remove “Inappropriate language” report function
  • Implement “Afk exploiter” report function
  • SoloQ
  • Less pve rewards, more pvp exclusive rewards (aka: no bags pls)
  • Remove scrub carry builds within 1 day instead of 1 year
  • Give a hint “press [keybind] to dodge” if dodge has not been used once halfway trough the match
  • Players have to solve a simple puzzle before they can press “ready”, the match will commence when all players are ready

From the top of my head

Agree with all but 2 and 3 could never happen in the times we live in. Can’t have anyone microaggressed against heaven forfend someone think of the children! Can’t have anyone use the block features its just too difficult. Queue 20 random posts about the toxicity of the pvp community.

So when DH gets gutted, who will the forum cry about? I want to save up my tears so I can post 5 threads a day. Please don’t give me advice on fighting X class. I refuse to change my playstyle or build. If I can’t beat it without changing, it needs nerfed.

Two can play this idiotic game. A-net is awesome at balancing and they added a ton of new content and it’s all balanced right out of the box with no need to adjust anything at all. They got everything 100% right the first time around. Do you see how silly you sound yet? Also, its rich coming from someone that went to the guardian boards and cried about DH to complain about other people complaining. I swear hate the player base of this game sometimes. You know full well there is tons of stuff that need to be adjusted before the pvp season starts.

Don’t be so sour there are tons of op elites. You can’t blame people for playing what is strong. It’s up to A-net to balance things. The pvp season starts December 1 I guarantee you there will be lots of changes to DH and the other elites to bring them more in line with the old builds before that happens.

This is unprovable by the methods you are suggesting. We need more time to see what is run during leagues etc. And yes if those classes are the massively over-represented compared to the old ones it is basically p2w. X beating Y has never in some duel has never been a good gauge because of skill level differences bewtween players.

I admit I missed in beta how strong certain things were but really DH is going to nerfed more as are all the Elites pretty much so be prepared for it because its 100% going to happen.

Sorry but this is no balance suggestion.. it is a list of skills you have problems with and want to get nerfed and skills you would like to have buffed.

You completely neglected all traits, introduced 2 new AoE pusling blinds, gutted the whole new set of DH utilities and ignored some really strong skills of diverent classes in favor of the skills you want changed.

Beside the fact that A-net always ignores such threads it seems to be quite a selfish one, at least to me.

Blah blah bah never nerf never nerf everything is fine. Hands in my ears la lal la. Thats what this seems like. At least to me.

Oh, because Abjured keeps winning, so haters gotta hate. I get it.

It has nothing to do with hater’s hating. I could care less whether Abjured wins or loses. I mostly solo queue I could care less about the e-sports aspect of the game. What I don’t like is that a few of these people have a-net’s ear enough that one week in they geot an amulet removed that wasn’t even working properly (the buff duration was broken) without any kind of real explanation. To me if the healing power of a certain calss aka Druid was the problem that should have been nerfed not a amulet that is not all that much different then Cleric. This was a good choice for bunkers guardians to deal with the ridiculous burst damage that was added with A-nets poorly balanced HoT expansion. 5K extra vitality is somehow broken? It the healing ability of a new unbalanced class that is the problem so other classes take it in the rear. It annoys me that in a game where thousands of people pvp a handful of people are the only ones that are listened to for balance purposes. It’s a shady process and quite frankly I could care less what Chaith’s opinions are. He is one person. You can be a toady and just do the father know’s best routine but quite frankly I think its pathetic.

It’s kind of interesting to read this thread and get a sort of peak behind the scenes at the amount of Abjured paranoia that exists within some of the other top teams. But Chaith made at the start of the thread what I consider to be the most rational complaint about the Minstrel Amulet; that it had the potential to dramatically slow games down. It’s the ultimate boring amulet.

Game pacing is already a huge issue for this game. It’s boring enough to watch a bunch of celestial amy bruisers stall points but at least sometimes things die. With minstrel guards and druids there will be fights where nothing much happens for several minutes at a time. There may be several high level games that go to timer with low scores. It won’t be fun to watch and it will make the tournaments take longer.

It’s also not really that much fun to try to fight them on a daily solo q basis but who cares about that right?

So what are you saying? Because you think a certain style of game play is boring certain builds are going right out the window? I guess if I want to play guardian i have to play Dragon Hunter? That’s your opinion not everyones.

Mitigating damage > healing. And shelter does both. You can block 100k damage in 2 seconds, but can’t take the hit, survive and heal back up from that.

For run of the mill spvp this trap is exceedingly strong because you are rarely facing high levels of coordinated burst where shelter shines the most.

Don’t forget to abuse the one trait and get aegis and pure of heart procs everytime you get crowd controlled. They need to fix. Over-all though if you want to be support tank the meta bunker build is superior to anything DH offers.

Thieves are not meant to fight 1vs1 fights against enemies with full health bars.

You´re supposed to cap points, finish off enemies that are already below 50% health quickly and then immediately vanish into stealth again and cap the next point.

I almost never die in PvP as a thief.

Of course you wouldnt die, you’re never putting yourself in any danger. You’re just playing the role of an add whose whole purpose is to sit out of combat unless a wounded person limps along.

This is precisely the problem. A substantial amount of thieves don’t want this. It’s a noncombat role, and it’s just as braindead as the old decap engineer that sat on points all day and never died.

The only difference, maybe, is that the engies with that spec chose it, while thieves are by and large forced into it if they want to be of use at all to SPvP teams.

And most of the other classes want it this way. It’s relaxing mentally to know that a thief will not bother you out of nowhere unless you are:

a.) in a fight
b.) already losing

Well, it seems to me that the choice is to either play the class in the way they are strong now or to keep playing it like you think it should play and failing. The fact of the matter is that in all the big tournament all the teams have thieves. You don’t want to hear it but you are primarily a +1 and decap at the moment. It is a role in conquest.

So no rated for weeks until the pvp season? Sounds awesome. Not. The reason people like to play rated is the maps and also there are some bads that realise there bad and don’t queue for rated. Also, no people under rank 20. Also, people like to try to increase there MMR. Its stoopid to be honest but really par for the course. Guess I won’t be playing much for a few weeks.

It’s all I play when I play Guardian. Burning is fun but there are a ridiculous amount of burning guardians lately you will be more valuable on bunker the majority of the time. I think the slowness of the build is a little exaggerated the current meta build uses staff.

Dragon rank/ played only thief almost 1k matched.

Can’t fight 1vs1 with any class cuz thief will lose mostly.

Therefore, Thief must run. Run Run Run. Just do decap or +1 fight. <<< other class can do this same. So, what is the point of playing thief in SPvP?? Just res in stealth? Oh, that’s freaking coooooooooooooooooooooool. That is Only one reason to play thief.

When ur thief meet any other class in 1vs1 situation, just run. cuz u can’t win mostly.

conclusion, DO NOT PLAY THIEF AT SPVP.

OTHER CLASSES ARE MORE BETTER HELP TO TEAM WIN.

I admit thieves are pretty much pigeonhold into point decapper, +1er, and rezzer but don’t dismiss the value of those things. A well played thief is still very valuable. You act like every class has 8 million roles it can fill in this meta. To act like thieves are worthless is just flat out false.

You can’t push most people into team play at least not in a game the requires five people. You would be surprised how hard it is to find five quality people. I have two friends that I spvp with fairly often we have tried to find people to play the other two spots you would be surprised how many flake out or quit after a loss or two or just disappear. And its really more then 5 you need because life calls sometimes. 5 people that can afford to just play whenever on a whim thats a fantasy for a lot of people and in actuality is a small group of people thats why you see so few 5 man dedicated groups.

Bunker guardians are more valuable then Burn Guardians the majority of the time so how can burn guardians be that OP? Run things that counter condition classes if your that afraid of Burning Guardians. If you don’t want to run things that can counter conditions then your going to pay for it. There is always going to be something strong that you have to play against that you will either need to build specifically against or run in a premade that has team mates that can counter it or you will get crushed by it. Being able to play whatever you want and flourish was a children’s tale A-net told you.

Most thieves I see have no map awareness and are obsessed with 1v1’s. If you can look at mini map often and use fog of war correctly you can decap whatever side point is owned by the enemy repeteadly unless they have a guy sitting there which in that case your golden because its 5v4 elsewhere. Decapping a point takes a few seconds and its very valuable.

True Shot is awesome. I mean a long draw time and being rooted in spvp. Nothing bad can happen then at all. I don’t k now about wvwvw and pve but for spvp especially with leagues coming expect DH to be among the rarest builds in mid to upper level play.

Can’t have resign in rated your final score effects your MMR so it pays to try to grind out as many points a possible even when losing big. There is a defference between scoring 100, 200, and 300 points for example. May even be increments between not really an expert.

And that right there says everything about why you’re not prospering with Dragonhunter. Because you’re not making a Dragonhunter at all, you’re trying to tweak a Guardian build you’re already attached to.

Back way up. Look at your new toolset with fresh eyes. Begin again.

One of the things about being able to fight from range or making meleeing with you an unattractive proposition with mid-fight trap drops is you don’t need or even want the same tools you carry on a medi-Guard.

Will Dragonhunter builds be as potent in the first month of refinement as a build that’s been polished for years? It had better NOT be, because that’s just nuts both as an expectation and as really crap design work. But, give it three months and you’re gonna see both the play-experience and the build-craft mesh to generate some real threats on the field, threats that will kick you’re backside if you try to counter them like every Guard with a bow is just a handicapped medi-guard.

Sorry I don’t have a complete playstyle to lay out in front of you, yet. The class is still in flux and the DH fans have only had six days compared to 2+ years. But keep an open mind. You’ll be fighting against and alongside the real deal very soon.

I wont be playing along side any for long because I’ll be in rated spvp and I figure even the idiots that start out trying to play it in rated spvp will be gone after a few days of getting rolled playing one of the most underpowered elite specs. Now you WvWvW and pve players enjoy your subpar pew pew.

It’s not even the best guardian build for spvp. If you solo queue the meta support bunker build is more valuable more often. And probably for groups as well one guy has success in a money tournament with it and all of a sudden burn guardian is meta.

It sucks in spvp you are allowed to disagree of course but I will never play it in rated in it’s current form and I would bet anyone it ends up one of the least played elites in spvp once things shake out a few weeks after the expansion goes live. It’s pretty simple a lot of the damage is easily avoidable and the bow skills are lack luster. The elite also does not synergise all that well with other guardian trait lines and not at all with the strongest pvp Guardian build support bunker. I am not even saying you can’t make it work in pve or WvWvW but spvp is a totally different animal. There are no zergs or buildings to shoot from or doorways people have to cross or highly scripted AI encounters in spvp. People will avoid traps and bow skills 2,4, and 5 easily in spvp.

So if people run it in esl, it’s op? That would make many classes ‘op’. It’s good, no doubt, but not op.

If nobody runs it, it means it isn’t good. Aka underpowered. So if the only way to convince you that ele isn’t op is to have teams run none of them, you can remain unconvinced.

It’s the most represented class to me that means its the strongest. It’s not just that its used. It’s really not hard logic.

What? Virtue of resolve heals for 85 every sec and you would buff it to what…105? and you want to nerf medi heal by 15%? Srry man but NO.

Decrease its cd yes, but nerf medi no.

Why not warriors do that much with adrenal health maybe more and they dont need any healing power really. I agree though medis don’t need to be nerfed but virtue of resolve should be buffed.

Unranked also uses a match making system. If you find yourself loosing the first few games, rest assured, your MMR will take a hit and find more suitable opponents for you next time.

Thats not really true we all know how the matchmaking works. It doesn’t put you in with people of your skill level necessarily it puts you on teams that are suppossed to be roughly the same in skill level which is just as like to have high and very low MMR skill levels jammed together as everyone being the same skill level. Now it should end up about the same in terms of wins and losses over time but it would be much better imo if the playerbase was large enough where everyone in the match with you would be almost exactly the same skill level as you without it taking forever.

Well, to be fair nobody plays a trap ranger so it’s like they don’t exist. He must have forgotten about them just like A-net apparently did to think this would be viable. Hey lets take something that nobody uses on Rangers (traps) and give to Guardians along with an inferior longbow to rangers.

1) It does significant damage at range, pierces natively, and has aa4 second recharge. The cast time isn’t all that long. I mean, the Longbow isn’t meant to be another melee weapon. Having that kind of a tradeoff isn’t a big deal.

2) Ring of Warding roots you during cast and is melee range. Hunter’s Ward is 1200 range, deals damage over multiple hits (VoJ synergy), cripples, and creates 1-5 rings of warding all for the cost of slightly longer cast time and 5s longer recharge. I’d say that’s fair.

3) we absolutely don’t need 25% movement speed. Certainly not with Dragonhunter. I think eventually we might get a trait, but this isn’t that time.

You are one of the most annoying trolls on this board. You always take the other side of whatever the op says. Long bow 2 is unacceptable for spvp. Thats fine if A-net doesn’t care about that but I and the vast majority of spvp Guardians will not ever use the elite in spvp. Time will prove I’m right i guarantee you this is one of the elites they will be tweaking long after the expansion goes live. I guess you would tell me DH is fine and there will be plenty of them in ranked pvp? Just tell me yes so I can ignore you forever.

I’d love to see you in spvp too bad your probably in unranked and hotjoin with the bads. I saw like 3 DH in 50 ranked matches this weekend and I was one of them. There will always be people that will defend crap. Go over to the spvp forum and look at how the average spvp feels about the new elites and see how everyone has DH at the bottom. You are smarter then markets, or the crowd or whatever you call the general consensus, though I got it.

Never seen dragonhunter with hammer and traps, you just talk nonesense. I am playing 2 days in a row for over 200+ matches in pvp and seen 0 ZERO guardians with hammer (that applies to DH as well).
Maybe in theory that would work but in practice not.

I’ve seen few DH with traps, dodged their traps and killed them with ease with my DH.

Lol, you are obviously the only one playing this game and your opinion on what someone else has encountered is obviously fact. I mean, Arenanet clearly only sold 1 copy of the game, those 4,999,999 other people who bought the game don’t exist.

I didn’t see one dragonhunter trap in about 50 ranked matches over the weekend. And maybe a handful of people playing the elite including myself. Traps are crap.

Reaper is OP

Nah, OP isn’t over-exaggerating. I witnessed virtually the same thing at one point last night.

We had 3 DPSers on a point trying to kill a Reaper Bunker. A Ranger chewing his kitten up with a LB from ranged, a Warrior CCing him down 50% of the time so he couldn’t move and then a normal D/P Thief backstabbing and heartseeking the kitten out of this Reaper. It took over 60s in a focused 3v1 to drop this guy and he wasn’t even a cool dodge rolling Bunker genius. He was just face tanking enormous amounts of DPS because he was a Reaper Bunker.

I don’t feel Reaper DPS is a problem but whatever this Bunker build is, it has way too much sustain. The guy was seriously face tanking like dungeon boss and I’m actually not over-exaggerating this. Dunno, I guess it’s possible I witnessed some hack mod. I’m not familiar enough with HoT specializations to really make a call on it at this point.

I can do the same thing as a bunker Guardian.

You must be a really bad player. Two DPSers should be able to kill a bunker guardian fairly easy and one eventually should be able to kill a bunker guardian by wearing him down. Guardians are support bunkers there are other classes that can spec to be harder to kill if thats all you want.
