So the least used warrior weapon will now be used even less? I guess balance has been achieved.

Least used warrior weapon would be offhand axe or rifle, not mace

Not really, I see far more people using offhand axe and rifle than I do mace. I’m talking all areas of the game, not just pvp. Most people are immediately turned off by the maces slow attack speed.. the nerfs just highlight how slow the weapon is to begin with.

Here’s how they should have done it. Give a living story meta reward of 250 collection expansion. Then put it on the gem store for a cap of 1250.

That would make everyone happy and anet still gets to make cash and appear to not be so blatant about their money grabs.

But then.. that’s something most people would consider useful, unlike glowy back skin #82 so that’s probably why it didn’t happen.

leveling 450 to 500 question...

fellyn.5083

Here’s what I did to reach 500 armor smithing, it took about 20 minutes.. assuming you have a crafting booster (which everyone should at this point).

Refined orichalcum ingots to 425
Built 8 inscriptions, built 8 boot linings, built 8 boot panels, combined them, this got me to ~450
Built 8 more inscriptions, built 8 helmet linings, built 8 helmet panels, combined them, this got me to ~475
Built 8 more inscriptions, built 8 glove linings, built 8 glove panels, combined them, that got me to 500

I already had all the materials I needed so that helped some. You can then either sell your combined items or salvage them for dark matter, which is what I did.

That being said I don’t know if this is the cheapest way to get 500… it probably isn’t. But it worked and it was quick.

Not really, unfortunately. Also the number of files is not a real indication of how much you have left to download. It’s just what it says, number of files left and they can range in size from 0k to much larger.

That being said you’re probably looking at a 18-19gb total download. My Gw2 folder is 19gb right now.

PvP armor carried into PvE

So I can get a full Arah set by just PvPing and never have to step foot in Arah? That is going to make alot of PvE people mad if that is true.

Yes, it will. Rightfully so. It’s significantly easier to attain in PvP and this change would not only be a low blow to the PvE players that have done multiple Arah runs to obtain a full set, but it would also kill the exclusivity of it. Terrible idea, IMO.

Are you implying it’s hard to get the Arah set now? Why would anyone care if there was another way to get a set of dungeon armor?

It’s not like people don’t sell Arah runs anyways, so that exclusivity you mentioned isn’t worth anything right now.

2) Charr need an anatomy fix and or special attention when it comes to gear because the slouched posture ruins so many armors that might look great if charr stood tall.

Bad news bro. Anet has straight up said they can’t be bothered to invest time in fixing issues charr have with armor.

Hey, everyone. We’ve been reading all your feedback about the Flamekissed Armor Skin that was released into the Gem Store yesterday.

Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor.

We will do a few things to address this issue.

  • We will temporarily remove Flamekissed Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
  • Players who have purchased Flamekissed Armor Skin will keep the skin.
  • We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.
  • Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art. We will also offer the Flamekissed Armor Skin for sale again at that time.
  • When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.

Note that there is no ETA on when this change will happen. We need to work with the Character Art Team to determine when we can have a new armor skin ready, and this could take some time.

Thank you everyone for providing your feedback. We appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel about the new armor set.

So you’re going to take away something that people bought and enjoy without compensating them fairly. It is great to be a paying customer at ArenaNet.

They are compensating you. You get to keep the armor. If you don’t like the new version you can get your money back.

if you ever bought Cultural armor to be “exclusive” ive got a news flash for you, EVERY member of your race has it. There is not a moment when i am in lions arch and im not staring down one charr or norn heavy armor guy wearing the same armor as every other one with in a few meters of the others, human cultural T3 became so generic when i saw it i was way past not impressed any more.

The whole reason people even bother buying the T3 cultural sets is because of exclusivity. At the very least you know (knew) that no other race can have it, so that reduces the number of possible characters with your set by a huge %.

This is where I stop following the argument. Is this true for many people? Your primary goal is to have a unique look? I don’t think so. If that was the case you’d see more people running around in godawful generic armor sets that no one uses. The goal is to have the best look. For many people, the best look for clothies is human T3. Stand in LA for 15 minutes and watch people run by, it’s clear that people care more about having this look than they do about how many people have this look.

I made a human guardian even tho I like the norn heavy armors. It was my choice but now that human t3 can be bought for super cheap, I want the norn armors because they look good.

I agree with you. I would love to see several of the other races’ cultural sets on my human, and I hope that becomes a possibility in the future.

You want the look you like because you like it, you didn’t say a word about how common the set is, only that you like it so you want it. We’re in agreement.

I made my charr warrior partly because I wanted to play charr and partly because I liked the exclusive armor.

I feel like if they are going to start letting other races use any cultural armor they should offer race changes (which they said would never happen).

But if we can give away racial armor then why not race changes?

This is about the most stupid thing Anet has done with the game.

Human: “Look at my awesome gear that is unique to my race that only humans can wear.”
Norn: “Oh hey, I’m wearing your armour, but a better version.”
Asura: “Yep, me too.”
Human: “WTF? I’m going to wear Norn T3 then.”
Norn: “You can’t, it’s for Norn only.”
Trahearne: “This wont end well…”

Good job ArenaNet.

If Trahearne was real it would probably have been his idea to begin with. #1 glory thief world wide. He can’t be happy until he’s put everyone else in his shadow.

You should just go ahead and get to level 80. Then you can run dungeons which give 1g per path each day, and 26s each subsequent run after that.

Beyond that any of the materials used to make ascended weapons will sell okay, which are mostly low to mid level materials (iron, soft wood, hard wood, platinum, etc).

It might be a good idea to stockpile gold and silver, too. As those will be used in ascended armor recipes whenever they come out.

That kind of sucks for anyone who spent like 100g buying the entire T3 set.

Full t3 set is closer to 120. Then you have to factor in transmute crystals and the set of armor to make them useful. So it’ll cost more than 150g with todays gem prices.

And then even more when they finally add in ascended armor because those sets are god awful to look at (if the sets that were data mined weeks ago are the ascended armor).

Yeah a reskin is not worth 800 gems. But the parcitular armor in question is a reskin of an armor set that costs 120 gold to buy and then if you want to put it on armor with useful stats it’s gonna cost even more. Which of course you have to have that armor to put it on as well, so make that 150g+.

So now it’s a reskin of an expensive armor for less than half the gold cost it would take to buy it in game.

This is true. But that is only relevant for the light armour set. The medium and heavy armour sets are certainly not worth the 800 gems.

Fair point but the OP specifically mentioned human t3.

No one is ruining anything for you, Anet will not remove this just because some people are annoyed with it. At the same time, people should be allowed to express their disappointment in this new armour set if they want to.

My only real complaint is at the price. I do not think a reskin is worth 800 gems. If it was a completely new armour set, that is not in game currently, then I would be happy with the price. That said, if it was a reskin of a set that I cannot get in game, for my human char (e.g. Norn cultural armour), then I would pay 800 gems for it. I’d still be disappointed with the price, but I’d pay it.

Yeah a reskin is not worth 800 gems. This entire thread is proof positive that people want to be raging mad about anything and everything…
Must be the cool thing to be on the internet these days…

It’s an armor skin. One that if you don’t like you don’t have to buy. It doesn’t magically devalue the original at all.
Sure, anyone on any race can wear it (as long as they are light armor) so long as you don’t mind looking like a walking torch.
If a fire motif isn’t your thing though, and you want that armor, then guess what? You still have to be a female human light armor wearer and have the gold to spend.

The differences are obvious and nobody is going to mistake someone who bought their t3 human cultural light armor with someone who bought the skin off of the gem store.

Actually that’s exactly what it does. Devalue the time and effort people put into getting their t3 armor.

And breaks the lore behind cultural armor into tiny little pieces, stomps it into fine dust, and then finally sweeps it up and throws away in the trash, as well.

How would you rate this update?

You guys are being quite childish here, If you have your cultural armor and you like it, be happy, you should not care if someone else is getting it for 1 silver a piece, good for them, I have my stuff, I enjoy it, that’s all that matters

Suppose you are in line to get coffee and your bill is $5 for a large. You pay and then the next guy pays $2.50 for the same large amount of coffee in a cup with a red lip. No rational human being is going to go “Welp, as long as I got my coffee I don’t care that he got the same thing at half the price for no reason.”

more like:

>I buy my coffee at 8am
>suddenly 12pm all coffee 50% off!
>oh man that totally devalues my morning coffee

you got your cultural armor 1st, and it was exclusive for a while and it still is to a certain degree, cause the difference between cultural and gem store is quite notorious

should there be a limit on what skins they should and shouldn’t re-use? of course!, but I think cultural armor is not hard enough to get to be so mad

Except for there is no other racially exclusive armors in in the game. Reskin dungeon armor if you have to reskin anything at all. But no matter how you look at it it’s lazy and a money grab and that’s all it is.

Not to mention the fact that it totally breaks the lore behind cultural armor as well.

but… why is that an “issue”?

>I got an item with a certain amount of effort and I enjoyed it
>new version of said item comes out cheaper

up till that point I see no problem whatsoever and I don’t wanna think that the problem is that now people can get this new version with less effort… i’d understand that for Legendary skins maybe, but cultural armor is really common and easy to get, also you know who got it the “hard” way and who got it from the gemstore just by looking at the weird fire effect

You guys are being quite childish here, If you have your cultural armor and you like it, be happy, you should not care if someone else is getting it for 1 silver a piece, good for them, I have my stuff, I enjoy it, that’s all that matters

It undermines peoples efforts. I’m not sure why that is hard to understand. Players should never feel like the effort they put forth into obtaining an item in game was wasted time. That used to be a big deal to anet, which was why they made such a big deal about aesthetics and horizontal progression.

Would you be happy, if after 6 years of schooling you finally get your degree and then all of a sudden people can pay $10 to say they got the same level of education as you without putting in any effort or time?

This is a falacy because a Zerg with ascended gear is able to do much more of whatever they’re doing than a Zerg without. It’s practically the difference between superior and regular siege weapons. It’s not aesthetics. They’re seriously and significantly better, even if only 10%/whatever it will be after ascended comes out. Skill is important yes, but numbers in stats and groups are devastating let alone other things like bloodlust, morale, and whatever else have you. You may think that’s not the case, but every player capable of doing what they’re doing faster, stronger and quicker is contributing much more effectively to their server, weather you realise it or not. If you have the damage to take out the cannons and burning oil quicker, you’re contributing to your team, if your suppress on the walls is stronger, you’re contributing to the team. If your healing is quicker, you’re contributing to your team. Any stat increase in any shape or form is beneficial to the team from a micro to a macro scale, otherwise why even bother with a stat raise in the first place?

We could say your argument is a fallacy as well..

1) everyone has equal opportunity to make/get ascended gear – if you don’t then that’s your own problem

2) up levels – these are way more disadvantaged than an ascended vs exotic fight. the uplevel will pretty much get instagibbed against a level 80 in full rares, not to mention exotics. But to this day in the last year I haven’t seen a single person complain they have to fight up levels

3) wvw is not meant to be balanced, that’s why it’s 1v1v1

4) if you want a level playing field a net already has one for you – it’s called spvp or tpvp (wvw isn’t meant to be balanced)

5) food – gives a huge advantage to people who can afford it vs those who can’t

Ascended is here to stay. It’s time people should learn to accept that. If anet is to remove ascended gear from wvw they would have to change all of the above as well. Because a balanced sterile environment is important, after all.

I believe that the way Ascended Gear is released goes against what made GW2 so fun in the past. It didn’t force you into doing stuff you didn’t want to do.

An Ascended weapon means I’ll be doing 10+% more damage than with my Exotic Weapon. That’s pretty huge in any kind of PvP.

So why aren’t there multiple pathways to getting these items? I mean from the start. From release. When Legendary/Ascended Weapons were released, there should have been a WvW method of getting them, or some sort of equivalent.

I don’t mean to say that it should be easy to get these items, but I find PvE boring—This is a game killer for me, and I know it is for some others, too.

Fix it, please.

Precursor weapons drop in wvw. I’m pretty sure you can get most of the other materials to make a legendary weapon in wvw too, except for the dungeon tokens.

Therefor Legendarys can be obtained in wvw. Same goes for all the materials required to make ascended weapons.

And complete ascended weapons have a chance to drop anywhere that ascended materials drop as well.

Are you really relying on RNG to acquire your ascended weapons on GW2? I mean, really? And what would you do with a Healing Power / Precision / Vitality weapon on a Condition Damage build?

No, I hate rng as much as the next person.

The “nerfs” I’ve seen proposed appear to be minimal. I think Arenanet is worried about upsetting the huge % of people playing warriors right now, and perhaps with good cause. But the longer they delay dealing with this, the harder it will be to deal with it.

Or maybe they’re just worried about over nerfing. For the better part of a year most people considered warrior a free kill and rightfully so.

They probably don’t want to put warrior back down to where they were and are seeking a middle ground. Take away the cc and the healing it took us so long to get improved and we’re pretty much back to day 1 warrior.

But conspiracies are fun. So whatever.
